@Ellion slight geography issue in the first post. The entire town is elevated, the cafe and all of Beach Street aren't on the beach at all, but rather on a cliff overlooking it.
It double sucks because how the fuck do you travel when cars break down when you ride in them?
Both are great suggestions.
So our candidates are
1) Healing(while taking a portion of the injury to herself)
2) Aggro-tied time stopping
3) Wound transfer(I'm going to classify it as a different power)
4) Machine breaking
The "limit" to how many wounds she can "store" can just be that she transfers them to herself until she has somewhere(read: someone else) to put them.
Is there a poll function on the site? Whatever, copy/paste with an updated count to vote.
Healing: 0
Time stop: 0
Wound Transfer: 0
Anti-Machine: 0
I'm not counting coming up with the power as a vote, so even if you suggested it, go ahead and cast yours(because you may have changed your mind after seeing the other options).
Coolio, I'm actually working on mine, I might have to integrate your characters into it.
As far as relationships go, Zoey and her probably would have been friends, but Audrey's been gone for almost two years and is only just returning as of my first post.
Kiera maybe too, you guys can let me know what you think.
So, we do need a power for my character. I was being pretty hands off about it before, but not many people have chimed in, and I need it decided on so I'm going to go ahead and try to nudge this into action, even if it means influencing the decision a little bit. Here's what we have so far:
Time Stopper: She can stop time at certain moments. This means that either herself or everything around her doesn't move
The Catch: When trying to protect someone else, time stops around her. However, when trying to hurt someone else, time stops for her, meaning she just stands still and becomes a big target. This lasts untill she is hit by something. (no matter the force of impact. This means something like a leaf falling on top of her is enough to make her move again, but so is a bullet) If she has frozen time around her because she wants to protect someone and then changed her mind and wants to hurt someone, her time will stop and time around her will start flowing again. (just so there isn't a paradox of time being stopped for everyone.)
Thoughts from me: It doesn't bother me that it's another time related power, especially when Kiera's functions more as super speed than anything else. I think it works with(or rather, against) her personality by playing counter to her aggression. I'm not sure what I think about how balanced it is. It has the potential to be either a huge asset or a huge liability, depending on the situation. And even after she figures her power out, she's suddenly forced not to act under certain situations, lest she freeze herself. This also works counter to her personality, though, so it's kind of nice.
Edit Edit: My idea for Audrey Springer is....it has a specific name, but I can't remember what it is.
Any way the jist is that she can feel scenes and emotions through the clothing of others (I'm tempted to expand this to other objects as well)
Pro: Can see into the past and read the emotions someone was feeling when wearing a particular outfit.
Pro/Con: She takes on the emotion if the article is worn for extended periods of time. If someone was very happy when wearing a shirt, Audrey would feel very happy when wearing that shirt, even if she was miserable. That means she also gets the sad/angry emotions. ALSO, if the clothing was worn when someone was in extreme pain/pleasure Audrey will feel that pain/pleasure.
Edit Edit Edit: Also, if she wants to feel like herself, her clothing has to be new.
Postcognition, is sort of similar to what is being described, though some limitation is added in. I think that limitation makes it kind of weak. Obviously I'm biased, since whatever is chosen gets slapped onto my character, but the power doesn't seem like it will be useful ever.
A more general postcogntion would be more appropriate, but either way I don't see the connection to the character( @Ellion can let me know what they were thinking, though, you might see something I don't).
I was thinking a peaceful power for Audrey, like healing? Possibly something to clash with her tough-girl nature.
I assume you mean healing others. Once again, it works well to counter her nature, being an inherently passive ability in a character who is very action oriented, and aggressive.
I also think that her powers being applied to other people is a pretty solid choice, because it counters her independence. So healing/buffs/even that protective time stopping one above all work well for that purpose.
I believe Eyeris is thinking on one as well, so we'll see what she comes up with too.
@GiskAre we doing a post order (i.e. everyone responds before everyone else replies) or is it more free for all?
I don't want to have to implement an order, because I think they can choke RPs up if you're not careful. So for now, just don't have two players posting back to back for four turns or anything, you know?
If they get into dialogue that you want to have back and forth, just do a collab post(and don't put in too much filler text if you do this).
Name: Audrey Springer Appearance: A skinny girl with nut brown skin, and shiny, straight black hair cut in a pixie cut. Her almond eyes are vivid green, and her face is often without makeup, though her head is rarely seen without a hat. Her face tends toward the deadpan, and she dresses for comfort, usually in favorite ripped jeans and loose tops in the summer. Fall and winter will see more intact jeans and flannels.
From her collar bones to about halfway down her breasts is inked black, from where she covered a Greenbriar Rogues tattoo after she ran away from home.
It is not at all uncommon for her to be adorned with scrapes or gashes, and occasionally even stitches.
Personality: Generally friendly and conversational in disposition, but her refusal to be stepped on often makes her come off as "bitchy." She's quick to remark that the same behavior in men would be considered normal. She does have to admit that she has a temper, and is easy to get in a fight with. This, along with her general vulgarity tend to get her in trouble, but she's quick to forgive her friends(not so quick to forgive an authority figure).
She is a doer, one to find solutions to her problems, and one to do it herself. Fiercely independent, she hates asking for help, and hates feeling powerless.
She's known for getting into fights, and isn't afraid even of people who could obviously hurt her very badly. She will absolutely bring a knife to a fistfight, or a gun to a knife fight.
Likes: Loud and fast in general. Seafood, as well as the ocean. Pop punk and metal music.
Dislikes: Authority, pretension, responsibility.
Hobbies: Tuning her motorcycle, bar hopping(with a fakey). Surfing(a particularly dangerous hobby at the local beach, but there's a small following of people who do it anyway). Kickboxing.
Background: Her paternal grandfather was a young GI, and his grandmother was an even younger girl from Korea who became infatuated with him and went back to Oregon when the war was over. At home, he became a mechanic and joined the local motorcycle club, the Greenbriar Rogues. His son became a member as well, but he produced a daughter(also from a woman he met overseas, though he had been stationed in Okinawa). Audrey had to fight hard to be seen as an equal around the shop and the Rogues' clubhouse, and never quite managed it in either place.
She was expelled from Greenbriar High for decking a teacher, and dropped out of Riverview's school to just keep working at her grandfather's shop. She in turn left both the shop and the town after her generally sexist treatment at the hands of the men who worked there(including the ones related to her).
She is only just now returning to the town, bitter and contrite after she has run out of money and ready to make some kind of amends with her family.
Power: She heals on skin-to-skin contact. It is involuntary, and when she does it, she takes on 70% of the injury onto her own body.
I've expounded slightly on my character. If everyone could take a look and suggest a power if you haven't already. Or else endorse one that's already been mentioned.
@Gisk I forget how strict you were with one vs two characters and I am super in love with Maren. But if you'd like I could make a second male character so we have another boy. But if you don't care, I an fine with just Mars
I actually don't care about gender ratios. I'm going to have some NPCs who will all be male, too. I think it's okay, really.
If your characters die, you can come up with a new one and change genders if you like.
I also think I'm going to close this for new characters. If we lose players I'll open it again, but for now we are officially full up.
Telepathy: She can invade the minds of others, and with a great deal of concentration can alter the course of their thoughts.
The Catch: A mind isn't a book to be read. She doesn't hear her victim's thoughts, she thinks them as well. In a very real way, other people are invading her mind just as much as she is theirs.
She cannot control another persons actions, she can only put thoughts in their head. When she does this, she is also still susceptible to any thoughts that they have, and rather than taking control of their mind, she is thinking in tandem with them.
The further away someone is, the weaker this connection. About five meters away, her ability becomes difficult to employ.
((Reasoning: As with Ocean, I gave her a power that would cause intrusive thoughts which she will not like. But also, as someone concerned with social justice and liberties, she now has the ability to make people think like her. Will she be a hypocrite if she uses her power? Is it okay if it's for the greater good?))
I hope you didn't cheat, since you knew what the deal was :P
@Gisk I have sometime...mostly written up, but it can wait if you want to post first.
Go ahead, actually. I'm not married to being the first.
In fact, I think it might be better if some others are already going, with what I have planned.
@Gisk just came up with this question last night, but if Sam physicly leeches James to for example grow cat ears, are they permanent even when Sam stops leeching James and does he need to leech James again to get rid of them or do they instantly dissapear after release?
That's a question I never thought of, actually. But, in the most technical sense, he does not have the power to shift his shape when he is not touching James, so they would be "permanent," and he would need to borrow his power again to get rid of them.
But, also important, when you borrow his power, you don't borrow his genetic "library," and would need to consume things to pick up new forms and traits.
