Marcus Huxley is inspired in part by characters that follow the "awkward nerd" trope and as such is a mess: he's awkward, extremely nervous, easily excitable, a little bit naive, and leaps without thinking. Adding that in, Marcus wants to do the mystical stuff and doesn't see it as a huge weight on his shoulders as he never has had a character to tout responsibility over him. Marcus is a good kid at heart with more power than he realizes he should be comprehending.

Marcus Huxley grew up in Brooksdale, one of Grant City's many suburban midtowns in the metropolitan area. Growing up in the sprawling suburban area had a definite effect on him and he was teased or ignored by his peers depending on their gender. Marcus has been called a geek and loser for the majority of his life and his interest in urban mysteries has always sort of alienated him from others. When high school was over Marcus immediately set his sights on college, quickly quitting his steady job at the local movie theater to set his sights on the big city. With his grades set, Marcus found himself accepted into a Community College and found a second dilemma in his freshmen year: he needed a steady job. After several weeks of looking he came across an antiques shop not too far from the college he went to and decided that it would be a good place to start looking; though Marcus’ gut feeling of wanting to check out the store had been apparent before due to his taste in urban mysteries and the knacks people always seem to forget about.

This is where he began to work for an old welsh man who eventually revealed to him that he had been chosen—chosen as his apprentice. Marcus panicked but ultimately after witnessing the old man’s vigor and power realized he had either gone crazy or all of the tales and legends had been true after all of this time. Confiding in Merlin he ecstatically obeys this apprenticeship and honestly he felt like he could really use the money from working at the store as well. So the birth of Merlin’s Apprentice became so and over the next year he studied without application, until he found himself becoming inspired by crime-fighters. The debut of “The Mage” was as tacky as a name as it was; Michelle Kinney of The Informant had begun to report on the appearances of the superhero. In this time however, everything seemed to go downhill as his own nameless nemesis watched from the shadows as Marcus' relationship with Roxie begins to grow...

Marcus Huxley by all accounts should be a normal kid studying the geopolitics of sixteenth century Europe, but unfortunately he’s been gifted with knowledge of the arcane stream. Unbeknownst to Marcus he is one of several people in the world with a connection to the stream, a natural connection and it is important for him to take on the responsibilities of the realm of magic. Marcus can create arcane bolts and fields, levitate, absorb and redirect other energy, and even teleport. All of which takes massive focus and strain so he's not going to be nightcrawler or anything. Marcus is by all standings a pretty low level mage and street level hero that could become a lot more given happenstance of his life and how it is changing. His power is varied and scattered over hundreds of applications of the arcane stream and he doesn’t quite understand it.

Merlin (Prime Dimension): Known by many names throughout history such as Rabbi Judah of Prague and St. Cyprian of Antioch, Merlin is the oldest known sorcerer among the Prime Dimension of Earth. Mastering aspects of the arcane, supernatural, paranormal, and cosmic leaves him as the most powerful magic user on the planet though even with the power at his disposal how long this will be so is unknown due to the fragility that has come with his extremely old age. Merlin has taken Marcus under his wing as his “last” apprentice in fear that his last breath will be soon; a death that if he has no successor will endanger the world.

Roxanne “Roxy” O’Hara: Marcus’ closest friend in Grant City and unbeknownst to him the descendent of Morgan le Fay. Roxanne is attracted to all things occult and during Marcus’ first year as a superhero was caught in the middle of several encounters that put her in harm’s way. She identifies as “welsh pagan” though she is far smarter than her punk rock sensibilities and occultism lets on.

Richard Davis:

Michelle Kinney: An investigative reporter, journalist, and editor of The Informant— a news outlet that reports on a variety of issues including Grant City’s insidious criminal activity and the heroes who work to clean up the city.

Stein took a light breath as she stood in front of the group as Kathryn Dradht descended into the ventilation system as per Alan Fouren’s suggestion. Stein wasn’t sure what to make of the orange-haired girl’s abilities but she had survived on her own for several years so she imagined she was at least partially competent despite having what possibly could’ve been one of the most annoying personalities among the pilots hired by Commander Graham’s administration. In many ways she was glad she hadn’t been assigned to her squad and was thankful that the members of her squad were all proven to be capable outside of one obvious exception in Percy Moore. One such person that she was glad she didn’t have to deal with in the state of crisis like this— though she couldn’t help be curious about whether he was dead or alive in his “private” quarters he had assigned due to his insistence for watching Ana at all times.

The clattering of more automated fire made Stein look over at the group as her eyes looked over the individuals who were here— Smith, Jackspar, Strange, Ray, and Fouren. With Cole still in the ICU, Dradht in the vents, and the rest of the group unaccounted for per her knowledge there was only one setup she couldn’t designate for the time being. Each and every single one of them had been trained to work as a squad, though it had remained to be seen how well they took to Commander Marek’s conditioning and drills; Stein really wished that it didn’t have to be this particular situation where she found out. As if channeling her former commander during her time at Volkov she raised her voice clearly and without hesitation.

“Smith and Jackspar with me. Strange and Ray with Fouren. Augments on if you are equipped, weapons ready if you have them.”

“Alright.” Alan looked over to Jingo and Josh. “We'll take the long way around to the armory; try and bypass the obvious route to the barracks. Though, I really wish there was a service tunnel somewhere near the armory— I'd feel better than chancing it in the open.”

Stein nodded, “Try not to get yourselves killed.”

She was a bit concerned she didn’t assign Smith whom actually had a firearm ready with Fouren, but she was a member of her squad and she was responsible for the survival whether she liked it or not. A thought came to her that she didn’t necessarily want to be promoted by Commander Graham despite her not being particularly opposed to it. She wasn’t good at “setting an example” and she didn’t particularly believe in the principle in the first place as she had told the older woman in her squad when they first met. However, orders were orders. Setting off for the door on the left side while Alan made for the one on the right Stein slightly glanced as Alan commented back at her for what could possibly be their last interaction with each other.

“Same with you. Not that I'm too worried. You might be a hardass, but you're strong enough to survive this.” Alan set his data tool to flash on command and hefted the metal pipe over his shoulder. “Well gentlemen, let's be sneaky.”

She hadn’t ever dealt with something like what was going on but she felt confidence and assurance from the comment for some reason.

Yes, I am tough enough.

She wasn’t sure why such words were a comfort as she had never really dealt with such sentiments in her past; especially not with her former squad back in Seattle— though there had been one exception in the past with her commander, Roxa Vox, when she told her to be strong like stone and basically gave her the nickname of Stein in the first place. Had she found the comparison more amusing she might’ve smirked at the comedic sensibility it embodied. She nodded back at Fouren and held up her free hand to her squad to indicate to stick close to her.

“Noted.”
Beneath Still Waters, man. I'll be working on House Reyne.
Now if that doesn't motivate me to make it an amazing RP, I don't know what will!

*Cough*
As her consciousness came back to her, an audible groan left her lips.

Flying was something B.A. couldn’t stand as much was obvious as her dependence on “sleep aid”, especially considering the present company she had to contend with; but she wasn’t going to make it the equivalent of pulling teeth if the group needed to take a plane over to Dubai, Cairo, or wherever else they needed to go. She wasn’t going be so stupid that she would refuse to fly with Murdock at the wheel and wouldn’t make it a game of cat and mouse for her and her squad; especially with the fact that the United States of America was privy in putting them back behind a locked door. In the situation they were part of she had to understand the situation and operate accordingly even if she didn’t like it and she very much did not like it. Face was an idiot, Murdock was actually certifiably insane, and Hannibal wasn’t privy to sharing all of the details of their plan until she needed to. In terms of comfortability B.A. wondered if she wouldn’t be safer being stuck behind the bars of her cell even if it was for a crime she didn’t commit.

But that would still being stuck in a situation that slandered her name and what her mother saw in her; a fact she could not allow. So she would deal with crazy. As she slowly got to her feet after Face took her out of her sleep she groggily sent out a question.

What happened?

She knew what had happened— she wasn’t stupid. She knew the situation, she knew the pilot, and she knew her surroundings. Still, there was always a need of clarity for her when it came to the crazy fool in question’s piloting. Had they been shot down? Had they acquired a crap plane? or was it simple something they couldn’t account for such a legitimate malfunction? She thought for a moment as she rose her hands to her face as the grogginess she felt and the effects of the medication began to wane.

Hannibal turned to her, a wide smirk upon her face. “We’ve landed.

B.A. groaned in annoyance.

…whatever. How far did we ‘land’ from our destination?
Working on getting the post up this morning.
With no word in several days and my interest completely faded with Elaine I feel like I'm going to have to officially drop out. Apologies to everyone; if the RP gets on his feet, NPC me well. Cheers.
I'm cool with attaching to someone else's post in a collab. 'cuz I don't got much ideas for a solo post. And I'd like to not have to drop out of something with Jig if possible.
Apologies for my posts being so short, folks.

@Sloth No problems whatsoever with your CS. It's good, fam.
@Gowi Who were you in Secrets? I know you were there and that you were(I mean are but I accidentally put were so I'm leaving it in) a really good writer. I just can't remember which character you were.

Also I'm tempted to make a douchey stereotypical bully(I promise it will be realistic). That's only because we don't have any full on bullies that I've noticed. Someone to compete with Ro and Jake later on down the line for Football quarterback.(If I make him he will be very stereotypical mainly because I've never done a bully before)

I had two characters, only one of which I got to play. I'll probably adapt one (or both) of them to this RP. One was a teenaged girl who works at her family's record store, and the other was a daughter of a police officer who had a thing for her best friend.
