Jasper is a young man standing at 5"7, with a figure that might be described as "eh". Pale skin and features he prides on having been referred to as "pretty". His face is boyish, having the look of a professional paper weight, and eyes of a boy who once pulled the legs off a spider. He doesn't have much muscle definition, and only minimal belly to match. He has 2 beauty marks on his right hand, and a matching scar from a staple remover on the other. His descent leaves him with tanned skin, and less body hair than others. Though when he doesn't shave a patchy stubble persists. Some odd interaction between the pigment of his world and the process of being transported to the Undernyth has caused the tattoo of a daisy on his shoulder and the once dyed half of his wavy hair to turn permanently blue. Similarly his eyes were also once darker, but have come to match. He is wearing a white button up shirt, a pair of skinny jeans and combat boots. Along with his book-bag, glasses, cartoon print necktie, and finally a beaten hand-me-down leather jacket.

The world Jasper was born in should be familiar, as it is essentially our own. The same but different, Jasper comes from a world we'd refer to as mundane. Traffic jams, politics, taxes. Not without it's eccentricities or ordeals, but none of the magical or overtly apocalyptic variety. It is not a world that let's say, prepared him for the Undernyth.

Outlook:
While anyone's feelings in reference to being transported against their will to an eternal cave purgatory could be described as "negative" for Jasper they are largely "complicated". Or so he might say. In reality Jasper didn't have an overt fondness for his home world, but in his defence, he thought it was the only one he'd get. Back before being thrust into a new chaotic world like this, he had a streak of mental escapism; part of him holding onto the idea of having a magical adventure. And yet, reality is never so kind or simple. The true face of this adventure isn't exactly pretty, and Jasper isn't that far deluded to think of himself as the main character. He's just a fool stuck in a mess. (The more things change...)

Jasper misses many parts of his old life, even if he wouldn't have thought he might. Others still, he's happy to trade. An idealistic and quite likely delusional part of him looks at this like a fresh start. A chance to be something he once watched for entertainment. Jasper is a man who's smart enough to know he's beyond his depth, and dumb enough to still try and enjoy it.

Jasper is largely affable, and somewhat irreverent. He likely wouldn't be described as bombastic or overbearing, but can be a bit mouthy. Whatever complacent filter he'd built up in his life, it was well scrubbed during the process of arriving here. That being said, he isn't a cartoon character. He's simply a man deflecting discomfort. Analytical and creative, he has a decent head on his shoulders. While he couldn't be described as a genius, he is often more astute than one would first assume.

Greatest Dream:
Jasper's original dream was to open an indie game studio, and spend his time cultivating a niche audience with his own brand of strange interactive content. Now that he's been introduced to a world with giant bugs, fire breathing lizards and different manners of magic, he would very much like to become a wizard. Doesn't really matter what kind; he's just gleeful at the concept of legitimately calling himself a wizard.

To expand upon that however, is his genuine interest in the mechanics of magic, and the Undernyth. He would like to study it, and pick it apart. Whether or not he's angling to find a way home, he will not say. But he does want to find or create an almanac of the different kinds of magic in this world.

(He also has a personal quest of finding all the Hawaiian shirts he can. He will fight you on this.)

Greatest Fear:
Jasper has a particular fear of fire. No dramatic story to facilitate it, and if asked he's likely respond "Does one need a reason to not enjoy immolation?". Regardless it makes him more skittish than it does the average person. Even a bonfire puts him on edge. You'll find him sitting far away, only coming close to make sure the grass isn't too precarious, or to make sure it's put out right.

Aside from this Jasper has a deep seated fear of not amounting to anything. While he again has no illusions of becoming the greatest hero to ever live, he can't stand the idea of being a complete nobody. His search for glory being further ignited by the whisking away to a world of blood steel and magic.

Lovely dancer. Has 2 brothers; will jokingly say his need to be seen is the product of being the middle child. Had a vague interest in old weaponry; from flintlocks to rock-slings. Mixes a mean margarita but has sworn off alcohol after a bad time in the sand with two people who no longer talk to him. Comes from a family of sportsmen, dabbled in field hockey.

The items on his person when arriving are:

Sounds good; that's p much exactly what I assumed for the electronics.

As for lore I think it's up to what you want!

Having to discover it all in game sounds sort of fun, but it may also be limiting or cause a need for lore-dumps. So whichever way you think works best I'll go with.

Having the references can also be neat!

SilerPaw's idea of starting out with basic info then filling in more as we learn in-game could be a good middle ground.

She is a figurine hewn from granite, with stone grey hair to match, which flows wild and free from her head. Her eyes are discerning, and the color of dull straw. When not in uniform she wears similarly proper and monochrome clothing. Calling attention in a way that does not call attention. Her legs are augmented with assistive cybernetics, to counteract her condition. Similarly there is a small protrusion at the center of her chest to aid in breathing. Often she also uses an air tank, though science has come far in even the regard; meaning it is largely unobtrusive.

Loretta is a person with something to prove. While she is not considered the nicest person in the world, she is also not caustic. Someone who is used to fighting for recognition, they have come to expect competition in most endeavors. While she will often hold her tongue, it does not mean she is afraid to speak her mind. In a few words she could be defined as competitive, distant, and unkindly; self centred. However Loretta also strives to protect her people; even the ones she disagrees with. If you fall under the same banner she does, you are her own flesh and blood. She expects the effort back that she gives, and refuses to be looked down upon. Those who have served under her might describe the relationship as akin to a well meaning but inexperienced aunt. Often too tired for humor, but never to be indecent.

TL;DR: Sickly child with dreams of being knight was born a mage. Now competes with them fiercely.

History

The Voltylun is a middling house at best within Belisoan history. Not being apart of the original founding families, and gaining status a generation or two later. While their history began in military, they shifted to more mercantile efforts in aiding the expansion of the nation. Their wealth comes from land dealings within the countries borders, though often a son or daughter would enlist each generation. Loretta is one such daughter; her father being one such knight before her. From childhood her head was filled with his fantastic stories, and tales of their families pride. Despite her different interests, Loretta always knew she'd grow to become a true and proud knight of Belisio,

However things are never so simple. Before adolescence she would become afflicted with a degenerative condition. Affecting her breathing, and the function of her legs. This of course did not dissuade someone like Loretta however. If anything, her passion for studying the arts of Ki grew tenfold. Mastering her body, she would be able to do anything she wanted, even if it were harder for her than others.

She would experience another blow however when she learned definitively she was unable to learn Ki. Being born a mage, it was an impossibility. Not only this, but she would be unable to strengthen herself as she hoped. For some years she fell into a depression, locked away in one of the family estates, only allowing attendants and nurses to keep her company.

She would emerge later; ready to finally accept the surgeries her family had presses upon her, only when she could stand on her own two feet again. Having spent all her time studying the use of mana, she developed a way of creating basic constructs. At first brace-like instruments around her legs, then full armor to keep herself rigid.

After a stressful recovery period she was able to function as a self-sufficient individual, and began proper schooling for the use of magic. Continuing to excel in her creation of rigid structures, she graduated from her program with flying colors, and continued her schooling through the military program. Joining the ranks of the Battlemages to prove her family proud, and accomplish some semblance of her childhood dreams. If she could not be a knight, she would compete with them. And nothing could stop her.

Hephestus(tm) Named Sword "Khione": From the famed blade makers, taken from the minor god series it is named for a deity of snow. An energy blade with a solid white color styled like a dueling rapier. It's designed to weaken the energy flow of items or people it comes in contact with; making it come slower. As if "frozen". The effect is diminished upon greater masses of mana or ki, and works best upon standard items or weaker foes.

Antimagic Battlecoat, Grade: Queen: Top of the line magic focused armor; it appears to be normal cloth, though it is crafted from lightweight magic resistant materials and heavily enchanted against external magic sources. While it is not meant to stop a blade, it will stand well against any energy based attacks. While it is specifically crafted to disrupt energy, it is still a light form of armor, and will not sustain the same damage as a suit of armor of a similar calibre.

"Wyvern" Shield-Drone x 2: Two mental-link drones programmed to follow/orbit the user while in combat. They are designed to appear as smaller version of classic knightly shields. They are energy shields meant to allow the user to focus on attacking rather than deflecting smaller projectiles. While they are not perfect blockers, nor as sturdy as a proper shield, they have their uses.

HMSA-28 "Wichbolt" Pistol: A heavy pistol designed to carry mana charged projectiles. Packs a stronger punch for a stronger mage. A trusted fallback for Battlemages who focus less on energy based attacks of their own.

Golemancy: Loretta's prime skill and specialization. The formation of crystalline masses of mana; often used for creation of thrown weapons like blades and spears, as well as makeshift shields and even moving constructs. These include animate soldiers and even extra arms or legs on Loretta's person. The amount of mass she can create/manipulate at once is dependant on her stamina; naturally larger amounts are more draining.

Phase Shift: While Loretta's preference and skill lies in rigid structures, she has been training in the ability to shift her constructs between the different states of matter when useful. This is a more involved process for her and less down to rote memory. However being able to strike with blades that flicker between solid and gas can be worth the effort.

Cryokinesis: An earlier form of Loretta's pure mana constructs, they require adequate water in the surrounding area; pulled from the vapor in the air or vulnerable bodies. While Loretta focuses far less on this application of magic, it is the last stand out of her repertoire. Mainly used as a lower cost version of her golemancy and for creating a battlefield that puts foes on the backfoot.

My CS is coming along! I've got a history done, what I want their powers to be (and talked a little with Merlin about that). It's just filling out the last bits and formatting now ^ ^

I think I wanna make a dude who was just in IT or something but takes the first chance he can to try and become an eccentric wizard. Magic didn't exist in his world but there's like 50 flavors of it here so he's GOTTA be able to learn something right?

Perfect; yes that's more along the lines I was thinking of. Someone who learned younger they were a mage but had big starry eyes about knights. It's not a current aspiration more like a childhood dream.
