First noticeable thing about Caelea is that she's short. There are people that are shorter, sure, but not very many. She pretends not to care about this - and honestly she doesn't, unless someone makes a comment about it. Then she'll make a big deal about it. But that'd happen if someone made fun of her for anything else. It's obvious by her body that's she's quite fit, with well toned arms and legs. She's slim with little extra weight - she exercises too often and eats too little for that.

Aside from the fact that she's short, adding to Caelea being easily identified is the fact that she's albino. This means that everything about her it very pale. It gives her a certain ethereality to her appearance which is only added to by the fact that she's pretty aloof. Her hair is such a light blonde that it's looks practically white. While most would be happy to have a hair colour others would have to dye to achieve it annoys Caelea to no end. She's not exactly going to blend in with it is she? Still she keeps it long enough so that it falls below her shoulders. It's quite feather like and messy, often tied back to prevent it from falling in front of her face.

Caelea’s skin is, unsurprisingly, very pale. To the point where the smallest bit of sun could burn her. It’s a pain, really. Her face is quite round and lacking in any sharp edges – quite long in shape. Her nose and lips are well proportioned to it. She has eyes that are technically very pale blue. However in certain lights they look more purple then anything, and sometimes even have a reddish tint. She likes to stick with describing them as blue. It’s more normal.

Along with being slim and fit Caelea has decent curves for her size. Nothing too large (or annoying) but enough to make her body quite attractive. She generally lacks in scars – her hands and feet are tough and callused from gymnastics, but she doesn’t have anything else noticeable. They’re pretty obvious to in her more normal attire – she has a preference for shorts and tank tops over anything else, sometimes with a jacket on the top. She’ll swap to jeans or leggings if it’s really cold. Most of her clothes are quite plain coloured in varying shades of blue or any other colours she thinks don’t make her look washed out. Most of her clothing is quite sporty. She doesn’t have any tattoos, but she does have a right nose piercing.

PSYCHOLOGY

"Most people just annoy me, that’s why I’m not nice to them."

MAIN GOAL ⫻ Caelea’s goal is to, first of all, to leave Farmer Hill. As soon as she can she’s getting out. Along with this she wants to compete as a gymnast or work as an acrobat – but she knows she has limited time before she’s too old for that.

PHILOSOPHY ⫻ Caelea believes that if you want something you have to work for it yourself, without depending on others. She’s also of the belief that there’s not enough time in life to put up with bullshit and that you should just cut off anyone you don’t want in your life. She thinks it’s okay to be harsh if it benefits you.

SECRETS ⫻ Caelea’s biggest secret is probably the fact that as much as she claims to not put up with anyone’s shit that she can’t cut herself off from her parents. Is because of them that she’s going to the Academy and doing a degree she hates. She doesn’t really want anyone to find out how bad her relationship with them is.

DESIRES ⫻ Caelea wants to be free, in a way, to do as she chooses. She wants to do what she wants with her life without it being dictated by others.

SEXUALITY ⫻ Bisexual. Though Caelea has only ever really dated one guy before and it didn't last particularly long, she just knows she'd date either.

FEARS ⫻ Caelea fears being injured. The last thing she’d want would be to be unable to move or do what she actually enjoys. She also fears failure and disappointing his family.

REPUTATION ⫻ Caelea doesn’t have a particularly good reputation. Her reputation in Farmer Hill is of someone who thinks she is above everyone else (like her parents) while being way too quick to anger. At Grand Ridge, where she is around people more, she’s got the reputation of being stand offish and, again, quick to anger with incredibly changeable moods. Generally people don’t want to spend time with her.

PET PEEVES ⫻ People who don’t work hard and get results anyway. Also people who insist on talking to her even if she clearly doesn’t want to talk to them.

QUIRKS ⫻ Caelea has a habit of randomly stretching a lot, sometimes just raising her leg so that its behind her head or touching her toes. It’s not too show off but more subconscious. She also quite often stands on one leg rather than most.

BACKSTORY

"My parents were just pressuring, it’s hardly a scarring past."

Caelea was born in Farmer Hill and has never lived anywhere else. Her parents both moved to America when they were younger, after just marrying. So she’s technically Scottish and Irish even if she’s never visited the countries. Caelea was their second child, born ten years after her older brother. A mistake, you could say.

Her childhood was pretty normal, though. Her father was a banker and her mother an accountant – both well enough of that they were comfortable. With this came a certain stuck up opinion. The last thing they wanted was for their children to become farmers. That was below them. Because of her families nature Caelea didn’t have many friends in school. As she grew older the number decreased. Her parents pushed her hard to follow after them and be academically – to be like her brother who aced all his exams and easily got into Grand Ridge Academy to study mathematics. This was the last thing Caelea wanted. She was much more into sports and physical activities. Her parents said some pretty harsh things when she asked to join just a normal sports team.

So she learned simple gymnastics herself and worked on her flexibility through videos online all while going to school. When her brother graduated and got a good job in Farmer Hill she confided in him – he wasn’t as bad as her parents. Grudgingly her brother agreed to take her to gymnastics classes out of town, claiming that he was spending time with his sister once a week. Caelea excelled and enjoyed herself for once.

Then the end of high school came and with it the prospect of College. It was the last thing Caelea wanted to do but she wasn’t exactly given a choice. So, she got a place doing accounting at Grand Ridge because her parents made her and because she can’t say no to them. After all, the last thing she wants to be is a disappointment.

SKILLS & TALENTS

Gymnastics / Acrobatics & Flexibility ⫻ Caelea's main skills comes with her flexibility, trained over the years, and the gymnastics that she's learned. This helps with balance and looking cool for no reason by doing back flips or walking on her hands.

Quick Footed ⫻ Not the most useful talent, but Caelea is quite a fast runner (though doesn't have the most stamina) and can move about quite easily.

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION ⫻ In actuality Caelea’s ability isn’t quite full blown Air Manipulation. She can control air but only in a more limited way – she can essentially create blasts of air out of her hands or feet. These have a range of maybe up to a foot. She can control just how powerful the air is, from a light breeze to a very strong gust. It’s obviously only useful in close range but allows her to do things such as propelling herself into the air or softening a landing. It can also blow stuff away and if she used it at its strongest on someone it would be quite damaging.

IN THE PRESENCE OF THE MOUNTAIN ⫻ In the presence of the mountain Caelea’s power becomes more full blown out air manipulation, so its controlling air in the more traditional sense. She no longer has to strictly shoot air out of her hands or feet and the distance is much greater, probably about ten times the amount.

AURA SENSING ⫻ Caelea can sense the auras of people who are not touching the ground in what is about a thirty meter radius. This includes those who are high up in buildings – technically touching something but not the “ground” itself.

Marijn, or Rien (pronounce Reen) as they generally go by, is pretty average in a lot of ways. They stand at a fairly average height with a fairly average weight and blue. They’ve got a very androgynous look to them; slight curves, but nothing special. It’s something easily fixed by a binder if they want to. Most of the time they don’t bother – people struggle to figure out what their gender is by appearance anyway (which is what they aim for). They’re pretty unnoticeable, honestly, which is added to by the lazy smile that’s almost permanently stuck to their lips.

In a contrast to their rest of their appearance Rien’s hair is the kind of thing that stands out. Dyed bright blue (like in your face bright), it’s obviously not their natural colour. Naturally their hair is properly blonde – which only makes it all the easier to dye. It’s rare that Rien’s lets their hair become its natural colour. They don’t really have much reason for this outside of liking how it looks. It’s incredibly curly natural and they just let it stay like that. They keep it relatively short with the fringe cut so it just doesn’t fall in front of their eyes.

Their eyes are also blue and quite a vivid shade, but not unnaturally so like the air. Their skin is fair verging on far too white. They just can’t seem to get a tan no matter how hard they try though they do have a sprinkling of freckles across their face. Rien has a fairly slim face, with a smooth jawline. Their nose sits evenly between their eyes, a bit on the large side (in their opinion).

As said previously, their body is pretty flat. It’s not particularly feminine or masculine – rather somewhere in between. This is added to by the baggy shirts they wear, topped off with jeans and denim jackets. Their not super fashionable but they do put in some effort. They’re almost always found wearing some kind of hat – probably a black beanie. Rien also has a fair few tattoos. One of the more predominant ones is a circuit board design going down the majority of their left arm. They’ve also got one on their chest (roughly above their heart) of a treble clef, with the name Katja Driessen written through it and ‘I still hear your music’ written below it in Dutch. Apart from tattoos their skin is relatively unmarked by scars.

PSYCHOLOGY

"I like to think that I’m pretty normal. But honestly, I couldn’t care less."

MAIN GOAL ⫻ Rien’s goal is to get to a point where they live a comfortable life, probably working in computing or something. But honestly they don’t really have a solid goal in life.

PHILOSOPHY ⫻ Rien’s outlook on life is to live it without caring for what other people think, without putting too much effort into it. They think it’s better to just not give a fuck rather than make a big deal out of anything. They also think that getting too close to people will just get your hurt and it’s better just to look out for yourself.

Marijn grew up in the Netherlands, predominantly in the citty of Utrecht. They were born to a single mother and with a slightly younger twin sister, Katja. Their mother passed away when they were both quite young, too young to be properly affected by it, from illness – she had always been poorly. The two were put into foster care and jumped between families. They always managed to stick together and as a result had a close bond.

At ten Rien and their sister were adopted by a relatively young couple who could not have children of their own. The two flourished under proper parents, with Katja especially growing attached. They were both very artistic and would often sketch or paint together. Rien even took up an instrument so their sister wouldn’t be alone in learning the violin – though they much preferred sketching.

Growing older Katja got more and more sickly, before getting diagnosed with a degenerative disease and given only a few years to live. This, unsurprisingly, hit Rien hard. They really counted Katja as their only friend or family – so what would they do when they lost her.

It was at the age of fifteen, just a few weeks after their birthday, that Katja passed away. Rien tried to continue living normally – that’s what their sister would have wanted after all. But it was difficult to draw without her there and to pretend to care about anything anymore. So they just didn’t, deciding that growing attached would only get them hurt. They stopped doing traditional art in favour of digital, because it wasn’t quite as painful, and discovered their skill at computer science – throwing themselves into it.

Their adopted parents decided it would be best to start fresh in the hope that it would help. They entirely upped and moved country, all the way to USA and Farmer Hill. It was easier for Rien there, to pretend things hadn’t happened and to just live their life. They worked hard, though, to get accepted into Grand Ridge Academy as they graduated – and got a place to attend studying Computing Science.

SKILLS & TALENTS

"I’m good at the two things I put effort into, unsurprisingly."

Computing Science ⫻ Rien is good with computers, but especially specialising in software – they can program in a few different language quite well. They do video game programming a lot but also for more practical things, making some money off designing websites for other people. They can also do a bit of low level (assembly) code.

Digital Art ⫻ Though also very good at traditional art, Rien especially specialises in digital art using their tablet and a computer. This goes pretty well with the small video games they make themselves.

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION ⫻ Animation is maybe not the best way to describe it, because Rien cannot really create living things (normally). If Rien draws some kind of object and focuses on it they can essentially make it come out of the picture / create it. It’s created exactly as it was drawn (so black and white comes out black and white). It’s also the size that is was drawn on that paper, so if Rien draws a tiny mug they’ll get one just like it. Unsurprisingly the abstraction manifested from their love (or former love) of art.

IN THE PRESENCE OF THE MOUNTAIN ⫻ In the presence of the mountain the first thing enhanced is the size of the things Rien can make. They’re not limited to the size of the paper, but can rather make things bigger than how they were drawn. They can also actually draw and bring into the world living beings (as long as they actually exist) – so they could draw a plant and bring it to life, or a cat.

AURA SENSING ⫻ Connected to their generally uncaring personality, Rien cause sense the auras of anyone who is overly stressed or tense in a twenty foot or so radius.

LIMITS ⫻ In other for Rien to manifest an object out of art, they physically have to reach into the painting and pull it out, all while focusing on it. Almost like they were pulling something from another world. Which can make pulling an object out on the fly difficult, as they can't just rip it out. Or they'll damage the painting. The only way they can manifest from a distance is in the presence of the mountain (around eight meters). Once manifested, the object has all the properties of it's real life counterpart (A sword would be hard and sharp, water would flow around and be wet,). So by all means, it's "real." Which means it can be destroyed by any other means, and it may not be that useful to manifest. Though, Rien has to draw the object at least somewhat realistically - or it'll crumble to pieces upon being manifested.

WEAKNESSES ⫻ Manifesting art drains the "color" out of Rien. In a literal and metaphorical sense. They'll literally start to lose the color out of their body and clothes until they are black and white. On the other sense, they'll gradually begin to lose their emotions, and ability to feel anything pleasurable. In the most extreme cases, they'll be a hollow, emotionless, husk, that cannot taste, smell, or feel anything good. In addition, water is the primary counter to their manifestations. If exposed to water, they'll gradually lose shape and then fall apart. Getting submerged would completely destroy them.

Marijn, or Rien (pronounce Reen) as they generally go by, is pretty average in a lot of ways. They stand at a fairly average height with a fairly average weight and blue. They’ve got a very androgynous look to them; slight curves, but nothing special. It’s something easily fixed by a binder if they want to. Most of the time they don’t bother – people struggle to figure out what their gender is by appearance anyway (which is what they aim for). They’re pretty unnoticeable, honestly, which is added to by the lazy smile that’s almost permanently stuck to their lips.

In a contrast to their rest of their appearance Rien’s hair is the kind of thing that stands out. Dyed bright blue (like in your face bright), it’s obviously not their natural colour. Naturally their hair is properly blonde – which only makes it all the easier to dye. It’s rare that Rien’s lets their hair become its natural colour. They don’t really have much reason for this outside of liking how it looks. It’s incredibly curly natural and they just let it stay like that. They keep it relatively short with the fringe cut so it just doesn’t fall in front of their eyes.

Their eyes are also blue and quite a vivid shade, but not unnaturally so like the air. Their skin is fair verging on far too white. They just can’t seem to get a tan no matter how hard they try though they do have a sprinkling of freckles across their face. Rien has a fairly slim face, with a smooth jawline. Their nose sits evenly between their eyes, a bit on the large side (in their opinion).

As said previously, their body is pretty flat. It’s not particularly feminine or masculine – rather somewhere in between. This is added to by the baggy shirts they wear, topped off with jeans and denim jackets. Their not super fashionable but they do put in some effort. They’re almost always found wearing some kind of hat – probably a black beanie. Rien also has a fair few tattoos. One of the more predominant ones is a circuit board design going down the majority of their left arm. They’ve also got one on their chest (roughly above their heart) of a treble clef, with the name Katja Driessen written through it and ‘I still hear your music’ written below it in Dutch. Apart from tattoos their skin is relatively unmarked by scars.

PSYCHOLOGY

"I like to think that I’m pretty normal. But honestly, I couldn’t care less."

MAIN GOAL ⫻ Rien’s goal is to get to a point where they live a comfortable life, probably working in computing or something. But honestly they don’t really have a solid goal in life.

PHILOSOPHY ⫻ Rien’s outlook on life is to live it without caring for what other people think, without putting too much effort into it. They think it’s better to just not give a fuck rather than make a big deal out of anything. They also think that getting too close to people will just get your hurt and it’s better just to look out for yourself.

SECRETS ⫻ With a very not caring attitude Rien has few secrets. Their biggest one is something pretty minor to other people, but probably the fact that they actually try very hard at and enjoy their subject – computing. They don’t want other people knowing they actually put effort into anything. They also don’t like talking about their family, but they don’t make much of an effort to hide it.

DESIRES ⫻ Rien just wants to live life as carefree as possible, enjoying their time. Whether that is playing video games at home or getting drunk at parties it doesn’t matter as long as they have a good time.

SEXUALITY ⫻ Pansexual. Rien doesn’t particularly care about gender when it comes to dating.

FEARS ⫻ Rien fears losing anyone that they get close to, so they just don’t get close to anyone. They also fear disappointing their twin sister and the wishes she had for them.

REPUTATION ⫻ Though they’ve only been in town for a couple of years Rien’s reputation is pretty much of someone who is lazy, carefree and occasionally makes trouble. They’re not particularly looked upon fondly by those of the older generation (what with being so open about their gender and sexuality) but have a decent reputation at the academy.

PET PEEVES ⫻ People who butt into other people’s business or are too full of themselves and thus try to push their opinions onto other people.

QUIRKS ⫻ Rien shrugs a lot, especially in the middle of conversations even where there is no need to.

BACKSTORY

"I try not to think about my past, honestly. Why should it matter to anyone else?"

Marijn grew up in the Netherlands, predominantly in the citty of Utrecht. They were born to a single mother and with a slightly younger twin sister, Katja. Their mother passed away when they were both quite young, too young to be properly affected by it, from illness – she had always been poorly. The two were put into foster care and jumped between families. They always managed to stick together and as a result had a close bond.

At ten Rien and their sister were adopted by a relatively young couple who could not have children of their own. The two flourished under proper parents, with Katja especially growing attached. They were both very artistic and would often sketch or paint together. Rien even took up an instrument so their sister wouldn’t be alone in learning the violin – though they much preferred sketching.

Growing older Katja got more and more sickly, before getting diagnosed with a degenerative disease and given only a few years to live. This, unsurprisingly, hit Rien hard. They really counted Katja as their only friend or family – so what would they do when they lost her.

It was at the age of fifteen, just a few weeks after their birthday, that Katja passed away. Rien tried to continue living normally – that’s what their sister would have wanted after all. But it was difficult to draw without her there and to pretend to care about anything anymore. So they just didn’t, deciding that growing attached would only get them hurt. They stopped doing traditional art in favour of digital, because it wasn’t quite as painful, and discovered their skill at computer science – throwing themselves into it.

Their adopted parents decided it would be best to start fresh in the hope that it would help. They entirely upped and moved country, all the way to USA and Farmer Hill. It was easier for Rien there, to pretend things hadn’t happened and to just live their life. They worked hard, though, to get accepted into Grand Ridge Academy as they graduated – and got a place to attend studying Computing Science.

SKILLS & TALENTS

"I’m good at the two things I put effort into, unsurprisingly."

Computing Science ⫻ Rien is good with computers, but especially specialising in software – they can program in a few different language quite well. They do video game programming a lot but also for more practical things, making some money off designing websites for other people. They can also do a bit of low level (assembly) code.

Digital Art ⫻ Though also very good at traditional art, Rien especially specialises in digital art using their tablet and a computer. This goes pretty well with the small video games they make themselves.

ABSTRACTION ⫻ Life Art, the ability to create things from drawings.

ABSTRACTION DESCRIPTION ⫻ Life art is maybe not the best way to describe it, because Rien cannot really create living things (normally). If Rien draws some kind of object and focuses on it they can essentially make it come out of the picture / create it. It’s created exactly as it was drawn (so black and white comes out black and white). It’s also the size that is was drawn on that paper, so if Rien draws a tiny mug they’ll get one just like it. Unsurprisingly the abstraction manifested from their love (or former love) of art.

IN THE PRESENCE OF THE MOUNTAIN ⫻ In the presence of the mountain the first thing enhanced is the size of the things Rien can make. They’re not limited to the size of the paper, but can rather make things bigger than how they were drawn. They can also actually draw and bring into the world living beings (as long as they actually exist) – so they could draw a plant and bring it to life, or a cat.

AURA SENSING ⫻ Connected to their generally uncaring personality, Rien cause sense the auras of anyone who is overly stressed or tense in a twenty foot or so radius.
