Bio

Hello. I go by “Denalz” and I can’t wait to meet you! I’m a woman in her 30’s living in the Midwest and a published author of a successful fantasy romance series. I love to read books of all sub-genres under fantasy. Been roleplaying since I was 14 so I have a fair bit of experience. In addition, I like to DM for a group of friends in my home. Dungeons and Dragons for the win!

You could always do an interrupt post as I've come to know them - you just intercept halfway into a post.

For instance if I write that my guy is moving to a door, you can write that your character trips him. Everything after that is then either void or needs to be adressed by me in my next post. That's what I am used to doing, but you're partly right.

Except, I don't think 3-4 sentences matches advanced writing, especially if you take a look at the free-RP to casual-RP and advanced-RP rates of writing and length of writing.

Then again length =/= how good it is, right?

When I say 3-4 sentences, I'm reffering to scenes which have already been set and the only real action being exchanged is very fast paced dialogue between two characters. So 3-4 sentences usually does the trick in these scenarios.

@rivaan I'm sure I'll pick up on it all as I go.

By the way, I'm typing an IC post now.
@Partisan I thoroughy enjoyed reading your last post. But I have to ask... am I the only one who feels like writing too much takes away the chance for others to respond to potentially good opportunities for character development? I don't know, I am used to 1x1 RP's over an instant messaging medium. So each post is about 3-4 sentences with every line of dialogue and every gesture warranting a response from the other player. I think large-group RP is going to take some getting used to.
Well that's one way to do it... , but i doubt he is the type to go out of his way to help someone unless there is something in it for him.*nudge nudge* but hey Karen has a thing or two to offer him as a bait :3

EDIT: on that note, Sarah better look out. I have the destinct feeling orwen may do something to her eventually

Meh... I think men like Orwen would find Sarah terribly boring for the most part. She's too confident (keeps her from being easily intimidated) and serious (keeps her from flirting or letting little things go). I take Orwen as a man who enjoys making people weaker than himself uncomfortable, but smart enough to do so with people he will receive minimal consequences from. Unless of course, he's looking for some consequences. What do you think @Partisan? Do I have him pegged?
well here is the problem with orwen.. once they get too far into the north and civilization is no longer there thus rendering money useless he better watch it :3

I wonder if he will realize that BEFORE he gets himself into trouble.
Well darn, looks like I'm just going to have to be patient then. Aaaaannnnnddd we are back to patience not being my strong suit.
So... I guess it is technically my turn, but I think it would make more sense for @RIengo to go next. I have never participated in a forum based RP. Are we supposed to take even turns?

Heh, sorry for busting your monopoly.

Oh well, at least now someone will understand my use of U.S. customary units, lol.

It wasn't just in England, for many, many years, the official language of the courts of Russia was French.

EDIT:
@Denalz

Uh, Easter Standard time. Yeah, yeah, I'm a filthy 'murican.

Hey hey, I'm also EST. Not gonna lie, it was kinda cool to be in a grand minority for once.
@Denalz Most tribes speak variants of the 'STANDARDISED UNNAMED LANGUAGE', but some to the much farther north might speak completely different languages. Dawn too speaks its own variant of the STANDARDISED UNNAMED LANGUAGE. The only other language I can make up off the top of my head is 'lingua', which is spoken in many countries to the far south and is the language used in the original versions of the The Word of Light.

Feel free to make up a name for that language, and make up some other ones :P

How about this: the common tongue as mentioned is.. more or less, the common tongue (haha.)

Then you have upper class speech, which is probably Dawnish. Even Vasili noblemen speak this language because, well, it's prestigious and it reflects well on your status. See it as the Latin or French of Europe. Why Dawnish? Because they seem more noble-like, where as the Vasili mingle with nordic tribes.

Besides that, you have tribal speech, which is subdivided into.. over a hundred different dialects as each tribe speaks it's own dialect, and has certain words that the other tribes only know if they've met this tribe in a friendly manner.

Further south you have many more languages, mainly used in trading, where they speak a mangled version of the common tongue, mixed with some of their native language. Ofcourse, this goes paired with lots of hand gestures which, over the years have also formed 'words' so you can use your hands to say words. For instance, if I wave at you and then pinch my nose, that means 'I want to buy sugar from you' for example. That's a dumb example, but it gets my point across.

Would that make sense? Just an idea that I came up with because, in England they spoke French as well because it was seen as a better, more noble language. It makes sense for us to have a similar situation.

I also wanna ask what the currency is in Vasili and what it's called?

I like Partisan's idea if it is acceptable to Kyle. I don't want Sarah to know a crazy amount of languages as her main prowess is is medicine. However, I think it reasonable and likely that she would know the original language of The Word of Light since she is educated and this is such a big part of her life. Of course she would also be familiar with the dialects around the Titus area and villages south of there as she has spent the past three years traveling those areas. Although it's doubtful that she would be familiar with dialects North of Titus as she has never been that far north. I'll have to think of a name for these languages.
