If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

I'm sortta indifferent to beards, tbh. Some guys can pull them off, some can't. One thing I don't understand is why sometimes they let them grow as long as I do my hair.

Yea, I don't care for beards that grow beyond maybe 6 inches or so. I only grow a beard in November. It has never been my style anyway. I just do it to see what it looks like on me. I have always been the type to look years younger than I really am. I have only a few gray hairs on top of my head. But when I grow the beard, it is all gray. Ugh. Better to keep it shaved.

@POOHEAD189 Your story is more exciting than mine. That was a narrow escape. Happy to see you alive, bro.

I used to work for a railroad as a conductor. I was spotting an empty "boxcar" at a customer's dock. I backed into the customer's spur and tied my empty onto an existing empty rail car already on spot. Since the existing car already had a hand brake on it, I did not put one on the new car I was leaving. I assumed the hitch was good and that the knuckles would hold the car in place. I closed the air valve on the last car I was taking back into the rail yard tied onto the engine and then pulled the lever to separate from the car I just spotted. I told the engineer to take it ahead over the radio and then had him stop just past a derailing device on the customer's track. The spur was on slightly elevated ground. We shoved the train up hill to spot the car. If a car were to get away on the spur track, it would roll over a derailing device before it re-entered the yard. I stepped between the rail to put the derail back on the track. I heard a noise and looked to my right. The empty rail car, weighing roughly 25 or 30 tons was heading at me, at about two or three miles an hour. When I spotted it, it was about ten yards away. I yelled an expletive and dove out of the way. The runaway rolled over the derail and went on the ground. I was safe, but shaken. Apparently, the hitch was not good, the knuckles opened allowing the downhill car to roll away. The air reservoir used to hold the brakes had bled out. There needs to be a high amount of air pressure in one reservoir and zero psi in the other in order for the brakes to hold. The reservoir that should have been under pressure, was also at zero psi. When the two reservoirs have equal air pressure, the brakes release.
This is the first song on my workout song list...

The more you know... now when I play it, I'll never be able not to notice these facts. xD

One more for you...

...In the opening scenes of the game. If you allow the game to run through its introduction video uninterrupted you will notice German Mark V Panther tanks rolling into Paris for the first time. I assume this is when the Germans first invaded Paris in 1940. The only problem with that video is the Panther was designed in 1942 and began production to be issued to front line Panzer units in 1943.
I was playing Call of Duty: WWII this evening. I always seem to pick up on the flaws in the game. I know the designers did an extremely good job in creating the game, but the historian in me can't help myself. The thing I noticed today was the Platoon Sergeant wore the rank insignia of what today is referred to as a Sergeant First Class. In today's army, this rank would be accurate, but not in 1944. In 1944, that rank insignia was referred to as Technical Sergeant Grade 2. This rank was used by Rear Echelon soldiers or US Army Air Force Personnel. It is not a rank used by front line infantry. The Platoon Sergeant was authorized Staff Sergeant which is three stripes and one rocker. Technical Sergeant Grade 2 was three stripes and two rockers. Every time I saw the rank, I cringed. But I'm sure most casual gamers do not know the difference and it does not impeded their enjoyment.

On another note, I tend to burn through ammo pretty quick, even with a bolt action rifle or a gas operated M1 which has a mag capacity of only 8 rounds.
oh shiiit. I lost 30 dollars in the stock market today and my judgement is cloudy. I dream that i'm going to hit the homerun in every stock I enter and I can't listen to my logical predictions. my desires are affecting my ability to reason and logically predict. I should stop and trade another day

You need to stop looking at this in short term. These are long term investments. If you buy a stock at $2 a share and it drops to $1.90 the next day. So what!? You haven't lost any money until you sell. As long as you don't sell, you are good to go. Eventually, it will come back up. Remove emotion from the equation and you will do all right.
I once turned $8,000 into $12,000 in the stock market, but that was a very long time ago. That ship has sailed and the money spent.

Tonight in Krav Maga we did this punch combination that was both insane and fun.
1. Flick jab while pulling trail foot forward to establish a base. The flick jab is just a distraction, a slap in the face.
2. Left round kick to the head. The flick jab sets up the kick. If you do it right, the kick comes less than a second behind the distraction.
3. Right Cross, left upper cut and right cross.
4. Left jab.
5. squat to lower elevation as you throw a right cross to the body.
6. Left spear jab as you stand back up.
7. Right round kick to the left quad.
8. Right cross with power
9. galloping left round kick to the inside of lead leg.
10. Right cross with power.
11. Spinning back kick.

It took awhile to get it down, but I was able to do this combination at least a half a dozen times in a row.
I didn't realize the thread was dead until after I clicked on the OOC link. WC raised it up for me to fall into his/her deception.
I watch the thread daily.
