Alrighty, we/I/me/he/us will be kicking things into gear this week since I've mostly recovered from the disaster that was Hurricane Isaias, I/he/me/we will throw something up soon, thanks for your patience!

The movement freaked Lilie out as she recoiled, half expecting an explosion--you'd think she'd learn after the whole shark incident--from the magical blob of water. She thought it was going to grab her as the small stream touched her face, though she saw it zip over to Ben. Was this good or bad? Fortunately the consequences of her actions hadn't revealed themselves just yet as she watched it morph into some sort of creature. After a few seconds, however, she let out an excited gasp as she realized it was basically an aquatic kitty! That was so cute!

As she watched it gesture to the way they came, she hesitated. Well, they didn't get the usual post-challenge instruction thing as usual, so maybe they were missing something and this was the practical's way of telling them? If it was meant to be a punishment it probably would've been made clear.

Lilie crossed her arms, frowning to herself. She really, really wanted to follow it, especially when it looked back at them. "We should follow it!" She decided, taking Ben's arm and dragging him along.

'About time', she says, as if disobedience or questioning elders was commonplace. Sarahi openly rolled her eyes, feeling like she got stuck with one of those 'eccentric' sorcerers. She almost laughed at her statement about not being considered an underling; if that much was true, then what was the entire point of taking in novitiates? Regardless of whatever pea-brained scheme the lady was up to, all she wanted was magic. If the magus wanted to be all 'mysterious' and weird then at the very least she could do something interesting.

Diadem chirped once in a while but remained relatively silent, opting to quietly crawl over Sarahi as they walked. They seemed wary of the other two novitiates, occasionally jingling to one another in what she could only assume was wild guesswork. Not surprising considering they opted to stick to her, but at least they were behaving properly enough that she could take in the sight of the pyramid. Now this is what she wanted, even if she didn't get much time to look since Nevrakis decided she was suddenly in a hurry. Maybe she could take some time in the future to admire everything since this was her cult and all. The most interesting thing of the entire trip was probably the flame Nevrakis produced, the light barely illuminating anything. Diadem's light glowed, though their whispers dulled as Sarahi swore she saw a face in the walls.

The chamber's heat was somehow worse than outside. Sarahi let out a slight cough, waving away any smoke near her. At least Nevrakis decided to grace them with an 'explanation' disguised as some sort of stupid wisdom. Obviously they had a lot to learn, that was what they were supposed to do, but Sarahi was convinced the woman was nuts at this point. At this point she'd rather get taken advantage of--at least then she'd get something out of the exchange.

After some other boring stuff that she didn't care about, things got interesting again as the floor shifted. Of course once again she was proven that she really shouldn't get her hopes up about anything as they were presented with a pitifully tiny mushroom. This is what they came all the way here for? If her face wasn't already sketched in a frown then it definitely was now. This was their 'first lesson', although for the first time today Sarahi was not at all surprised once Nevrakis decided to leave--she would've been surprised if she actually decided to stay.

"How exhilarating," Sarahi commented dryly on the mushroom once the trio was alone. "Any ideas?"

Lilie sighed in relief, giving Ben a smile. Okay good, it looked like he was relatively back to normal. Or as normal as he could be. Honestly she was more surprised they were still in one piece! But she wouldn't linger on the thought, focusing more on drying herself off. She had seen Esi take the water right off her clothes once to dry herself, but her heightened control still needed some work--she was pretty sure she'd end up accidentally tearing everything off if she tried, so she opted for the old fashioned way.

As she squeezed everything she could out of her ponytail, she made sure to carefully put on her boots. She was pretty sure she was dry enough to walk comfortably through the forest and to the exit, though she was a little more worried about her wet head. Her earmuffs were cute but they didn't offer too much protection. Oh well, they did have tomorrow off, if she got sick it wouldn't be the worst thing.

Once Ben was ready, the pair left the way they came, having little clues on where to go otherwise. The return of the cold caused Lilie to shudder, rubbing her arms for warmth. As she looked back, she was surprised to see the mist was gone, and only a blob of water remained. She stopped Ben from walking, deciding to examine it closely. She could see the glittering pebbles inside, and she wondered if she would move it. If it was sticking around, maybe it would give them directions if she interacted with it. Lilie decided to poke it, waiting to see what would happen.

Max was so weird.

Eris lightly rubbed his temples, soothing his annoyance a bit. How was he supposed to explain something so simple? What could he even say to that without sounding like an idiot? Maybe he gave the kid too much credit if he really didn't get it, but his response could be interpreted as understanding but not caring. Which was much more Max-like so that was probably it. Eris really was overthinking things and getting all flustered and feeling weird and--alright, he needed to get himself out of this.

He did openly roll his eyes, reluctantly conceding. Whatever, in the future he'd be dealing with Ismene anyway and she could figure out the game of tag. All he needed to do was send him a text if he didn't feel like seeing his face. He might've had a point on the whole 'without asking' thing but like hell was Eris going to admit it.

"Terribly inconvenient is one way to put it," Eris muttered, dropping his hands. "I'll have to add it to the list of improvements. You'll learn what's worth talking about and what isn't." If he can teach a dog not to chew up his slippers he could whip Max into a proper mage. Maybe he should employ a rolled up newspaper or a plastic water bottle, neither one of them could get turned on him. "Worry not, you're in capable hands." He did applaud himself for not adding 'in more ways than one' for once, even if it was because he was tired. Well, he was more generally annoyed than anything if he was being honest, but it wasn't the mage standing in front of him that he was annoyed at.

Deflating slightly, Eris sank into the couch, throwing a glare at his phone. His inbox was getting spammed, it looked like his favorite mage didn't like getting blown off. They had that in common at least. "What is with this woman tonight..." He pinched the bridge of his nose before he began typing something out. After a few seconds, he tossed his phone aside. "Anyway, you're too green to whore out just yet, but it's good to know you're mentally preparing yourself. Initiative is very attractive in mages."

Blah blah blahing with @Scribe of Thoth

Lilie's hands flew to her ears as she squeezed her eyes shut. Grinding again! She was going to go deaf at this rate! As she felt the platform move she let out a gasp, opening her eyes as she realized their surroundings were changing. Why was this place so focused on trying to drown them?! Or crush them, judging by the ceiling suddenly starting to crack. Surprisingly, she wasn't nearly as panicked as she should be--before she was trapped and powerless, but now she was free and ready to rumble.

Okay, since the cat hadn't transformed, it was safe to assume that was what they needed, so that was good. Testing her control with a flick of her wrist, she turned back towards Ben, finding him just standing there. Did he not see what was going on? She tugged at his arm, letting out a small squeak of surprise as the platform shifted. She opened her mouth to talk to him but was surprised when he spoke. Okay, if he agreed that they needed to go, then why wasn't he moving? Wait, he did mention that he heard a woman sobbing before, was it someone he knew?

Despite her hesitance--she wasn't really keen on seeing another loved one dead or dying if she was being honest--she stole a glance at what had Ben's attention. A woman was chained to the pillar, and she felt a pang of guilt seeing how panicked and beaten she looked. She didn't know who she was, but Ben looked like he had just seen a ghost. Whoever it was, she was clearly important enough to actually stop Ben; until this point he was always so stiff and proper that part of her was convinced he was more of a robot than anything, and seeing him actually shaken was...weird.

But now wasn't the time to ask, especially since she was a fan of not drowning. Putting her arm around Ben's waist and making sure he wouldn't drop the opal cat, she eyed the little entrance they had crawled through, and groaned. This was probably gonna hurt. "Hang on, we're leaving," She told him (even though she was pretty sure he wasn't paying attention) as she made the water surround them, and once she was sure she had enough, she pushed them out, hugging Ben tightly as they turned and shot through it.

Of course, like the first time she had launched herself, she greatly underestimated her heightened ability. They went fast, too fast, and it was only by a panicked push upwards that they didn't crash into the bottom of the pool. That push, however, sent them flying, and she had to release Ben to make sure they didn't crash into the ground. By some miracle, they landed in one piece, although she did have to cough up some water.

"We're alive!" She cheered, throwing her arms up. After a few seconds, the adrenaline seemed to fade, and she realized that she was now soaked. Good thing she had taken off her boots, she probably would've ruined the material. She released her bun and wringed out her ponytail, looking over at Ben. "Are you okay?" She asked Ben.

The world knew darkness long before it learned of light. Creatures born of evil called demons roamed the land freely, only ever fearing the light of the sun. Nighttime was their domain until the gods blessed the world with the moon--so long as it shined it would grant humankind reprieve from the night's terrors and banish them to the shadows. However, the demons proved time and time again that they would not be forgotten so easily as they would corrupt the moonlight that kept humans safe, resulting in a phenomenon called the Red Moon. In an effort to counteract this, humankind prayed to the gods for salvation. The moon's blessing manifested in bits of light forming tiny crystals, and those who could unlock and wield their power seized the chance to take back the land. They erected barriers around their towns to protect themselves and would destroy any creature that sought to harm them. With time, these people were called Lunari Priests, and the scattered towns worshiped them as they grew in size. These days each Lunari was tasked with preparations for keeping up the magic of the barriers throughout the Red Moon.

Curiously, just as the next Red Moon nears, the Lunari Priests have been disappearing, one by one...

The streets of Alexandria were a lot different than Luna had imagined, albeit she blamed her uneasiness on the day's events. It didn't seem like her attempt at her spell had caused much of a commotion, fortunately, so that was one less thing to worry about. Still, there was an uneasiness that gripped her, like a cold chill had draped itself around her. She supposed it didn't help that she felt like she was being buried in her thoughts, a multitude of possibilities running through her mind. The rise in monsters, the black crystals--this one was so close to Alexandria that it worried her, but what could she do?

Letting out a sigh, it took Luna a moment to realize she had completely bypassed the shops. Oh, how careless of her, she really needed to pay better attention. As she looked around to see where she had ended up, she noticed the crowd had gathered by the fountain. Strange, she didn't think there would be any proclamations today. But the sound of bells and coins clinking together made her think they were watching something interesting, and she ended up quietly making her way around to get a better look.

A blond miqo'te stood out among the citizens, striking out among his surroundings in a blaze of blue--though she couldn't help but think he would have stood out even if he wasn't the one everyone was watching--dancing with such fluid movement that it reminded her of fabric fluttering in the breeze. A lame comparison, sure, but in the moment she really couldn't think of anything better. The way he moved was mesmerizing, the way he manipulated the fans adding a sort of zest that captured the attention of the people watching. Luna blinked slowly, admittedly drawn in by the style--that was nothing like anything she had ever seen before.

That said, she was so drawn in that only when the crowd erupted into applause did she realize she was still staring at the miqo'te, jumping slightly but hastily clapping along as well. What a show!

"Ow...ow...ow! That one hurt...ow..." Lilie's opinion of the glittering rocks definitely soured the further she crawled. The pains on her hands wan't terribly bad, more annoying than anything, but each one on her knees felt like getting prodded with needles. Her muttering was consistent with each hit, the girl stopping once or twice to give the rocks a scolding look. By the time they had reached the opening, she had thrown caution to the wind and was way too happy to be back on her feet, only pausing to rub her sore spots.

The scene was as pretty as up above, the sight of the flowers in particular wowing Lilie. She was all too happy to see that they matched the water lilies above, though she shook her brother out of her thoughts as she continued to look around. Unlike before, there didn't seem to be a bottom to the pools surrounding them, and Lilie couldn't help but shudder slightly as she looked around for some sort of clue. The cat in the center was definitely noticeable, but after her experience with the koi fish, she wasn't exactly eager to touch anything.

At the mention of a woman sobbing, Lilie perked up, looking around worriedly. What woman? She couldn't hear a lot over the waterfalls, so she wasn't entirely sure what Ben was talking about. At least they were both wary of the cat, but Lilie was still a little confused by what Ben meant when he said there might be more to what was in front of them. Still, even as she did as instructed, there was nothing but stone behind each waterfall.

As Lilie released the water, she gave Ben a small shrug. "Um, there's nothing around us. It looks like maybe taking the cat is safe? Or, well, we won't know unless we try taking it...?" She told him, scratching her cheek. So long as it didn't cancel her magic, in the worst case scenario she could maybe shoot them through the path they came from. Or at least, that was her backup plan for now. "But, um, what woman are you talking about? I didn't hear any crying."
