Bio

Hi and welcome!

I started roleplaying about 18 years ago and have recently returned to it because I missed it. I most like adventurous sci fi and fantasy, or more slice of life to action action filled modern day magic and mutants. I'm not into fandoms anymore and I'm not looking for romance roleplays either.

Often people create dark characters with heavy pasts. I do that sometimes too, but my character will then have a 'that's just life. Deal with it' attitude instead of feeling sorry for themselves. I also enjoy playing characters without such a heavy past. I enjoy the sciences so playing a scholar or mechanic is right up my alley. I also practise martial arts, but thougg I oike playing fighters, they are more the stealth characters than the muscled ones. I don't like hormonal (teenage) characters. I don't take death lightly so unless I'm playing an assassin my characters will look for ways to avoid murder.

Lastly, I love being a GM and controlling an entire world. I have some sci fi and modern fantasy worlds in my mind which I would like to play out here. I'm also a regular player, mostly casual where description is limited to what's necessary rather than describing every step, scent, bite or thought that occurs.

So that's a little about me. How about you?

I would enjoy being a medic, most of my characters tend to end up in a medical field and I have real life knowledge as well!

Updated. Real life experience would help with the feeling the rp gets. Any second skills your character may have?
Hi guys, I probably didn't explain it well enough. I intend for this to be a small ship with a crew of about 4. That's why I'm asking for more than one interest per person. A captain can easily be a weapons specialist as well and as I suppose any captain knows how to pilot a ship, they could always be a back-up pilot if the first pilot can't carry out their job. Perhaps there's an engineer with a love for weapons, or a pilot who happens to know first aid enough to be the medic. With a small crew you make do with what you got.

If anybody would like to change their submission with this explanation, just let me know. So far these are your submissions:

@Zhaeth: captain/weapons guy
@Conscripts: captain/navigator
@Illiren: Pilot/weapons guy/chef
@cashmeoutside: Pilot/engineer/contact
@Helo: Muscle/mechanic/pilot
@spencerishere: Medic/alien tech specialist
@JewelProphet30: Medic/chef
@Sierra: unknown

With two captains I could make two crews (two separate rp's). I also see two pilots, two engineers and one medic. So I need one more medic (again, this can be a second trait/interest for a character) and one more engineer/mechanic would be handy for cashmeoutside, so a pilot doesn't have to leave his chair to go fix the ship. Sierra? What would you be interested in?

I like the additions of Chef and alien tech specialist. Not sure what a navigator would do, but I'm fine with that.
@Sierra It's a small ship, crew of 3 or 4 people. Perhaps as the story develops a bigger ship can be acquired, but I want to start out with one character per person and a small crew so people will get to know each other faster
@Blue2 Probably medic

Any second interests for your character?
@spencerishere @Conscripts Any idea on what you would like to play?

@Ophidian What kind of race do you have in mind?
Edit November 24th:
I we're basically full. Might agree to one more captain but no other characters (or you should know 3 others willing to join)

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a small group of people for a sci fi questing adventure in the world I have in mind. The sci fi world I got thought out is kind of star trek for technology (ie stun weapons, faster than light technology, space bending, forcefields) though with a more grim setting than the ideal world star trek likes to portray. It's more of a firefly world, with a central government in the solar systems close to earth, less tight control around that and unexplored space further ahead. Humans and a handful of thought-out alien races.

The story plays in the less tightly controlled regions, starting off with a ship crew looking for a new ship as the old one broke down beyond repair. From there the crew would take on missions, quests, to earn money. In the lesser controlled regions there would still be rules and guilds, but there would also be bounty hunters, mercenaries, space pirates and unexplored regions for plenty of opportunities to quest. I have several quests for the crew to choose from each time so it really feels like they go their own way. They can ferry people, transport goods, hunt criminals, look for lost treasure, grow their crew, whatever you guys fancy. I have some story ideas that could run on the background which may or may not draw the character(s) into a bigger plot, depending on your choices.

As you can read I intend for this to be a long-term thing. For that reason I have a few rules.

-Characters must be over 18.
-I want people who will post daily. I don't require entire chapters per post, but since all characters are dependant on each other I don't want people to have to wait because one person flunks out for a week.
-If you can't post regularly for a while, I will step in and take over your character's point of view until you get back. I'm willing to discuss your character with you, though.
-All characters must have different jobs on the ship. Double jobs are allowed though. I encourage each character to have a back-up trait or even two and if that overlaps it's alright.
-I want to create a Discord channel for the group (as soon as I figure out how) so we can keep in touch and keep the roleplay going.

I need a crew that fits together. I need a Captain, which is a mandatory first trait for one character. This person will be in charge of the group whenever decisions need to be made and he or she gets to decide whether the decisions are made through concensus or not.

Next to captain you can think of other jobs to be your first or second or third trait. For example:
-Pilot
-Engineer/mechanic
-field medic
-Muscle
-person with handy contacts
-weapon's specialist
-what you think of

The first three are mandatory to be covered by the crew (can be as second traits, though)

I prefer my crew to be human, though I may allow one alien in the crew if you can convince me you have your alien thought out.

Please let me know if you are interested in a long-term roleplay and what kind of role(s) you would like to fulfill. If the role you wanted to play is already mentionned by someone else, just let me know. Perhaps someone changes their mind or leaves the group. I could also make more than one roleplay for this setting if enough people are interested.

Do you think that it would smart to move my character or wait to see what Cori and Alexander do first?
I was thinking she could head towards Washington state to get as far away from the DC as possible, through a transfer of hospitals or something

Do you want to be confronted by Cori and Alexander? They could go to the hospital to either investigate someone getting injured by a super or someone getting injured who is suspected to be a super. It's also possible they are sent to overlook the screening with the Ray, where your nurse carried out the test, Alexander would sent so that any super wanting to retalliate can't use their power while Cori rounds them up. Maybe Jake could be called to have his blood checked?

When the woman he'd seen in the file picture came in, Alexander stood up and looked back at her. He had a few smart remarks for her, but these people had no sense of humour. Since he would be around this woman a lot in the near future he decided against any of those remarks at this time. She would be his boss for the coming time after all. He would end up pissing her off soon enough, he guessed. That was inevitable when they hated you for breathing air even before they ever met you and now was not the time to fight. A couple of years ago he would have chosen differently, but he'd learned to accept him place.

She intended to use him to get higher up. At least she didn't deny that. He preferred brutal honesty to gentle lies and she seemed like she would say exactly what was on her mind. Alexander bit his tongue and schooled his face to be as blank as he could muster. He folded his hands behind his back, taking on a stance that said he was no threath to her, just waiting for orders. He may not have a power he could use against normals, just being a super was enough to make them expect you to attack them with invisible forces anytime they turned their backs on him. Standing like this usually helped avoid aggression.

Alexander wondered how this day would turn out. He guessed they were already assigned a job, though he had no idea what that was. As his new boss, it was her job to brief him. Would she want to question him first or would she get on with it?

@Kidd
"Oh honey, no. Not a bad way." She brought her hand to touch your cheek. "You're like him in that you can't sit still. Family life, settling down, living simple... He tried. He really did. For your sake he tried but it wasn't for him. He was an adveturer, and so are you. He wanted to see things, just like you. He wanted to be out ther, to help people, defend the weak. He had this picture in his heas that he could help build a better place and it wasn't happening by living a simple family life."

Mom sighed deeply and for a moment seemed lost in thought. Then she shook her head. "So how much money do you have saved up? And how much will you make tomorrow?"

Through the window a downpour of rain gave the lamp lit courtyard below a sad look. Two men in long coats hurried about, one holding an umbrella to shelter himself from the rain, the other using a file bag for much the same reason. They looked like sad miniatures from the twenty-seventh store of the government's headquarters in their quest to control and regulate supers.

The window in the briefing rooms of these floors couldn't open, an automatic climate system took care of the temperature and humidity throughout the whole building. It was equipped with what had been state-of-the-art technology thirteen years ago when the building was designed.

The tv in the room was tuned in to this year's presidential speech, but Alexander wasn't listening. He knew what she was going to say. The halls had been buzzing with the news for days. The agency was quite excited now that the research was finally finished and the Ray approved. It would be a turning point in history indeed, though not a pleasant one if you were a super. Oh well, for him it didn't matter anymore. He was already registered, assigned a job and deemed under control.

Alexander followed the movements of the two black spots representing men down below until they disappeared inside the building, then looked at the clock. It was about time for his new handler to show up. She was his third handler in four years, the previous two both moving up the ladder after having worked with Alexander for a coule of years. With the last one they had caught that Rufus guy, effectively shutting down a significant Blue Jay cell in New York after nearly six months of field work. His handler had gotten a promotion for that. Alexander had been cleared of punishment for whatever they had accused him of this time.

Alexander turned off the tv as the Alaskan president finished her speech, grabbed the info of his new handler and flopped down on the couch, looking it over one more time. Cori Woods, a twenty-nine year old agent. She was young for a handler. Both his previous handlers had been above fourty. She had quite some years in the agency behind her though. She must be good at what she did to have made it this far so quickly. He wondered if her age would make her a little more receptive towards a super. Probably not though, since this was the agency that fought to suppress them. Most people who worked here had been taught from a young age that fear and hatred were the right emotions when dealing with a super.

Albino. That could be a plus. It would automatically turn people's attention to her, allowing Alexander to work from the shadows as he did best. And with that Ray to be put to use, Alexander guessed a lot of unwilling, unregistered supers would surface. Their department would be busy.
