Current You'd think after like 15 years I'd stop feeling like a fraud when writing posts but I still do which is both a statement on my self confidence and a compliment to how good my partners are as writers

This doesn't even make sense as a shitpost.

Good thing it wasn't, then. But here, let's break this down, shall we?

1. I don't know what voice in your head told you that was my metric because it sure as hell wasn't mine.

It's not a voice in my head, it's your own voice. I know it's hard to follow posts but the train of conversation went as follows:

-Red Dead 2 is great.
-Great at being nothing mind-blowing yeah.
-If your metric for quality products is 'mind-blowing' it's a wonder you play anything.

I put forth the claim that Red Dead Redemption 2 is both great and, later, a quality product, both of which I believe to be true. Your response to the initial claim of RDR2 being great was derisive in tone and came with the implication that it's 'nothing mind-blowing' which is damning with faint praise at best and outright criticism at worst. You might have a stronger leg here if your initial entry into the topic of RDR2's subjective quality didn't also include the phrase 'nothing mind-blowing'.

You can see how your repeated use of that specific turn as well as your established apathy towards the game and its hype cycle might lead one to the assumption that your metric for quality is 'mind-blowing'.

2. How would I know it was nothing special if I didn't play it?

I didn't imply you didn't play it or even infer you didn't. But if you want me to seriously answer the question then there are a variety of ways, namely watching many of the various streams, reactions, footage, and general tip and hint videos about the game that have been all over the place since Friday.

I honestly think you have played it. I don't know why you would purchase something you were clearly down on or at the very least mildly disinterested but maybe you rented it or whatever, it's your money and time and it's yours to do with as you wish. I fundamentally disagree with you with the game being just 'alright' and I'd be happy to elaborate onto why I think the game is downright fascinating as far as AAA games go.

Have an espresso and take another whack.

I don't drink coffee, I'm woke enough as is.

Sounds like it was a good movie, then. All the positive buzz was well earned.
Haggs is an aesthetics whore.

That's a compliment.
Read Dead 2 is alright, nothing mind blowing.

Yeah, but Red Dead 2 is great.
Me: Soul Calibur characters are trash

Me: wtf I love Soul Calibur now
The one thing Evelyn hadn't counted on was a living legend of fame being quite so personable, not that she was rightly complaining about it. If anything it went a long way to soothing the awkward nerves that came with meeting anyone, let alone someone whose name was known here, there, and even across the water. Evelyn's first thought was that Miss Oakley seemed so...normal. Not in a bad way, of course, but when watching an entertainer and hearing people talk about them in excited tones and breathless wonders it really makes them seem so much larger than life. Perhaps, Evelyn mused, that wast the broader point. She was glad to see to know the gunslinger wasn't the type to tell her fans to hit the road running.

"Is it so obvious?" Evelyn responded in kind towards the remark about not being from around here; if the fancy choice of dress didn't make it obvious then Evelyn's manner of speaking certainly did. Though she tried to hide it, her accent poked through her tone which made her words come off as either a bit slower or a bit too fancy depending on who it was she spoke with. Trying to mask her natural voice just made her speak with a drawl that was often construed as mockery - so she tended to let her voice be as normal.

"My name is Evelyn Albright, Miss Oakley, and my father is a property owner just outside of town as well as the proprietor of the bank." Was Evelyn being a bit too forthcoming? Perhaps, but such was the price to pay when struck with a bit of star. "Right now the only thing I would like to know is you, Miss Oakley." Evelyn was speaking in earnest as she moved to sit on the stool next to the entertainer. "If it's not an imposition, of course. I've never known someone as entertaining or half as talented."
There was a moment of relief when AVA turned over the gun and that was the first time since the grand escape from the confusion where Sophie felt like something was going right. It was a small moment for sure, but small moments made all the difference. Of course, AVA didn't have to do that, Sophie was adamant in her work and belief that with proper initial oversight that beings, even created ones, could be trusted to make their own decisions - and AVA was the first step in that radical thought process. Sophie didn't order AVA to comply, it was a choice and it showed a great deal of trust in the doctor that AVA parted with it. It might not have been the right time to crack a smile, but her mood was still lifted all the same.

"Well, the obvious option would be to start at the scene of the crime, but they've most likely got it under security right now. Knowing the cause of death or anything at all would be a boon, but I don't fancy our chances against law enforcement even with your abilities, AVA." Sophie was doing what she did best: Thinking. She had to balance what they did know, namely that AVA was innocent, with what they didn't know which was...a considerable amount. Innocent until proven guilty didn't apply to someone that many people didn't even see as a person.

"I think out first option should be to get to a more secure location...like a safehouse. I think I know where to go...she's probably the only ally we'll have." Sophie was being somewhat vague but doing so with a confidence of self - no doubt she was trying to sound in control and brave for the benefit of AVA and whether or not it was working for AVA it seemed to be working for Sophie and that was arguably the more important thing. "Here, take my hand. Until we get there, if anyone asks, let me do the talking, okay? We'll walk it, we can't risk public transportation."
The greatest trick Rockstar ever pulled was making a survival simulator for the mainstream market.
It's just unfortunate that they seem to all start out with good intentions and then they go totally off the rails and start making unnecessary changes that damage the final product.

Shame that studio oversight is a thing cuz execs will sacrifice passion for profit.
