Current Remember, nobody actually enjoys roleplaying if there isn't at least five shameful fetishes uncovered by the 2nd page.

Somebody stole my mood ring. I don't know how to feel about it.

Let's be honest, it's far more satisfying and challenging to actually imagine what a character looks like than paste a hundred gifs of a celebrity and call it good.

So, a team of players who are good at playing as a team in a team-based game are individually bad players. Seems kind of silly when you put it like that, no?

My goal these days is to have an RP that can actually finish, or the very least, last a few years. I see way too many die on page one to take chances

I was initially going to make an underworld merchant type, but the computer crashed and I had to go to work. When I came home, someone already made a merchant character.

Sad face.

Don't fret about what others are doing, if you have an idea for a character, feel free to write it up! I'd rather people make characters they want to play rather than trying to fit an arbitrary role; it's a lot easier to feel invested in an idea if you weren't forced to do something that wasn't your idea choice.

Plus, depending how many sheets we get submitted, some are going to be regrettably turned down and likely put into a roster to call upon if people drop out. It's entirely possible one, both, or neither of the merchant characters will make the initial selection.

I don't want to sound doom and gloom or imply that you're wasting your time, because even people I know and played before are going into this with a clean slate without preferential treatment or prejudice. Best thing anyone can do is make sure the quality's top notch, and even if people don't make the initial selection, I will contact them (if they choose) as soon as a slot opens up.

My last RP, which is still ongoing, had a problem where I wanted to see how manageable it would be to accept everyone's sheets, which were all pretty darn good, and ended up having to try to manage the clusterfuck of 16 characters. I'd rather avoid that again, because these games do not lend themselves well to huge numbers of characters. >_>
Behold as the ever brave and stalwart Do'Karth faces his toughest adversary yet; fearing the ocean!

Also, Mr. Frizzle, Morty, sorry if I placed your characters on the dinghy without checking to see if you were actually taking part. I figured you were, and thought I should probably interact with your characters more since it's been a hell of a long time since our characters actually interacted!

You can blame Jorwen, Solveig, and Sevine for stealing Do'Karth's love from you, with special guest appearance by Roze.
As one might expect from a vessel christened the Courtesan, it was a rough ride all the way to Winterhold. The seas, even on placid days, rocked the ship in a motion that many of the company were ill-prepared for, and a good percentage of them were offending the concept of nutritional value by upchucking their hard-earned meals over the sides, in buckets, or in unfortunate cases, all over the decks. Do’Karth mercifully managed to maintain his meals, largely by only nibbling small portions and drinking sips enough to fend off hunger pangs and thirst but not having enough to nauseate himself with the rocking of the wood coffin that was ferrying them to their assignment. It was an uncomfortable arrangement that threatened both sickness and harsh hunger pangs, but it was a line that was walked knowing it saved him from something far worse.

Instead, it was the fear of being on the vast, lethal ocean that bothered Do’Karth. At least floating on most lakes, or swimming, you could stay close to shore and it was quite placid compared to the massive waves that rocked the ship in the worst of the storms. The khajiit refused any invitation to go topside, knowing that the vast unknown surrounding him would suddenly become real, as would the thoughts of being tossed overboard by a rogue wave or simply the rocking of the ship and subsequently swallowed beneath the icy waters’ surface, never to be seen again as he suffocated. While the crew was distracted with the others, complaining loudly and often about them and making mocking jeers at those not fortunate enough to have sea legs, Do’Karth made due with pinches of Sugar to keep himself steady and distracted. Days passed, and other than having sparse conversation with some of his companions, Do’Karth kept solidary and tried to sleep as much as possible, finding lying flat was the best way to resist the sickening motion, although the fear of capsizing and sinking kept things from being restful in the slightest.

When land was sighted and the ship was not being rocked as much by the waves, Do’Karth steadied himself and after a few minutes of mental preparation, climbed the ladder to access the above deck hatch to step outside for the only occasion that wasn’t to take turns emptying out a shit bucket. Bracing himself with his staff, Do’Karth walked tepidly to watch the approaching Winterhold coast and found it incredibly foreboding; had it not been for the College, a magnificent looking structure perched somehow atop a giant rock spire, it would have been hard to imagine anything resembling a village was here before, save for the occasional wood and stone structure that had survived the collapse that Do’Karth had heard so much about. It was only a reminder that the sea was not a place that any land-dwelling being was meant to be, and the gods seemed fit to remind them of that when dark thunderclouds came rolling in. The khajiit’s heart was pounding so hard, he had almost forgotten to breathe. The command to “launch the boats” might as well been an order to dig one’s own grave. There are many ways Do’Karth would have accepted as a means of dying, this is right near the bottom of the list of ways he does not wish to go. he thought as he followed the man ahead of him to his dinghy, forcing his legs to move as he stared wanting at the refugee of the fabric before him that was the only thing that could distract him from the predicament.

He was relieved to see the man ahead of him was Sagex, and Tsleeixth, the friendly argonian with the impossible to pronounce name, were among those he’d be with. Do’Karth clasped the bench below him with a desperate grip, his claws digging in. Along with nearly dying after his failed assassination attempt of the Mane many moons ago, this ranked among the worst experiences in the khajiit’s life.

“Please assure Do’Karth he will touch foot on land again. Cold sands, fucking snow, this one does not care, anything is preferable to this plain of Oblivion of which he has found himself.” He groaned to the Imperial and argonian and anyone else who was in ear shot.
@Dervish You ass. Just when I thought Mass Effect wasn't enough.

Interest.

I do have an ass, yes.
If I can manage the time, I have a healer in mind. My week is pretty short on time but weekends I can make up for it.

Let us know! It would be good to get you back in a game!

Also I have a quick question @Dervish @Leidenschaft will Soul Gem consumption be similar in the games? Fill 'em up and use them to charge something (or enchant) and they disappear?

Our interpretation is after they're charged and depleted, they probably crack or otherwise become unusable, but don't exactly vanish into nothingness.

Your signature makes it that much worse.

What's the matter, Zombie, can't bear it's power? It's weight, it's... girth?
Fantasy Name Generator is a pretty cool site if anyone needs to come up with a name. They have all Elder Scrolls races under the pop culture section.

With stuff like Elder Scrolls, I figure out what the influencing race is of a character (Bretons tend to have English and French names, Imperials Roman/ Latin, Nords Scandinavian, Redguards Moorish), look up a baby name and surname list for those cultures, and away we go.

Elves, khajiit, argonians, and orcs are a bit trickier, but usually I just look at what names exist already off of the Elder Scrolls wiki for character names, and either pick or alter names I find there, or see if there's a trend and build off of it. A lot of altmer women's names, for instance, end with wen or wyn, orc names have a lot of harsh sounding vowels like bru or gok, and khajiit tend to have sharper ones like kha or ko along with the prefix, which does mean something.

Oh, yeah, I had meant for it to not be her real name, and that she doesn't recall her real name, owing to a combination of trauma and the young age at which she lost her family. The name she has was given to her at the College, reflecting more on her Breton heritage while distancing her from her Forsworn roots.

EDIT - if that's all right, I can edit my CS to include this

This goes for everyone, but quoting you mainly because you're asking if it's too late to edit.

Don't forget, you guys have another week to polish up your character sheet before we go over them, so please feel free to use the time to flesh out details and your character's relationships with people in their histories, and go over the who, what, where, when, and whys of certain life events. We're giving them a quick read over as they come in, but we'll save actually critiquing and selecting the sheets until next week, so don't worry about rushing one out!

That said, I'm loving what's come in so far!

Also, if you guys have any questions or concerns about lore stuff or even if you want to run an idea by us that you're not sure about, hit us up!
I wrote a thing! Hopefully it's a good thing. I think I'm the first, apart from the GMs. Not surprising to me, I tend to get tunnel vision on stuff I'm super interested in. Anyway. Hope you guys like her.

I'm going to refrain from commenting on and critiquing any of the sheets until after the deadline in the spirit of fairness, but enjoy this sweetroll for all your hard work and being the first! You earned it.

The knife's there because my compass says there's an enemy nearby, but I think it's lying. Still, can't be too sure. Last thing you want is pastry time being interrupted by surprise troll.

Would a character who isn't good at combat be a fit for this roleplay? More of a silver tongue/rogue type than a fighter.

Absolutely! Had a few characters like that in the past, including a gentleman thief who was so useless at fighting he made up for it with charm and bumbling through every situation! You can make whatever kind of character you'd like, some things will of course be centered around fighting, but since this is Elder Scrolls and centered around medieval Britain and France for regional inspiration, plenty of scheming and just general horribleness all around.

.. I have been betrayed.

It's largely because you're a stanky Swedish hobo. We don't hold that against you. :D

Dunmer, Redguard and Khajit LITERALLY the best.

Altmer, Bosmer, and Nord L I T E R A L L Y the worst.

My last 3 Elder Scrolls RP characters were khajiit.

TIME FOR A BREAK FROM THAT.
