Games do do this. Ubisoft does it. You buy their Ultimate Golden Explorer's Edition or whatever and it comes with the 30 dollar season pass so you just get all the post-release content for free since you paid upfront.
And then Assassin's Creed still offers premium currency for people that would rather instantly get their extra stabby sword instead of do it the long way.
Then you understand the struggle.
