I prefer to chalk the "shounen logic" part to starting with generic tactics until you can adapt to your enemy. Fights go way beyond "who can hit harder" since it about who can best utilize their abilities, surroundings, and strategy to win. It's closer to chess than it is to War (the card game).

They want it to grow here in the West. I mean. They have a big section in the Universal City park in Japan that is solely dedicated to Monster Hunter. Which i want to visit.

It is huge in Japan because they purpisely made it mainly on hend held consoles. But they are taking the risk to reach for the western audience and make it at home consoles and PCs
