Sorry for my absence! A Volunteering position suddenly turned into a Volunteer Leadership position I was not expecting at all so things have been hectic.

Look at you posers, having to bang dragons or sell your soul for magic when you could just play a lute for some. Anyways, here's Wonderwall. - Bards

@RainDo you want me to? I can come up with a list of nonsensical complaints like your guy is too short but also needs to be taller, his face looks ugly, you need to be using a well-balanced oatmeal rocket launcher and must be able to sing the Gothic alphabet backwards squared ^^

x3
@RainI like, put 'em in the Chars tab!
@Dead CruiserI'll try to work on one today assuming my lazy ass allows it.

@SkepicHey, I just respected them enough that I thought I would put them in. Originally meant as a sign of respect old friend :p
And of course you can join, I assume you'll be an Avalian?
Well, what I was thinking is mercenary, that she is of common birth but was able to find someone actually willing to train her at a younger age, my idea was from the leader of her town's local militia. Then later on fell into a mercenary company where I imagine depending on the commander of said company there would... hmm fewer issues due to her sex. Now, by the present time in the RP she would've actually left that company and would be doing something else, so that's why I said this character concept is weird.

I see. I guess my best answer for right now is to write up a reasonable CS and we'll see how it goes from there.

Also since I'm talking about this anyway the other idea I had is someone who's not even remotely a soldier, actually like the idea of a traveling peddler but with something more than just that, again still trying not to say too much here.

I whole heartily support the idea of these kinds of supporting/reoccurring characters.
If you really want my full judgement, just shoot me a PM with all the details you can manage.

One last thing I'm wondering now is how important is magic to warfare anyway? Is it absolutely required to have some magic to at least not die in an actual battle?

Magic at this point is basically artillery in its most common form and other supporting elements like weather manipulation and terrain adjustments. Of course, there's also the healing arts which provide a good alternative to otherwise unsafe medieval medicine.

Holy orders will also often bless their own units with stuff like magic/spirt armor to improve survivablity although it rarely makes one immune to damage.

This is going to be the final post of the night from me as its about midnight where I am and I can feel my thought processors failig right now >_>
@RainMy point still stands (kinda).
Even in real life militaries, it doesn't matter how good you are, once you fall below a certain standard, you will be removed from duty. Or at the very least not allowed to go on such a mission like this where soldiers are the sort of acting representatives of humanity.

My suggestions are to make him younger or to make him one of those chill grandpa types who goes on the occasional binge.
@ClocktowerEchos Alright that's about what I expected. Now, I don't want to give things away, partly since I'm still deciding between which two concepts I want to commit with. So what about a commoner basically becoming a warrior on her own, no being actually enlisted, but something less official.

Sorry about being vague here, just don't want to set any expectations.

I can see her masquerading as a noble which would be a pretty cool character thing.

The other way I see this is that they've become so unnaturally gifted at a particular lore that they were snatched up by the army due to potential military value.

@ClocktowerEchos

Currently conceptualizing both my characters while I sit through IT infrastructure buildup meetings. XD I really should be paying more attention to this. lol

Do you mind if I design my Novogorodian as an old, experienced, undisciplined, confrontational, drunk private?

The only adjective I have an issue here is old. If he was consistently undisciplined, confrontational, and drunk, he would have eventually be removed long ago; the PRN still have standards even if they are laxed.
@ClocktowerEchos

My god. Between the two characters there would be zero organizational progress in interests for either side.

That's what character development is for mate :P

Right, think I'm going to start getting to work now... she's gonna be a weird character I feel.

@ClocktowerEchos Also what's the general attitude towards women anyway? I assume its all the typical stuff out of a medieval society.

Sort of.
For common women, medieval social treatment remains the same. Noble women however do have more power and are able to serve in the military and hold office. Of course exact details vary from place to place.

I don't see why. The Germans have been building all sorts of crazy automaton like things in this timeline. It would only make sense that they build what could be for all intensive purposes a field medic that can't die by conventional means. It depends on what sort of robot we're talking about, since I doubt we're going to see something Mister Gutsy-esque, I.E floating bladed machines, but perhaps some sort of very basic machine could make sense.

<Snipped quote by ClocktowerEchos>

Well he won't be curing cancer or anything. Only purpose is to bandage wounded soldiers and perform emergency surgical procedures.

There's something different between making a manned walking tank and an autonomous machine which seeks out wounded and patches them up however. That is some pretty advanced robotics even by modern standards to my knowledge (which I admit is not up to date on robotics and such).

Saying that you can make an autonomous robot since you can make a walker is like saying you can make a modern main battle tank since you can make a car to me.

EDIT: Also as far as I'm aware, only Germany has anything close to the ability to create anything like a robot and Boop's medi droit is from Switzerland.
Hey is it ok if I am a medical droid built in Switzerland? Taking the whole red cross thing to the next level.

Not going to lie, this sounds a bit far out there even for this RP, but that's just my two sense.
@Rainlol

Spoiler alert, Saiyako might already have that ambition :P

Good luck on your character and see you beyond the gate!
