Pokemon Colosseum: The Light Extinguished

"Sooooo, what do you think Professor Birek wants? I've been here plenty of times in the past but he's never even spoken to me before. I mean, I play with his grandson Joel all the time but the old man never talks to me..."

Sean looked up and smiled at the girl as she approached and sat down. "Hi!" He said with a smile. "My name is Sean an-," Sean was forced to break off the conversation for a moment as the Beldum floated up and looked her directly in the face as Quilava looked up at her for a moment before turning back to Sean leaving only the Beldum to stare at Veena. "Beldum." It said simply as it floated in front of her for a moment before floating above Sean's head. Sean sighed. "And these two are my Beldum and Quilava." He said as he looked up at Beldum. "You really need to learn to be a bit more polite." He said as the Beldum floated down and tried to undo a strap on the bag as Sean sighed again and took a look at another woman who had joined the group only to start reading a book.

Sean smiled meekly. "All I can say about that Beldum is that he's a handful."

"How's it goin'? I'm Claude. I'm assuming you all got a message from Birek?"

Sean smiled and introduced himself to Claude before looking at the two of them. "I'm not exactly sure what Birek wants. The only thing I know about him is that he's a relative newcomer to the Orre region and he hasn't been here that long. But if he's looking for help he must have come across something big."

"Ahh, I'm Praxis."

"And I'm Carna. It's nice to meet you all."

Sean smiled at the two newcomers and waved cheerfully at them. "Nice to meet you two. I take it the two of you received letters as well?" He asked as his Quilava got up and stretched and small bursts of flame erupted from it's back before it decided to lay down again.

Sean looked behind him as he heard the sound of a door opening. A man with a clean shaven face walked out and looked over the group. "Welcome! Professor Birek told me his guests had arrived. Please follow me. The professor is waiting for you."

The sun was shining brightly as Sean and his two Pokemon looked up at the large building that served as the headquarters for most of the Pokemon research in Orre. Sean looked down at the letter in his hand and wondered once again why he had been chosen to speak with the professor.

"Trainer, your presence has been requested at the Pokemon HQ lab in Orre. I, professor Birek have made a discovery that could be amazing news to both Pokemon and their trainers. I ask that when you arrive at the lab you wait for the others who have been invited. Speak of this to no one except the others when they arrive. Have a safe journey."

Sean scratched his head and looked at his Beldum. "It's a bit of an odd request, isn't it? I wonder why I received the invitation. No offense intended you two, but we're not exactly the strongest trainers in Orre." Beldum seemed to stare at him for a moment and then turned to look back at the building. Quilava on the other hand didn't seem to take any offense and looked up at his bag and a short burst of flame erupted from it's back.

"Hungry?"

Another short blast of flame erupted and Sean grinned. "You eat almost as much as a snorlax." He joked as he opened the bag and handed a handful of treats to the fire type Pokemon.

Sean sat down on one of the stairs leading up to the building and Quilava sat next to him while Beldum floated above the stairs. All he could at the moment was wait for anyone who had a letter like his.

I lowered the levels of my Pokemon a little to be closer to the others who specified their Pokemons' levels.

Name: Sean

Gender: Male

Age: 19

Personality: Sean is an overall nice guy. He tries to be respectful of other people and their Pokemon. The only time you see him angry is if you mess with his Pokemon. Mess with Sean all you like, just don't screw with his Pokemon whom he considers his best friends.

Appearance:

History: Sean was born in Pyrite town and despite the rough nature of the town, grew up without too many bad influences. He would often watch the battles in Duel Square and became enamored with the idea of getting his own Pokemon team and one day battling other trainers. At first, he didn't see Pokemon as anything more then creatures to battle with but this changed shortly.

One day, after watching a battle in Duel Square late at night, he went home for the night. He was awoken an hour later by the cry of a Pokemon outside the house. After making sure his parents were still asleep he went outside and saw something that nearly broke his heart and shocked him. He saw a Beldum floating only a few centimeters above the ground. It was wounded and was barely able to stay afloat. As he looked closer, he remembered seeing the trainer he was watching in duel square using the Beldum. He remembered the trainer using the Beldum had lost. He wrapped the Beldum in a blanket and carried it inside and made sure it was fed and cared for. For a while after, the Beldum couldn't float and Sean made sure to stay by it for as long as he could. After a week, it regained the ability to float and followed Sean around wherever he went. It was shortly after this that Sean took the Beldum as his own and the two began to train together. After training for a few weeks the two of them finally fought a trainer in Duel square and managed to win easily. Since then, Sean and Beldum have traveled the Orre region looking for new Pokemon to join their team.

A few weeks after the two of them went off on their adventure across Orre, Sean discovered that when they were sleeping, something or someone was raiding their food. After a few days of trying to discover who the thief was, they finally managed to catch the thief: It was a starving Quilava that was skinny enough that it's ribs could be seen. Sean took instant pity on it and gave it a good portion of their food. He assumed that the Quilava would go on it's way but instead of running off it followed Sean and Beldum wherever they went. The Quilava continued to follow them around and Sean decided to bring it onto their team. Quilava has been with them ever since.

Age: 59
Personality: A twisted and dirty man, Ferlin ruthlessly abuses his pokemon and punishes them if they don't win. He hates everyone but hides it beneath a mocking sickly-sweetness.

History: Ferlin grew up the third son of the town drunk. His older brothers relentlessly harassed and tormented him until he had gained enough income to leave the family broom closet at age 35. Since then he has been going around as an amateur pokemon trainer, gaining most of his wins by making opponents forfeit out of disgust.

Home town: Pallet

Starting Pokemon: Oshawatt and Squirtle, both level 3.

Sorry it took so long. Thanksgiving took a serious bit out of my time.

Name: Claude Martel

Gender: Male

Age: 17
Personality:
One of the first things people notice about him is his confidence, call it arrogance or cockiness because that's what it is. As far as he is concerned, he can do anything because he knows he has the brains and the discipline to see it through. This world is his for the taking, but he's willing to share with those who fight as hard as he does. Overall he is friendly though. He believes that above all things, you need to respect yourself for who you are. It irritates him to no end to deal with people who can't do that. Rainer has a simple sense of humor, in that it doesn't take much to make him laugh. Stupid jokes, dirty jokes, toilet humor, clever wordplay, corny wordplay all do it for him. He just loves to laugh. He's also a flirt. He definitely enjoys he female form and has no shame in letting a girl know he's interested. He's become a good bluffer and can pull off some pretty big lies without a hint of doubt. That's not to say he's a good liar overall. When it comes to personal matters, guilt can easily get the best of him.

History:

Claude was born in the Johto region, growing up just outside of Goldenrod City. His mother had a job in the the city, while his father, an outdoorsman who would never dream of living in the big city, worked at the National Park. As such he had a comfortable normal life. Not lacking in anything, but not having any excess either.

Claude found himself at home in both places, and quickly grew to love exploring both and getting to know the Pokemon. Spending so much time at the Park, he naturally developed an affinity for bug-types, eventually going so far as to catch a few. He even managed to catch a Scyther during one of the park's contests. (Unfortunately he came in second place to a Weedle... he suspects they couldn't let him win due to his dad working at the park).

Eventually he set his eyes on the Pokeathlon Dome. It became a thrill to him to work alongside his Pokemon to train them in their physical abilities. It was this that led to him searching out different varieties of Pokemon, to test their strengths and weaknesses in the Dome. He grew to be a rather successful athlete in a few years, making it to the Supreme Cup and competing against the best trainers and even some Gym Leaders at 15. His Scyther even managed to master all five Pokeathlon stats, and eventually earned enough points to trade for a Metal Coat and evolve.

Unfortunately, Claude's run came to an end when his mother was transferred to Gateon Port. A series of unlucky business decisions and subsequent shifts in upper management left her with the choice to transfer to Orre for two years or lose her job entirely. So the family moved. Claude left most of his Pokemon behind with a friend, as he didn't have the heart to separate them from their passion. However he brought along his Aipom, which never really liked competing anyway. With the move, Claude's father had to find a new job, now working a menial job unloading cargo in a warehouse. He doesn't see his parents as much, as they are always busy. Once he feels his family's all settled in, he plans to take off on a journey to train and battle in the Colosseums. If he can't train Pokemon to compete athletically, he'll just have to train for battle. Home life has been uneasy as the move has been hard on all of them. He's never heard his parents argue quite so much. He might just head out earlier than planned.
