@rivaan yea but I get stuck right into my characters, so unless there's a really good reason for him not to smite the others when he finds out they are 'devil worshippers' and partly responsible for plunging the world into darkness and selfishly unbalancing nature for their own gain, he would probably then just refuse to travel with them.

A lifetime of beliefs that he has backed up with some pretty horrible actions won't just vanish over one conversation. I don't know what you have in mind plot wise but he's gonna need some pretty strong motivation to play nice if people are throwing magic about around him.

I mean it could be really fun if the mages wanna try hide it from him and cover it up, because he would be a useful ally, but it will take something drastic to change his mind.

Ahh I can imagine some intense scenes where he battles between his faith and his friends lives.

Clay, while a bit rough-around-the-edges is pretty care free and easy going guy. He can be a little arrogant and over confident and extremely head strong and stubborn at times. He is pretty quick to resort to violence or at least threats, the strike first ask questions later type.
Character flaws aside he has a generally good heart and will make sacrifices for others. Behind his arrogance he doesn't really believe he is worth dirt, often denying his own happiness believing he must suffer for mistakes of the past. He's the kind of guy that trouble is attracted too.
