Welcome!

I'll try and be as brief as possible to allow for suggestions from those who are interested in this clearly-been-done-before premise.

This RP will be loosely based on the Supernatural theme. Two ghost/monster hunters in the modern world. That said, I'm looking for something gritty; real to life characters, no superpowers besides that of plausible abilities like that of clairvoyance or other psychic talents, etc. Still, whatever abilities might be chosen, in the end I really want them to feel plausible and realistic. To be OP in this matter would, in my view, remove a lot of the suspense and fun.

My Character: Will be a man, maybe in his twenties to early thirties, who suffered a tragic loss at the hands of a supernatural entity some years ago. He will be given to drink and less than standard practice in the hunt for the entity that supposedly killed his loved ones. Sure, he sounds a little cliche ahem, but i'm going for it anyway XD

Your Character: Must be human, of course. I'll be looking for an attractive female character to play alongside, preferably one played by a female for the sake of authentic feminine reactions. But if you're a guy and believe you can play the role just as well, then don't be afraid to stick your hand up. Your character will be my characters partner in this sordid hunt for the supernatural, and in time they will likely become more than just friends and colleagues (hence the romance tag). Other NPC's (for lack of better reference) can also be introduced, but we can cross that bridge when we get there. Aside from all that, I really want a character that feels real and down to earth to keep the gritty feel. Heads up, I'm probably gonna be a little fussy with applicants.

Other things to note:

-Try and steer away from anime and other cartoon-like images with your character. real-to-life images are preferred. But please, OC characters only. Imagination is essential in this RP.

-I'll be the GM, obviously, but when playing 1X1 I like to stand on a relatively even ground with my partner. I'm not complaining if you want to bring about scenarios of your own. In fact, I welcome that sort of initiative. Things are more interesting and fun that way. The only thing I ask, which might seem ironic considering the topic, is that the ideas are plausible and feel believable to our world and what we think we know. Of course, crossing the line is also welcome when it's done right, but that can be said about anything.

-I was also considering the possibility of a small group, rather than a 1X1, but I'll keep it as a 1X1 unless, or until, more than one potential candidate expresses their seriously attractive interest.

-Posting intervals.. well, this is a thing. I'd prefer that replies are made fairly frequently, anywhere from 1 to 3 days. but I mean... RL can hold us back at times so I'm not too concerned about a casual pace. Ultimately I don't want my partner to feel pressured into posting. "OH HELL I'VE GOTTA GET A POST OUT TODAY BEFORE HOKUM GIVES HIMSELF AN ANEURYSM!" Pls no.... As long as you're serious about joining and don't have any plans to abandon my sorry ass, then I'm good. Just have fun!

-Posting length should be more than just a few sentences. Like, efforts are appreciated. I'm not saying I want an advanced post every time, that definitely isn't necessary, but one or two or more decent paragraphs would be nice. Hey, quality beats quantity any day of the week. I'm not a grammar Nazi either, naturally mistakes are bound to be made. But that said, I'd prefer my partner to take a bit of care in their work.

-I guess I should also mention that this RP will be taking place via the open forum, not via PM. Lately, I've been finding less and less reason to hide or keep RP's a secret. Let others enjoy the read if they want to.

-You can contact me with question here or via pm, though.

Alright, I'm done for now. Look'n forward to hearing from you!

...That wasn't quite as brief as I was hoping for.
Hey, I'll PM you about one of your ideas.
Second Character

@Dartbored Fairy

While Victor huddles behind one of the last remaining crates to be loaded onto the Aurora, he can feel that dark, sinking fear tying a knot in his stomach. For a moment, but just for a moment, he feels a little dizzy as his mind races to find reasons to justify the doubts he was having about stowing away on this specific ship. Or was it more of a concern about wanting to leave the Capital at all? He couldn’t be sure which… but one thing became certain very quickly, overriding that sickly knot in his stomach; he needed to find a better life for him and his friend. After all, a life on the streets was no life at all. Sure, running wasn’t much better, especially when running into unknown territory, but at least it would provide the hope of a better life to come.

Finally, he summons the final ounce of courage needed to make the next move onto the ship. With a deep breath, he speaks to his friend to ensure she is ready also, though hopes that his whisper isn’t too soft for her to hear.

“Laika…. Are you ready for this? There’s nobody watching. We have to do it now. Or never.”

In a blur of movement, Victor pounces atop the crate and pivots as he reaches to the security camera on the wall above. As he grabs the camera, temporarily blocking its view with the palm of his hand, the distribution of his weight causes the camera to shift its line of sight. With that, and the final phase of their plan complete, he leaps down from the crate and starts walk.

“Let’s go, quick!” He whispers again, though his words are so very soft that he doesn’t expect Laika to hear him.

In the hopes that his friend will follow without a problem, he walks in a casual but hasty manner along the remaining stretch of the walkway, around the corner, and into the passage that leads to the cargo bay of the Aurora. No personnel or security guards are present for now, but three more cameras are passed along the way. Victor however keeps his faith, knowing that he and Laika aren’t being detected. Still, after what the suspense made feel like an hour long walk, though was likely only just a minute or two, they arrive in the cargo bay. Victor then begins zig-zagging through numerous rows of storage containers until reaching the far corner of the room. There, he hunkers down by an active data computer terminal and breathes a massive sigh of relief. Due to the lack of security alarms going off and the absence of any guards in pursuit, it was clear that there plan was a success. They had successfully arrived unseen and undetected on board the Aurora.

Realizing for a moment that he had in his haste forgotten about his friend who was meant to have been following his lead, he turns his eyes frantically, desperately searching the dark shadows for her.

“Laika…. Are you there? I can’t see you…. Is everything okay?”
Yeah, I don't see a problem with a Discord server, it usually helps with more direct OOC communication. Plus they're kinda more fun when we want to poke each other about things.

Change of plans, looks like I found some time to write today. So here it is....

@Quote5

Hey, Quote!

I'll present my Stowaway character sheet as soon as possible. Been a bit busy today, so I'll probably get it up tomorrow.

Looks like fun!
Welcome to the Guild. I like your preference of RP genres. Probably see you around.

Have fun!

Boris

Gosh! The Trios guards sure were nice to Boris. Boris had never met guards so very allowing before. Normally they were a little mean and sometimes even maybe made fun of Boris, but not these ones, not at all.

Boris was smiling wide as he made his way through the Guards Barracks and into the Processing room. There, he saw the armor on the racks above the crate. He recognized that armor right away, it belonged to the Tin Man Boris had met earlier. The Tin Man hadn't actually provided Boris a name at that time, so Boris figured he might as well just keep calling him the Tin Man, since he looked a lot like one. For a moment, Boris just stood and stared at the armor, wondering what the Tin Man might have done wrong to get himself locked up. He chuckled for a second or two, imagining the Tin Man stealing a cookie or something like that. After his little laugh, he used his keys to open the door to the cell block.

He pushed the key chain away into his trouser pant pocket, still holding an amused smile on his face as he strode down the walkway between cells. That was until he found two prisoners in two neighboring cells. One of them must have been the Tin Man, the Other one must have been Ovarin.... or… wait…. Maybe the Tin Man was Ovarin, Boris couldn’t discount that possibility. But that probably wasn’t true, and for the sake of making things easier for himself, Boris decided that believing the Tin Man and Ovarin were two different people helped a lot. Still, he had no idea what the Tin Man looked like without his armor on.

For a while, Boris stood at the point where the two cells met, looking back and forth at the two prisoners, biting his lip while thinking, trying really hard to decide which one was Ovarin and which one was the Tin Man. He would have just asked straight away, but prisoners aren’t very nice people, that's why they're in jail, and Boris knew that maybe they could lie to him. Really though, Boris knew that finding out which of the prisoners was the Tin Man would be the best idea to start, because that would mean the other man was Ovarin. Well, probably anyway.

Fortunately, Boris knew a little magic trick a young boy taught him a couple of years before. It sure was a good trick, and it hadn’t failed Boris yet. So, taking turns pointing at one prisoner then the other with each word of the spell, he started the magic chant:

"Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,
Catch a Dragon by the toe.
If he hollers, let him go,
Eeny, meeny, miny… moe."

Boris’s finger was pointing at Kaldalis with the final word of the chant, which was when the smile finally left his face, replaced by an expression of a very serious nature while he asked Kaldalis the question:

“Are you the Tin Man? I bet you are, my magic spell never lies.”
