Gonna be out for the day, people, so I won't really be RPing much.
Bio
Hey, there. Myst here, as you've probably guessed. Can't exactly write in other people's bios, can you? But, you're probably reading this for a reason, so I'll get to it.
I prefer high-Casual and Advanced games, in a medieval, fantasy or sci-fi setting, because that's the sort of nerd I am.
I'm a thinker - I've thought a lot on certain things, and am firm in my beliefs. So you could ask me what I thought about a good few things and I could give a well-reasoned answer. Or a less reasoned answer based on my morals.
TheCharactersOfMyst - This is my storage for past and present characters, and where I might occasionally go for nostalgia and/or recycling a character I've used before.
@GreivousKhan Definitely room. As I said in the int check, I'd be glad to hear any ideas you might have; we're technically in a place where anyone can join up and it wouldn't be too difficult to fit them in. Since, you know, safety in numbers.
The basic summary of the IC is this; the original cast, being Vaal the Kobold Sorcerer (Tangletail), Rhaeyla the Aasimar Monk, though she appears to be human (Eleven), Caw the Kenku Rogue (Vertigo), Surina the Dragonborn Barbarian and Magdar the Dwarf Cleric (their players dropped out) were hired by two human twins, Sebastian (Fighter) and Cassandra (Druid) to escort them to the town of Greenrest. Just as they came within sight of the town, an army, accompanied by a blue dragon, began their assault. The party has just rescued four humans, the Swift family, and are in the process of making their way toward the keep.
There are currently two other player characters somewhere in the city; Fran, the Tiefling Warlock (Lucius Cypher) and Mists on the Mountain, the Tabaxi Cleric - though he identifies as a Rakasta, tiger-like tabaxi, mechanically a Tabaxi/Half-Orc hybrid (Harbinger Of Ferocity).
Fran is at the keep and Mists is at the cathedral
Now, the reason that I've given Sebastian and Cassandra stat blocks is that this chapter of the story can be considered incredibly difficult; they're there to make things a little easier and because they're characters that I already had. Magdar and Surina have also been relegated to this role, though I don't plan on keeping all four around for the entire chapter.
I do have a few preferences that I'd like to state before we begin, but if you can sufficiently sway me, I can let them slide.
Background and class overlap. This is a minor preference, but I prefer that the player characters do not choose to take the same class and/or background of other players. This doesn't include Sebastian, Cassandra, Surina or Magdar; you can, for example, be a barbarian with the noble background. Race overlap is fine by me.
Monstrous races/Alignments. Characters who have unconventional aspects like these (see: Vaal) must have justifiable reasons to have them. Tangletail and I went over some things in PM's, and we went with a kobold-mage staple; he believes himself to be a dragon, but as a kobold, he is weaker than most. So he needs meatshields allies to stand with him. He is LE, but is capable of doing good in the name of his personal interests. Some races are off-limits, - yuan-ti, triton, lizardfolk, gith, and anything that comes from Eberron or Ravnica. For various reasons, they don't really fit this setting. However, you could play as a drow elf, etc.
Class preference. Now, this is the one I consider the least important overall, but we are lacking in two general areas right now; melee-focused and casters. We have Rhaeyla is melee-focused, Vaal is spell-focused, and Fran, Caw and Mists, who sit in the middle (Caw will be an Arcane Trickster, but so far prefers his bow). Basically, if you're interested in creating a character, please consider someone who is either focused on melee or focused on spells. 😅
EDIT: If you have any other questions, let me know!
Mmm... well, a little bit of yes, a little bit of no. I asked someone from another RP I'm in to join up, so we do now have five players once again; they're playing a Hexblade Warlock. However, six players isn't too different from five, now, is it? If you'd like to join, let me know what you're thinking and we'll see if I can squeeze you in.
The man lets out a hiss of pain and steps back, a spot of red foam appearing at the corner of his mouth. He makes to shout, but before he can, he is silenced with a bolt of frost. The elven woman turns to face Rhaeyla with a snarl, the darkness doing little to hide the girl from her sight. She spins her blade in her hand and falls into a stance.
She is no longer surprised by your presence.
Cassandra’s Turn | Init: 13
HP 5/9 | Status: None Seeing the elven woman distracted, Cassandra takes the opportunity to slam the butt of her staff against the ground. Again, the ruby at its head is set aflame, and again, it darts in the direction of its target - this one the elven woman. But the elf sees the flame, and she raises her scimitar, the cantrip breaking against her steel.
Cassandra flinches, and she backs away slightly.
Cassandra attacks with Produce Flame, but misses with a roll of 10.
Kobolds x 1 | Init: 12
Winged Kobold | Healthy
The kobold takes several steps back, and from its bag pulls a rock, hefty in size. It crouches, and its wings rise up, ready to take flight.
The Urd is no longer surprised by your presence.
Surina's Turn | Init: 9
HP 14/14 +3 | Status: None
Surina, a child in each arm, backs away into the shadows.
No action taken.
Sebastian's Turn | Init: 6
HP 11/11 +3 | Status: None
Sebastian charges forward, shield in front of him, ready to block, and he swings at the elf. With inhuman grace, she dances away, as he misses by a hair.
Sebastian attempts to attack with his longsword, for a total of eleven and misses.
Magdar, unwilling to leave his charges, instead fit a bolt to his crossbow and took aim. The elf seems to hear this, and she steps out of the way just in time, the missile flying off into the darkness. Magdar utters a curse and resets the cord.
Scott glanced under the table where Miiba and the boy were still talking. “We... we don’t know… not exactly, anyway.” he lied.
Looking around the room, he took in not his surroundings, but the people around him. Lear, he knew, and he assumed that the woman he was talking to was Mirabelle. That made the other man, the one who had… picked up a log to kill him with, he had to be Geir. But the other woman, the one who was standing in front of the youngest girl and holding a baby in her arms... who was she? He assumed that she was Lear’s wife, and that made these four children theirs. Why would they be here, where every creature in a hundred-mile radius (at least, that’s what it felt like) wanted to kill them?
Scott supposed that’s what the wall was for. And they could probably handle themselves. But was it really worth the effort?
Slipping away from Miiba’s side, he moved towards the woman.
What is happening now is called a surprise round. You are attacking an enemy that does not know you're there. Thus, they will be unable to fight back for the duration of this round (by which I mean they cannot take actions, or move for the first round, nor can they take reactions like opportunity attacks until their turn passes in the surprise round). Any attacks you make will be with advantage.
