Yeah, a large portion of the show was dedicated to 'becoming a monster to defeat a monster.' However, it would have been far better done if Eren didn't actually have the ability to turn into a monster, and rather they faced the question of how far are you willing to go to survive with normal people instead.
And how much mental hurt and suffering can you withstand as you see your friends perish before you to survive against perilous odds! I wager that would've been much more interesting.
Basically I liked Attack on Titan more when I thought it was going to be a story about humanity surviving despite the terrible odds placed against them in a dark, cynical, and unforgiving world. But then I watched episode 8 and it turned into the typical shonen affair and I was hugely disappointed. Could be interested if it's like the bolded.
I've been sitting on half-written posts and a lot of contemplation. I think carrying on with so few and so inactively as we have been will do a disservice to the game, so I'll close this one up and maybe revisit it down the road. On to other creative muses.
That finale in the last episode, maaaaan, wonderful suspense all around.
And when the plate is spinning with less meat, I'm sure we'll still be open. At any rate, time to get to work on some morning posts...
The IC (and OOC) activity isn't ideal, I understand, but trust me that civilization is just on the horizon of said wasteland.
