Maybe I'll play Cyberpunk 2077 some more. My brother maxed out my character a year and a half ago. Haven't seen him since. Miss him.

”Mr. Dawson, why don't you have a seat?” He said, gesturing to the brown leather chair he had his hand resting on.

The men behind Adel stepped forward. They each placed a firm hand around his upper arms, half-guiding, half-dragging Adel to the seat. If Adel struggled in any way, their plan would have been quickly subduing him with a blow to the cheek - but besides tensing up, the man didn’t fight.

They shoved Adel into the seat, twisting it so it faced the mirror. Vincent still had that smirk on his face as he picked up a bowl of shaving cream and an applicator brush on the counter.

Slowly, methodically, Vincent applied shaving cream to Adel's face while speaking.

”Now, my men tell me that you and your spies have decided to make it your home in White Pine. Not that I care too much about that.”

He set down the bowl, picking out a barber's blade instead. He opened it, the fresh gleam of a clean, sharp blade within.

“What I really care about, though, is who set you up to do this.”

The blade pressed against Adel's neck as Vincent leaned over, staring at the man through the mirror.

”So, what'll it be, Canary? You gonna sing?”

Nocturnal Memoirs (2024)

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

New post is up! It's a bit short this time, so don't feel pressure of writing too much this round. ;) Let's explore!

It's Days turn!

Pyramid of Giza, Secret Sacrificial Chamber

@Days

“Auri…?” Cosy patted her way down to Auri, kneeling beside her. She stared with sick, pained eyes, seeing Auri’s own sickness reflected back.

“Auri, I don't like this room. Let's leave. I wanna go.”

A pause. “You know where the exit is, right? I… I wanna go back to the tents.”

Cosy gave her big sister the biggest pleading eyes, leaning on her a bit. She depended on her sister heavily. But she wouldn't come to realize until much later how much she really did, in fact, depend on her sister.

Pyramid of Giza, Outside -> Stairwell

@Days, @Lexisheeps

From where Ramses was, outside of the temple, clouds would gather. Clouds. On such a bright and sunny day such as these. As he made his way forward, the clouds would darken, and dark bolts of light would strike upward from the top of the Pyramid to the clouds, stirring the darkness swelling of the Pyramid of Giza.

Something terrible was brewing.

Within the Pyramid, in the dusty tomb room, the black orb was beside itself with rage, flinging bolts at the walls and the floor. It hadn't managed to kill anyone, one was only wounded, while the other somehow managed to teleport out of the Pyramid upon getting hit.

Theo, as he leaned against the wall of the stairwell, would feel a curious sensation overcome him. The magics of the Pyramid seemed to deaden the sensation of pain in his shoulder, giving him an almost euphoric sensation.

Theo would also notice one other thing. In his peripheral vision, at the top of the narrow stairs, there was a glowing purple light. The light seemed to grow, calling softly to Theo, beckoning him to come up the steps.

If he were to do so, he would be faced with a circular room, a massive purple gem growing up from the ground. And, within the gem, was a key.

Thaaanks, Days. Looking forward to the speech!

Ciara Ventura

Wingram Clinic
@Nanaya

It was searing.

It was refreshing.

It was healing.

Air hissed through Ciara's teeth as the torn page made their mark and fused with her. She could feel skin being mended along her back - blisters reducing to normal skin, gashes stitching together to become whole skin and flesh. Even her own mind was soothed from the horrors she heard in the fight against Professor Alto.

She felt… much better. To say she felt much better was an understatement. Her strength and her vitality was restored to her, and she sat more upright on the patient's table.

"Your page as my patient will regenerate in this book twenty four hours from now - March 3rd, 1526 SR at 9:47 AM. Should you sustain injuries like this before then, I can administer basic healing magic or medicine, though it will not be as effective against more serious wounds."

Ciara blinked at that before her brows delicately furrowed. That could prove problematic, seeing as her duel was set to be at 6:00 PM that evening. It seemed this was a one-time shot, and any injuries sustained after this… would be more troublesome to mend.

She would have to be careful.

Doctor Payton concluded the healing session, and Ciara stood from the patient's table.

“Thank you for seeing me so quickly, Doctor. I appreciate it.”

She took her sword in hand and excused herself from the room, and walked past the other waiting patient's and out of the clinic. Once outside, a shadow limb took the sword from her hand again, hovering just behind her as she strode forward. It didn't take long to reach the crowd gathering at the Leyline Attunement Zone, and Ciara thanked the fates she was early. She spotted Chunji in the crowd. Good, one other had made it, at least.

She moved among the crowd so she was at the front, able to easily see the pillar. The same pillar that she had seen the first day, that had called to her. Now, her curiosity would finally be sated. Now, she would finally experience proper attunement.

Ciara stood there, arms crossed, feeling slightly grimey in her bloodied and torn clothes, but knowing she didn't have the time to change. She waited patiently, eager to complete this final task so she could rest for the fated duel later that evening.

@Lexisheeps Thank you!
New post is up! I've auto-ed Stella just a little bit, but one can assume she will now open a portal to a secret location, and that story will go on from there!

Undisclosed Location

@WhiteAngel25

The door had slid shut behind Stella, leaving her alone in the testing chambers.

Von Galloes pressed a button on the console from behind the observation window. “When you're ready, dear.” His voice echoed over the intercom.

Stella had raised her hand, and zap! She would feel it. The power of the heart of hearts, coursing through her arm and out her fingertips as a black electrical ray struck the target, leaving it half-melted.

“Hmm…”

There were a few fingertips on the handheld console in Von Galloes’ hands, and the ‘necklace’ around Stella's neck suddenly buzzed with static life, shocking Stella in rapid succession.

“I've calibrated your frequency, and in turn your new powers. Give the target a try again.” Von Galloes said coldly, not giving any indication of remorse that he'd just shocked his daughter.

A new target switched out the old one. Should Stella try her powers again, she would find an interesting result. Instead of shredding the target like before, a swirling vortex would burst into life from the contact point. Looking inside, it seemed a swirling purple sandstorm was within, with ethereal glowing lights blinking amidst the dust.

Von Galloes was slack-jaw as he watched on. Excitement only known to a researcher grew on his face.

“Yes… Yes, this is it. My daughter, you've done it. This… This is exactly what we needed. What I've been seeking all this time.”

A pause. Von Galloes shifted his gaze from the portal to his daughter.

“You deserve a reward. Are you ready to enact my will now? I want you to hit the target again, but this time, envision… [indecipherable]. You will ride the heart of hearts like wings, and the world will be your oyster.”

The Louvre, Wing of the Stage

@Days

Monsieur Dupont smiled, and clapped Theo on the shoulder. “My boy, you might fool.the world but I know you're a bit afright. Heavens know I would be too, unveiling my first big discovery in front of the man.

He let out a boisterous laugh, hands going to his stomach as he rumbled in good humor. He dramatically wiped a tear away, and leveled a warm look at Theo.

“No, my dear boy. I'm honored to open for you tonight. This is a very special day, if I dare say. A day where you are a boy no more, but a man, truly and honestly.”

With that, one of the stage hands tapped Monsieur Dupont on the shoulder, and he nodded. “It's time.”

He gave a wink to Theo. “You'll do fine, Monsieur de Villiers.

Monsieur Dupont straightened his jacket, and moved into the spotlight of the center stage.

The Louvre, Gala, Main Area

@Lexisheeps, @WhiteAngel25, @Days

Rodrigo Vandelez watched patiently as Nick and Thierry moved to the dance floor, before he turned his attention to Sabrina, fishing three small gift boxes from his inner suit pocket.

“I have a little something for you, Madame Lennox. You and your newly reunited kids. Consider it a… token of goodwill, of letting bygones be bygones.”

He pressed the golden gift box into the palm of her hand, and did the same for Auri and Subject #3. If they were to open it, the identical gift would be in each: a gold and diamond bracelet with fine detail, shimmering when beheld. A very expensive gift.

Rodrigo looked over Subject #3's shoulder to see another Bergman strolling up, and took that as his cue to leave.

“Ladies,” he smiled sweetly at the three of them, “As you were.”

Subject #3 had a big smile on her face. She didn't really understand why she was getting a gift, but it was very pretty and she had never seen anything like it before. It was held delicately in her hand, like a gem.

She of course took one of the cakes as Aaron offered it, remembering the last time she had seen the man, he had put a strange light in her eyes, and told her he'd learn more about her brain and augmentations. That was that, though, and she hadn't heard anything else since.

Would now be an improper time? Well, it couldn't hurt, right?

Subject #3 smiled, her eyes widened and innocent. “Aaron- wait. No, isn't it Uncle Aaron? Uhm, have my test results come back yet?”

She paused, before she suddenly remembered. “Oh, look at this!” She cracked open the small gift box. “One of the gala people gave it to me!”

The lights dimmed and the music slowed to a stop. A light shone on the center stage in front of the draped artifact, and the murmur of the audience died down as Monsieur Dupont took center stage. He gave a flourish of his arm, with a warm smile on his face.

“Ladies and gentlemen, you're in for a treat tonight. Hailing from this very city, a man you all know and love, has continued on with the Noble de Villiers line of archeologists and explorers to give us something no eyes have seen, and no souls have lived to witness in our day and age.”

There was a camera crew in front of the stage with a camera on a metal appendage, filming live for local news and art show channels.

“Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we celebrate history. Tonight, we will be in shock and awe as a cornerstone of history makes it way back home to the Louvre. And tonight, we have none other than Monsieur Theodore de Villiers to thank. May I warmly welcome our breath-taking, hard-working archaeologist, and may I also mention he's Paris’ top fifty bachelors - Theo!”

He clapped and stepped to the side, giving Theo the cue to take center stage and whisk the audience away.

The Louvre, Mr. Cress’ Office

@Lexisheeps

“Oh please, Mr. Cress,” she said, smacking the lollipop in her mouth as she enjoyed its sweet cherry flavour. “No need to get all riled up, I was merely confirming you and your other senile folks hadn't gotten any funny ideas like trying to upend my boss’ hard work!”

His proposition intrigued her, even though she could only laugh. If he really thought she was just any researcher, he would be sorely mistaken.

“Hmm!” She kicked her feet a little as she sat on his desk. “Now a meeting with the big boss himself, what a thought.”

She leaned back, tilting her to give Mr. Cress a knowing smirk. “Depending on how tonight goes, a meeting between the two of them may very well indeed be the thing to do! Then again…”

She stood, stretching a bit before she made her way to the door. “It may be less of a meeting and more of a begging, by the time the night is over.”

She smiled as she held the door open. “Do enjoy yourself, Mr. Cress.”

And like that, she was gone.

Just trying to push the plot forward. ;)
