That has less to do with my social life than you think. I can't speak for the rest of the world, but in the city where I live, concerts, raves, parties, expo's, etc. are often promoted through Facebook's event system. It's a very useful way to keep track of my cultural interests.
I just rely on people to tell me things or invite me in person because otherwise even if I get an event invite on Facebook I say "maybe" and never go.
Someone invited me to some nerdcon in Detroit but I probably won't go because muh other obligations.
There far more fish in the sea.
