• First and foremost, the golden rule of roleplaying applies here: ABSOLUTELY NO GOD-MODDING.
• Keep things lighthearted. If your character is about to experience something traumatic or extremely violent, please check with the GMs first.

• Fill out your character sheets in-character. They're applications to the Guild, after all! When filling your sheet out, please fill it out in your characters dialogue color. Thanks!
• Try to keep your characters to tone! We're not looking for edgy characters, we're trying to have fun here, and stay true to the source material. Let the sheet set the tone for you; bright and lighthearted.
• This roleplay is focusing on fresh, brand new mages who are applying to join the brand new Magic Guild Leviathan Fang. As such, your characters shouldn't be too experienced or strong! All characters should be no higher than C- Class at start.
• Celestial Spirit Mages are allowed, but at first you will be limited to just one Gold Key. You will have chances to obtain more as the plot progresses. Opiuchus is also not allowed from the beginning. However, feel free to bring as many Silver Keys as you like, as most Celestial Spirit mages can only have one gate open at a time (for now).
• The driving force behind this roleplay is character growth. We'll be making sure to give everyone their moments to learn new spells, become better fighters, become stronger mages overall, and above all else: really enjoy those classic shounen anime power spikes, and epic moments.

Reasons for Applying

Why us? Why here? Look, I know I wrote down up there that there’s only two reasons to join a guild, but I was kinda wrong! Some people join it out of a sense of self-righteousness, out of feeling the need to do good for the good of all goodly folk! Some people? Some people are just sick of being made fun of by the town guardsman and join a Guild to properly show them what’s what. Other people are chasing a dollar! Some are chasing fame! What’s your story?

Why Should We Pick You?

Listen. This could be as simple as “Because no one else is applying.” Or you could go into a rant and rave about how you’re the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. You could even say that you’ll stand in front of our Guild Hall with a sign saying ‘Leviathan Fang Sucks Eggs!’ for the rest of your life if we don’t pick you. We don’t care! The application needed to be five sections long, or the Magic Assembly wouldn’t approve us.

Rank System:

Leviathan Fang has a rank system in place to mark the strength of its members. This serves as an incentive to create healthy competition among its members, as well as ensure nobody takes on a mission that they can’t handle. The ranks are as follows:

S+: These are top-tier mages. They take on the most difficult jobs sent in to the Guild, and have access to special missions called S-Class Jobs that pay in the millions. S+ Class mages are called upon to handle extreme magical threats, and have even been known to fight wars on behalf of their country. They carry an unmatched level of prestige, and occasionally advise the Magic Council on Guild matters.

S: These are extremely powerful mages. While not the absolute top of the line, they can easily hold their own with S+ mages. They also have access to S-Class Jobs, and are often pretty famous. They can take on multiple large magical threats on their own and are highly skilled combatants. They represent some of the strongest living mages in the current day and age.

A+: These are experienced mages with great magical prowess. They are well-renowned and powerful, taking on more difficult jobs for the Guild. An A+ Class mage is both respected and feared, and is likely on the path to achieving an S-Class rank.

A: These are experienced mages who demonstrate great proficiency with their magic. While they aren’t the strongest members of their Guild, they are still respected for their demonstrated skill. A-Class mages can take on magical threats with relative ease, especially when working together.

A-: A- Class mages are fairly strong mages who simply don’t have a lot of experience. They can be counted on to handle strong magical threats, especially when working together. They still garner respect from their peers, and are seen as having great potential.

B+: These are mages who demonstrate good proficiency with their magic, and have some experience to boot. They can take on lower-level magical threats relatively easily, but can find themselves outmatched on occasion. They have potential, though, and often prefer to work in groups. They are handy to have around as backup, as they can usually handle combat situations well.

B: B-Class mages aren’t particularly powerful or experienced, but do demonstrate some level of proficiency with their magic. While they might not be able to take on greater magical threats, they are more than capable of helping out. These mages usually handle lower-level jobs.

B-: B- Class mages demonstrate some ability with their magic, but are either not very powerful or lack the experience necessary to make the best use of it. They usually know some basic spells and have some level of combat ability, but otherwise should not be relied on to take down magical threats by themselves. However, non-magical threats (such as low-level monsters and the occasional bandit) do not pose much of a challenge to them.

C: C-Class mages are rookies. They have only taken one or two jobs and demonstrate little proficiency with their magic. They might demonstrate some potential or talent, but they need time and practice to truly come into their own. They cannot handle most threats on their own, even the most low-level of enemies. (This is where some characters will be accepted.)

D: D-Class mages are completely entry-level mages. They have never taken a job before and demonstrate very basic ability with their magic. They are not very strong and should not be counted on to handle even the most basic threats by themselves.

Mages move up through the ranks by completing challenges given to them by the Guild Master (Lance, in this case). This can be a job that the Guild Master deems worthy, or a task he comes up with on his own. These challenges are to be taken on alone, but mages are allowed to bring along a companion or two just in case. These challenges escalate in difficulty with each rank, and are unique to each mage. In other words, one mage’s B+ challenge will be different from another’s.

Welcome to Faygold, a limited monarchy ruled by King Lucian and Queen Anoriah. The Royal Family has two advisory councils, that of the High Chamber and the Magic Assembly. The High Chamber is a group of powerful nobles, acting as a check and balance system to the King and Queen. The Magic Assembly also serves as a military force for the kingdom of Faygold, stepping in to defend the country and handle internal threats that Magic Guilds can’t handle on their own.

Magic Guilds are a de facto form of law enforcement. Each Guild tends to operate within their nearby area, though the more powerful Guilds can be called upon from anywhere within the kingdom. These Guilds will be asked to combat and solve problems caused by anything — ranging from monsters, to bandits, and even evil mages. On occasion, two or more Guilds will team up to take on larger threats together. As a collective group, these guilds are overseen by the Magic Assembly, who can approve or revoke a Guild’s official status.

Unfortunately, the very strength of these Magic Guilds often invites challenge. Challenge, in turn, incites conflict. And conflict? Conflict breeds catastrophe.

This catastrophe manifests itself in the form of Dark Guilds. These Dark Guilds use their magic for sinister purposes, from petty thievery to all-out murder. Smaller Dark Guilds appear with some regularity, but truly powerful ones are very rare. Often, these powerful Dark Guilds are made up of cultists who worship evil magical entities. Speaking typically? The presence of the Magic Assembly is enough to discourage the formation of these Dark Guilds.

Magic in Faygold is incredibly diverse. While more common varieties such as Transformation magic exist, there are hundreds — possibly even thousands — of types of magic out there. Some are harder to learn than others, but there are carefully written books documenting even the more rare forms of magic. Many mages will start off self-taught, commonly using these texts.

Each year, Faygold’s monarchs hold the Royal Tournament, in which a large group of Guilds gather to compete for glory and acclaim. Guilds are eliminated each round until only seven remain. While the contents of this competition change each year, there is always a large battle royale at the end between the remaining guilds.

This event is broadcast nationwide and is treated as Faygold’s proudest tradition.

Seafalls City is beautiful, considered by many to be the heart of Faygold. Situated at the top of a cliff, it sits atop a series of waterfalls that pour into the sea. The city is a popular tourist and vacation spot, known for its natural beauty and hospitable locals. However, in recent years, it has experienced a growth in petty crimes, specifically of the magical variety. With most of the real Guilds taking on larger threats, Seafalls City is primed to house its very first, brand new Magic Guild.

Hi, all!

This RP is going to focus on a fledgling guild known as Leviathan Fang. Newly founded by a man named Lancelot and his two companions, it seeks to combat a rising local crime rate (and enjoy the richers that come with the job). Having only been recently recognized by the Magic Assembly, Leviathan Fang has a long way to go before it gains prominence as a powerful guild among the others in Faygold.

Leviathan Fang is, first and foremost, new. The guild is so new in fact, that our opening scene will focus on the three guildmasters (played by the GMs: @Hey Im Jordan, @CaptainMarvel, and @Fabricant451) of Leviathan Fang reviewing their applicants: your characters! However, as a result of how fresh the guild is, we’ll be expecting a certain flavor of character. Applying mages should be neither very powerful, nor very experienced. No one will be starting off at a rank higher than C- Class. That is to say, no overpowered characters will be allowed.

Similarly, we’re trying to keep our tone as lighthearted as possible. As such, please avoid making characters that are extremely dark, brooding, or edgy. With that said, of course your characters can have can have had hard lives or some form of tragic backstory! Life is hard; it’s absolutely valid to reflect that within your writing and your character. However, even in the manga/anime, the characters with darker backstories still fit in with the lighthearted tone. We’d ask you to do the same, and leave the darker characterizations to the antagonists.

How old are you?

”I am thirty three. I just turned thirty-three thirty-three days ago, isn’t that coincidental?”

”That’s the only reason I’m on this show. I don’t need money, really. But being in a house with 20 other people? Some of which are sure to be attractive women? That, now that… that’s an interesting idea.”

Where are you from?

”Where am I from? A small mining town in Virginia, called Banner. You know, like Bruce Banner? I lived a decent life I guess, but I didn’t want to stay there forever. Funny how I wound up doing that, right? More on that later, since I have to fill out this whole questionnaire thing.”

Do you have a job?

”Well, let’s see. My first job, I worked at a local bicycle repair shop. Under the table, just working the counter. After that? My first real official job? I was a pizza delivery driver, from the time I was sixteen until the time I was almost 18. After that, I moved away for college. There, I was shooting for a bachelor’s degree in economics. In 2010, I bought 2,500 Bitcoins for a quarter each. Then, late in 2017… I sold them all for almost 20,000 dollars a piece. And my parents said I wouldn’t be happy doing anything but mining.

See, now I don’t really like my hometown, but I got enough cash flow to push it the way I want it to be. So far, so good. Besides, what I actually do, I can do from the comfort of my very spacious home office. Thanks, shitposters and darknet abusers. I never thought it’d go that well, but I mean I had a feeling. That’s why I bought so goddamn many of them.

What? I should stop talking? Uh, okay.”

What has your life been like so far?

”Well, I was born in Banner, Virginia, like I said earlier? It’s not that big of a town, really. In fact, it's pretty small... But, whatever, it’s home I guess. I grew up thinking that I’d leave it, but after I made my millions, I sort of came back. Weird, right? I guess I should start at the beginning.

I was three days early when I was born, which kind of made my mom mad. I think she was angry about it the whole time I was growing up, but we kind of got along better as time went on. It was my dad I never got on with. He was working in the mines from the time I was born on, until he couldn’t work anymore. I didn’t want to do that. My dad didn’t like that idea, he thought I was wasting my time with what I wanted to do.

What did I want to do? What every poor kid wants to do: play with money all day. I liked math when I was younger, as I got older I started like financials. Stocks, investments, bonds, all that kind of stuff. In high school, when I was working for the pizza delivery and making a bit of money that way, I invested in penny stocks to get myself started.

It was fun, and I wasn’t bad at it. The art of economics and making money is something I’ve turned out to be pretty good at, as it happens. I guess when you’re the only one in the room with the testicular fortitude to take the show on the companies that seem risky. Whatever, you win some and you lose some, right?

Anyway, that’s basically how I planned to put myself through college. My mom and dad didn’t really believe in me — and even if they did? They didn’t have any money, so I was on my own. I handled it alright, though, you know? I did okay for myself. I worked hard, I messed around with investments and stocks and it put me through. After college I moved up to New York, where I got a job at a hotshot investment company, and I was not bad for a rookie, and they dug me there.

Four years in, though? I was 25, and the office started talking about this thing called Bitcoin. I wasn’t too sure about it, it seemed like a pipedream at the time, but… I lost the bet, and my commission for the day — every last cent! — went to Bitcoin. Now, for those of you who don’t know, Bitcoin are a form of virtual currency. In fact, I think they were the first one, at least the first one to hit the mainstream.

Basically, you buy the coin and use it online for stuff, sometimes… shadier stuff, but whatever. Anyway, I bought the coins and I sort of forgot about my Bitcoin wallet for seven years until they started getting big again. By then? By then I was already kind of a big shot. I’d figured this out, and I was making my way up the ladder there, it was going well.

So, anyway, I’m making a ton of money there. No, seriously, life was good for the Dick Master. It still is. In fact, it’s better now. See, late last year? I sold those Bitcoins, all 2,500 of them that I bought, for twenty thousand dollars a piece, like I said earlier! For those of you who can’t do math? That was a clean fifty million dollars that I walked away with, on top of all that other money I have.

So basically, I decided to retire from the position I was in, kind of. And I moved back to Banner, and when I got there I bought the mine. It wasn’t worth much, coal being a dying industry and all. I bought the mine and a bunch of buildings on Main Street, and I built my own little investment firm.

Money never sleeps, and like… I don’t either. But that doesn’t mean I can’t be comfortable while being awake at all hours, you know? So the firm is built directly to my specifications, and I made it just the way I want it so that everything is perfect, down to the fucking height of the countertops. Life is good! And I shipped my parents off to Florida. I own this place now, basically. I’m definitely the richest person here, anyway. What do you mean I’m running long? Alright, alright. I’ll try to keep the next parts concise.”

Any quirks, talents, or weird facts about you?

”I have been told, by people that I don’t fully trust, that I am a bit too talkative, and that I ramble a bit. I don’t know, I hard disagree with those people. Talents? I’m good at math. Stupidly good. What else? I can pilot a helicopter — I learned after I bought a second one.

I can accurately guess the cup size of a woman via touch alone. No? Eh, it's worked before. It'll work before I leave, trust me on that.

Why do you deserve to win?

”Truth is? I don’t. I don’t need this money. I don’t deserve to win. I’m sure there are other people who deserve to more, but I’m just here for three things: 1) some peace and quiet. No phone, no internet? Sounds like a vacation to me, baby. 2) Free food. Yeah, I’m a millionaire, but how do I think I stay that way? Exactly. 3) Babes. There’s bound to be some hot girls here, right?”

And if you do win, what will you do with the million dollars?

”If, but some grace of god, I actually win this tournament? I’m gonna tell you what: I’ll divvy the money up with the other contestants. I’ll passively make a million dollars before this thing is over… I’m just here because I was told there would be alcohol and it was co-ed.”
