Korren Geoff
"Let's do it!"AppearanceIt's hard to tell at a glance how tall Korren is, as he's always sitting down. If you were to measure him though, you'd find him to be slightly taller than average at 5' 10'', but weighing only 134 pounds. His pale blonde hair always looks to be in dire need of a trim, being quite choppy and hanging down to his small brown eyes. His brow is almost always furrowed and his lips pressed together, but only because he's almost always focused on something. Whenever he isn't trying to focus, his face relaxes with a cheerful smile revealing a dimple on his left cheek.
His wardrobe doesn't change much from day to day, so you'll generally find him wearing dark tan corduroy pants and moccasin-style shoes. What does change is the color of whichever plain short or long-sleeved t-shirt Korren's wearing that day. He almost never goes two days in a row with the same color of shirt, and very few colors are off limits.

PersonalityKorren's an ambivert, but leans slightly towards introversion. As such, he comes off as a bit reserved in large groups or with people he's not very familiar with, but he always gives people a fair chance. He enjoys doing just about anything, but too much activity leaves him rather overwhelmed. He's much more content finding himself a corner somewhere to read, using the kindle he seems to have with him at all times.
As much as he loves reading, what Korren loves most is actually
writing. He tends towards urban and futuristic fantasy, but he'll write anything he has inspiration and creative freedom for. He hates being, and being seen as, self-conscious, so even though he's very nervous about people seeing things that he has written, he does his best not to show it. It helps that he's gotten quite good at hiding whenever he feels awkward or anxious.

BiographyIf there was one word to describe Korren now, it would be reflective, but he wasn't always that way. Growing up, he was below average when it came to grades, but he excelled in physical activity and loved playing all kinds of sports. The sport he was most interested in, however, was soccer. He practiced almost every chance he had, and made it into several small tournaments throughout elementary school. When he hit middle school, he was made striker of the local team.
His parents were very supportive of his hard work, and didn't worry too much about his grades as long as he passed. He was known for his talent throughout the state's soccer scene and was considered a prodigy. He had already been offered a scholarship to a school a few counties away that specialized in various sports, and he was sure he was going to take it.
Life had other plans, as it generally does. Early summer, just after Korren graduated middle school. He was thirteen. His mom had picked him up from a hiking trip with some of his friends, and they were heading home. The day was a bit cloudy, but still a rather pleasant day. It was supposed to rain that evening, which is why Korren and his friends had decided to take a half-day hike instead of a camping trip like originally intended. A car moving much too quickly towards an intersection red-light slammed into the passenger side.
Korren awoke in the hospital a few days later, but never fully recovered. For the rest of his life, he would be paralyzed from the waist down. Luckily, his mother had been unhurt. The driver of the other vehicle had died in the accident.
He returned home two weeks later, but he had fallen into dispair, followed be depression. Never again would he be on the field the he had worked so hard at before. He shut himself up in his room, only leaving every once in a while other than for meals. It was here that he started reading, at first because he had nothing better to do, but soon because it was something he genuinely enjoyed. Since he was not yet brave enough to go out public because of his need to always be in a wheelchair, his father purchased him a kindle so that he could get books online.
The summer passed and September was just around the corner. His friends had visited a few times over the season, but Korren wished to be alone most of the time. Besides, they didn't really have much to do when they were there, and so eventually drifted apart. Now the school season was coming up, and the family wasn't sure what to do.
Korren and his parents spent some time discussing, and eventually decided that he would be tutored from home. His father spent the next month looking into hiring a specialized tutor, when he found Neils. Neils was a young man of only 28, but he was very calm, considerate, and intelligent, and the Geoff family fell in love with him immediately.
It was with Neils that Korren discovered both his joy in writing and learning. It turns out that it wasn't that learning itself was something he didn't enjoy, it was just the method the school had used. Korren was very hands-on, learning so much more on a field trip then a lesson in a classroom ever could, and so Neils used that. They'd go somewhere to learn three or four times a week, whether it was specifically for the lesson or just for the new scenery.
Thanks very much to Neils, Korren began to be lifted out of his depression. It was slow, but apparent. He even began posting some of his stories online on a website for amateur writers before getting his very site, and while he's certainly not well-known, several people liked his work enough to continue to keep an eye out for his new releases and even recommend him to others.
However, things changed again when Neils left to visit with his extended family over the summer of Korren's senior year. This wasn't anything out of the ordinary, he left every year. What
was different was that he didn't return this time. The Geoff family tried to get in contact with him, but there was never any reply. After some investigation work, Korren's father learned that there had been a family emergency and that Neils wouldn't be returning.
It was by now already several months into the school year, and Korren's parents were having trouble finding a new tutor in general, especially one to complete his high school education at even close to the level Neils had started it. Korren decided to take the initiative. He approached his parents, and told them that he would transfer back to public schooling. There was a high school not too far from their house, and while he had missed almost half the school year, he could work hard and catch up with help from Neils' preparation.
He was nervous for sure, he hadn't really socialized for a few years, but Korren was ready. He hoped.
Project ReasonHis tutor's surprise resignation and their failed attempt at finding a new tutor caused Korren to transfer to the school halfway into the year without the education.
OtherKorren's family consists of his mother and father who run a bakery in town, his identical twin sisters who are three years younger than him, and Rachel and Oliveria, their pet dog and ferret respectively.
