Back when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, I got started with writing online on the Spore forums. Man, those were the days. We're talking like 12 years ago 2010-ish!

I've been here on and off for almost as long, and have GM'd a bunch of different things to varying success.

I could not resist, for I am a beast of Karma, as simple slave to her almighty will.

Dang, everything I say is slowly changing into poetry. Can you tell I've been writing too much?

No, you're just succumbing to Kho's logic and becoming a Vowzra. RESIST IT, HAEL!
@Hael

I see that you returned the favor just then =P

Edit: Oddly, clicking one made the other vanish from my list as well.
Also, I just now finally put my character up :D

You'll notice he can magically project himself, but that is never a mentioned skill of Mysticism (low blow alert, @Cyclone )

MY ROFLKNIEF GOEZ SLIECSLIECSLI-oh, crap. Night has fallen. You win this time, Hael!

@Queen Tomato

That's an interesting way of looking at it. Watermelon.

Like you said, I feel that there's a big grey area. I'm now just going on with the assumption that creativity is mostly left unburdened and that we'll be allowed to do about anything within reason. I think that's what the self-styled "Benevolent Dictator" @Hael was getting at.
I'd Post, but I'm waiting for the attack on the dwarves to begin as Xallihion is very patient to see what might happen.
Also @Cyclone would you like me to go through and make a list of the Spells Xallihion has?

Sounds good. Once Clotho responds to Twich I'm guessing that the actual attack will start, so you shouldn't have a terribly long wait ahead of you.

Some people listing spells and abilities in their character sheets just for clarity, but I don't require you to be that specific. Do it if you like, but I'm okay just learning about various characters' abilities by seeing what they do IC in combat situations.
Any advice how to reduce the exertion?

Have that awkward conversation with your ex's rich father-in-law where you beg for them to bail you out of a pickle? In this case said guy being Invictus or Fate?
@Hael

Well I can't argue with you because you're the one that invented the lore and the system. As in for the categories, the OP didn't explain that distinction to me. In my interpretation at least, it also hinted at the opposite by using phrases like "forms of magic". Similarly I didn't realize that the schools were just an outline.

I say this not to be argumentative or even to defend myself (because I very well may have missed some post in the OOC or interest check where you explained that nuance) but because I get the feeling that I might not be the only one who misunderstood what the OP had to say.
Hate to be the one to break the triple six on the ooc post.

@cyclone I was wondering how many villagers there were. I didn't want to kill them all and not allow others to join in. Should I wait for a joining force before my next post?

Naw, you can go ahead and post. Keep in mind that the others were ordered to keep most of the villagers alive, though, so they may actually try to stop Cold Stare.

Not sure if I said this IC, but in my mind I had envisioned that this village was a pretty large one and had something like 500 people including the garrison, knights, and sorcerer-priests.
@Hael

The thing is that illusion is sort of split between two categories (Telepaths can make you hallucinate, yet Alterists could physically change the appearance of the item and disguise it as something else, so that you aren't hallucinating at all). I'd also say the traditional Illusion-type powers of invisibility and such fit under Alteration, further meaning that Telepathy isn't just the same thing as illusion magic. So illusion as a combination of the two and a category of its own would be overkill, but pretty powerful.

You mention that enchanting exists and is a basic skill, but I'd argue that it should be something of its own category because it doesn't fall under any others. When I mentioned enchanting I should have been more specific: I was thinking something along the lines of enchanters from Dominions 4, one of my favorite games. They are actually quite powerful even in combat, with the ability to enchant the land itself to make the arrows of friendly archers light up with magical flames and incinerate anything they hit, for example. Or just empower everyone nearby. Really they act as more of a support role, which is why I figure enchanting and construction would be a secondary skill that someone would take rather than their primary/only one.

And I just came up with those ideas because you seemed interested in adding more schools. If you like I could elaborate further on those ideas or help you brainstorm more, but I'm not going to take the initiative or push for any of this to be implemented. I'll be blunt and just say that since I have no intention of making a second character after Crompter, whether or not we add new types of magic doesn't really matter to me.
Aha, but Ialu shall be the Mightiest of you all! Aside from being a level 3 demigod, he has something like 6,000 people that he rules, all of whom presumably worship him.

Like a divine mosquito, Ialu shall pester people of your choosing and/or let you borrow his Might in exchange for the right to DRINK YOUR BLOOD.
Quick question for everyone:

Do you guys think the RP would be better would some form of elemental magic?

No. I think it should be split into Destruction magic and an overall broader telekinesis type thing, kind of like the Force.

Beyond that, other types that I think would be cool to have:

-Enhanting and construction of magical artifacts
-Some divine power to contrast Occultism. It needn't just include the stereotypical Light and smiting undead; it'd be cool it they could also have something unique and less cliché like holy incense and smoke magic
-Some form of nature magic/druidism
-Summoning elementals and spirits to host in your own body (temporarily or permanently) to grow more powerful and wise, at the expense of having inner turmoil and a fragmented mind that can take away one's control or sanity if they are unprepared.

That's just off the top of my head. I can also think of a ton of combinations, like Thaumaturgy (Alchemy + Occultism), Illusion (Alteration + Telepathy), etc.
