I would have to assume the single nihilist's belief isn't enough to counter the vast majority of the world.
I mean he wouldn't know if it's been blessed or not, it's not just a psychosomatic reaction.
And thats assuming religion is a matter of belief and there isn't actually divine magic in this world, in wich case it just becomes 'magic water'.

Oh and I never used holy water in the attack, I know subsequent posts assumed I did but I never saw it in the 'things to use against witches'

  To call upon such a gift Azerus must recite a short prayer and close his eyes for a moment. To see as the light sees is tiring and disorientating for a mortal mind, therefore it cannot be held for prolonged lengths of time.

History

Childhood: Fed lies his entire childhood youth of the corruptive and vile nature of magic, young orphaned Azerus was groomed into the perfect tool for the church. His memories of his loving parents tarnished by the poisonous tongue of those with selfish agendas and truths to hide. Still to this day he foolishly believes that magic corrupted and killed his parents but he couldn't be further from the truth.
Adulthood: Azerus has traveled the towns and mixed with non believers during his righteous crusade against all things magic and evil. He has battled witches and brought down criminals alike. He has proved truly instrumental in maintaining the churches solid grip over society and done everything without question or doubt, even those things which are undoubtably questionable.

Special Moments: Things that stick out in you characters mind most often

Current Events: As his years of service to the cause rolled over, his duties moved more and more towards towns and locations on the outer reaches of the churches influence. Questions began popping up to which he had no answers and
before he could seek out such truths he was coincidently suddenly stricken with signs of a deadly illness.
The church having no cure sent him out into the darkness under the faith that his inner light will guide him to health and greatness.
