There was indeed a hand reaching down into the water, but it was not searching for Rei. A red crimson cloud grew around it. It gathered like a small storm cloud in contrast to the bright sky above, even mimicking lightning with small zaps of magical energy dancing around in it.

Drakus had seen the others engage the new Kappa and slid around in the shadows to avoid any such confrontation. Helping himself to a wooden raft he had noticed during his earlier scuffle, Drakus pushed himself out to the center of the pond. Such basic methods he felt were beneath him but at this point he hadn’t the magic reserves to do much else. The lasts of which he was using now. Leaning over the edge of the poorly constructed floating device, in the middle of the pond, his eyes were shut in deep concentration as his hand gently sway in the murky warm water.

But then she grabbed him, with a sigh of inconvenienced disappointment he pulled her out the water and dropped her on the small space beside himself.
No words followed as the craft bounce about, only a stern glare.

Earlier
He had felt it, something very wrong. It hollowed him to his bones. An icy chill running through his veins. This was not like his usual haunting day-mares, this was not the ghosts of his past or side effects of his fatigue. His blood was telling him that something bad, vile even for his standards, was taking place in that pond.
His left over magic, his spilt blood, the dropped weapon... Something. Something was screaming at him, dragging and pulling him back there by his veins and arteries.
Did this have something to do with the sudden surge of power he experienced earlier? Either way he could not ignore it. He was far from recovered, having only just slipped into his icebath when the feeling consumed him.
He heard the others leaving as he got up and dressed himself in new attire. Arming himself with his swords he took off after his comrades.

Personality: Deum is mostly vocally quiet, speaking and sharing very little besides sharp commands. He has little interest in others and is a reclusive who could be considered spiteful and cold.

Bio: There is nothing outstanding in Deum’s backstory. He was born and raised as a normal boy like any other born into and by a secret wealthy ritualistic occult. While he had a mother that gave birth to him, many of the coven acted and claimed to be his parents. While spoiled, he was also held to high expectations. Having enough of it and the lavish lifestyle he left, escaping to the school and enrolled himself to learn in peace.
Fears and weaknesses: Boundaries, shackles, confinement, cages, loss of control, being trapped in the dark. Claustrophobia.
Extras: Avid learner and practitioner of demonology and new tech alchemy.

Plot hook: Cult wants him back. To serve their needs / prophecy. Will kill him to force reincarnation if they have to.

Just wanted to say thanks for taking over this game :)

As for multiple witch theory, they could all technically be apart of the same one. Like maybe she produces these little brain bugs that infect innocent people and slowly turn them into another weaker version of herself. Or she makes some witchy clones some other way? But a coven dedicated to ruining death school sounds good too.
Demon worshipers?

Oh and Drakus would save her, he would just be very nonchalant about it, maybe scoff at her.

I haven’t read it all yet but I love how everyone assumes Drakus would have a ‘hero moment, lol. If he did arrive he would go into the water but probably only to get his weapon 😜
