Current You'd think after like 15 years I'd stop feeling like a fraud when writing posts but I still do which is both a statement on my self confidence and a compliment to how good my partners are as writers

Earlier Rusalka mentioned the 'Lightning Returns incident'.

This is like that.

But not nearly as caustic.

@Fabricant451

It is apparently evident I have lost this battle as all my tactics have been futile...but like metal I shall never die! \m/

I've never taken the stance that someone can or can't like metal, that'd be really, really arrogant and wrong of me. I just don't like it when people like to pull the whole 'music was better back then' thing or throw all of pop music under a bus or do the whole hat wearing 'my favorite genre is the best, fuck all other genres' like we was on Youtube or something. Like whatever you want, I don't care. But I also would like to discuss with people their gripes with other genres they dislike and have it be a civil thing. Maybe one day. In three hundred years.

Also I just get all passionate about the pointless crap I love.
Oh don't get me wrong, I'm a total Marina fan, been to two live shows, own her albums, all that.

But her boobs are otherworldly.
Marina and the Diamonds doe. -cough-

-rolls around-

The diamonds are her boobs.

Also anyone who tries to justify Blurred Lines should just be punched in the face. Or the genitals. Or both.
@Rusalka Pop artists still make more money than I do, though. So, even if their music is shit, I have to give them props for 'brainwashing' an entire country. Lol.

I can honestly see both sides. My boyfriend is an avid 'old music' advocate. Like... he'd love for big band to come back into play. And I'm sort of the same way, I suppose. I dunno... I just enjoy music. That's always been my stance on this. Even if it's slapped together with shitty lyrics. Doesn't mean I'm going to start listening to Rack City or other such... interesting songs, but I don't... discredit them. Someone enjoys them. -shrugs-

...Most of this is just me trying to justify the fact that I now have a 'Today's Hits' station on my pandora... >.>; Mostly because I've been in the mood for music I can dance to. So ye. My tastes change from time to time. I roll with the punches, I suppose.

You shouldn't HAVE to justify listening to Today's Hits.

Just because they are pop songs doesn't make them any less musically worthy than anything else.

It's like the people who say rap isn't music or that EDM doesn't count as music because people use computers. It's nonsense.
@Fabricant451 *imitating Jackie Chan's Uncle* One more thing! Though I say that metal is my most cherished genre, that doesn't mean I'm a hater of all other music. I still love classical and from time to time I'll listen to punk, dubstep, EDM, industrial music, anime soundtracks, old country, jazz, classic rock, 70s-80s music, 90s gangsta rap and the blues. The only music I do revile completely however is pop. Pop is fake and ignorant. It's a popularity contest with no winner and the music is just so processed and cookie cuttered that it lacks the true soul and the captivation good music possesses. It's not born from the heartfelt emotions of an artist, but slapdashed and scraped together with shit lyrics that make no sense at all.

"Royals" says hello.

Lana Del Rey says hello.

Michael Jackson says hello.

Mayer Hawthorne says hello.

Norah Jones says hello.

Meiko says hello.

Vienna Teng says hello.

You're discounting an entire genre based on the incorrect assumption that pop musicians like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and the like are somehow not actual artists. Please don't do that.
