Darren moved over to his next date, Imogen Badcocke. He chuckled a little at the surname and looked up from his list of names to see where the table number was. He spotted a cute, little blonde sitting in a navy blue dress with a white ruffle around the neck. He could see her legs crossed beneath the table and saw that they pretty much didn’t seem to end. He gulped a little and made his way over. He actually felt a little nervous, this girl was seriously cute and he wasn’t used to feeling nervous. Why the hell did he feel nervous?

Imogen looked up and spotted a very tall, bearded gentleman making his way towards her table. He’d arrived just before her, if she recalled correctly, and he was definitely a looker. She could tell he took care of himself just by the way he walked. She stood up and held a hand out to him to shake it. "Hiya, it’s me, Imogen." She smiled a little at the dumb reference to one of her favourite childhood games and Darren snorted with laughter as he shook her hand firmly. "Baldur’s Gate fan, eh? Least I know you’re not too young for me by that reference. I’m Darren. It is most definitely a pleasure to meet you."

They both sat down in their chairs and looked across the table to each other nervously. There was definitely an initial attraction between the two. They smiled to each other and waited for the bell to ring. The waiter walked over and offered them some drinks.

"I’ll take a glass of red wine please."
"I’ll take a glass of red wine please."

They both looked to each other and laughed heartily as the waiter looked between the two and began to pour them each a glass of red wine. Moving away from the table, the waiter shook his head and moved onto the next table. The bell rang and Darren contained his laughter long enough to squeeze a question out.

"So, besides being a fan of old computer games and having good taste in drinks, what is a beautiful girl like you doing in a place like this?" Imogen let her laughter abate and took a small sip of her glass of wine and licked her lips lightly to catch the drops that her mouth had missed.

"Well I’m here t’get m’parents off m’back ‘bout gettin’ a fella truth be told. What ‘bout ya?" She gently placed her glass down and leaned forward on the table, her chin resting in her palms as she watched her newest date. "Well I’m here to try and find someone that is pretty much it. It’s been six years since I last had anything serious so that’s probably as good a reason as any to try more extreme measures." He gave Imogen a dazzling smile and took a sip of his own drink before setting it back down, his fingers playing with the stem of the glass.

"So Imogen, where are you from? Your accent sounds… Irish? I think."

"Correct, sir. I am from a small town called Carrigower but you won’t know where that is unless you’re from me homeland. What about ya? I daren’t try t’guess where you’re from." Imogen giggled and sipped from her glass.

"I’m from the beautiful vistas of Poulsbo in Washington State. I love the rainy, mountain air.” He held his arms out and took in a deep breath then coughed as he realised he’d breathed in too much, too fast. “Oh… wow… sorry about that." He pounded his fist on his chest and cleared his throat before grabbing is drink and taking a mouthful.

Imogen let out a light chuckle and considered the man across from her. He was attractive, seemed sweet and was definitely flattering. "So what do ya do for a livin’, Darren?"

"Well I’m a personal trainer and physical therapist. I tend to lose myself in my work but since it helps others, I’m okay with it. What about you? Surely you do something equally interesting as yourself?" He grinned and leaned back in his chair, his right arm resting over the back of it as he watched her.

Tucking her hair behind her ears, Imogen pursed her lips and smiled. "Actually I’m a single mother. I have two beautiful lil twin girls. They’re called Jenna and Jemma." She slipped her picture of her girls from her purse and slid it across the table to Darren. He picked it up and smiled at the image. "They’re gorgeous, just like their mommy." He handed the image back and his fingers brushed against hers.

Imogen’s face exploded in heat and she chewed the inside of her cheek as she took the photograph back from her date. She carefully placed it back in her bag as she swallowed and took another drink before continuing. "But besides m’two girls, I work part time as a waitress. So nothin’ quite as interestin’ as yaself." She lightly shrugged her shoulders and gave a small smile.

"Nah, each to their own. We aren’t all meant to be the same thing. That’s why we’re all different, right?" He sat forward and placed his hands on the table and watched her. She really was pretty and she seemed sweet and interesting too. This was a far better date than his last, Imogen at least asked questions about him instead of it being very one sided like it had been with Mauriah.

"That's true. Fair play, bud, fair play. So... what do ya do for fun?" Imogen crossed her legs the other way and leaned forward on her knees as she listened in to Darren's reply.

"Well I love listening to music and do a lot of hiking, water sports, sports, running... anything athletic you'll probably find me trying it out. And you?"

"Well I love hikin' too when I get the chance! It's grand doin' it while listenin' to music. Then ya can stand at the top o' a mountain and just air guitar your heart out!" She grinned like a cat that had got the cream and blushed as she admitted what she did on her hikes.

Darren laughed and sat forward further, clapping his hands together. "That's brilliant! Let me guess, you do something like this..." Darren then stood up and began to do air guitar right there in the middle of the main room, to absolutely no music that made sense. Imogen snorted with laughter and covered her mouth with her hand as she let it all out. "That's exactly what I do!"

Grinning at how much he'd managed to entertain Imogen, Darren was pleased as punch with himself and sat down, chuckling away with her and then felt his stomach drop as he heard the bell ringing. "Damn, that's a shame. I was enjoying myself."

Imogen nodded and smiled brightly at Darren. "Me too. It was lovely t'meet ya Darren. We'll talk soon?" She held her hand out to shake Darren's hand and he gently took hers and kissed the back of it, giving her a little wink as he did so. "Definitely. Pleasure, Miss Badcocke. Hell of a name by the way..." He smirked at her and then waved before making his way to his next date for the evening.

Imogen sat with a minor blush on her face and pursed her lips as she smiled to herself.

Lana wrinkled her nose at the sight of hot rod playing with his toothpick and raised an eyebrow at the look on his face. She hated when guys looked at her like she was a precious little doll and she had to stop herself from beating the look off of his face. She scoffed at his words, rolled her eyes and wandered past him, her shoulder hitting into his side a little as she walked back over to her table of drinks. She saw the crate of beers on the table with the food and looked around for the security chicks that had brought them out.

She spotted the one that wasn’t dealing with hot rod heading back to the smoker where she looked like she was just as ready to hit the guy in the face as she was and she smirked. She whistled over to her and waved when Lorna looked up. Lana pointed at the beers and then pointed to her table and gave a thumbs up with a questioning look at Lorna. Lorna nodded and gave a small thumb up as she realised what this strange little creature was meaning by her motions.

Taking the agreement, Lana grabbed the crate and brought it over to her table where all the drinks seemed to have accumulated. That worked fine by her as she loved being able to see who had been drinking most so that she could slip some things out of pockets when they weren’t expecting it. Although she didn’t plan to do that tonight due to it being her neighbours, but it was always nice to know everyone’s habits that lived around her. She noticed a new guy, one she didn’t recognise and was very attractive, standing nearby with a drink but she didn’t know if he was a crasher or a tenant so she kept quiet for now.

Lana sat around with a cup of pure vodka in her left hand and sipped at it as she watched a rather angry fella wander over to her table. She raised her eyebrows in surprise as he downed a shot without a second thought and she couldn’t help but smiling appreciatively. She heard him muttering and then looked over to the media circus that he’d just escaped from. “Bothersome lot, aren’t they?” She nodded her head in the direction that he had come from and filled his shot cup with vodka again.

Lana’s head shot up and over to one of the young women standing by the food tables and smoker as she screamed at something. Lana wondered if shit had hit the fan already and awaited the response from the media circus before she realised that it was just one neighbour scaring another and she laughed, rolling her eyes. “At least that was a harmless scream…” She saw the handsome man talking to the angry man. Had he just called him detective? Seemed she was filling up a cop’s cup, oh well. So long as she kept herself clean she’d be fine.

She noticed one of the women from the yellow building looking over to the detective and the hot guy and she smiled and waved over to her. “Fancy a drink? We’ve got beer, vodka and more vodka. Come have a cup, I’ve got mixers!” Lana began to organise the cups and set the mixer bottles against rows of cups with pre-poured vodka and listened in to the conversation that the two men were now having until something else took her attention away.

Staring out the weird little bike man, Lorna kept a deadpan look on her face. She couldn’t stop herself from snorting with laughter at the guy’s comment of how he could ‘fuck shit up’ and she could hardly breathe from the sheer comedy behind it. “Was I fuckin’ talkin’ to you? No, so keep your fuckin’ BS to yourself, shitbird.” Her voice was hard but her face showed no emotion. Like a little twerp like him could fuck anything up. He was a blowhard in her eyes now and she just turned away from him as he clearly wasn’t worth her time anymore. Alicia could deal with his shit; she didn’t have time for idiots.

Going back to the smoker, Lorna took her plate back and thanked Lawson for keeping it warm for her in her absence. She then saw the married couple that had moved in a while back that were friendly with Lawson and she gave a smile and wave to them as they came over. They acted cute and it made Lorna sick to her stomach. She definitely wasn’t into the whole lovebird scene and thought it was best kept behind closed doors but she would never say anything to them about it. That would just be plain rude.

Lorna heard the comment from Alicia and she gripped her beer bottle and spun around so fast that it would have made anyone looking at her dizzy. She tossed the bottle directly at their patio and heard it shattering on the wall above the window where the glass and beer splashed down and dropped on top of Tank’s motorcycle and she grinned. Well it may not have hit Alicia because the woman was too used to her methods but she had hoped that it might have hit Tank but oh well, dirtying up his bike was good enough in her eyes. "Sorry about Leash, Lawson. She's just out to get hit today it seems." She rolled her eyes and tried to hide the blush on her cheeks.

Turning back to her other neighbours, Lorna nodded appreciatively at Mrs. White when she mentioned that Mr. White, Cam, was a former Marine as well. Three Marines in two buildings in close proximity was a rare thing when they were no longer on duty. It was a nice change of pace from being surrounded by civvies all the time. “Yeah, if you ever wanna grab a beer and care to exchange stories that you’re willin’ to share, I’m open for it.” She grabbed another bottle of beer and opened it on the top of the table before taking a swig and holding it in her free hand.

Eating the concoction created by El Jefe had definitely fucked her brain up with the cold and she widened her eyes at the suggestion from Mrs. White and tried it out. Her brain hurt significantly less and she had such a look of relief on her face that she couldn’t help but give a genuine and warm smile to the woman. “Thank you kindly, ma’am. That definitely helped. Need to remember that trick in future.” She then realised she hadn’t properly introduced herself to them. Holding her hand out to both of them in turn, she shook their hand firmly and smiled. “The name is Lorna, by the by. Pleasure to meet you both properly.”

Valona had remained in her owl state, watching from the rafters above and peered down at their newest arrival. So he was half-orc, that was surprising. Valona had not encountered many half-orcs in her time travelling but she had come across a few but had barely interacted with them beyond webbing them up for trying to steal her stuff. She didn't trust anyone at the best of times but her bad interactions with orcs and half-orcs had caused her to be even more wary than she would be normally. When she saw the newest arrival to the storehouse come in on Kyra's allowance, she hopped from foot to foot and watched from high above.

As he moved over to the fire without a second thought, Valona continued to watch. If her owl eyes could narrow, they would have. Then an idea, an entertaining idea, struck and she had to see it through. Flying down to the edge of the hearth on the opposite side of the fire in front of Malkus, Valona hopped a little as the owl and stared at him through the flames for a moment before breaking the spell and becoming herself once again.

She was crouched on the hearth in the exact spot that the owl version of herself had been and she was staring at Malkus like a demented, rat tailed hair that stuck out every which way and was half wet and half dry after her time in the heat of the storehouse. Her eyes were wide and crazy looking and she tilted her head to the left slowly as she watched him, the flames making her face look bright and insane. Her cloak was over her pack and made her look hunched and deformed. She said nothing but instead began muttering to herself like she generally did. "...half-orc...stinks like dog...food...smells...don't like the look..."

Cass had pretty much walked onto the heap of shit bus in a daze, unsure how fit for partying they would all be after riding in this sorry excuse for a bus. She sat in the seat in front of Murphy and Claire and braced herself to fall out of the crackden windows of the bus at any moment. Although Cass did enjoy the speed that the bus went and she couldn't help but chuckle as she looked back and saw Claire clinging to her big brother for dear life and spouting every curse word she had ever uttered in her life.

When they pulled up to their destination, Cass was surprised that Claire didn't kiss the ground like she had earlier but then she probably remembered the warnings of catching parasites from the dirty ground. Cass couldn't help but giggle to herself at the thought of it and was only pulled back into the present by Claire whistling and the sound of her name. Grinning Cass gave a couple of nods and wandered forward towards the hotel as she heard Claire, Murphy and Desh exchanging words. It appeared that Murphy was exactly as Claire had described and listening to the brother-sister duo was as entertaining as Cass had ever imagined.

As they moved inside the building she heard Claire squealing and she bent over double laughing at her partner in crime acting like a daft little school girl. Then she realised she wasn't as hot inside the hotel and she looked around and found then air conditioning. Her face looked like the cat that had got the cream. She took a moment to enjoy the cool air from the unit before running forward to where Claire was sitting and she practically sat on Claire's lap, squishing her beneath her frame before shimmying over her and sitting in the corner of the booth beside her. "Sorry pal, y'know I love me a good corner." She winked at her friend and fell back in her seat laughing, her hands holding her sides at the innuendo.

Happy that the restraints on the prisoner were definitely not going to come loose, Victor looked to the young woman that was sitting beside her hurting sister and he took a deep breath and began to speak in a calming, gentle voice. “I am sorry mademoiselle, there is nothing that you can do for your sister beyond being ‘ere for ‘er.” He walked forward and stood within Kris’s eye sight and gave her an apologetic smile.

He heard the banging on the door and Zoie’s distinctive voice. “I will be back momentarily, excusez-moi.” He made his way to the door to remove the barricade from it. He jumped again as another gruffer, more masculine voice called out and he flinched. He did not know this voice but Zoie had already given the go ahead so Victor continued as he was bidden.

As he did he began to fuss around his new patients and did all he could with what limited supplies that he had left. He knew that he had to work fast because Maria needed fresh blood and he had no idea what types everyone had. He could quickly run the tests but would need some help from others to gather it all. Once he was done with the quick patch ups for his latest patients, Victor ran to the door of the infirmary and grabbed two bodies that were unharmed and ready for action.

“Could you gather me small samples of the bloods of every person outside of the courthouse that is still breathing and return it to me post ‘aste, s'il vous plaît?” He gave them a quick bow of the head as they ran out and began to gather the blood samples for him. He was grateful that they did not question him and he wondered why at first until he realised he was still covered in blood from helping Maria and his new patients. There was no time to deal with that right now.

Gathering what he needed, Victor grabbed another body to guard the prisoner and then made his way all around the courthouse gathering blood samples. He crept into the room where a snoring Richard lay on a sofa and pricked his finger to take the sample before placing a plaster on the wound as he could not suck it clean himself. He then made his way to the front doors where Meghna and Siddarth were standing guard and took their samples, labelling them appropriately with his pen.

He then ran up to the clocktower and found the driver from earlier that had called himself Black James that knew Miss Zoie. “Apologies, I must take some blood for tests, s’il vous plait. Just one moment.” He took the sample and was quickly off again with a quick “Merci!” thrown in as he left as fast as he had arrived.
One of the two runners had found Ash and Zoie out on their rounds of the defences of the place and quickly, and breathlessly, asked them for their blood. “We need blood samples for ‘eh doc, he needs to test blood types right sharp. Maria’s life depends on it.” The young man patiently waited and carefully took the blood from Ash but not from Zoie before darting off back to the infirmary quick as a flash. He knocked on the door and found Victor hunched over his little testing area with his notepad beside him with names and blood types dotted beside them as he tested each sample.

“Merci! Merci, merci, merci!” He took the samples and sent the runners back to their positions and began to run the rest of his tests. It appeared that they had a lot of variety in their blood types with only a few gaps so far. That was a good sign. He continued his work in finding a donor for Maria.

Having still not decided what to do about the Valkyrjur before her, Bryn just continued rolling silently down the road onto Smokey Road itself and she finally figured out that the mass amount of groaning was coming from the South. That meant that she was going to be going North, same general direction that the Valkyrjur appeared to be going.

She had been alone for so long that it didn’t seem right approaching a person now. She had been fine with the kid in the school, sure, but that was someone that posed her no threat. These two most definitely did. Then just as she had decided not to talk to them, the one not pulling the wagon began to come her way. Bryn grabbed her bat and waited for the inevitable threats and mudslinging to proceed but she was surprised when the woman worded a friendly warning to her and a proposition instead.

Perhaps now was the time to find people for a while before moving on once the coast was clear. If they knew of a possible safe area then it was worth going with them, wasn’t it? “Alright. Thanks.” She didn’t say much else but she decided not to start up Grace until it was time to move. Grace could purr as quiet as a kitten when she wasn’t going at higher speeds, so moving along at the pace of the horses on her bike wouldn’t cause much issue fortunately.

She followed the Valkyrie and quirked a brow at the question. Her work? Yes, it was, but it wasn’t something she wanted to share. This person was a complete stranger to her, why would she share information with a complete stranger. Just because this Valkyrie called Bridgette shared her information freely and willingly didn’t mean that Bryn would be doing the same. A simple grunt was all the answer that Bryn was willing to give, so this woman could take it however she damn well pleased.

Bryn would play nice eventually, but not until she knew their information wasn’t about to lead her into a worse situation than she would have been in without their warning. A false sense of security perhaps? Possibly not, but she didn’t want to be naïve about the situation. She knew the people in this world and she did not trust them.

As they made their way further onto the road, Bryn could see two other figures with the second Valkyrie and she scowled a little. She watched one climbing onto the wagon while the other rose up onto the back of the horse with the Valkyrie and she wondered where the two new faces had come from. Then she smelt the smoke and saw a house starting to burn. A distraction or something else? Bryn felt uncomfortable but knew that with a horde on their heels that numbers meant higher chance for her survival in this particular situation.

Ash was enjoying the laughter with Marc and was beginning to remember some of their high school moments together. That was until she saw Tim walking up to herself and Marc. She remained quiet and watched their faces as files were passed between the two men. Her brow furrowed slightly as she saw Marc looking towards her after he saw something that he quickly hid.

“Marc what-…” Her words were cut off as he took her by the arm and guided her out of the gym. She walked with him over to the picnic tables and she settled onto the bench and watched in silence as the two men exchanged words. Then Marc turned to her. Something about the look in his eyes made her body turn to stone and she could barely feel her limbs. Her insides were knotted and she struggled to swallow as she braced herself for what he was about to say. She knew it was bad news.

Her dress? Her prom dress? That couldn’t be… She had it sealed and stored in her parent’s house here in Grimm. Their home had the highest security that money could buy, there is no way that someone could have gained access to her parents’ home.

“Are you absolutely sure that it is my dress?” Tim asked the same question and Marc’s answer chilled Ashley to her core.

She felt her phone vibrating in her purse but she didn’t answer it. She had to process this information first. She watched as Marc and Tim exchanged words but she heard nothing, she was too inside her own head in that moment. She hadn’t been by her parents’ place since she’s arrived back in Grimm but all she wanted to do now was to go home and find her dress and pretend that this was a sad, sick joke.

She looked up to Marc with a blank face as he walked back over to her and she vaguely felt his arm curling around her shoulders. His voice sounded different, it wasn’t the same light tone that she had been talking to earlier. Had his face always had so many lines in it? She couldn’t remember. Her fingers twitched as she played with the hem of her dress and the clasp on her purse. His words hit her like a car going 90mph and she felt her chest caving in as she heard them.

Taking a full minute to control her breathing, her chest rose and fell quick and shallow as she tried to gather her thoughts together. She breathed through her nose and felt her lips thinning as she gripped her purse as if it was an anchor keeping her down to earth in this very moment. She roughly shrugged Marc’s arm off her shoulders and she stood up and began pacing back and forth on the concrete slabs. Her heels clicked, clacked and scraped as she made sudden movements and shifts in direction as she paced.

“W-what do you mean Atlas is dead?! This is just a sick joke, right? This can’t be real. This hasn’t happened! This is completely and utterly all a joke to get back at me for being a bitch in high school, isn’t it? It’s not funny y’know!” She was going to start hyperventilating soon. She had no idea how to process this. Her cell buzzed in her purse again and she angrily tore it out and held it up to her ear.

“What?!” Her usual pleasant and welcoming demeanour was gone and in its place was a woman on the brink of breakdown. Marc would hear a male voice talking down the phone to her and Ash’s eyes welled up even more than they already were and her jaw set in a straight, hard line.

“Fine. Bye.” She hung up the phone and shoved it back into her purse violently before closing it with a loud snap and throwing it across the table towards the grass just beyond. She crumpled into herself then and became a small ball crouched close to the ground with her hands in her hair and her shoulders shaking from the tears that were now pouring down her face.

Jasmin had not moved from her perch at the side of the gym hall for more than a second to grab a glass of rose wine from the bar. She wandered back over to where she had taken Ada's formerly deceased husband, Lawson, in order to calm him down. She hoped that Ada was alright and that she and Lawson had had a good conversation at the very least. Sipping on her drink, Jasmin glanced around the hall and spotted more than a few faces she had wished to never see again. One particular face was Nesha Jackson, a bitch on two legs rather than four, she had helped Atlas make her life absolute hell when they were screwing around. There was also Jewell Price who used to threaten her for money for her drug habit, although she was looking so much better than back in high school. Jasmin had to give her some kudos for that at least, so long as Jewell didn't try anything stupid she'd be civil. Nesha could just go suck on a lemon for all Jasmin cared.

"Well it seems that I shall be entering what is known as the single life Ma'am. Do you mind keeping an old Marine company for a bit? Or do you have some gent you need to get back to?"

Looking over to the source of the familiar voice, Jasmin smiled warmly at him and gave a sympathetic look that showed she understood exactly what he meant. "No, no gent for me. Hasn't been one for a good couple of years, at least not in a serious capacity. I'd be happy to keep you company though, also please call me Jess. Ma'am makes me feel so old." She rolled her eyes in a silly way and let out a small giggle. "Although, since you're now on the inside of the joke, my real name is actually Jasmin but let's keep that hush hush for now." A light peel of laughter followed her words and she ran her left hand through her hair and tucked it behind her ear as she watched Lawson's face.

Lawson perked a brow but nodded in understanding. "I see, well that explains a lot," he said before glancing around the room and taking note that Marc and Ash were trying to cover the fact that they were staring at them. "Though, from the look of things, we have two that are currently curious to what is going on." Jas looked over to where Ash and Marc were standing and she blushed as she realised that they were staring. The blush was semi-embarassment but also some anger. She still held some resentment towards Ashley for how she used to treat her in high school.

"I take it the talk didn't go how you planned?" She bit the lower corner of her lip as she let a gentle frown show across her face.

Lawson nodded slightly and then gave a quick shrug of his shoulders before he rolled them back. "No, it didn't but Ada always did have a way of wording thing to make them clear as crystal. I guess I just need to try to figure out now what to do with my life since the plan I had for the next few years of my life just got tossed to the side. Not exactly sure what to do, didn't think divorce was going to be in my future. Granted I doubt being a young widow and having her husband come back from the dead were in Ada's plans either."

Jasmin gave him a gentle pat on the shoulder and gave a shrug of resignation. "People never do think about divorce when they get married, and if they do? Well they shouldn't be getting married in the first place." Lawson nodded in understanding, he hadn't thought about divorce when he married Ada but part of him knew if Kai stepped back into the picture he would lose her. At the time, he was actually okay with the idea but they had married under unique circumstances.

She leaned back against the wall and looked to Lawson. "You'll find your way somehow. Call it a gut feeling. Although, taking some time to yourself might not be a bad thing. Unless you spent the last five years alone in which case I'd say make sure to find someone you can talk to and rely on otherwise you may go mad." Her eyes widened and she grimaced before she spotted a couple of chairs at the edge of the hall were free. Lawson looked away for a bit, she had no idea how much time he had spent alone.

"Come on, lets grab a seat while we chat." She smiled at him warmly and made her way over before sitting down and crossing her legs. Lawson looked back over to her and followed her over it the seats, sitting down and fiddling with his Stetson.

"Funny you should say that. What the doctors told me. I was a POW for four of the last five years. Doesn't give you a lot of time to talk but it really screws with your head when you're the only one you'll talk to," he admitted before sitting back fully in the chair and letting his legs sprawl out before him. Jasmin's eyes widened in surprise and her mouth hung open a little as she considered what to say to that kind of news.

She uncrossed her legs and sat forward on the edge of her chair as she looked to Lawson. She didn't smile but she tried her best not to give him a very sympathetic look, he'd get enough of those from everyone, he didn't need them from her. "I cannot begin to imagine how that must have felt but, even though we've only just met, you can talk to me anytime. A friendly ear can never go amiss."

He nodded slightly. He wanted to talk but he wasn't sure where to start and there was so much he wasn't allowed to speak about because of security issues. Running his hand through his hair he glanced towards her. "Tell me Ada won't get hurt by that Hawaiian again.." He knew he didn't love Ada the way he thought he had all those years but he still didn't want to see her get hurt again.

She ran her hands through her hair as she considered his request. As long as she'd known Kai, he'd never seemed the type to hurt anyone. What went down with Ada after graduation was a surprise to a lot of people, Ada included. Nothing showed signs that that was where their relationship was headed. Her eyes were thoughtful and her face was showing clear signs of thinking. "No one can tell you that, but what I can tell you is that their break up was a shock to everyone. If you want my opinion on the matter, I don't think he will. In fact I get the feeling he'll do all he can to make her feel nothing but happy and giddy. He's just that kind of guy despite what you may think. He's one of the few that never treated me like I didn't exist during high school. That's got to count for something, right?" She looked to Lawson with a hopeful look and a tiny smile on her face.

Lawson nodded slightly as he bent his knees and placed his Stetson on one of them. Her words helped a bit but he knew what all she had been through because of Kai and he was still worried. Even if she was not with him, he was not exactly comfortable with the idea that they were back together. Rubbing his face with his hands he looked over towards her and smiled faintly. "Well I can't exactly see why anyone would treat you like you didn't exist."

"I'll be back in a sec." Standing up, Jas strode over to the bar. She grabbed a couple cups of punch and brought them back over, her handing holding one out to Lawson. "Thirsty?" She raised a questioning eyebrow and left a warm, soft smile lingering across her features.

Reaching out he took the drink and his smile grew a little bit. "Thank you," he said kindly before taking a small sip to see exactly what it was. Was just as he expected some high school punch to taste like; spiked to hell and back. Tipping the glass back he downed it in one swift drink before clearing his throat. "So, as much of a come on as it may sound, what's a girl like you doing alone in a place like this?" he asked with a slight chuckle.

A light peel of laughter rang out as Jas rolled her eyes and hit him playfully on his non-stetsoned knee. "You know that kid with the braces? Who had massive, frizzy hair and absolutely no dress sense? Who was fat, unfit and looked like the dog's dinner? Yeah, that used to be me." She held her hands out, palm up and motioned them across her lap as if to say 'all of this'. "No one here knows who I am or recognises me except for Ada. I get the feeling Ashley and Marc don't believe I'm Ada's cousin but that can be dealt with later." She shrugged her shoulders lightly and showed a slightly defeated smile. She really didn't want to deal with Ashley, Marc she was fine with, but Ashley... No.

He couldn't help but chuckle as he listened. It was hard to believe but there were always those ones that were called ugly ducklings, some turned into swans. It seems that was the case with Jas. "Well that explains a lot."

"And as to why I'm here alone, I'm divorced and have not really had time to meet anyone because I work insane amounts of hours. In fact, this is my first holiday in a year so... I think that says a lot about me." She chuckled at the ridiculousness of her situation when she heard herself saying it out loud.

He perked a brow, she was divorced? "I can understand that. So tell, what words of wisdom can you as a divorcee give a soon to be divorced man?"

Jas drummed her fingers on her knees as she considered what advice she could give. Her divorce had been pretty messy and not something she ever expected to go through but she had. She had almost let it break her in the beginning but she soon found the drive to fight through and make more for herself than she had before. "Well your situation is a whole lot different than mine was but... Don't let it defeat you. Let it drive you." Her face was serious and she was looking off into the distance as she spoke.

He nodded, he guess it was as good as any advice he could be given at this point. He thought at first when he saw Ada and Kai together it would break him but after his and his soon to be ex-wife's talk he just figured he would need a reboot of some sort. Glancing around he noted the on goings of the place and felt, well out of place. Standing up he placed his empty cup on a table and looked over to Jas. Taking a drink from her cup, Jas looked up to Lawson as he stood and gave him a questioning look.

"Thanks," he said gratefully while he considered his next words. "I'm feelin' a bit out of place and well this food ain't exactly my idea of food. Care to join me for a burger and get out of here for a bit? My treat."

Well that was a bit of a shock. Surely he wasn't asking her out so soon after his talk with Ada? Why even would he ask her out? He was clearly still hung up so clearly she was reading things wrong. Why was she even thinking this much about it? Probably because he was cute, sweet and was going through a situation like she had been through; even if his was particularly more extreme on other levels than her own. Swallowing the sudden dryness in her throat, Jasmin smiled and gave a curt little nod as she stood up and smoothed her dress down. "That would be lovely. Thank you, Lawson."

Lawson smiled at her as he held his arm out, Jasmin laced her own through it before Lawson escorted her out of the gym. He couldn't stand catered food. He just wanted something he could actually enjoy and Jasmin seemed to be good company. He wasn't looking to jump back on the horse but he could use a friend right then and she seemed open to that at least. Stepping outside he led her to his truck and opened the door for her, his hand extended to help her up into the cabin before shutting the door and climbing into the driver seat. It was time for both of them to get away from the commotion.

Jasmin took Lawson’s hand with a gentle "Thank you." before climbing into the truck seat and getting herself buckled in. He was certainly better company than the rest of them inside the gym hall, that was for sure. She was glad to get out of the clamouring masses and into solitude again. It was where she worked best as a lawyer and as a person.
We did single posts at first, that'll be what you're thinking of. Then I figured with my new schedule it'd be faster to just collab.

Imogen considered the man before her and she couldn’t help but give a smile when he tripped over his own feet but it wasn’t in a cruel way, more just that it was adorable really. After she had finished rambling her introduction (that she had totally not been practicing all the way on the boat here, no sir) she listened to his reply. Maybe she had prematurely judged him. She could see his eyes lighting up ever so slightly when he mentioned games but then he seemed to close up again when he called himself very boring. Then he apologised for being, what Imogen considered, human and tripping up.

“Dinnae ya worry, we all trip from time t’time. It was adorable anyway, never fret.” A warm smile played on her face as she considered the guy across the table from her. He was only a year younger than her too which was nice, took even more of the edge off. In fact he made her feel very relaxed all things considered. She decided to save her travel stories to share for another time and opted to try and get him to open up about himself some more.

“Ya mentioned games. What kind o’ games do ya like playin’? Got any favourites?” Imogen had dabbled in games during high school but hadn’t had much time to spare when she had started to go off travelling and then with the twins coming along as a nice big surprise, she had pretty much lived a life of travel tickets, diapers and toys. It’d be nice to hear about things not to do with that side of her life for now, even if she really did want to gush about her girls she knew this wasn’t the best time to do it.

Kosuke seemed to wonder why she smiled when the Japanese male tripped up. But at least she didn’t seem to mind at all in all honesty, it made him feel more comfortable about himself and he felt like he could probably be even more relaxed than normal, not having to worry about his tripping antics or his clumsy attitude. “I guess so.” He answered ever so casually, just like always. Maybe he could get used to speaking to this female after all. Already seemingly interested.

”Oh, urm well…” He started his sentence before trying to remember EVERY game he has played from his childhood. But then again, using his observational skills from games he decided to keep it low to what he plays occasionally. ”I play many games, usually I play Super Mario Brothers on my 3ds and on the PS2 I will usually play Final Fantasy or Dark Cloud” He seemed to open up more slightly. Imogen leaned in as she listened to him talk, it was nice to see him opening up some more. She didn’t feel like this was so much of an uncaring date now.

”When I play my games, I feel solitude and I feel a lot of excitement because the most exciting thing that has happened to me was my grades and getting a job at gamestop… So yeah…”

“Well that’s not exactly a bad thing. Wha’ were your grades for? Ya meanin’ school or college? Not tha’ it matters but I jus’ mean that it’s good tha’ ya got excited over your grades no matter wha’ they were for.” A light nod of her head and a gentle smile of encouragement showed on her face and she took another sip of her water.

“Ya know, I used t’play Super Mario Brothers when I was at school. Was one o’ m’favourite games. Had it on the GameBoy Classic. I had ‘eh yellow one. Was one o’ m’favourite things to do when my lil sister didn’t steal it from me.” She laughed a little and rested her hands in her lap as she crossed her legs under the table. Her right foot began to bounce a little as she continued. “Did ya ever find that King Bowser Koopa was too easy to beat sometimes? Like, I felt like ya just had t’mash buttons to win!”

”It was for school, didn’t go to college and just immediately got the job at gameshop” Kosuke mentioned as he smiled softly at her. Imogen tucked her hair behind her left ear as she saw him smile. “Yeah, I got quite worried for my grades for obvious reasons. I know I wasn’t top of my class, but I wasn’t at the bottom of my class either. So to get high grades was very nice.” He spoke with honesty as he remembered when he got his grades and opened that envelope. It was a very exciting moment indeed and his parents congratulated him. It was nice to see him opening up like this, Imogen listened intently and nodded along as he explained his story.

Suddenly, Kosuke’s face lit up the moment she mentioned she used to play Super Mario Brothers on the classic gameboy. Imogen smiled brightly when she saw Kosuke getting really into his element and she couldn’t help but keep the smile as she listened to him. Kosuke really felt like the game was so good and addictive for it’s time. ”He really was!” Kosuke answered. “It was either fireballs and a button mash or just rush to the edge of the map and the bridge fell, then Bowser just went bye bye, it did kinda frustrate me when toad kept saying that the princess was in another castle”

Kosuke realised he spoke just a bit too much and instantly clammed back up and swept his hair back normally “sorry, I love the games a lot” Imogen just gave a light chuckle and waved her hand dismissively at him. “Don’t ya worry your pretty lil’ head. I enjoyed watchin’ ya talk ‘bout them, ya really lit up and that was lovely t’see.” At that moment the bell rang for the men to move tables and Imogen jumped in her seat, not realising how much time had passed.

“Oh that’s a shame! It was lovely talkin’ to ya Kos… Ko… Kosu-ke? Kosuke? Am I sayin’ that right? I’m sorry, it’s m’accent.” She giggled a little and gave an apologetic smile before reaching a hand out to him to shake. Kosuke took her hand and gave a slight bow of his head before waving to Imogen. As he walked away he stumbled over the leg of the table as his foot caught on it. He almost fell flat on his face again but managed to correct himself just before he hit the floor. So embarrassing. He made his way towards his next date.
