If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

Lieutenant Gavi

Lieutenant Junior Grade Gavi, formerly of Tellar Prime, the homeworld for Tellarites was now a crewmember of the USS Tricyion, a Science Exploration ship of the United Federation of Planets. Gavi was confident of his skills as an Engineer and thoroughly believed he would be of value to this crew.

He observed the crew assembled in the ship’s mess and listened to the Ship’s Captain, Tetra McCoy. ’She prefers us to be social,’ Gavi thought to himself. ’OK, I can play that game.’ He searched for other Engineering members, believing it best to acquaint himself with people in his department first. He’d already met Ensign Nabiyev and Chief Petrovich. Then he spied a young woman with dark hair wearing the rank of a Lieutenant Commander.

He approached the dark haired human woman, extended his right hand and in a supercilious tone, Gavi spoke, “Hello, Commander. I am Lieutenant Junior Grade Gavi, graduate of the Vulcan Science Academy. I believe we will be working together, ma’am.”

CE Robin

Rachel was actually in an improving state of mind when she received a reminder that the Captain had called a staff meeting in the mess and that it was important that she attend. She could have found an excuse easily because of the coming launch and the preparation of the ship.

She hadn't taken any extraordinary steps in her uniform or hair thinking that as long as this wasn't a diplomatic gathering why bother.
She had never really cared for dress uniforms enjoying a technician's coveralls instead for their utility and their meaning.

Once at the gathering she found a quiet corner and was content with waiting the approximate amount of time till she dropped by the Captain and made her greetings and excused herself to continue her work.

It was while waiting that she was approached by a Tellarite Engineer who introduced himself in a surprisingly polite manner.

"As I am the Chief of Engineering Commander Robin and I wouldn't be at all surprised that we will be required to work together," she answered in playful banter.

Lieutenant Gavi

Gavi feigned a smile in response to his superior's banter, "Yes, of course, ma'am." Without pause, he continued with, "I did want to inform you that Chief Petrovich is currently working on the Antideuterium sublimators on deck eight at the moment. He will not be attending the Captain's meeting," Lieutenant Gavi felt it necessary to inform the Chief Engineer of this. He assumed she knew, but now she knew, he knew there was someone working on the problem. Being ready to leave when the Captain ordered it so, would be appropriate. "I trust you would want him to continue to work?"

CE Robin

Rachel smiled broadly her eyes sparkling with contained amusement when Lt. Gavi told her about Chief Petrovich then in a breathy tone as if she's recovering from laughing says
"This is my first cruise with the ship's Engineering staff and know that I as yet have only reports and reviews to show me everyone's strengths and weaknesses; consider this a shake down cruise.

I am also aware that the Staff has only rumor and conjecture to know my command style. I am not prone to hover, look over or micro manage. I give commands and spare the details so I can focus on the larger picture. It's up to my subordinates to focus on the details."

She paused and caught her breath and suppressed her urge to laugh

"Sorry Lieutenant Gavi but you remind me of my Godfather, Hav when he was a young engineer.

Back to the Subject the simple answer is I've given orders and expect to see them done as I have laid my own and the engineering staff's Honor on their timely completion.

I do not enjoy disappointment."
She finished with a soft tilt of her head as she openly studied his features with a gentle smile

Lieutenant Gavi

'Right', Lt. Gavi thought to himself. He somehow felt very uncomfortable around his commanding officer. This next chapter in his Starfleet career would be an awkward one. He did not know how to respond to such cavalier notions. He would have to pay close attention.

"Thank you, ma'am," Gavi at last spoke to Commander Robin. "If you could excuse me," He finished and then quickly turned about to find someone else to speak with.

The MH-60 touched down on the deck of the USS George Washington, a Nimitz class aircraft carrier. There were several people who flew in on the Sikorsky built helicopter, but none of them spoke to one another. The mood aboard the helicopter may have been deemed solemn, but as most warriors know, it is too loud to hear anyone on an H-60 model helicopter anyway.

Former Sergeant First Class Tyus Morse, stepped off the Knighthawk helicopter and followed the others into the small hatchway creating a door in the Island superstructure on the starboard side of the ship. He followed the others as he headed down to what appeared to be a briefing room. He then took a seat at the rear of the room and sat silently waiting to see what happened next.

As Operator Morse walked along his route, on his heels was a Polish Airborne soldier known as Sierżant Romek Czerepusko. The younger Pole was several inches shorter than the American Delta Operator. He had never been aboard a US Aircraft Carrier, let alone any naval warship of any nation and was amazed at the enormity of what could best be described as a floating city.

When they arrived in the briefing room, Ron, as his friends called him, took a seat on the opposite side of the room as the African American took and three rows up from the back. He also remained silent in his seat waiting to see what happened next. There were only four people in the room now, with others following him from the newly arrived Helicopter.
@Crossfire Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Task Force Zero a Private Military Corporation? I get that impression since everyone comes from various nations or origin.
Doesn't entirely surprise me, you don't want too many officers in the pot, hence why even with Merlin as a Warrant-Officer type, he holds the 2IC position close to JB, yet gets the chance to go a bit mental. I'm really looking forward to playing him, he'll be plenty frightening enough, which I don't really get the chance to really bring out into some of my characters, military or otherwise. The kind of person who yelling sounds like a fucking foghorn.

Please do not confuse the American version of a Warrant Officer with the British version of a Warrant Officer. They are two very different roles. American Warrant Officers have no leadership responsibilities, except at the lowest levels and are considered subject matter experts in whatever their field of training is. British Warrant officers are senior Non-Commissioned Officers and are the grizzled veterans who have been everywhere and seen everything. They are the legitimate bad asses of the British Army. Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CWO2) are the Company/Squadron level Senior NCOs. They are the senior NCOs at Company/Squadron level and are advisors to the Company Commander or Squadron Commander who happens to be a Major. Chief Warrant Officer 1 (CWO1) are the Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs). These NCOs have served for no fewer than 18 years. They know everything there is about being a soldier for the Queen (or King). Check out this website: army.mod.uk/structure/32321.aspx

But that doesn't mean a senior NCO cannot be a 2IC. They can and they are. Every unit has a Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC).

Seriously, two Polish characters in this RP, and they're not mine. You better do a good job of being Polish, or else I'll smash a bottle of Dabrowka vodka over your head. :D

(I'm a 3rd generation Polish person in the UK and speak it fluent)

We've met sir! ;) We worked on some RPs together years ago, Kingkonrad before the original forum went down.

I used to work with a first generation Pole. He was my Engineer and I was the Conductor on a Freight train. He also served with a LRRP Team in the US 173rd Airborne Brigade in 1968-69 in Vietnam. I used to listen to a lot of his stories. They were awesome. Albeit I struggled to understand him at first, but eventually I caught on. His Polish accent was very thick as he came from a small village about 20Km west of the Belorussian border and grew up speaking both Polish and Russian. On another note, I served with a couple of Polish Airborne Officers in Bosnia-Herzegovina in support of Operation Joint Forge in 2001.

I would've thought the lower ranked guys wouldn't be trusted to do much due to inexperience. Insert "The More You Know star" here I guess!

In today's world, Company Grade Officers and Junior NCOs are the ones doing all the fun stuff. It is the Squad Leaders, Team Leaders and Platoon Leaders who knee deep in the action. The Platoon Leaders, however are the most inexperienced leaders on the battlefield. They often tend to be clueless. The successful ones are those who either served as NCOs before they went to OCS or allow the NCOs to do their jobs. They listen to their NCOs who are more often than not voices of experience. I probably shouldn't call it fun because if you ask any of them who served in combat, fun is usually not the term they would use to describe those experiences.

Captains, Majors and higher tend to serve more in Planning, Coordinating, Support and Oversight positions. They are Information managers. When I was in Bosnia, my title was that of a "Battle Captain". My job was to maintain situational awareness of all significant events in our Division's Area of Responsibility (AOR) and then report these events to the Division Commander, his staff, SFOR headquarters in Sarajevo and 7th Army Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. It was very boring, but I knew what was going on in country all the time.

@Grey Rain Yes that's what I was saying, your rank is too high to start off, please lower it to Staff or lower

Rank is trivial in my experience. It is the guys at the bottom that do all the really cool shit. The officers just stand around with their thumbs tucked firmly in the rectums, observing.
Yeah, go right ahead and post him, everything seems good.

Romek Czerepusko added to post with Tyus Morse.

@Crossfire May I submit a second character?

I feel I should tell you that the vast majority my military knowledge comes from movies and video games, and the story we'll be telling will trend towards that rather than realism. Grounded in realism, yes, but at times, blown into full-on action movie proportions.

Thank you for your candor, but this is not my first Military RP on this site or any of several other sites. Years ago, I used to criticize other's posts, but stopped doing that a long time ago. I found that it only served to chase people away from the RP. Then I became frustrated because no one would RP in this genre with me. I will not criticize what anyone writes, nor will I tell someone what to do.

If someone has a legitimate question, please send it to me in a PM, I will respond to it there. I find a forum like this is too public and only serves the negativity rather than providing any productive resolution to a conflict.

I also am a gamer. I played Battlefield 2 when it came out ~10 years ago. I played PlanetSide many years ago. I have played many of the Call of Duty and HALO series of games on Xbox. In fact, I started a Military RP, similar in theme to what you are engaging here, but set a few decades in the future. My Alamo Scouts, Inc. RP, was based loosely on CAll of Duty; Advanced Warfare. I didn't get enough of a response to run it, so it died. I would love to do it some day. I see @ONL creating a Diver-type character. The first mission I was going to send a unit on would involve swimming to shore from a submerged submarine off the shore of the target city.

With that said, I would be remiss if I didn't allow my character to criticize the chain of command in character. But it might be only in thoughts rather than verbally. This is pure fiction. I get that. I am not attempting to outtype anyone and am fully prepared to kill my character if needed.

I do expect others and possibly myself to allow everyone else in the RP to perform simple actions like walking and shooting or taking cover as if the group were working as a team. Everyone in this RP has my permission to do this for my character. It only makes sense if we are attempting to replicate a teamwork environment.
