If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

I almost got a tattoo once, but chose not to for some of the reasons The Harbinger of Ferocity mention above. My father had a tat on his forearm that read, "USAF '56 - ". He planned to finish it later with the year he got out but never did. So, I wanted one that read, "US ARMY '82 - '03" just because dad had the same idea. Obviously, mine would pertain to me. But I never did it. I may have also included crossed rifles for Infantry and the image of my regimental crest on a bicep. Again, never did it. Like HoF said, it is definitely a personal thing.
@Dread Pardon me. I am a parental. I found your comment quite humorous, especially the part about moving out to get a tattoo. I think I may borrow that line for my children when they are old enough. So far my 13 year old has not expressed an interest in Tattoos. Neither has her 53 year old father. LOL
It's even worse now. Back in Cataclysm I grinded a disc/holy priest to 40 in little under two days...
... Mainly because I was more of a Cartoon Network kid instead of Nickelodeon.

I hated it that Blizzard made the grind easier. The old days of taking your time to level allowed it to mean something. Now it is just a gift and there is no value in that. I quit playing around Christmas 2009. I started in Beta 2004.

Regarding the cartoons, channels like Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon came into being when I was an adult. When I was a child, we only had cartoons on Saturday morning. Being from New England, I had only so many channels; 2 (PBS) Boston; 3 (CBS) Hartford, CT; 4 (CBS) Boston; 5 (ABC) Boston; 7 (NBC) Boston; 22 (NBC) Springfield, MA; 40 (ABC) Springfield, MA and 57 (PBS) Springfield, MA. When I was a teenager, they added 38 (IND) Boston.

I remember when I came home from the Army, the number of television stations slowly began to increase. I remember MTV, CNN, C-SPAN, HBO, Showtime, and several other channels came into existence at that time.

Seriously, I would have to agree with you. I searched for a meme stating "I agree with the person above me". I could not find one, but stumbled upon this. thought it was priceless. had to post it. LOL
I am always some parts shocked and frustrated by the fact that most fantasy works have all too few members in the way of felines...

Did you ever play EverQuest(2)? I played this game from 1999 to 2003. They had a feline race called the Kerra which allowed characters to play as any class available in game. I don't know if this game is still running.

EverQuest was THE popular MMORPG to play prior to World of Warcraft. The thing that killed EQ was the slow level grind. I remember playing an Ogre ShadowKnight for about 8 months and getting him to Lv34. In WoW you could get to max level in two to three months depending on how often you played.
I am 50% French, 40% nations of the United Kingdom, 8% Seneca (Iroquois) and 2% Narragansett = 100% American
All in due time. You can post a reflection when you did use the abilities. This way, you set a precedent of what he is capable. I've considered doing this even though we may have written something in our Character Sketches that rends such a precedent anyway. @PKRaptor
Yeah I'm sorry that took a really long time too. I've been going to the gym, which is cutting into the time I take to write posts. Sorry if mine is sloppy and short, but it's still fun. Also, looking forward to writing with you, Rumiko.
It was a good post.

The Chief of Staff was bold, she admitted that to herself and he was well versed; knew the right buzzwords. She liked Mike Gerard because he was informed and organized. He made a great Chief of Staff. Often times she felt like she was playing catch up because he was always seven steps ahead of her. That made her feel slightly inept, but wasn’t that his job? To brief the President and Vice President on the situation? Isn’t that the reason they were in the situation room; receiving a sitrep? It was just like in the Army. Someone was always briefing the commander and the XO on what was going on and the old man made the decision. Everyone else just had to live with it and support even if it ruffled a few feathers.

The problem for Brienne Sylvester was she could be something of a control freak and wanted to know first, but that would be wrong. She was a news junky listening to everything she could get ahold of. When she heard the news from several different sources and listened to the NSA’s Intelligence briefing on the world situation it made it easier to filter out the fake news or the stuff that was irrelevant—not important. Fortunately, she was patient and disciplined. This was a problem, managed internally for the Vice President; one the other staffers would not know from watching her; she held her cards close to the vest when she needed to.

"Good morning, AJ!" Brienne Sylvester stated with a warm smile. It was one of those smiles that could have gotten her elected to President if she ran; one of her more charming charismatic traits.

Not one for beating around the bush, Bri dove right in. “Obviously the Russian President is jockeying for position. They had a fall from grace thirty years ago and want to re-emerge in this new world as a Super Power just as they used to be. We need to placate them somehow. Give them something, but the aliens reached out to the Swedes. They have the communications technology. The equipment. I say we allow the Swedes to continue as a mouthpiece for the world. But the key thing to remember here is, the world is nothing more than a confederation of 193 nations. That is 193 voices, not one. More than likely, whoever is talking to the Swedes is representative of everyone on their end. The Swedes do not represent the entirety of our planet, but neither do the Russians or the Americans. As the Global Superpower we do have a better leg to stand on, but the Russians could argue for that same position. Knowing they are not what they once were, their only card is to unite with us and push the Swedes out.” Most of the people around the table knew what she was saying. She just felt it necessary to clarify the point to fully comprehend where the American policy on Russia, Sweden and the aliens was coming from.

“We need to make a positive gesture to the Russians to include them in our communications, but they do not need to be consulted on what we say to the aliens. First, we need to talk to Sweden to find out what is being said at both ends and insure the United States is kept inside the loop. Who is the American Ambassador to Sweden? We need to get him or her dialed in and representing us in this conversation.”

“Do we know what the visitors are saying to the Swedes? If we consult many of the science fiction authors, they would have us believe that many of the alien invaders want to come here and destroy the dominant species, so they can harvest our natural resources. Obviously killing the human species is not on their agenda. We should count ourselves fortunate in that regard. Any assistance we may render to them may provide us with a technology coup; even if we have to reverse engineer something to understand how it works and manufacture it for ourselves, it will still be a win.”

“We also need to dissect every message the visitors send to the Swedes. Maybe we can garner some intelligence about them from their messages. That will help us to understand who we are dealing with. We have no idea what sort of capabilities, strengths, numbers or resources these entities may have. We must take these first few steps carefully with trepidation.”

Aside from the individual with the green eyes, the group seemed like it had some potential. Jimmy didn’t know what their abilities were quite yet, but all in due time. Understanding the value of teamwork, an individual is usually someone you cannot count on when the need arises.

After placing the tea and cups on the table and then his meal, Jimmy took a seat. The red haired woman appeared to appreciate his friendly gesture, "oh, that is very thoughtful of you. Thank you." She then turned to the assembled group and blurted out, "So, uh... I'm in the metal sculpting business. What do the rest of you do?"

The older Asian gentleman looked toward the woman and asked her, “What is your name? I am Jimmy Wu. I have been training in Martial Arts most of my life and compete in Mixed Martial Arts professionally. If any of you pay attention to the sport, you may have heard of me. If not, that’s OK.” Jimmy poured tea in the assorted cups and passed them out to whomever wanted one.

The attractive blonde haired girl who arrived most recently addressed the group, "hello everyone, please call me Velma."

Jimmy looked at her, responding, “Hello Velma. Very nice to meet you. Call me Jimmy.” The name Jimmy is usually reserved for young men, but this Jimmy was 47 years old and no where near the age where people are called Jimmy.

Velma continued, "formally I am known as Dame Marberry, Velma, Victoria, Vespa, Carter, my family adore hanging the past on its children in the form of excessive names." Her eyes spoke that she was warm and inviting; an amiable soul willing to work with others. “I was working with the International Disaster Relief Society as chief food stuffs procurement and development officer, I was in Agriculture.” Velma’s accent was completely recognizeable. She did not need to clarify her last point. Jimmy had met several British people in his lifetime either in Hong Kong, the States or in Europe. “I am, if not apparent from England, my home, a tiny channel island known as the Isle of Wight.” Velma then offered to shake the red haired woman’s hand. Jimmy would eventually shake her hand as well.

Jimmy Wu was quite curious about the cartoon person. “What is your name?” He addressed with the utmost respect to the toon girl. “How is it that you are animated, yet in the material world? Your presence is both unexpected and baffling to the laws of physics.”
