Hexaflexagon (Concept)
In geometry, flexagons are flat models, usually constructed by folding strips of paper, that can be flexed or folded in certain ways to reveal faces besides the two that were originally on the back and front.

Hexaflexagon (Person?)
Academic who somehow got conned into working for the Government. Been role-playing both on forums and TTRPGs for close to twenty years at this point. I'm like 99% retired from active RPing on the Guild, but I still like to poke my head onto here once in a while to make sure that I didn't leave the lights on.

Hey look at all the peoples! Well alright, alright, alright this seems like enough to start working on the OCC. As an aside if any of you want my opinion on the sheet before hand you can always post it here on PM it and I'll try and throw in my two bits. And beside that also question for all of you as I've stated below what posting length/frequency do you guys prefer? Like in general just so I can get a good idea of what I should set the expected average at. But anyway tally ho!

Summary:

  • A tale of swordplay, adventure and friendship in Feudal Japan.
  • 4-5 Players
  • Posting Length and Frequency TBD by player vote
  • Characters will be the warriors of a small and unimportant daimyo who upon his land and castle being besieged were given the orders to protect their lord's young child and escort him to safety through hostile territory.
  • There is a grounded plot but how we get from Point A to Point B will be shaped by the players.
  • Players own stories and backgrounds will also be worked into plot.

In Character Information:

The place is Japan in the midst of the Sengoku or "Warring States period", a time of bloodshed, betrayal, emperors and warriors to determine the fate of a people. Our story though pertains to a much smaller and more isolated case, it is the story of a dying father, the last hope of a family, and the schemes of a warmonger. The tale begins like all good tales should with death and loss, the backdrop a besieged castle in the late months of autumn falling slowly into the grasp of winter. A child's face looks up upon the scene being escorted hurriedly out of the burning castle to live another day, the slow and methodical flicker of flames twisting and curling into the air - illuminating the heavy black clouds of smoke against the dark sky. A father sits within the center of the burning building for the past three days he has watched all those under him die to protect him, his entire world slowly coming tumbling down as he presses a sword against his stomach. He can only hope that the light that he flung into the future proposers and flourish. A flick of the wrist and a sharp pain and then nothing. The cackling of a warlord reaches out through the surrounding area, catching the child's ears as they flee into the darkness. Violence breeds violence and so this bloody path of revenge will start anew.

The child is the sole living heir of the Raremashita Clan, in the closing hours of the siege the child's father brought in a group of his most trusted retainers to give them a final order. To protect the child and to make sure that the Raremashita clan does not all fade out. They were to escort the child in the cover darkness as their enemies were to be too occupied with the siege. They were to spirit the child away from the grasp of the enemies and take a boat south towards the Ryukyu Islands, where close friends of the clan had agreed to keep the child safe from harm. One slight problem hamper this, being predominantly inland the only boats that would take them to Ryukyu are many miles to the south and in between these two points was land predominantly controlled by enemies of the clan. It would not be an easy task, some may even call it suicidal but this retainers had sword loyalty to the lord and they would go till death to honor his wishes. The fact of the matter that no ships will sail to the islands once the winter season begins and the ocean storms began to kick up only adds to the pressures presented to them. What follows is the tale of these warriors and the child on their journey to safety and freedom. Bandits, warriors, and great beasts will stand in their way. A tale of adventure, friendship, bloodshed, and understanding. A race against time, before the snow falls.

Out of Character Information:

Welcome one and all, young and old to the interest check of Till The Snow Falls. As you may have noticed this is a role play about Samurai with focus on character interaction and heavy amounts of swordplay. Till The Snow Falls was originally made on the Old Guild ages ago by me and now I'm in the business of doing a Doctor Frankenstein and bringing it back to life. In all honesty Till The Snow Falls is an affectionate love letter to the Jidai Geki period piece of Japanese cinema both live action and in animation. If you have ever read Rurouni Kenshin, Blade of the Immortal, watched Seven Samurai or Sword of the Stranger you know what I'm talking about. Stories of heroic bloodsheds, warriors of all kinds in pitched combat where if you just close your eyes you could imagine the sounds of blades sliding against one another, that faint metallic ting that resounds. And so here comes Till The Snow Falls, a story about samurai, bandits, assassins and what it means to be a warrior.

Our cast will be a varied group of individuals young and old, each with their own stories and demons haunting them. Together they are bound to one cause, to protect a life and seek revenge. Some will be in it for glory, some for honor, others redemption and others just because they were ordered to. The interaction between these characters is what I find help really drive this roleplay forward, the stories the players create and share amongst one another. While a path is set forward for them acting as an end goal to strive towards there is no mandate to say that you must follow this path. This roleplay is very much about the journey and not just going from set piece to action filled set piece.

Character Roles

Till The Snow Falls is I find usually best run with a smaller group of individuals, as such I will only be accepting four to five other people to go on this quest. As that is said character sheets will be accepted on a merit based system rather than first come, first serve system that predominates most things. There are some roles that you may want to think about your character fulfilling but that is not necessary. They are as following.

  • The Kid: Yes if you want you can be the kid. Cocky and headstrong probably about 10 years old, they will be the most naive of the group and probably the most angry given the circumstances. Young and impressionable and sort of the heart that holds the entire group together. The child of a noble lord they have grown up from the most part in luxury with servants to answer his/her need. They will most likely have always had dreams of being a cool warrior like the rest of the group and so maybe things can reflect that. Everything else though First Name, gender, appearance and the rest would be up to you. If nobody would like to be the kid, I shall make the kid as a semi-NPC for us so it's really up to you.
  • The Young Blood: Cocky, hotheaded, and arrogant with everything to prove and nothing to lose. The youngest of the warriors will act as a sort of quasi older sibling to the Kid.
  • The Leader: Knowledgeable with a straight head on their shoulders. The de facto leader of the group and probably one of the more experienced of the group and a bit older. Has some apparently qualities to them, in charge of keeping all the clashing personalities at bay and being the end all of important decisions that may affect how the story progresses.

Till The Snow Falls Character Sheet

Appearance:
Your appearance goes here. If you are using a picture image.

Name: Please use traditional japanese naming order here so lastname and then firstname.
Age: Kid will be about ten, the rest will be anywhere from 18-55
Gender: In this story gender does not dictate how much ass you can kick so feel free to choose whatever you want.

Physical Description:
It's probably best to actually describe the character if you are going to rely on a picture, or you can do without the picture if you like, but definitely describe does'nt have to be too long just a basic understanding of what they look like.

Skillset:
Talents one has either naturally or through education or training of some sort.

History:
Explain how your character got there -- no 'the story will come out in RP' lines, please --

Psychological Profile:
An idea of how the character thinks and so forth; should be linked to the history.

Equipment/Weapons:
Alright well I suppose we could still keep this afloat then! And I'm glad that you guys are making progress on your character sheets!

@Spoo
So what your saying is your weakness is arithmetic? I will keep that in mind lol. But yes I guess it would be very firefly in that way. Personally I was basing it more after some place like Hong Kong or Seoul which is basically the same deal. Heavy Asian currents in culture but with western undertones seeping in. So you've got the good understanding of it.

Bodvar Bjarki ploughed into them now, hacking two handed, his only thought to do as much damage as he could before he fell. And now they fall in heaps before him, one on top of another, and both his arms are bloodied to the shoulder, and he felled so many, the dead were stacked all about him. He stormed on as if he was insane.
~ The Saga of Hrolf Kraki

Summary:

  • A low fantasy world based upon the Roman Empire at its peak
  • Characters are members of a warband within a larger Viking inspired invasion of said fantasy equivalent Roman Empire. Warriors of great kind and a ruthless reputation, how this actually plays out depends on the players.
  • This is a roleplay about a very interesting clash of distinctive cultures and how said clash affects and shapes the rest of society oh and the journey of this warband through this campaign
  • The idea of the roleplay is to have fun both with the combat and telling the story of this war and the characters that live within it, while the main focus is upon this warband there will be occasional snippets of information of the rest of those moving and dealing within the world
  • The Roleplay starts right at the beginning just as the Warband’s longship crests upon the shores of the empire and will progress from there.
  • There is going to be a lot of lore and world building below, not all of it is necessary to read but it will give you a better sense of the world in its current state. :)

In Character Information:

This is a story following a small warband in the midst of a massive clash of cultures. Our tale begins in the 900th year of the Red Age but to warriors of the north knew it without number, in the midst of an endless eon of snow covered plains and raging seas: the year of the landfall. The great Vattin Empire stands in the midst of the peak of its expansionist policy. This great empire have come to conquer most of the outer world subjecting all that may resist underneath their dominion. These imperialists efforts bring with them the “benefits” and “privilege” of civilization crushing tribal identities in a subjected class system and enforcing the strict worship of Keyshaw god of war and glory, and patron god to the imperial throne. This conquest has gone unchecked for some time the might of the massive professional army that the Empire can field for its military action crushing those that resists and forces the hands of those that would rather surrender to pledge allegiance to the Empire.

And yet there are now rumors of longships landing far to the northwest in the territory known as Tysk, huge in their proportions as long as seventeen men arms stretched out touching finger to finger on its side. Thirty sets of oars jutting out from the wood, with large sails adrone with the image of a great snarling beast. The warriors that step off of these boats were tall and strong covered in hides of bear and mail easily cutting down any resistance that the northern fishermen tried to put up. The Provincial Governor of Tysk, Calirus Morrant a veteran of the Vattin Military quickly rose up part of the Provincial Guard to quell these barbaric invaders only for his own troops to be slain to the last man by this warriors from the ships but taking a large portion of the warriors with them, the peasants having witness these battles telling tales of men and women fighting with the strength of twelve men and shattered shields in single blows.

This would be the first clash between the Vattin Empire and those whose name would become synonymous with fear the Drengr. These warriors came from across the sea from the lands beyond in seek of new foes and glory. The name translates roughly to “Those Of The Warrior’s Heart”. These warriors come from an entirely different culture and world thousands of miles away from the known world, a culture not dominated by emperors or bureaucratic planning but of survival and war, for hundreds of years they were little more than nomadic tribes waging war against one another for food and survival but today these former tundra nomads are united under a great Warrior King, the embodied will of the Great Spirits that drives them not to kill one another but to kill those who are weak and so deserve it. Having swept through their own lands they know crossed the sea smelling the scent of blood and the call of challenge that awaits them.

They are warriors, and now they have their prey.

OCC Information:

As you may have already guessed this is a story about Vikings... well fantasy vikings but vikings still the same - the Drengr coming from a land across the sea have landed in the known world and are ready to set set fire to it all. These warriors while seemingly barbaric in nature have spent many years in their own land crushing those that would stand against their warbands and have adapted over time to become an organized force if one that rallies on strength and speed rather than sound tactics and unit placement. But they have never fought a foe such as the Vattin Empire whose on imperialistic tendencies have forged their armies into strong and disciplined forces who prove a willing challenge to the Drengr. This is the story of this conflict.

The warriors of the north think that this will be another great slaughter and the Empire thinks they are little more than barbarians and the Empire has put down more than a few barbarians in its years. And yet what would follow would be one of the longest wars ever recorded in the history of the known world and certainly the bloodiest of them. A conflict that would shape the history of the world to come, where peasants become heroes, warrior kings die in glorious combat and empires teeter on the edge of ruin.

And yet there is more. This as mentioned above is also a story of a clash of cultures. The Vattin Empire is already filled to the brim with at least a dozen races who have been subjected by its army and all of these races each with their own cultural identity all more less stuck together. And now they have the Drengr coming from across the sea whose on cultural ideals and practices are much different than that found common within the empire. And as these warriors march south this conflict of ideals soon becomes apparent as The Empire fights to keep order, to maintain civilization and with it prosperity, while the Drengr fight for glory and with it freedom to those that can take it.

The Characters will be part of one of the many Drengr warbands that set foot in the known world. Men and women, young and old chosen not by rank or status but by skill of the blade as is the way of the Drengr. They are either Drengr proper or they are slave folk captured in battle and having proved that they have skill were assimilated into the Raed as the Drengr do not care for race or origin only for skill. And in this way they are sent to kill those that would try and stop them. To bring down the enemy and ravish in their still fresh blood.

@Hexaflexagon So... are we giving up, or are you still waiting for more people to make a CS; or just get more interest in general. Not gonna lie, it'll be shame to see this die before it even had a chance to live.

Well that really depends on you guys really. If you guys don't mind having a smaller group and we get the rest of the CS ready to move and use I'll happily continue this. But I'm going to need the assurance that you guys don't want to watch this damn thing die before it even has a chance to fly. XD
Placed in the wrong place please ignore this
N/A

Downed enemies hit with the type of attack they are weak to will be subjected to a damage number multiplied by 2.5

That's what you said when you explained the battles on the first page, so I was just going by that. Since Gruffydd knocked him down already and she used Wind which it was weak to. Or did I not understand the rules right?
Masako
HP: 69/69
SP: 51/51

For one reason or another the giant shadowy monster of death was still standing. It definitively was stronger than the ones that Kazuo had dealt with earlier. But that did'nt mean they should give up right? No, that means you just got to keep on hitting it until it stops moving. Masako clutching her rubber band gun ran forward to get an angle on the beast and knew what she had to do. She channeled herself feeling that familiar tiger like roar from before and a surge of warmth as the tiger mask forms. Summoning Hervor she pointed at the creature and the large ethereal warrior pointed as well with her spear. Masako yelled at the top of her lungs feeling a surge of energy leave her body.
"Garu!"

Masako Casted Garu!

Rolled a 17!

43 x 2.5 = 108! Damage!

SP minus 4! 51 - 4 = 47 SP

A surge of wind came forth from underneath the great beast almost like a mini tornado whipping across its ink like flesh as it roared out in pain. Though that did not seem like enough to knock the thing out just yet. Though Masako was at least proud of herself for actually being able to do something.

Slackers! Get in gear! :p

But indeed! *raises crotchy old man cane and complains about the slowness and disinterest of youth these days.* Though seriously as I said before you don't have to make your sheets into works of art people, I just want character sheets so I can know who your character are and what bad ass things they do you don't have to go make the next great novel or anything XD Because we don't want this thing to die before it makes it out of the water.

@Damiann47
Super Anti-Terrorist girl squad you say? So while going for Ghost In The Shell we ended up veering to the right and smashing into Gunslinger Girl? XD But that's okay I really don't care that much for skewed gender ratios as long as the cast is interesting!

@Spoo
Oh hell we can rush Mediocrity! But we won't because we are nice people. XD
And either Northern European cyborg or Redneck Cyborg works, Redneck cyborg with a cowboy hat may be hilarious though. lol Right because according to Japan all American Rednecks have Cowboy hats right? And according to me a damn dirty Yankee that you guys all are cowboys anyway? XD But do whatever the hell you feel like.

@Turboshitter
Oh don't worry it may seem like MPS are super happy and helping everybody right now but that definitely won't be the case. And well you have to remember even if they are benefiting from the surgery what they are doing is two steps away from Child Slavery with Guns its not like once they sign up they can go you know what this is a bad idea and I'm going to go rethink my options. Faustian Bargains may still be Bargains but that don't mean your not selling your soul to the devil. :D

And for the 400-XL pick which ever one you really want to pick!
