I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.
I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.
When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.
There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.
I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]
Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Ensign Conlach - Lieutenant Jabari
Kojo was told to report to the Bridge. The Tricyion was about to depart the shipyards over Earth. He took his seat at the helm, reviewing the controls. They were quite similar to the Majestic. A young Trill Ensign entered the bridge and took her seat at Navigation and Operations.
“Hello, Ensign,” Kojo said as he stood up. He turned to her, extended his right, “My name is Lieutenant Jabari. I assume you are the Navigator?”
Ginny smiled and shook his offered hand, “Indeed I am, Lieutenant. My name is Ginnel, but most folks call me Ginny.” She surveyed the bridge. “Isn’t this exciting? We’re on the threshold of adventure. One coordinate and we could be warped to a new civilization, discover new space and biological phenomenon, go where no one else has…” Then Ginny lightly blushed, somewhat hiding her spots. “Sorry. Just a bit overexcited I guess. Tends to make me a bit of a motor mouth. This is my first fleet assignment. I guess you could say I’m a little ‘wet behind the ears.’ At least, that’s a term I heard some of the human instructors use. ”
“Well Ginny, it is very nice meeting you,” Kojo said with a knowing smile. “You must have just completed the Academy then. I served the past four or more years aboard the USS Majestic as the ship’s Helmsman. The Majestic is a Miranda-Class that served as a science ship, like the Tricyion. It is slightly larger than this ship. I was able to learn and work at Navigations and Tactical while aboard the Majestic. If you have any questions, please ask. If I don’t know, I’m sure the First Officer can help.”
“What do you like to do in your free time?”
“It depends,” Ginny responded with a shrug.“I like to hang out with the others usually in whatever they do. I’m up for most games and challenges.” Then she shook her head with a smirk, “Yet whenever it comes to a spar match, I’m out. I took the required courses, so I sort of know the basics. But that class I never did do well in. Usually fell asleep. I also like reading on occasion and singing. Oh and pilot simulators. Real piloting’s better, but simulators get close enough.”
“You?”
“I also enjoy flying,” Kojo quickly asserted. “And not just large star ships. I’ve been qualified on tactical, navigations as well as helm. Maybe we could do some flight simulations together sometime.” Kojo then shifted his weight onto his right leg and let the Ensign know what he really enjoys doing. “Contrary to your lack of desire, I actually enjoy engaging in unarmed combat and armed with bladed weapons or with a phaser. I’m always looking for a sparring partner, but apparently that is not you.” Kojo smiled at that one. “I enjoy reading a good fiction once in awhile too, but prefer the original paper and ink over digitized formats. It is less strain on the eyes.”
“What do you think of the Captain? She seems quite outgoing.”
“Yes, she does. Maybe we can finagle a good poker game around her without breaking regulations or something.” Ginny responded, “Actually, some of my favorite flights involve shuttle craft. They’re among the tightest turners and quickest responders out there, you know, especially, when entering the atmosphere.” Then she bit her lip, “Actually, how good are you at instructing? I know that sparring is a good skill to have in reserve in case of boarding or something happens during an away mission. And it’s a serious weakness to not be somewhat proficient. Or could you suggest something I could self study? I’ve always been one of the most agile of the class with quick reflexes, but among the bottom on the brute strength totem pole.”
Kojo listened to the Ensign talk about sparring. He knew that the critical component of sparring was conditioning. Without it, she wouldn’t last ten seconds. “Do you exercise regularly?” Kojo asked. “I’ve seen body builders attempt striking drills and run out of steam after about six punches. It is less about how strong a person is and more about how often and how long they engage in the sport. Given that we may at any time encounter a race of hostile beings it is a good skill to have especially if you are on an away team. I can work with you, but we need to get into a regular schedule of cardio activity. The act of striking is a cardio vascular exercise itself. I can teach you to punch and kick. I earned a black belt in four disciplines. But if you want to do this, you must commit to training at least one hour a day, two or more days a week.” Kojo was serious about his training and serious with Ensign Conlach about her training.
The Trill shrugged her shoulders, “If that’s what it takes, then I’ll do it. Once we’re off-duty, we can figure out a time that works with both our schedules for the training and I can figure out when to do cardio.” Then she smirked, “At least here, I won’t have to worry about homework and exams. Those could seriously cause scheduling conflicts.” The smirk turned into a little chuckle.
“Thanks, I don’t want to fail the crew for lack of skill.”
With those words spoken by Ensign Ginnell Conlach, the Captain and First Officer stepped onto the bridge. Lieutenant Jabari instinctively took his seat at the helm, ready to receive instructions from the ship’s Captain with Ensign Ginnell following suit at the navigation station.

"Looks like we are going, Bison," Mingan responded to his friend. "Let's go, brother!"
Mingan watched the crazy woman chase after the bandits. She ran to a horse and retrieved a rifle. She then discharged a few well placed rounds and may have gotten one or two of them on the way out. She then quickly retrieved another horse, mounted and galloped hard after the fleeing bandits. "Bison, who is this crazy white woman? She is about to get a bucket load of bees flying her way very fast. Should we save her?"
"I am sorry to hear about your bounty. I have $50 for you here in my pocket," Mingan tapped the side of his blue US Army Infantry blouse. "Looks like we ride now. We may not catch up with the Kookoo bird, but we can at least track her," Mingan smiled at Iiniwa.

"Thank you, Commander," Sergeant First Class Morse, also known as Dash placed his notebook back in his pocket. He had secured VHF radio frequencies and call signs for VFA-102 Diamondbacks. The squadron consists of twelve F/A-18F Super Hornets. The squadron commander told SFC Morse they would have a flight of four Super Hornets available for Close Air Support to provide ordnance wherever needed during their operation. Sergeant Morse shared his callsign, Dash Three Seven with the Diamondback's Squadron Commander to help coordinate air strikes if needed.
Sergeant Morse hefted his pack and followed the others out onto the helicopters taking them into Indonesia. He retrieved the earpiece and listened to the British SAS NCO talking with the Team Commander, Captain JB Upton. 'Man, he does look a lot like Jason Bourne,' Tyus Morse thought to himself. He listened to Chief Bastion detail his ideas and suggestions to the Captain. Tyus silently approved of the Chief's ideas. When the opportunity arose, he piped up, "Eagle, this is Dash. Prior to departing CVN-73, I secured radio frequencies and call signs for the US Navy's VFA-102. Commander Little, the squadron Commander informed me that he could have a flight of four F/A-18F Super Hornet's available to us if we need Close Air Support. I have comms and they are up." As a US Army Special Forces soldier, SFC Morse had training and experience serving with both US Air Force and US Naval Attack Aircraft, working as a Tactical Air Controller.
Sergeant Morse looked around at the others aboard the helicopter to get a feel for who Wolfman, Chip and Breach were. They would be his teammates pretty soon.
Sergeant Czerepusko became familiar with Corporal Thatcher. "OK, Wraith. Thanks for working with me. You are the boss and call out the targets for me. Give me corrections as needed, OK?" Scooter wanted to establish a good rapport with his spotter. "If you like we can swap roles once in a while. That way you can be the shooter and I'll be the spotter."
Scooter boarded his helicopter with Wraith and received his earpiece. He listened in on the conversation with Chief Bastion and Captain Upton. It looked like he and Wraith would be providing overwatch on the ground. They would need to hike up into the hills to find a clear line of sight that afforded decent visuals of the countryside and potential Area of Operations.
Hold on. I haven't posted yet. Should be able to get something up later this afternoon or evening.
This might take a couple extra days to get going. I am having some medical stuff go on and part of that is due to actual fatigue. I want to get this going, I am just a little less certain of the timeline. On the upside, maybe today's doctor's visit will help.
good luck, with the visit, HS. I hope everything goes alright. I am in no hurry. Although Friday, Saturday and Sunday are best for me in RPs. I get pretty busy during the week and the wife hates it when I'm sitting on the computer in the evening after the kids go to bed.
