Winter

Winter had stashed her bags somewhere safe and was on her way to where the gun shot had come from when she heard several more ring out in the distance. Really, this was just getting ridiculous. But she could only deal with so many things at once, so she continued in the direction she was heading. She carried only a small dagger she'd lifted off the corpses from earlier with her, hoping that maybe if she was ill-equipped (and in heavy, cumbersome skirts to boot) she'd be less inclined to violence. She had a good streak going, and Winter wasn't looking to break it any time soon. 

It was too easy to find the origin of all the commotion – she just followed the police officers swarming the scene. Hiding in the shadows, she crept closer, trying to get a better handle on the situation. A corpse could be seen on the ground, thick crimson blood pooling around it. Winter felt an eyebrow twitch in annoyance.

"Piece of shit, but this one was Chief Lennox's brother," one of the officers standing over the body said. 

"Think it was the Nathals?" asked another.

"Nah, they're not looking to start nothin'. Probably just jumped the wrong guy and got what was coming." He ran a hand through his hair and continued, "Either way, we better catch whoever did it fast. Chief's not gonna be happy."

Because of course of all the bodies to drop in this city, they'd gone for the police chief's brother.

Winter melted back into the shadows, thinking of who it'd been and where those brats could've gone. Angelo, Kai, Jax, and the twins all carried pistols. Angelo preferred not to use his gun, and Kai was still on the ship, but Jax could be brutal when pushed and Sakuya was trigger-happy. At least she knew whose food to poison when they all got back to the ship. Winter prayed that this was just normal city crime, but something was telling her she wasn't that lucky.

She heard whispered voices then, coming from somewhere above her. Looking up, Winter searched for the source. After a moment she found them, sneaking into an open window. She let out a huff and snuck along the side of the building, finding a more discreet way to climb up the wall. Jumping onto the roof, Winter sat down, leaning over to hear what these darn kids were saying. She was still unaware of a third presence in the room with them.
