"Three, I think, gawd it's all such a dizzying blur that I can't even remember the details. It's between one and four. Math and me don't get along so let's just go with that, m'kay? This year, though, I'm bringing a friend. My best friend, by the way, so play nice. The two of us are going to have, just, the best time ever! Believe it, bitches!"

► What team color would you like? Do you think you'll get it?

"Oh puh-lease, you all know it's not pink without me. I hope to see some ah-dorable new faces there this year, and hopefully some uh-trocious ones so that I can make them beautiful."

► Is this your choice to attend? If not, what can we do to accommodate you?

"It is always my choice, sweetie, and this year is no different. Well, it's slightly different because I've chosen to bring Mickey with me and I promise you'll all just love her. Because if you don't I have a very sharp pair of scissors and I know how much hair dye is lethal on consumption. And you can accommodate me by having at least one hot counselor this year, look the last few years haven't exactly been the kind of guys to gossip about, y'know?"

► Any allergies, disabilities, or special circumstances we should be aware of?

"I have a nut allergy - but not that good nut if you know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about dick Mickey has told me I shouldn't include that in this. Sorry for the sharpie stain."

► Do you have experience with any winter sports? Would you like lessons?

"Please, I'm the next Johnny Weir."

► What are you looking forward to?

"Showing Mickey all the spots and seeing all my pinkies again. It's just not the same talking to them in DMs. Virtual hugs just aren't the same and guarantee at least three of them are in the middle of a style crisis."

► What are you not looking forward to?

"Camp food is hardly gourmet. Maybe this year will be different but I doubt it."

► Tell us a little bit about yourself:

"You know, I should probably sue Mean Girls for stealing my entire identity of 'too gay to function' and I know some people out there are rolling their eyes and saying how I'm doing 'the movement' no favors or blah blah, bitch let me be me and live my best life, alright? The only thing in my closet is my extensive wardrobe, some of which I stole from Mickey but whatever I wear at least half her clothes better anyway. So, yes, obviously I'm gay but whatever, it's 2020 and while there's nothing wrong with being straight it does mean you've got a higher likelihood of being fucking boring, and not just boring but like booooooooring. Get with the times, babes, kiss your homies and don't say no homo this time. Anyway, yes I can be catty, yes I love gossip, no I don't care that some see me as little more than an accessory - the little G.B.F. that you can show off to all your friends, whatever, I made my bed and I'm going to lay in it - preferably with someone who makes me say daddy and actually mean it for a change. I'm limber and agile and I'm good with my hands. Take that to mean what you want it to mean."

"I'm comfortable in myself and I know I make some uncomfortable but that says more about them than it does me. I value loyalty but at the same time I live for gossip but that just means I won't go blab a secret if someone gives one to me but if you say it loud enough for a group to hear then I'm sorry but that's fair game. I can be a bit of a slut but that doesn't make me easy, it just means I don't really do relationships, I'm just enjoying myself without any of the strings or anything holding me back. Of course I can be a bit of a bitch and super...judgey and superficial but, like, I'm sorry if I see someone walk out of the house with sweat pants and a shirt that's at least four days worn and unwashed I'm going to call them a slob but if I see someone overweight at the gym I'm going to say good for them and wish them well. ► Noteworthy appearance traits:

Stands at a rather short 5'2" but walks with the swagger and confidence of someone 6'0". Has been known to wear masculine and feminine clothes - enjoys pants as much as skirts, in other words. Sometimes wears makeup, often wears nail polish, always looks stylish.

► Noteworthy luggage items:

A makeup kit and various tools for styling hair including hair dye and different scissors and irons. Cellphone never leaves their possession. A lot of bubblegum and lolipops because both of them show off how good they are with their mouth.

► Likes/Dislikes:

✔ Disney cartoons, but only when watching with Mickey. It's something of a ritual they have. A ritual consisting of Mickey really loving cartoons and Andi joining in for the duet songs but otherwise not really getting super invested in them. But it's fun and that's all that matters.
✔ Trashy reality television. It's literally must-see tv as far as Andi is concerned.

✖ Guys that are smaller/softer than him. Andi prefers a guy who can toss him around like a goddamn ragdoll. Not that he wont be friend with them, this is purely in the camp of sexual partners.
✖ People that exclusively listen to Top 40. It's basically one step away from being the type of person who gets excited when pumpkin spice comes back every year.
✖ People that name their cars. Like, what's up with that? Also stop giving them gender unless your car is Lightning fucking McQueen.

► Brief history:

Andi was in a weird place within his family because of that silly little thing called generational expectations. As the child of a family who is quite proud of their success as Chinese immigrants, Andi had a lot of pressure from a far too young age. His father inherited the family business, a fairly successful advertising and marketing firm that essentially sold bullshit 'Chinese herbal remedies' to dumb white families who couldn't tell the difference between China, Japan, and Korea if you asked them which one Tokyo was in. His mother, truly living up to her potential, worked at a fairly upscale clothing store. Andi, being the only son of the family, was expected to follow in the footsteps and go to school for business and be groomed for taking over the company. And then Andi's dad walked in on a twelve year old Andi kissing a boy from school. No rod was spared that night. What was excused as 'dumb playing' as a kid became a heated confrontation when a year and a half later Andi had the talk with his family and was again given a rather hurtful punishment in response. He was still expected to be 'normal' and follow the plan of his family. At age 14, when Andi showed no signs of being 'normal', in a fit of rage during a heated argument, Andi's father told him to get out of his house, only much harsher language was used.

Fortunately, Andi had a savior in the form of a friend named Michaela, aka Mickey, who immediately opened her doors to him. The two were already friends, but they became room mates and best friends damn near overnight. Andi had saved his allowance over the years and had the good sense to know the PIN for his dad's banking account and was able to make a withdrawal that Andi said was a "new life" fund. Since then, Andi has done part time work at a beauty salon near Mickey's home; he has every intention of one day opening his own salon because if there's one thing he's passionate about it's his love of hair and making people feel beautiful and confident because of it. He may never see his family again but as soon as he turns eighteen he's legally changing his name anyway so good riddance to them. Mickey is his family now.

"Nah, after four years this is finally the one where I come back against my will. Maybe I'll stick around for another year if y'all finally get a half decent spread. I don't wanna see no foie gras, I can't even pronounce it!"

► Do you have experience with any winter sports? Would you like lessons?

"I'm about the only black guy in America that plays a mean ice hockey, and I don't even like hockey all that much, least it's better than baseball. But nah, I don't need any lessons but a true warrior never stops learning."

"Becoming 21 so I can be taken seriously as an adult. Oh you mean at camp? I'm doin' a hat trick this time. Try and stop me."

► What are you not looking forward to?

"Becoming 25 and wondering if my prime is past date. Aw, shit, did it again, you mean for camp again, right? Someone's probably gonna put rocks in snowballs and that shit always sucks."

► Tell us a little bit about yourself:

'Sent to earth as a baby to destroy it but hit my head and now I fight to protect it from threats. Master of the kamehameha, lover of banquet feasts, looking for my Bulma or Videl cuz Chi Chi need'a chill.' "Aight, so, look, you already know about me since this ain't my first time but I'll play along and humor y'all. Yeah, course I know I'm not actually Goku but that's not what my nickname means; it just means I hold his ideals close to my heart, except for the fact where I lowkey think he might be brain damaged from his fall as a kid but that's besides the point. Like my main man Goku, I value hard work and I really don't like it when people want something but think of a million ways to take the path of least resistance to get it. I don't believe anyone is above redemption, but in the same token if you fuck with me or mine? Then I will not stop until you understand who you fucked with and know not to ever do it again. "Go ahead and ask Nicky and he'll tell you I'm the most loyal person out there. I don't like havin' beef with anyone and there are few things lower than someone who'll shake your hand while hiding the knife he's gonna stab your back with in the other hand. I like to think I'm a leader, that I inspire confidence but really? That might just be because I have an endless amount of charisma and energy and what better way to channel that then by using my power for good. Nothing I hate more than seeing someone standing up against the wall at a dance or sitting by themselves at lunch, y'know? So it's something of a personal mission for me to ensure that everyone I come into contact with be it for one minute or one hour leaves thinking 'Hey, that Mike guy? What a cool motherfucker'. Sure, some people out there might think it's not cool that I'm into anime and shit but to them I say: what's cooler than being passionate about something? What's cooler than being comfortable enough to not give a shit what people think about your interests? It's a lesser being that brings others down when bringing them up is an option. ► Noteworthy appearance traits:

One time at camp he rolled with the 'lock, this winter he's going with a fade and it's clean. Don't let the above average height fool you, he's the same height as Goku and almost as ripped as him. It's the only metric that matters, least he ain't Vegeta short.

► Noteworthy luggage items:

A custom hockey stick that has Turtle Hermit colors. Some video games and controllers for if people want to have indoor activities - but no one touches his fightstick, that cost him more than the counselor job is paying. Some green goods that if anyone asks is for some tea for when it gets cold. It's not for tea, obviously, but it goes well in baked goods.

► Likes/Dislikes:

✔ Fighting games. That sense of community and the sense of true competition, it's unmatched. Some people will try to compare it against real sports but the difference is, real sports don't have hundreds, thousands of people all competing and whittling it down to the best in the world. His main game is DB FighterZ but he also plays a mean Tekken and Street Fighter and has placed highly in EVO every year he's entered since the second year.
✔ Chocolate Moon Pies. While not overly fond of sugary stuff anymore, a man can have his vices and what better vice is there than the chocolate and marshmallow confectionary concoction that he absolutely orders from Amazon. He keeps count and if anyone touches one without his permission, they're getting smacked harder than Yamcha.

✖ People that put disrespect on the Buu Arc just because they think it shoulda ended with Cell - those the same fools that think it shoulda ended with Freeza. Without the Buu arc there's no Majin Vegeta, there's no Vegito, hell there's no Videl and that's a sin on god.
✖ The kind of people who still put up posters of Scarface. They're always some scrawny wannabe dude or some bro who thinks because they know a black guy that they have a pass.
✖ Wi-Fi Kids. Get an ethernet cord before you try to come in and try your wack ass combos.

► Brief history:

Mike Carter knew the pain of not having any real friends and the darkness that brings on a young soul. As a child, Mike wasn't just 'the fat kid' in the neighborhood, he was the target of ridicule to the point of being called 'Penguin' because he 'waddled'. He tried to use humor as a way to bridge the gap from bullying to being accepted but he could never shake the feeling that they were laughing at him and not with him. Having busy parents who both worked jobs meant they were a fast food family which didn't help Mike much at all. In middle school he thought he had a friend but catching said friend joining in on the bullying hurt more than a shot to the heart. Mike took solace in media, particularly anime and manga even from a young age, but it wasn't until that middle school betrayal that he used anime as a source for inspiration. As a source for good.

A lifelong fan of DragonBall Z, Mike saw the work that Goku put in and decided that if Goku could do it, so could he. It was hard work, everything worth doing is, but a change to his lifestyle meant by the time he was in ninth grade he was walking in a new man. Because of his experience as a kid, Mike made it a habit of reaching out to the kids in high school who sat alone at lunch and sat with them, rapped with them, added them on Facebook, all that stuff, made them feel welcome and accepted. Needless to say, Mike went from zero to hero, from friendless to friendly and never let anyone mock him or anyone else for having 'nerdy' interests. Mike managed to turn his work ethic into motivation for his main hobby: competitive fighting games, which is a community he's been part of for a good seven years or so. Camp was never his first idea, he'd just as soon spend his summers working part time to save up for EVO tickets, but his best friend, Nicky, convinced him and while Mike isn't sure how many more years he'll go, he can at least admit it's been an overall positive experience and he's made more than one genuine friend in his time.

► Extra information:

He plays center in hockey because it's the quarterback of the rink. Ironically he plays receiver in football and not quarterback. Despite his long affiliation with Red team, he's a known entity if people want to get a little green in their camp experience - just ask for Captain Smoker, and if someone knows the reference then he'll give a discount provided they can rap with him about it for a bit. He speaks two languages and is learning a third.

► How many years have you attended Second Horizons?

"I hadn't even heard of it until I was told I was spending the winter break there. I don't know who wants to go camping in the winter, but for me winter just means the days are shorter anyway. So I haven't attended before."

► What team color would you like? Do you think you'll get it?

"Is there really a difference? Jesus wouldn't like people to be separated like this. Doesn't it strike anyone as a bit off that you're dividing people up by pre-ascribed personality traits, if the brochure is to believed. It's like Harry Potter where if you were bad you went to the snake house and if you were a main character you got to be the lion house. As it says in first Corinthians: 'I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment'. I'll let God decide for me."

► Is this your choice to attend? If not, what can we do to accommodate you?

"No, it's not by choice but it wasn't Jesus' choice to be crucified but in so doing he forgave the world its sins so I will make the best of the situation. Is there religious services on Sundays? If not, I would like to request it for any campers who wish to attend. Non-denominational, I know there might be some of different faiths, I really think an hour of worship every week can only be beneficial."

► Any allergies, disabilities, or special circumstances we should be aware of?

"I am lactose intolerant which means I require a special milk. I personally like to use clarified butter when I can. No cheese, yogurt, custard...I'm certain you know what lactose intolerant means. It won't kill me if I have some but...well it won't be fun for me."

► Do you have experience with any winter sports? Would you like lessons?

"I've never seen snow outside of a movie. The only sport I have any knowledge in is driving a pickup on the backroads. Well, and sometimes there was basketball and dodgeball at church youth lock-ins. I don't know how I'd do with winter sports, but it might be fun to try something new."

► What are you looking forward to?

"Hopefully meeting some fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I've never been outside of my community so it'll be nice to broaden my horizons. You can take the girl out of Texas but you can't take Texas out of the girl."

► What are you not looking forward to?

"People calling me the 'Jesus Girl' or something and judging me because I am religious. I hope it won't happen but even at home there are those at school who treat me like a leper because of my faith."

► Tell us a little bit about yourself:

"Isn't this a bit unorthodox for a camp form? How can I describe myself? My favorite bible verse is Deuteronomy 31:6 'Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you' which I think is what helps me get through tough situations. I'm from Texas and I am an active member of my church. Or I was before my parents got divorced and I decided to spend the holidays with my...liberal aunt who decided that camp would be a better use of my winter break. I have faith and am religious but don't treat me like a zealot or like how the Romans treated Jesus. I'm aware people up north have...different values than me but that doesn't make them any less of God's children. Just because I have some conservative values, I still watch the same movies and listen to the same music as everyone else. I just don't really understand things like social media and think the only thing that should be ticking and tocking is a clock."

"I'm aware that people of our age when put together in an environment such as this will have the mind think of...lascivious things, and I don't want to be like Mrs. Carmody in The Mist or anything but I feel I should say that I am saving myself for marriage and no offense to my fellow campers but I doubt I will find Mister Harper Davenport here of all places. But then the Lord works in mysterious ways. I think it's important to state that while I am spiritual, it's not the entirety of my being. I love animals, I don't live on a farm but I work at a butcher shop and make my own jerky at home - which I even sell at the shop to rave reviews. I don't sit around reading the Bible all the time, just some verses in the morning and with evening prayer. Hell, I have even been known to cuss with the best of them. I respect the value of an honest day's work and I'm a giving person, but don't mistake generosity for being a doormat. I'm from Texas, we're tough whether man or woman. I look forward to meeting some new faces."

► Noteworthy appearance traits:

The only pair of boots she has a work boots and she was not at all prepared for needing new boots for snow. Tended to wear flannel jackets and denim which at least was able to transition to snow relatively well. Sometimes gets mistaken for being a Georgia girl because of her peach. That's code for butt. She's 5'6", which she feels is a perfectly good height.

► Noteworthy luggage items:

A rosary and bible. Some home made trail mix and rice Krispy squares for her cabin mates so a good first impression is made. Home made jerky, also meant to share with her cabin mates as well as for snacking. A brand new pair of snow boots.

► Likes/Dislikes:

✔ Horror movies. She doesn't like the ones that use blood splatter as a substitute for horror, though. It's not really scary watching something where everyone just gets shot. Gore isn't scary to someone who's been around a butcher shop.
✔ SXSW. One of the perks of being in Texas is it's easier to travel to it, once you get past how stupid big Texas is. While she doesn't go every year, she's been twice and one time was just because her favorite band, Wax Fang, was playing. Her dad, once a roadie for some dad rock band when they went on a southern tour, doesn't like the festival because music isn't what it used to be.

✖ People who leave after getting communion. There's still more service after, it's like leaving in the middle of the movie.
✖ Stoner comedy movies. She just doesn't get why someone like Seth Rogen got famous enough to be both a comedic front man and billed as someone that could be romantically involved with actresses like Charlize Theron. On that note, she also thinks James and Dave Franco should both shut up and go away.
✖ People who are constantly 'online'. Her phone is about ten years out dated and she's fine with that. By her words: no one is important enough to have a Twitter, not even Jesus.

► Brief history:

Harper is more than just the de facto 'Jesus Girl' though she's well aware that's how some of the less spiritual people in her life view her. Born in a small town deep in Texas, Harper learned at a fairly young age the value of an honest day's work and the value of giving just a few hours of your time in worship every week. At Sunday School as a little girl she was always one to go above and beyond with the little assignments, once doing an entire ten minute presentation on the Stations of the Cross that impressed the Sunday School teacher so much that she performed it in front of the church to praise and applause. It was because of that that Harper started being more active within the church community, volunteering for the Christmas nativity play, doing bake sales and fund raisers, and while she couldn't be an altar server due to her gender, she did join the choir.

Despite a rural and religious upbringing, it came as a great surprise to Harper when her parents got a divorce citing just 'differences' and no amount of Harper citing religious text could get them to change their mind. Harper lives with her dad but his job this year has taken him overseas to Europe and rather than take her along, he arranged for his sister, her aunt, to look after her. Harper's aunt owns an LGBT bookstore and writes for an LGBT themed magazine, both of which were a surprise to Harper. Despite Harper being willing to not discuss things, her aunt decided to send Harper to camp regardless out of a belief that Harper was going to come angry and staunchly opposed to her aunt's lifestyle.

At least her aunt got Harper a pair of snow boots. Merry Christmas.

"Do you know most camps cost upwards of $100 a week, and those are just the cheap ones. I assume from your brochure that you're not cheap so...no, I've never attended this place before. I can barely afford a library card and you think I've been here before? But then I guess it's appropriate that people of means find ways to not spend time with their loved ones."

► What team color would you like? Do you think you'll get it?

"Does it really matter? I thought it was the job of the staff to put kids in cabins and all that. I think if I was in the pink one I might actually become Jason's mom from Friday the 13th so I'm tempted to say that but I was also once tempted to eat Taco Bell so I'm not exactly of sound mind. I don't care enough to pick."

► Is this your choice to attend? If not, what can we do to accommodate you?

"Yes and no. It's...complicated and I doubt I'll come back - again, camp prices are stupidly high and kind of discriminatory but I'm sure that doesn't matter to teens that already have a black card or whatever - technically me being here is my Christmas gift and I've learned to appreciate what I have and what I'm given so while this wouldn't be my first choice, it was cheaper than a summer specialty camp so here I am. If you want to accommodate me you could, like, offer discounted rates or whatever. Fucking capitalism, though, right?"

"Yeah, I'm allergic to superficiality and self righteous, pretentiousness. Shouldn't be a problem, I mean, it's a camp full of teenagers, it's not like I'll have anything to worry about."

► Do you have experience with any winter sports? Would you like lessons?

"Is that what the fee covered? Winter sports lessons? You know I can go down to the Y and learn to play a sport for free as well as get a shower and a gym, right? Do you even know what a Y is? "If it hasn't been made painfully obvious, I'm more than a little outspoken about my beliefs and my life experiences but I have to be because otherwise my voice gets lost in the chaos and my voice is currently the only thing I have. I don't come from a life of means, I've never really been out of state let alone out of district but I don't want to be seen as a charity case - especially by those who only use charity as a tax write off for the taxes they don't pay anyway. Some people think I'm funny but humor is a good way to deflect criticism when it is pointed at you, the idiots call it satire because they don't understand what satire is. I guess I'll take the compliment of being funny, though. I prefer to think of myself as an outspoken, confident, husky voiced lesbian, the kind that gives the main character in a crappy Netflix movie her first sexual awakening before the main character realizes that no, actually, she's still into dicks because screenwriters are too cowardly. Look, I knew I was gay before I knew what gay was and I'm fortunate enough to have a supportive family, but I don't have the time to deal with tourists like that."

"I'm very family-oriented, I love my family and I would die for my family but no one at a winter camp is in my family so at most I'll be friendly with them unless they give me reason not to. ► Noteworthy appearance traits:

Her hair is a silvery blonde and she claims it's natural but the jury is out on that. Is rarely ever seen without her leather jacket that has clearly seen a lot of use; on that same token, all of her clothes are clearly either hand-me-downs or from Goodwill and she doesn't seem to own anything that isn't faded, fading, with holes, or clearly patched with other clothes as the patchwork. Still, she's almost six foot even which means she has nice legs which is noteworthy in its own way.

► Noteworthy luggage items:

The only thing of note, other than her wardrobe, is a flip phone (not a smart phone) and a guitar case containing her most precious item: a bass guitar. She has an acoustic but she left it at home because only a real asshole brings more than one guitar to a social function.

► Likes/Dislikes:

✔ The public library. Many a day has been spent in the library by Riley. She doesn't check books out all that much but she can spend hours reading there and get the same experience. She likes satirical novels and historical fiction and isn't really into young adult literature because it's all shades of the same thing and reading about two to three dudes resorting to caveman tactics to woo a girl is not her idea of compelling literature. Her two favorite books are 'The Master and Margarita' and 'Super Sad True Love Story'
✔ In-Shell salted peanuts. The best thing about grocery stores is that they often just have shelled peanuts out in the open and since they don't have a barcode she can totally just grab a couple handfuls, shove them in her pocket, and leave and then she doesn't have to go hungry for the night.
✖ Landlords. The only good landlord is a dead landlord as far as she's concerned.
✖ Gentrification.
✖ People who are too cowardly to talk about politics with other people.

► Brief history:

If there was a song that could sum up Riley's life it would be Common People by Pulp except she hardly fits the mold of 'common' as described by most, anyway. Riley comes from a poor family, and by poor it's legitimately 'they live in a homeless shelter' levels of poor. She is the oldest of five siblings and between a father who can barely hold minimum wage jobs and a mother who works two jobs just to have just enough to ensure everyone gets some food at the end of the day, there's not a lot of stuff to go around the Quinn family. Fortunately, at age eight Riley found an acoustic guitar in an alley one day; its strings were busted but a music shop was willing to fix it for her for free when she hit them with the waterworks. By age ten Riley was busking in the street by playing that same guitar. Often what she made busking was what she used to eat on any particular night. In junior high she got along well with a music teacher at school who was dealing with the school cutting extracurriculars because of funding. She taught her how to play the guitar with a bit more finesse and when Riley graduated, that same teacher gifted Riley a bass guitar. It wasn't new, it was the teacher's old one, but it was the best gift Riley had ever gotten.

Riley continued to busk through high school inbetween working minimum wage jobs with every bit of her paychecks going to her family. They managed to move into a very cramped small apartment when Riley was fourteen. The newest thing in their apartment is the clock radio. Unbeknownst to Riley, though, her parents and her siblings had been saving portions of their own money to surprise Riley for all her hard work in supporting them. Because Riley has had no time to maintain friendships with people her own age due to her working and busking, her family surprised her with an early Christmas gift: a trip to a winter camp where she could have fun for a change. Riley was uncertain if it was 'for her' but she's not going to refuse a gift from her family.

If nothing else, it might provide good song writing material for when her future music career takes off. It's all she has to hope for at this point. That or marrying some fabulously wealthy and sexy doctor who likes Riley's husky voice and down to earth vibes.

Stands at a rather short 5'2" but walks with the swagger and confidence of someone 6'0". Has been known to wear masculine and feminine clothes - enjoys pants as much as skirts, in other words. Sometimes wears makeup, often wears nail polish, always looks stylish.

A makeup kit and various tools for styling hair including hair dye and different scissors and irons. Cellphone never leaves their possession. A lot of bubblegum and lolipops because both of them show off how good they are with their mouth.

► Likes/Dislikes:

✔ Disney cartoons, but only when watching with Mickey. It's something of a ritual they have. A ritual consisting of Mickey really loving cartoons and Andi joining in for the duet songs but otherwise not really getting super invested in them. But it's fun and that's all that matters.
✔ Trashy reality television. It's literally must-see tv as far as Andi is concerned.

✖ Guys that are smaller/softer than him. Andi prefers a guy who can toss him around like a goddamn ragdoll. Not that he wont be friend with them, this is purely in the camp of sexual partners.

► Brief history:

Andi was in a weird place within his family because of that silly little thing called generational expectations. As the child of a family who is quite proud of their success as Chinese immigrants, Andi had a lot of pressure from a far too young age. His father inherited the family business, a fairly successful advertising and marketing firm that essentially sold bullshit 'Chinese herbal remedies' to dumb white families who couldn't tell the difference between China, Japan, and Korea if you asked them which one Tokyo was in. His mother, truly living up to her potential, worked at a fairly upscale clothing store. Andi, being the only son of the family, was expected to follow in the footsteps and go to school for business and be groomed for taking over the company. And then Andi's dad walked in on a twelve year old Andi kissing a boy from school. No rod was spared that night. What was excused as 'dumb playing' as a kid became a heated confrontation when a year and a half later Andi had the talk with his family and was again given a rather hurtful punishment in response. He was still expected to be 'normal' and follow the plan of his family. At age 14, when Andi showed no signs of being 'normal', in a fit of rage during a heated argument, Andi's father told him to get out of his house, only much harsher language was used.

Fortunately, Andi had a savior in the form of a friend named Michaela, aka Mickey, who immediately opened her doors to him. The two were already friends, but they became room mates and best friends damn near overnight. Andi had saved his allowance over the years and had the good sense to know the PIN for his dad's banking account and was able to make a withdrawal that Andi said was a "new life" fund. Since then, Andi has done part time work at a beauty salon near Mickey's home; he has every intention of one day opening his own salon because if there's one thing he's passionate about it's his love of hair and making people feel beautiful and confident because of it. He may never see his family again but as soon as he turns eighteen he's legally changing his name anyway so good riddance to them. Mickey is his family now.

One time at camp he rolled with the 'lock, this winter he's going with a fade and it's clean. Don't let the above average height fool you, he's the same height as Goku and almost as ripped as him. It's the only metric that matters, least he ain't Vegeta short.

A custom hockey stick that has Turtle Hermit colors. Some video games and controllers for if people want to have indoor activities - but no one touches his fightstick, that cost him more than the counselor job is paying. Some green goods that if anyone asks is for some tea for when it gets cold. It's not for tea, obviously, but it goes well in baked goods.

► Likes/Dislikes:

✔ Fighting games. That sense of community and the sense of true competition, it's unmatched. Some people will try to compare it against real sports but the difference is, real sports don't have hundreds, thousands of people all competing and whittling it down to the best in the world. His main game is DB FighterZ but he also plays a mean Tekken and Street Fighter and has placed highly in EVO every year he's entered since the second year.
✔ Chocolate Moon Pies. While not overly fond of sugary stuff anymore, a man can have his vices and what better vice is there than the chocolate and marshmallow confectionary concoction that he absolutely orders from Amazon. He keeps count and if anyone touches one without his permission, they're getting smacked harder than Yamcha.

✖ People that put disrespect on the Buu Arc just because they think it shoulda ended with Cell - those the same fools that think it shoulda ended with Freeza. Without the Buu arc there's no Majin Vegeta, there's no Vegito, hell there's no Videl and that's a sin on god.
✖ The kind of people who still put up posters of Scarface. They're always some scrawny wannabe dude or some bro who thinks because they know a black guy that they have a pass.
✖ Wi-Fi Kids. Get an ethernet cord before you try to come in and try your wack ass combos.

► Brief history:

Mike Carter knew the pain of not having any real friends and the darkness that brings on a young soul. As a child, Mike wasn't just 'the fat kid' in the neighborhood, he was the target of ridicule to the point of being called 'Penguin' because he 'waddled'. He tried to use humor as a way to bridge the gap from bullying to being accepted but he could never shake the feeling that they were laughing at him and not with him. Having busy parents who both worked jobs meant they were a fast food family which didn't help Mike much at all. In middle school he thought he had a friend but catching said friend joining in on the bullying hurt more than a shot to the heart. Mike took solace in media, particularly anime and manga even from a young age, but it wasn't until that middle school betrayal that he used anime as a source for inspiration. As a source for good.

A lifelong fan of DragonBall Z, Mike saw the work that Goku put in and decided that if Goku could do it, so could he. It was hard work, everything worth doing is, but a change to his lifestyle meant by the time he was in ninth grade he was walking in a new man. Because of his experience as a kid, Mike made it a habit of reaching out to the kids in high school who sat alone at lunch and sat with them, rapped with them, added them on Facebook, all that stuff, made them feel welcome and accepted. Needless to say, Mike went from zero to hero, from friendless to friendly and never let anyone mock him or anyone else for having 'nerdy' interests. Mike managed to turn his work ethic into motivation for his main hobby: competitive fighting games, which is a community he's been part of for a good seven years or so. Camp was never his first idea, he'd just as soon spend his summers working part time to save up for EVO tickets, but his best friend, Nicky, convinced him and while Mike isn't sure how many more years he'll go, he can at least admit it's been an overall positive experience and he's made more than one genuine friend in his time.

"I hadn't even heard of it until I was told I was spending the winter break there. I don't know who wants to go camping in the winter, but for me winter just means the days are shorter anyway. So I haven't attended before."

"Is there really a difference? Jesus wouldn't like people to be separated like this. Doesn't it strike anyone as a bit off that you're dividing people up by pre-ascribed personality traits, if the brochure is to believed. It's like Harry Potter where if you were bad you went to the snake house and if you were a main character you got to be the lion house. As it says in first Corinthians: 'I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment'. I'll let God decide for me."

► Is this your choice to attend? If not, what can we do to accommodate you?

"No, it's not by choice but it wasn't Jesus' choice to be crucified but in so doing he forgave the world its sins so I will make the best of the situation. Is there religious services on Sundays? If not, I would like to request it for any campers who wish to attend. Non-denominational, I know there might be some of different faiths, I really think an hour of worship every week can only be beneficial."

► Any allergies, disabilities, or special circumstances we should be aware of?

"I am lactose intolerant which means I require a special milk. I personally like to use clarified butter when I can. No cheese, yogurt, custard...I'm certain you know what lactose intolerant means. It won't kill me if I have some but...well it won't be fun for me."

► Do you have experience with any winter sports? Would you like lessons?

"I've never seen snow outside of a movie. The only sport I have any knowledge in is driving a pickup on the backroads. Well, and sometimes there was basketball and dodgeball at church youth lock-ins. I don't know how I'd do with winter sports, but it might be fun to try something new."

► What are you looking forward to?

"Hopefully meeting some fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I've never been outside of my community so it'll be nice to broaden my horizons. You can take the girl out of Texas but you can't take Texas out of the girl."

"People calling me the 'Jesus Girl' or something and judging me because I am religious. I hope it won't happen but even at home there are those at school who treat me like a leper because of my faith."

"Isn't this a bit unorthodox for a camp form? How can I describe myself? My favorite bible verse is Deuteronomy 31:6 'Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you' which I think is what helps me get through tough situations. I'm from Texas and I am an active member of my church. Or I was before my parents got divorced and I decided to spend the holidays with my...liberal aunt who decided that camp would be a better use of my winter break. I have faith and am religious but don't treat me like a zealot or like how the Romans treated Jesus. I'm aware people up north have...different values than me but that doesn't make them any less of God's children. Just because I have some conservative values, I still watch the same movies and listen to the same music as everyone else. I just don't really understand things like social media and think the only thing that should be ticking and tocking is a clock."

► Noteworthy appearance traits:

The only pair of boots she has a work boots and she was not at all prepared for needing new boots for snow. Tended to wear flannel jackets and denim which at least was able to transition to snow relatively well. Sometimes gets mistaken for being a Georgia girl because of her peach. That's code for butt. She's 5'6", which she feels is a perfectly good height.

► Noteworthy luggage items:

A rosary and bible. Some home made trail mix and rice Krispy squares for her cabin mates so a good first impression is made. Home made jerky, also meant to share with her cabin mates as well as for snacking. A brand new pair of snow boots.

► Likes/Dislikes:

✔ Horror movies. She doesn't like the ones that use blood splatter as a substitute for horror, though. It's not really scary watching something where everyone just gets shot. Gore isn't scary to someone who's been around a butcher shop.
✔ SXSW. One of the perks of being in Texas is it's easier to travel to it, once you get past how stupid big Texas is. While she doesn't go every year, she's been twice and one time was just because her favorite band, Wax Fang, was playing. Her dad, once a roadie for some dad rock band when they went on a southern tour, doesn't like the festival because music isn't what it used to be.

✖ People who leave after getting communion. There's still more service after, it's like leaving in the middle of the movie.
✖ Stoner comedy movies. She just doesn't get why someone like Seth Rogen got famous enough to be both a comedic front man and billed as someone that could be romantically involved with actresses like Charlize Theron. On that note, she also thinks James and Dave Franco should both shut up and go away.
✖ People who are constantly 'online'. Her phone is about ten years out dated and she's fine with that. By her words: no one is important enough to have a Twitter, not even Jesus.

► Brief history:

Harper is more than just the de facto 'Jesus Girl' though she's well aware that's how some of the less spiritual people in her life view her. Born in a small town deep in Texas, Harper learned at a fairly young age the value of an honest day's work and the value of giving just a few hours of your time in worship every week. At Sunday School as a little girl she was always one to go above and beyond with the little assignments, once doing an entire ten minute presentation on the Stations of the Cross that impressed the Sunday School teacher so much that she performed it in front of the church to praise and applause. It was because of that that Harper started being more active within the church community, volunteering for the Christmas nativity play, doing bake sales and fund raisers, and while she couldn't be an altar server due to her gender, she did join the choir.

Despite a rural and religious upbringing, it came as a great surprise to Harper when her parents got a divorce citing just 'differences' and no amount of Harper citing religious text could get them to change their mind. Harper lives with her dad but his job this year has taken him overseas to Europe and rather than take her along, he arranged for his sister, her aunt, to look after her. Harper's aunt owns an LGBT bookstore and writes for an LGBT themed magazine, both of which were a surprise to Harper. Despite Harper being willing to not discuss things, her aunt decided to send Harper to camp regardless out of a belief that Harper was going to come angry and staunchly opposed to her aunt's lifestyle.

At least her aunt got Harper a pair of snow boots. Merry Christmas.

► How many years have you attended Second Horizons?

"Do you know most camps cost upwards of $100 a week, and those are just the cheap ones. I assume from your brochure that you're not cheap so...no, I've never attended this place before. I can barely afford a library card and you think I've been here before? But then I guess it's appropriate that people of means find ways to not spend time with their loved ones."

► What team color would you like? Do you think you'll get it?

"Does it really matter? I thought it was the job of the staff to put kids in cabins and all that. I think if I was in the pink one I might actually become Jason's mom from Friday the 13th so I'm tempted to say that but I was also once tempted to eat Taco Bell so I'm not exactly of sound mind. I don't care enough to pick."

► Is this your choice to attend? If not, what can we do to accommodate you?

"Yes and no. It's...complicated and I doubt I'll come back - again, camp prices are stupidly high and kind of discriminatory but I'm sure that doesn't matter to teens that already have a black card or whatever - technically me being here is my Christmas gift and I've learned to appreciate what I have and what I'm given so while this wouldn't be my first choice, it was cheaper than a summer specialty camp so here I am. If you want to accommodate me you could, like, offer discounted rates or whatever. Fucking capitalism, though, right?"

► Any allergies, disabilities, or special circumstances we should be aware of?

"Yeah, I'm allergic to superficiality and self righteous, pretentiousness. Shouldn't be a problem, I mean, it's a camp full of teenagers, it's not like I'll have anything to worry about."

► Do you have experience with any winter sports? Would you like lessons?

"Is that what the fee covered? Winter sports lessons? You know I can go down to the Y and learn to play a sport for free as well as get a shower and a gym, right? Do you even know what a Y is? Well it's also over priced but if you act like you belong you can get away with it. Is there ice fishing? I'll go ice fishing, which is at least more practical and useful than...skiing or whatever."

► What are you looking forward to?

"The eventual death of people born in the 1940s but still being in charge of deciding political policy for the country because at least then we might finally be able to not look down on the lower class like subhuman scum because capitalism is a fucking plague. And maybe there will be a cute girl there, fuck if I know."

► What are you not looking forward to?

"The likelihood that at least one of the people at this camp is going to be the type of person to unironically say 'sad face' in conversaton or, like, 'hashtag get a life' or something that I assumed existed only in the lowest common denominator entertainment."

► Tell us a little bit about yourself:

"If it hasn't been made painfully obvious, I'm more than a little outspoken about my beliefs and my life experiences but I have to be because otherwise my voice gets lost in the chaos and my voice is currently the only thing I have. I don't come from a life of means, I've never really been out of state let alone out of district but I don't want to be seen as a charity case - especially by those who only use charity as a tax write off for the taxes they don't pay anyway. Some people think I'm funny but humor is a good way to deflect criticism when it is pointed at you, the idiots call it satire because they don't understand what satire is. I guess I'll take the compliment of being funny, though. I prefer to think of myself as an outspoken, confident, husky voiced lesbian, the kind that gives the main character in a crappy Netflix movie her first sexual awakening before the main character realizes that no, actually, she's still into dicks because screenwriters are too cowardly. Look, I knew I was gay before I knew what gay was and I'm fortunate enough to have a supportive family, but I don't have the time to deal with tourists like that."

"I'm very family-oriented, I love my family and I would die for my family but no one at a winter camp is in my family so at most I'll be friendly with them unless they give me reason not to. Asking someone to describe themselves is like asking a politician to be upfront and honest. No one is honest enough at our age to realize our flaws and if they are, they're lying."

► Noteworthy appearance traits:

Her hair is a silvery blonde and she claims it's natural but the jury is out on that. Is rarely ever seen without her leather jacket that has clearly seen a lot of use; on that same token, all of her clothes are clearly either hand-me-downs or from Goodwill and she doesn't seem to own anything that isn't faded, fading, with holes, or clearly patched with other clothes as the patchwork. Still, she's almost six foot even which means she has nice legs which is noteworthy in its own way.

► Noteworthy luggage items:

The only thing of note, other than her wardrobe, is a flip phone (not a smart phone) and a guitar case containing her most precious item: a bass guitar. She has an acoustic but she left it at home because only a real asshole brings more than one guitar to a social function.

► Likes/Dislikes:

✔ The public library. Many a day has been spent in the library by Riley. She doesn't check books out all that much but she can spend hours reading there and get the same experience. She likes satirical novels and historical fiction and isn't really into young adult literature because it's all shades of the same thing and reading about two to three dudes resorting to caveman tactics to woo a girl is not her idea of compelling literature. Her two favorite books are 'The Master and Margarita' and 'Super Sad True Love Story'
✔ In-Shell salted peanuts. The best thing about grocery stores is that they often just have shelled peanuts out in the open and since they don't have a barcode she can totally just grab a couple handfuls, shove them in her pocket, and leave and then she doesn't have to go hungry for the night.
✖ Landlords. The only good landlord is a dead landlord as far as she's concerned.
✖ Gentrification.
✖ People who are too cowardly to talk about politics with other people.

► Brief history:

If there was a song that could sum up Riley's life it would be Common People by Pulp except she hardly fits the mold of 'common' as described by most, anyway. Riley comes from a poor family, and by poor it's legitimately 'they live in a homeless shelter' levels of poor. She is the oldest of five siblings and between a father who can barely hold minimum wage jobs and a mother who works two jobs just to have just enough to ensure everyone gets some food at the end of the day, there's not a lot of stuff to go around the Quinn family. Fortunately, at age eight Riley found an acoustic guitar in an alley one day; its strings were busted but a music shop was willing to fix it for her for free when she hit them with the waterworks. By age ten Riley was busking in the street by playing that same guitar. Often what she made busking was what she used to eat on any particular night. In junior high she got along well with a music teacher at school who was dealing with the school cutting extracurriculars because of funding. She taught her how to play the guitar with a bit more finesse and when Riley graduated, that same teacher gifted Riley a bass guitar. It wasn't new, it was the teacher's old one, but it was the best gift Riley had ever gotten.

Riley continued to busk through high school inbetween working minimum wage jobs with every bit of her paychecks going to her family. They managed to move into a very cramped small apartment when Riley was fourteen. The newest thing in their apartment is the clock radio. Unbeknownst to Riley, though, her parents and her siblings had been saving portions of their own money to surprise Riley for all her hard work in supporting them. Because Riley has had no time to maintain friendships with people her own age due to her working and busking, her family surprised her with an early Christmas gift: a trip to a winter camp where she could have fun for a change. Riley was uncertain if it was 'for her' but she's not going to refuse a gift from her family.

If nothing else, it might provide good song writing material for when her future music career takes off. It's all she has to hope for at this point. That or marrying some fabulously wealthy and sexy doctor who likes Riley's husky voice and down to earth vibes.
