Current Just ran a stale yellow. Nobody on this website is doing it like me, sticking it to the man like me, blazing a trail against tyranny like me. the only thing revolutionary about you is your rhetoric

Takeru Segawa is the type of man they made myths out of. Intensely privileged to be able to say I watched him burn so bright as he did before going out with a win. I’ll miss you, hero.

So this was a three-way conversation now. Okay, alright, socialization. All good. No issues. He butted into conversations a lot himself, he couldn't really find it in him to be irked with this kid for doing the same.

"ORE SANJOU!"

After all, she was just being helpful anyway. Better than he could say half the time, as he was sure Dallas would readily attest to. Yeah, this is actually alright.

"You're doing fine, new languages are hard. There's a bunch of little food spots around campus. Up that way there's a nice little Italian place th--"

"ORE WA KAZU! ORE SANJOU!"

And then there was this guy, proudly standing with his arms folded across his chest and yelling their ears off from atop his and Zaheen's (soon to be Hansel's) pet project. Alright. Somebody must have been listening in on the puns from earlier and decided retribution was in order. The situation here was steadily spiraling out of control, and he'd never felt quite so lost in his own front lawn.

"Hajimemashite." he repeated, this time more tersely and followed by a deep breath. "Watashi no torakku wa orite kudasai."

Nice to meet you.

Please get (off of/down from) my truck.

Thank Dad I decided to start taking Japanese for my foreign language credits...

That had better be right.

Luke Schwarz -- Deliberations

"Not here." he replied to Lauren's first query from within the inner portion of their group, having been quickly decided a liability on the outside given his lack of defensive capabilities or enhanced senses.

Not that I disagree with it.
I should have at least used the flashlight function of the scroll from in there, though...
Hindsight's 20/20.

Folding his arms across his chest and staring deeply into the split of the path, Luke began to do what Luke did best, what Luke always did, and what Luke had become somewhat infamous for doing too much:

Weighing options.

"Well, if we end up splitting..." he began, gaze sweeping round to take in the group at large for a moment. "It'd make the most sense to have the leaders each go down a path, to start with."

Simple sense, stuff that even April would be able to come up with. By having each team's leader on the two paths, they could keep in constant contact and report their findings to one-another in real time. To not do so would result in them being cut off, unable to call for help.

In other words, a death sentence in this scenario.

"From there, though..."

Vaguely sensing himself being sized up for a brief moment, Jonas took the liberty to do the same. The polite, if stilted voice came out with a Japanese accent, which made sense, given that it came out of a Japanese girl. A very tall Japanese girl at that, unrepentantly tall for her race and sex. And equally unrepentantly lanky for her height as well, culminating in an altogether willowy build of just under six feet, and...

I'm not good with estimating how much girls weigh. I'll ask later, but I'd guess under 130, easy.

Now, that sort of build was probably not what one would first expect of a daughter of Ares, but you also wouldn't expect lanklets like Jon Jones to be dominant MMA champs. And yet, here they were, with her having very deliberately driven to the parking lot of an Ares dorm and with Jon being just about the only reason people still discredited Cormier as "a paper champion". So that's that.

"Hajimemashite," he replied warmly in the same tongue with his own inclination of the head, taking her comparatively dainty hand into his own and all but encasing it, shaking firmly. "Nice to meet you, Dana. I'm Jonas Highwind."

He nodded along as the oddly fashionably dressed and tall in a supermodel-y kind of way girl continued her introduction. She was cute, too, like Tara was in the rare moments where she remembered to smile without licking her chops in some manner.

Was it possibly this was some lost Aphrodite kid? He'd just noted how judging off of appearances alone wasn't reliable, but all that plus the BMW...

You never knew. Weirder things ha--

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWL.

...

"Food, huh?" he smirked. "Answer depends on something: You moving in? I haven't gotten any notices about a new little sister so far, so..." he explained with a glib shrug.

He had to admit though, sending a cute hungry new kid to him? If this was part of a sinister plot, they knew his weaknesses better than he liked, well enough to play to them effectively.

But as long as he stayed vigilant...

She began to answer, but was cut off by another rumble from her stomach.

...

He sighed.

Dal's gonna yell at me for this one, but he's already mad anyway.

"Ah, what the hell. C'mon in, I'll see if we've got anything I can scrounge together for ya." he decided, waving her in as he stepped back to the door and held it open. "Dozo."

Having decided to put his ultimate decision on hold for now, Jonas had been spending the past 15 or so minutes in a sub-meditative state of browsing the internet at random, jumping from forum to article to imageboard and back all over again at his leisure. At times, a yawn would come on, and he vaguely considered taking a mid-afternoon nap. "Nothing much to be doing right now" was the prevailing conclusion, and it looked to be the lead-in to simply another lazy day.

And of course, that would just be right out. Better visit phraktured and remind himself what those warm-up stretches were, he had a feeling Dallas was gonna burst a blood vessel if he wasn't around to keep an eye on him.

Well, especially after that call. he thought in addendum with a chuckle and a smirk. That probably didn't help with the poor guy's blood pressure.

After around 10 or so minutes warming up the joints to an acceptable degree, he swiped his phone from the desk, texting Relo his intent to head out.

Alright nerd stay put I'll head over there he typed eloquently, ears vaguely registering the sound of a car pulling into the driveway, an engine shutting off, and a door shutting as he did so.

He blinked.

... Hold on. Tara's taking a nap right now.

His smile vanished.

Hold that thought. Someone's outside. Will call. he added moments later, before bounding out of his room and down the stairs even as he speed-dialed the Son of the Sun just before putting the phone in his pocket. Never could be too careful.

This way, Dallas would have audio if things went south.

Before he made for the door, however, one short little pit-stop was necessary. Throwing open the door to the hall closet, he fished behind a couple unisex winter coats that were too small for him anyway to retrieve a gift from dad received by he and his sister some time last year, specifically for these situations, "just in case": one Remington 870 MCS.

Perfect.

"If they're looking to surprise me, the game's even now..." he muttered for his friend's benefit, leaning the shotgun against the frame of the door, just out of sight from those on the outside but nowhere near out of reach.

"Moment of truth." he muttered, before throwing on a winning smile just like Dallas had taught him and pulling the door open.

"Hey there!" he called all friendly-like. "Can I help you?"
