The friendly boy was surprised, his reaction delighting Asuka to no end. And to think some people thought it was a waste of time! She'd text her sister to rub it in her face, but she wanted to seem as busy as possible, so she made a mental note to brag about it when she'd call her family tonight. For now, she let herself bask in her mini-victory, trying to be as small as possible to let Yasuhide-san pass as effortlessly as possible.

Once he was seated, she gave him her full attention, turning slightly in her seat to face him. He was a freshman, too, and from Tokyo! So she wasn't the only one who had to travel to get here. Figures that people would come all over to come to Ishin, though maybe she was slightly underestimating people. A majority of any wanna-be Heroes would aim immediately for the top hero academy, so of course people would aim for the top. As for her, she figured her chances would be better if she aimed a little lower--Ishin was still esteemed, after all, so in her head she didn't necessarily have to go for the best of the best. Not yet, anyway.

As for his question, Asuka almost thought he read her mind. Fortuntaely, that wasn't the case. Hopefully. "I learned from my teacher, who headed the Culture Club at my school," She replied, putting her right fist onto her open left hand. "Unexpected, but learning other languages turned out to be a lot of fun." And came in handy for this very moment.

"We both had a long way getting here--I'm from Nikko, in the Tochigi Prefecture," She said, though as much as she wanted to talk more about herself, she figured she should try asking him something. "So, what's your Quirk? If you don't mind me asking, I know some people prefer to be secretive for some reason."

The tap on her shoulder caught Asuka's attention, and she looked up at the dark-haired boy with a look of surprise. She wasn't expecting any sort of contact so soon, though maybe she was leaning forward too much and had gotten in the way. At the sight of the card, however, she closed her compact and pocketed it. The board was the second thing she looked at after his face, the card presented to her almost making her feel like he was trying to sell her something. It was a little strange if she was being honest, but after giving the card a read, she understood. It explained the board he had, at least.

Straightening up, Asuka nodded as she handed him his card back, patting the seat next to her as an invitation to sit. She couldn't say she was as fluent in JSL as someone who had known the language since they were born, but she had more practice than most. Of course, it was one of a few talents she had because she thought it was cool and would help to make herself more interesting, but she wasn't about to go and admit that. No way.

Instead, she brought both hands together, left hand flat while her right gathered three fingers and pointed her index fighter. She figured demonstrating that she could understand him if he chose to sign. "It's very nice to meet you, Yasuhide-san," She spoke as she lifted her right hand, then pointing up with both hands and bringing them together. It was probably a little rusty, but she figured she could probably understand enough if he signed back.

"I'm Sakurami Asuka," She introduced herself with a smile. "Are you a first year, too?"

Lilie was once again captivated by the display of magic, jaw slightly agape as she watched. She was probably never going to get over just how cool it all was. Was everything already cast and everything that happened a consequence of their actions, or were they being watched and then the spells would be cast depending on how they reacted? Either way, she was absolutely fascinated, wondering if she could find out. Hopefully she could maybe ask Kanalie how it all worked, she would love to see how everything was set up.

Once the pot started singing (to which Lilie mused that for an inanimate object, it sure had a lovely voice) she made sure to pay close attention, eyebrows knit together in concentration. The tension in her face eased up as the song continued, her eyebrows slowly rising as well as the pot mentioned a gesture. Not just any gesture, as there really was only one thing that came to her mind immediately, though even the thought of it did make her cheeks burn: a kiss. It had to be, right? Love, roses, gestures, something that lingers--

Except the only person within kissing distance was her vampire.

Slowly looking back over her shoulder at Ben, Lilie had no idea how to even broach the subject. That was weird, though, wasn't it? Weren't vampire-human relationships looked down upon, anyway?! Well, she wasn't human, she was a mage, but if holding hands with a vampire was weird enough, she genuinely couldn't imagine the thought of them kissing. Besides, the pot said it had to be 'true' and 'giving and willing' so even if that was right, they would both one hundred percent need to be on the same page. And the idea of kissing someone that was her superior also made her stomach turn uncomfortably.

Maybe she was just wrong, too?

Clearing her throat, she turned fully to the count, rocking on her heels. "S-So...what do you think?" She asked, hoping he might have come to another conclusion.

Waiting with @Bert Macklin.

Poised in her seat, Asuka's eyes were focused purely on the reflection inches from her face, fingers delicately tugging on every strand as she put them in place. Sure, it was probably a little vain to be so hyper-focused on her appearance, but there was nothing wrong with wanting to look nice for your first day. That said, even if she tugged her bangs this way and that, the soft curls seemed to do whatever they wanted no matter how much she moved them around. Letting out a huff of annoyance, she sat up straight as she leveled an unimpressed look at the compact, lightly pinching a cheek. Ugh, all this stress was starting to take its toll on her skin.

What she needed was to properly accessorize. Apparently, Ishin's dress code was a lot more lax than her old school's, so she planned on taking full advantage. After rummaging through her suitcase, she plucked out a gold headband with a sizable pink flower on it. Placing it on her head, she gently stroked the ribbon, turning her head this way and that to get a better look. Was it too flashy? She didn't pick the one with glitter on it, but the size was questionable. Oh well, she liked the way it looked. The uniform was bland enough that even with her hair she stood out, but she had to admit she kinda liked her ensemble.

Inhaling slowly, she perked up significantly as she flashed a smile at her reflection. "It's nice to meet you!" Her high-pitched squeak came out a little louder than she wanted, so she cleared her throat and lowered her enthusiasm slightly. "It's nice to meet you, I'm Sakurami Asuka. Let's have a good year!" She added a giggle at the end, satisfied. Perfect, she looked as cute as a button, just as intended.

Satisfied with her appearance, Asuka happily slouched back in her seat, digging out a piece of paper out of her pocket. On it were messages scribbled from her family: her big sis encouraging her, her mom and dad reminding her to call them, her little sister wishing her luck. It was nice to have a note to her that hadn't been added as an afterthought, though she frowned slightly at it. She still wished her dad had taken her to the train station yesterday, but Emiwa had apparently forgotten her sheet music, so he chose to let their chauffeur, Sato-san, take her to the train station instead. To his credit, Sato-san had made sure to give her proper directions and arrange for another driver to pick her up from the station to make sure she made it to the academy, but she would have liked it if it had been her dad instead.

Oh well.

Slouching against the car door, she remained quiet for the duration of the ride, occasionally bringing out her phone whenever she got too bored. The car slowly came to a halt, and Asuka felt all her energy coming back. Finally! The car door was opened for her, and after taking her luggage and thanking the driver, Asuka practically skipped her way onto the campus. There were a lot more people than she expected, but she had to admit she liked what she saw. There were a few odd sights here and there, but she figured that was typical for any place where everyone had a Quirk of some kind.

Walking into the auditorium, she was surprised it wasn't packed. Maybe the opening ceremony wasn't going to happen right away? Well, she could still take a seat, anyway, it wasn't like she knew anyone here. Deciding on one of the few seats at the edge, Asuka carefully placed her suitcase under the seat before sitting down, taking out her compact and inspecting her hair once again.

As she lead him down the alleyway, several windows would slowly close. Any person that could have looked their way for any reason suddenly seemed uninterested, the commotion of the crowd muffled somewhat. There was one man that had been in the alleyway, but as soon as he looked at the pair, his eyes were averted elsewhere, and he walked past them, nearly bumping into Harun--almost as if he hadn't seen them. There was an odd silence once she reached the end, a few crates separating them from the rest of the populace on the other side.

The woman finally stopped as she approached the crates, stopping only to hoist herself onto one of them, elegantly perching herself as she crossed her legs. "Call me Lakshmi," She replied as she folded her hands on her lap. "Worry not, I will not keep you in suspense for long. I am in need of a favor that if done, will grant you something you seek."

She paused briefly as she smoothed out the material on her leg, continuing with, "You look like a man that has seen his way around and holds little regard for the frivolity of the visiting nobles. Two traits I am in need of." Despite the lack of a smile on her face, her blue eyes held no malice; they could be described as curious, as if searching his for something. "As I'm sure you are far more than aware, the celebrations have resulted in a mass of nobles all gathering around. One in particular by the name of Qadir has brought something of great value to Khedive Raoul. He went out of his way to obtain it, with many a throat slit and enough blood split to fuel several rituals. Many pains were taken to ensure its safety, although I believe liberating it would make far more of an interesting tale."

"Before I go on, however...tell me, what do they call you?"

Personal Dossier

Name
桜見 未来
Sakurami Asuka

Age
15

Origin
Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture

Physical Description
Standing at an average height and weight of a typical girl her age, Asuka is a cute girl with fair skin and long, blue-and-gold hair. Her big, blue eyes with small, pink crosses are probably her most noticeable feature, her heart shaped face giving her a rather innocent look. She has a fairly slim body type with not much to write home about, though she seems content with her blossoming body. She often wears a large, pink flower with a ribbon on the side of her head. Her possessions and clothing are used to heighten her cuteness, her image well kept and often flaunting what she has.

Characterization
A seemingly friendly and optimistic young woman, Asuka is always the first to volunteer her assistance when asked. She wants to be the person you'd come to with every problem and will do everything she can to help. Her bubbly optimism is said to be either charming or outright annoying, but it varies from person to person. Not that she cares, of course, because her bright demeanor is enough to keep her going through the day. Besides, she's just a happy-go-lucky teenage girl, it's not like she's a scary person or anything. Her boundless energy is matched only by her charm, her desire to get to know people bordering on obsessive--but that's just how she is! The more friends she makes, the better!

Appearances are everything to Asuka, and even if it comes off as insincere, she does whatever it takes to uphold the carefully crafted persona she has taken on. In some ways, she sees no problem with it; people like friendliness. She has absolutely nothing to lose from being polite and cheerful, so she may as well do her best anyway. Not once has she ever uttered a complaint after volunteering her help, either, so it's easy to take for granted. That said, there are times when that same smiling face openly speaks of her disdain or outright insulting people without batting an eyelash. It can be jarring the first time it's seen, and the apologetic followup could be convincing enough to think it's a one-time slip up. Even so, any attempts at delving into it are met with either tearful eyes or with a harsh response, a wall that refuses to break down erected as she insists on moving on.

Personal History
The Sakurami family is a typical one: there is the supportive Kofuku (the doting father), hardworking Wakae (the loving mother), and their three daughters: the intelligent Kowaka (the eldest daughter), the talented Emiwa (the youngest daughter), and Asuka. Growing up as the middle child while her sisters were extraordinary came as a challenge: Kowaka's accelerated learning has led her to become one of the youngest doctors in the country, while Emiwa has made a name for herself in the music world with the violin. The manifestation of her Quirk led to her parents believing that Asuka would be inclined to the medical field as well, and as such often pushed her gently to follow in her sister's footsteps. That said, she found herself playing second fiddle to both her sisters, having to help both of them out whenever asked.

Once she hit middle school, Asuka was tired of constantly being overshadowed and wanted nothing more than to strike out on her own. Despite this, she found herself average at most things, even if she did pick things up quickly. She had hoped that working on her Quirk would help, but even that wasn't nearly as good as her sister's. The only ray of hope came when she accompanied Kowaka to her job after the hospital had suffered some damage. To her surprise, she had been asked to help, and despite feeling like she didn't do much in comparison, she did find herself earning some genuine praise from helping. Even if she had been thanked as Kowaka's younger sister, it felt liberating to be recognized for her efforts.

After that, Asuka had made up her mind: she was going to become a Hero. Of course, her parents expressed concern that the idea wasn't entirely thought through, but if it meant being recognized for her own merits, then Asuka would do whatever it took. She began putting more effort on her appearance, keeping herself as approachable as possible, making herself more cheerful and as charismatic as she could. She began to refine her Quirk, gluing herself to her sister's medical books in an effort to better understand. This would finally be her time to shine.

Character Development & Conceptualization
In any other story, Sakurami would be that one background character who occasionally jumps onto her equally unnoticeable classmate before the scene changes to the main character. This is essentially her waking up and wanting to break out of that 'role' and try to be more notable; she's already the background character in her own life, and becoming a hero would (in her eyes) subvert that. Part of that process is also doing anything she can to stand out and get approval, her primary goal being to become as charismatic as possible to gain the approval of her peers. I think the irony in that is that she probably won't realize that her pushiness won't exactly endear her nor will being in a class with like-minded heroes-in-training make her stand out the way she wants to, but at the very least seeing her adapt to that would be fun.

Ultimately, the point of the character is a typical "be yourself" with a dash of a look into the mind of someone wanting to step out on their own and underestimating both the work of a hero and themselves. Actually becoming someone noteworthy and properly handling the world of heroes is the end game for Asuka, as well as seeing the interactions and reactions from her fellow classmates. I'm hoping that bouncing off other characters and playing a support role will be fun.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
First Aid
I can fix it!

Asuka's Quirk has manifested in a powerful regenerative quality which works with her cells cloning themselves rapidly to fix things. Her injuries heal supernaturally quickly, with minor cuts healing up in seconds. This also comes with the ability to apply that regenerative effect to others using special band-aids that she creates. The small, pink crosses in her eyes are a visual indication on whether or not her quirk is active; once she's completely exhausted her Quirk, the crosses disappear.

The band-aids' primary usage is for healing wounds. The size of the band-aid and time of healing correlates to the extent of the injury and whether or not the target wishes to have their pain alleviated: wounds can heal slowly and more effectively with very little pain and no fatigue, or alternatively, they can heal quicker with zero pain relief and minor fatigue. Her limit manifests as her target's injuries are taken on herself, her natural healing slowing down immensely as she takes on their wounds. She can apply her band-aids on herself, but their effect isn't nearly as effective and takes much more time. Her healing is also ultimately dictated by her own knowledge as she has to understand how it works to properly heal (for example, she can heal broken bones, but has trouble with internal wounds).

Asuka's band-aids can also be applied to inanimate objects to repair them as well. Most need bigger and multiple band-aids, though it isn't required to cover every single crack or broken part. The repairs are much quicker if every part is returned, otherwise it can take a while to repair broken objects due to her inexperience. At the moment, she can repair small objects and has patched up a wall once or twice, but she hopes to work on this aspect of hers in the future to be more effective when rescuing people and helping with rebuilding destroyed areas.

*this quirk cannot cure a disease or purge a toxin, nor does it work on plants

Other Talents & Attributes
I Know The Human Body Inside And Out. Mostly.
Once she got a hang of her quirk, she studied under her sister and took notes. As her healing is dependent on her own knowledge, it became a necessity to educate herself as much as possible. She carries a medical book with her for more complicated wounds.

Of Course I Remember
An excellent memory is key to utilizing the best of her ability without constantly referring to a textbook. That said, it helps to remember the names and faces of people, too. The more she knows, the more she can get people to remember her, right?

Watch Out, I Know Kung Fu!
Having to hold her own is a necessity in the life of a hero. Watching old kung fu movies helped spark the idea, too!

Yeah, I Play A Little...
Having constantly played piano accompaniment for Emiwa, Asuka had to learn to be decent at both it and singing. She has very little passion for her musical talent, as they are a constant reminder of her playing second fiddle to her younger sister.

Eris squinted at the changing light, letting out a quiet hum of disapproval. Time wasn't a thing of luxury, though he figured that was probably so the mages didn't waste all their time on riddles and would move on quicker. He wondered what would happen if the light of the constellation got covered. He shook his head at it, rolling his shoulders back. He used to make fun of his sister for her obsession with horoscopes, but maybe Eris should've given her just a little mind in case the constellation ended up being one of them. Then again, who knows how many of those things there were.

He moved on quickly from that thought as Wells spoke. Siblings in tandem--okay, that sort of leaned into his theory about synchronizing, so that was a plus. Stars and fate could be linked...so something was going to happen when they touched the stars. Eris was a lot more confident in his guess now, all that was left was to figure out what to touch and when specifically. Wells added that there was a star on his end, although the mention of color did bring up a good point. He came to the same conclusion, though, and at that point he figured that this was going to be the best that they were going to get; standing around doing nothing clearly wasn't the way to go.

"No, just count it down like you did before," Eris called back. Worst case scenario, they fail and go back to the forest. Probably. "We'll just take whatever happens next as it comes." He voiced his thoughts out loud, extending his hand. "Ready."

Keeping calm with @Scribe of Thoth.

Gee, thanks Ben.

Lilie wasn't really the sarcastic type, but geez, could the guy have any sympathy at all for her? She just had the living bajeebers scared right out of her! Even now, she could hear the laughing ringing in her ears, sending a chill down her spine. Just the sight of some random guy just coming out of a tree was enough to guarantee that she was going to have nightmares for the next week. All she could hope was that that would be the end of it. Hopefully. Unless he popped out of another tree and tried to grab her and oh no what if it was an omen?!

Her eyes darted around to the other trees as she let out a tiny whimper. She thought this was a test of magical endurance, not something taken straight out of a horror film! As the thought crossed her mind, though, she had to stop for just a second, resting the spell. She had pushed it just a little too much, seeing way more of the forest than she needed to. If they were going to be out here for hours, she needed to be more conservative. Taking in a deep breath to calm herself, she opened her eyes to the darkness. Okay, she could do this. She could totally do this.

Activating the spell again, she continued until she spotted the faint blue line on the pot. Pulling Ben along, she stopped before it to read. "Whether it be love or friendship that sees you through the night, place it here and listen to my plight." She read the clue out loud, pausing for a moment. Friendship or love? It must have been talking about the flowers. Love obviously represented the rose, so she figured this part was obvious.

That said, though, was it really love that helped her through the night? She and Ben were maybe friendly at best, there wasn't really anyone she considered herself to be in love with. Well, that wasn't true, she did have a crush on Aaron, but love? Was it love? Was she in love? Is that why she picked the rose so easily? Okay, yes, technically she did admit that he did help her through the day, but that was before she even realized she had feelings. Unless she liked him before? Whenever she got upset, she did find herself thinking back to Aaron's encouragement and their time together, but...

Oh geez, what the heck was she thinking? She needed to focus! After lightly pinching her cheek as punishment and feeling her (probably red) face, she gently placed the rose on the soil, waiting to see if something happened. "There's a small pot here with soil, so I'm placing the rose on top," She decided to tell Ben, the tiniest smile on her face. "I guess love gets me through the night..."
