"Yep, come on lad, off to the Armory" Grayson said, walking out of the War Room. He led the way on the very short distance between the War Room and Armory, input his biometric scan to open the door, and welcomed Maxi inside.

"Just throw your old gun on the desk here" Grayson said as he did the same with the laser pistol, then busied himself checking the readout screens on the nearest display cases, wondering if the Alliance might have provided something to suit their current need. As expected, there was nothing quite as simplistic as Maxi preferred, so he wandered over to the crates that his own collection was stored in, slid open the front panel and began to root around for the weapon.

"Really need to grab a moment to clean this place up a bit" he said, more to himself than Maxi "30 M-68's on display, and not a single TAR-92, the Alliance should be ashamed of themselves.... ah here we are"
He stood up with a new laser pistol in hand.
"TX-5, fairly new model at that, and a definite step up from that TX-2. They've upgraded from Lithio-Proton energy cell to a Thermo-Ionic, they last longer, and aren't prone to any leakage or drain-cycles. The thing about the TX Series is that rapid-fire built up too much heat, and there was nowhere for it to go. The TX-5 introduced this venting system on the heat-sink, and a gauge below the sights to monitor it. Weapon's overheating? Hold the vent release button here on the side and wait a few seconds. Now I still don't recommend rapid-firing if you can avoid it, tends to shag up the regulator battery over time" Grayson turned the weapon over in his hands and offered the handle to Maxi Now, we don't have a firing range or anything on board, but grab ahold of it, see how it feels in your hand. If you like it, we'll move on to your ballistic"
@Turbowraith Sounds good, I'll update the OOC with your info, you can go ahead and post your CS in the Character tab, and I'll be sending along a PM shortly with some ideas for introduction!
@Tickout

"Fair enough" Grayson said as Maxi assessed his own combat ability "Plenty of easy-use and reliable firearms out there, I'm sure we'll find somethin' suited for ya. Come on, War Room's upstairs, gotta get ya up to speed"

He led the way up to the Command Deck and headed straight into the War Room, where Stryker was addressing the combat drone.

@BKburke

"Yes, fair question 772. You and the squadron will be outfitted with a mix of standard kits. CenturiaTech Riot Shields and M-77 Machine Pistols for the frontline, M-68 Assault Rifles or X-22 Laser Rifles for the vanguard. All units will carry a grenade as well. Specific orders will be issued once the nature of the mission is confirmed"

Stryker turned to see Grayson and Maxi enter.

"Ah, you're back. You're Churrox I presume? Welcome aboard. Call me Stryker. Let's get you up to speed....."

He raced through the basic details of the mission, and then explained that Maxi would be placed on the boarding party with most of the others. He finished up the short speech by looking around the room.

"Everyone clear on the objectives are dismissed, anyone with questions, voice them now"
@Banana We're a little under 3 hours out from Zargos System. So after the post I've got coming up shortly, I'll open it up for a short round of last-minute interactions and then we can jump ahead to entering the system and getting the attack underway

And yes, Tibulus is gonna be stayin on the ship because he's gotta manuever it around while Stryker and the fireteam are on the guns!
@Turbowraith Alright sounds good to me, accepted!

Whoop, almost forgot, where's he gonna be sleeping? Rooms 6, 10, 11 and 12 are free in the crew quarters. Or if he'd prefer, there's a couple of emergency bunks in the Engine Room he could also kip out on.

Edit: And we'll discuss how to best introduce him shortly
@Dark Light Haven't forgotten about ya bud! I always intended there to be more than one engineer on board, SAL's been a placeholder, but now he'll step down from the position and Arex can step up!
@Turbowraith Looks good. One question "Sloan claims he's "Workin' on something big."" Is this a typo or a character from his past? (If its the latter, either don't respond or simply PM me. I don't think he'll get too much use out of his weaponsmithing talents, considering we already have a very volatile weapons expert stationed in the armory who's extremely protective over his collection, but who knows what would happen down the line?

@Azereiah Well, define 'massive cybernetic construct' we'll see what we can do for ya!
@Rultaos@Banana@PlatinumSkink@Dark Light@Xandrya

The Q&A session was interrupted by Amy suddenly bursting out of the War Room, a few seconds later, Arex slipped off as well. He waited just long enough for the conversation and shock of the moment to die down before reasserting control.
"Like Benjamin said, it's very unlikely that we'll find any families. So the order stands" Stryker said, he hadn't even considered that possibility, and the fact that the conversation hadn't made him physically sick made him want to puke, was this who he was now? Had he really fallen this far? He put those thoughts aside to get back to the briefing.

"I'm not anticipating needed any one of you to go any lower into the station than the cargo bay you'll arrive at. The ship's weapons should be enough to take out the lasers. I suppose it'd be better safe than sorry, if you can fit some form of demolition charges in your loadout, I'd say take them along just in case, but assume you'll be sticking with the rest of the boarding party, clearing out the upper levels"

@Tickout

"It's completely useless" Grayson growled as he turned the weapon over in his hands "I get it, it was cheap and it's easy to use, but that's the thing, it's cheap. Very subpar parts used in its construction. I'm surprised it hasn't completely melted down yet, this far outdated, the main energy cell is prone to shittin' itself, and the chance of catastrophic failure gets higher the longer it's used. You're not using this, I'm sure I've got at least a couple TX-5's somewhere in the armory. Listen, let's get upstairs, after the meeting, you're comin' with me to get properly outfitted. What other kind of weapons you got on you mate? Hand 'em over"
He started towards the stairs, keeping a hand ready to take Maxi's next weapon.
@Tickout

"Grayson" he said in response to the small man "Pleasure's all mine. We have't got time for a full Q&A so just grab your stuff and follow me. The bloke in charge wants me to get you set up with a room, then it's right upstairs for a briefing. Come along"

He led the way through the common area towards the crew quarters, chatting all the way "Takes a little gettin' used to, the layout of the place, there's little floor plans stuck up near the elevator and the stairs, and in the elevator itself. Won't be able to give ya a full tour or anything, but they'll help a bit. Right back through here we got the quarters. Now if I'm remembering right- those three doors on the right are free, rooms 6, 10 an 12, and on the left side here we got rooms 9 and 11 open, just chuck your gear into one of 'em and we'll be on our way. Oh and the two doors next to each other right at the end of the hall are the toilets. Gents is through the left door, and that'll be your tour for now"

He stepped back out of the way to let Maxi decide on a room, just as he was going to lean against the door to his own room, his eyes caught a glimpse of a very distinct looking handle sticking out of one of Maxi's holsters.
"Hang on a minute mate. That blaster you got there, is it a TX-2 Series? Pass it here"
@Rultaos It's Grayson. I had Stryker send him off to collect Maxi from the docking bay. Just been holding off slightly on posting to tackle that plus any questions Stryker'll have to answer in one post
