Okay so this is my pitch, for a long time, I've had a Original Trading Card Game Concept (with nearly 100 cards) But didn't really have the setting to put it in. So I've decided on a Persona-Style supernatural slice of life High School Academy where you as a student uncovers a Conduit Stone and gains the ability to summon Lost Empires Cards to reality and do battle. There will be overreaching plot about how an advertising company is looking to exploit the conduit stones for monetary gain, and in turn, put the world in danger by unleashing ancient magic. Your 'Conduit Stone' will unleash your 'BattleMage Profile' which is basically your 'Card Battle Persona Spirit' it is the ancient battlemage you will transform into to compete in card battles (more info below).

The RP will be split between slice of life 'downtime' and plot driven 'story time' and you will have your own personalized Deck of cards and will be able to earn booster-packs and build your deck as the RP goes on, and initiate battles whenever you wish.

So what do you think? Ready to be a teen card battler?

If you want to know more about the Trading Card Game here is a VERY LONG description of the origin, rules and a few starter deck examples.

This game will require dedication and consistent attention to not only your cards, but the battles and the lore, please do not join unless you are willing to fully throw yourself into it!

Starter Decks

Canis Canem Edit is a wolf based deck that is balanced and perfect for beginners, but does lack the raw magical firepower of other sets, instead focusing more of natural canine based ferocity.

Drowned Gallows is a Pirate Based deck that utilizes more indirect and crafty abilities such as stealing and misdirection. But still has a couple of powerful weapons such as the flintlock and the flail.

Desert Emprie is desert themed deck that mainly deals in magical offense, but with a few clever effect cards thrown in too. Very straightforward and easy to use.

Pride and steel is a deck that is completely based around weapons and armor and making them stronger, although very direct and powerful, will need good tactics to combat more supernatural opponents.

Hell On Earth is a powerful but chaotic deck that uses the power of the hellish underword to terrify and overwhelm enemies. A strong but difficult deck to use.

Rigor Mortis is a complex but unique deck which draws upon the power of the dead. A lot of diverse and effective magic is used, but lacks brute power. Recommended for more cerebral players.

Cold Blood is a raw and powerful deck that combines the tribal fury of the reptile family. Hard Scales and Strong Steel, but not much else in the way of tricks.

Natural Order is a deck of health, life and constitution. Is the anti-thesis to decay and uses the power of the natural world to grow strength. A somewhat more passive and defensive oriented deck for intermediates.

Bloodlines is an deck that is the entry into the world of the romantic evil of the vampires. Draining life to sustain their own and using dark magic and undead fury to achieve their dark goals. Good for beginners and intermediate players.

But if you're solid on making a zombie deck, then I am solid to join.

I'll put a deck together today then, should be ready after the OOC is done.

I didn't mean it in a rude way. Just making a conversation. As I tend to go for heavier characters or characters with a lot of weight to them. And the Persona inspired I was hoping for that. Not the silly oh "the heart of the cards" and more like inner torment and dark dwelling thoughts meets card game. Which is cool.

And I do have several Persona based and Persona RPs. I actually considered bringing one from another website to here.

Well I'd probably advise against that, as you've pointed out, this isnt a persona RP, and trying to fit a character so deeply tied to that narrative in a completely original world might not provide the desired results. Its probably just best to wait until the OOC so you have a better Idea of the tone and direction of the RP, before any solid character concepts.
<Snipped quote by Dynamo Frokane>

-A zombie deck would be nice, it's what I'd like to play if you could make me one I'd adore you

-You missed the fundamental key component in a Persona game though. The demons are representations of their inner demons. I mean in Persona 3 to access their personas they must shoot themselves. Nothing gets more inner demon than shooting yourself in the head. I have played all the SMT games, Persona 1 up to 5. And all the Shin Megami Tensei Games. I came here because I thought that would be the fundamental understanding of the SMT Persona series is that the demons were representations of each of the other characters inner struggles.

Persona has always had a great highlight of featuring the insecurities of the people you are playing. Where as the SMT series in itself has always been about deep seeded philosophical issues and moral, even ethical quandaries.

I'm still interested. Just seems less Persona. And more Not Yugioh Yugioh. Which is fine I like Yugioh. I love Yugioh in fact. When DN was still a thing I played massive amounts of Yugioh.

Indeed you are right, hence why I labelled it Persona and Yu-Gi-Oh Inspired and not 'Persona x Yu-gi-oh Universe' mainly to control expectations. But if you have a Persona RP coming up I'd love to play it. But until then, this is the game we are going with, the similarities are justified enough to give people a rough idea of what sort of world this is in. So to refute your earlier point I haven't missed anything.
Did you get the planetary elements from Golden Sun by any chance?

Either way, this looks decently fun. I'd like to voice interest in the 'Hell on Earth' deck, if you'll have me once you get your OOC up.

I'm still a little confused about how to play the game though, considering there are no numbers on the card themselves. How do you determine how much damage something does on a clean hit?

So yes no numbers, its not a strict card game, the damage is all done in percentages, because I literally 'ref' every battle, you declare which cards you are using and how, and I let you know how each attack is resolved and how much damage is done. Every battle needs a third party to judge this.
I'm interested, but the current decks aren't peaking my interest. I'd like to see a good zombie deck like Bones from Yugioh or even more famously Bakura and a deck that's structured on locking opponents plays. As that is also the type of card game player I was back in the day when Yugioh was popular.

Also, I don't see the Persona Part. If it's the part where they use real world magic to summon monsters, that's Shin Megami Tensei. Persona has always had themes about your personhood. It's the reason I suggest Leader cards like in Gwent or MTG Commander decks or even the Planeswalker.

As your Persona was a representation of your greatest fear, insecurity, etc. And currently I don't see the persona part besides summoning shit and that's any SMT game.

A zombie deck is definately possible, I made a good chunk of undead cards when I started building the library.

Its persona based because a bunch of high schoolers have access to a transforming ability that allows them to tap into supernatural abilities, I'm sorry if thats not persona enough for you, but its the game that comes to mind when thinking about the slice of life/part time summoner genre.
