@Pineappletumble
Combat skill is just your level of physical prowess in non-magical fisty-cuffs.
Do you squeal and freeze up? Can you fight like a ninja?
Are you reliant on your magic or can you handle yourself without it?

On rare occasions things may be settled with combat skill alone and no magic.

Yay! Hi Rae.

It's really a just comparative thing.
But your right, a suggested guideline example would be good.
I'll work on that soon.

An E rank can still be flashy or a strong power but if it comes up against a B rank power (or wizard with B rank) he will probably overcome it.

I really don't want to limit people's imagination or ideas with the ranking system but you need to accept that some people will be better in certain area's.
Ideally you should try imaging the absolute height of your power and also the simplest foundations of it and move between there.
But at the same time I wouldn't complain if you used the same 4 attack spells that just slowly became stronger.

:/ hope that helped.
I'll have examples up soon ;)
Hi all, I'm interested in this thread but curious about a few things.
While I like the detail and depth of advanced RP how do you go about colaborating a story?
For example 3 people fighting side by side where your actions can only go so far ahead. Is there scrutiny for a shorter post in those examples?

I'll admit I haven't had a lot of time to read all the posts, which are great by the way, but how much cross character interaction is here?
Is everyone writting their own story or is there a larger quest/mission going on?

Thanks in advance
;)

@Dark Light Who would be working at this guild?

The guild is essentially a job agency, they take on work and give it out to its members, everyone will be expected to take on some of these jobs eventually.
There are a very broad range of tasks that are handed to the guild but guild reputation can dictate and influence the majority.

As for internal jobs there will be the guild leader.
He organises the work that the guild accepts and puts up the jobs on the job boards.

The rest becomes purely optional depending on the type of guild you barter for.
There could be a care taker.
A bar maid.
A cleaner.
A stable hand.
An accountant.
Resident bard.

The list is endless.
They all come with pros and cons. Cons mostly being cost.
@Caoimhe Pulling trucks? Lol :s

I'll have the few other members and guild founder up in the next few days.
Hopefully that will aid with inspiration and ideas.

Also guys, I don't want this to actually be the fairytail guild.
So once we get 4 or 5 players interested I will start asking you to name and design it. So there will be an element of base building as well.
You will have to look after it's reputation and help handle recruits.

He's not a teen refugee, but he's not exactly a grungy mercenary is he? How would he find himself in this caravan- a group of carts filled with children and teens, protected by some worn out mercenaries and city guards no longer fit for hard combat?
Self interest, suits him better then travelling alone.
He would have lied, bribed or threatened anyone he had to.
I didn't want to make him any younger because of his level of skill in magic. But if your happy with it I can.

Personality section is a bit sparse, but serviceable. If Vallen was bought from his father by a performing troupe, how did he also take his father's "greatest masterpiece" with him? Its also almost too convenient that his father's greatest work was a set of throwing knives- which Vallen happened to learned how to use while in the troupe. A Royal smith crafting weapons for nobles and knights? Giving them daggers as opposed to fine swords?- I feel like it would make more sense for his masterpiece to be a single piece.
It also makes sense that they would be the last item to sell, as you said they all want swords and such. It wasn't his 'greatest' master piece just 'another' master piece and it was bought by the troupe before kidnapping Vallen. When he found out it was his fathers he wanted them.
If you feel it fits the story better he could have trained with them knowing they were his fathers.

Just a side note on ages, if we are comparing to medievil times, 18 wasn't exactly a helpless teenager either.
Adult hood, work and marriage, all came about between 12 and 16. Pretty much everyone here is an able bodied fighter. (Princess exluded.)
