Anyways, if you don't agree with me, I'll say he was Greek and was part of a rebellion against the Romans. The Romans were impressed with his prowess and mercilessness and he was recruited into the a Roman army.

(Foreigners joining the legions is a more well-known fact, although it was a great honor for the foreigners themselves.)
It WAS based on a true story...

And there were a SH!T ton of Romans that fought in the arenas, perhaps as much or even more than foreigners.

Btw, look up on types of gladiators. A couple of them had breastplates, helmets and some even leggings.
That is, if you were lucky and put up a good fight. Which a lot of gladiators tried to do.
Ghalennnnnnnnnn look inside ur room...

Pls.

Be prepared for some combat then. I don't think Isaiah is going to like that... and friends of the queen are gonna look for you too.

Pfft. I've got several thieves' guilds at my side who are fed up with the queen. And with the royalty. And with pretty much everyone else that maintains a sense of law and order in the streets.

Oh, btw. They do this every 7 years, when the queen is still recovering from her transformation.
Uh, Roman soldiers often got arrested for mutinies, ~cruelty to prisoners~, etc, etc. lookit up.
And Romans did get imprisoned themselves, too. Think the Gladiator film.
Oh, and there were some gladiators that loved the arena and couldn't go anywhere else.
Izzit ok if I stage a thieves' raid on the castle? We won't usurp the throne or anything, but the royal treasury would be depleted slightly of coin and a hell lot of smashed windows and vandalism.
"Oh, oh, dear me, sir. Those rags aren't fitting for a young gentleman like you. Come! Admire my new set of traveller's clothes with a hood! It can be yours for thirty gold coins, sir."
"Ye want a sword? Well here ya go. Long, graceful. A beauty, that. And maybe you'd fancy a crossbow, sir? Of delicate wood-make, imported from Sovaria. The whole lot's sixty gold coins, sir."
"Crowbar? Sure mate. Gimme a fiver and the thing's all yours. Oh, and the lockpick over there sells for ten. Or twenty. Go ask the bloke who owns it."
The rider chuckled to himself, as he blew all his power away. The richies here had fat purses, but nary an eye for pickpockets he had seen or sensed. Well, besides the townsfolk's pockets he'd heard that only the castle had anything worth pinching, but the guard could have surely doubled in the last hour or so. But to hell with that. He needed money.
He rounded over to the back of the castle, avoiding the guardhouse. He stayed hidden, concealed in a bush. When he was sure nobody was there, he leapt up onto the wall, and scaled it. He went for the nearest window. Coming out of it were strange smells, and the bubbling sound of brewing potions. It piqued his curiosity very much, so he took out his new crowbar and silently wedged it open. He put one delicate boot inside. Then the other. It appeared to him that he had stepped inside a wizard's room. Hmm. He snatched a few bottles of mysterious liquid from their clamps, then quietly continued on to pry open the golden chests.
Character sheet
appearence: http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?t=79802
name: Hephaestus 'The Scourge' Decimator
age: 32
gender: Male
nationality:(optional) Roman
weapons: (pic or description) 1 spiked nine-tailed whip with hooks on each end, and a gauntlet with retractable spikes
work outside being a gladiator: (what else do you do): Prison guard
Bio: Heph was born to a noble family of Roman soldiers, all known for their ruthlessness in battle one way or another. Hephaestus grew up and became a man, old enough to enlist in the army. Much to his disappointment, he wasn't sent to the front lines of the Empire: rather, he oversaw the transportation of slaves from the battlefield to the gladiator pit. He was eventually imprisoned and thrown in the pit himself for ruthlessness to prisoners (30% of his cargo made it), but he still kept the nine-tailed whip he used from his service as an overseer and fought savagely and fiercely. He was eventually given the chance to be freed, but he refused and continues fighting.
Pets(optional): A menacing, drooling dog called Salvum (Latin: to rip)
Extra: his signature move before finishing an opponent is slapping them across the face.
