Cue tea bagging of epic proportions.

And, in all seriousness, I'd wager that Ansgar is the second most capable melee fighter. Being a trencher his whole life, one has to be able to survive the brutal melee struggles that come with storming a trench. Sure, he doesn't have fancy OP Warp powers or big weapons, but he has a shovel. And that's plenty for him.
@Heckno12

I'll have to tweak in a mention then, shouldn't take over long.
@Heckno12

Argh, I always miss something, don't I?

Well, sometimes smart has to give way in favor of balls. And, as we all know, Guardsman are issued, at absolute worse, balls of steel. It only goes uphill from there, really. Sure, they may normally have flashlights and t-shirts, but if you can club the enemies of Man to death with your titanic balls, who needs guns?
Ansgar Staudinger

Ansgar was simply one of the numerous bodies that found themselves being coralled towards the square where some royal decree of some sort, or another, was to be made. The soldier himself had not been awake for terribly long, and had a pounding headache from the night of hard drinking. Frankly, he was surprised he was awake right now, and so early too! That had been his life the past few days since he arrived here in the capitol, was drinking himself into a coma and ignore the refugees as best he could. Unlike quite a few good samaritans that had been helping refugees and the like, the man had fled from the now conquered island quite a few years prior to that. Yet here he was, faced with once again the prospect of going back south towards such places. It was unlikely anyone who knew him had survived, which made him rather less averse to the idea of the matter. However, he had to figure out a group that would march their happy asses down there and not die. He didn't wear the colors of his home anymore, it was too obvious if someone was trying to track him these days still for what happened, yet he did spot something that might be of use. Two wearing the colors of Rjaskav, long standing enemies of his own home nation. There seemed to be another who seemed interested in helping, but he could not get a solid read on him. Too much of a hangover, really. Yet he didn't feel any real ill will towards them. The infighting between both nations was as much keeping one another sharp, as it was anything else.

Since he had no identifying markings that related him to Solvnir and, by all accounts, both nations were wiped out, there was no qualms on the part of Ansgar with working with the two. They seemed competent enough, and he casually approached the two of them, lance resting on his shoulders, walking with a relaxed gait, apparently unconcerned with the royal decree's hidden motives. Why waste state manpower when you could con glory seekers and those trying to make their fortune to do the work for you? It made sense to the former Solvnir soldier, so he gave it no further thought. Rather, he spoke at the two Rjaskav men, since he caught the tail end of one mentioning heading down southwards to do some scouting on the matter, follow through with the royal decree, all that fine business. "Waiting only delays the inevitable, eh? Got no stake in the matter outside survival, but that is as fine a stake as any, I would wager." Riches really meant little to Ansgar, as long as he could afford his next drink, he was happy. Odd behavior for a man of Solvnir, but he had distanced himself as much as he could, at least off the field of battle. In a fight? It would likely give him away as a former member of their standing army. But, for now? They likely would not be able to tell the difference.

Do you want the Krieger to join you? He has no qualms about killing people with the same thing he could dig their graves with. I think him shoveling people would be entertaining... (I'm now pondering an unfortunate loss of gear to force this, curse my indecision)
Ansgar had not a chance to act on the actual orders that the Sister gave, watching with a rather even expression, hidden as it was beneath the gasmask, as the warping psyker kicked the doors open and stormed out. Considering those had been cargo doors, that was a kind of impressive feat of strength. Watching her march out, he felt that familiar stillness of air that made him scowl. Great, more warp trickery, the Grenadier thought to himself, glancing at the others of the group, and to the ladder that the one Sister, Solares, was taking towards the roof. So be it, it would likely be best to provide explosive support from the roof. Short of using one of the anti armor rounds, he would do little to no damage to the Rhino outside the paint job and decorative bits. He never understood decorative bits, it just made the things bigger targets really. However, he had to act now, since the psyker was sitting out there, yelling and proclaiming doom on the civilians. He frankly was surprised they hadn't already opened fire. They likely had nothing to lose, so why not try their luck? It made digging survivors out of strong points such a high cost operation, they had nothing to lose, and nowhere to run. She might scare them off now, but it would be a problem later.

"Heading for the roof, providing covering fire from there, ma'am." With that, he made a hard sprint for the ladder, hauling himself up several rungs at a time, showing off the conditioning needed to haul all his gear around when on the march. Or when acting as engineering support for his Grenadier comrades. However, as he hauled himself upwards, he had to consider the situation at hand. Raining grenades down on the hostiles would do nicely, but if he weren't with the Inquisition, well, it would be far less pleasant answering to why he had slaughtered civilians. Sure, once it was proven that they were revolting, it wouldn't be a problem, but until then, it would be irritating. Inquisitorial authority might make things easier, sure as sure. Once he hauled himself onto the roof, he scanned briefly to see if he spotted Solares before moving into position and overwatching the courtyard, barely able to see the psyker, and trained the grenade launcher on the mob. They make a hostile move, and several impact frags would make things a rather messy situation for them.

Hmmm... for some reason, that sounds familiar... !

I have no idea what you are talking about, none at all! Nope, none what so ever.
@Rithy

Yours weren't, mods made the guards terrifying, by accident too. Sure, they weren't psykers, but they acted like they had unlimited authority. Which they pretty much did. Yaaaaaaay.
