Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

Hey all.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity has authorized me to create tokens for use on the battle maps. These tokens will be circles with a colored border. My intent is to use the images you have on your Character Sheets and the colors that are currently representing your PCs on Harb's maps. If you would like to request a color, please let me know (either mention me below or PM me). A hex code would be appreciated since I am possibly either color blind or just really dumb with color names.

That's what wifey says anyways. She's an artist, so she's allowed to be a color snob. Anyways I feel I've drifted off-topic. Tokens. Colors. I'll try to finish these up in the next 24-48 hrs, so if I don't hear anything, I will just usr Harb's color. Or something close cause colors.
Katia shot a worried glance towards Haemar as the shadows began to swarm him, but quickly saw her fears were unfounded. The wizard’s skill with the blade was impressive, and when the weaklings did manage to pierce his defenses, they were met with an arcane barrier. With both the verbal response and her quick glance telling her that Haemar would be fine, Katia turned her attention to her friends running forward.

“Last one there is an ugly dog!” Katia called out before scurrying along the ground with surprising speed. She quickly overtook Thea, shooting her a grin as she passed, and approached the ugly leviathan. When she was within a few paces of the creature, she leapt into the air, bounding off one of the crossbow bolts that had penetrated its onyx hide and lifting herself to look into the creature’s eyes.

”Purple is so not your color,” she agreed with Cesar, a smirk appearing on her face before she brought the staff down to strike on what she hoped was its skull, then whirled around, swiping at its face with the claws on her feet. Allowing gravity to take her once more, she plummeted, her momentum landing her at the monstous form’s side. ”Your move, big guy!”

”What are you thinking?”

Ryobi looked incredulously back at the person who had asked the question. “You’re insane. Completely insane.”

“He said so himself. Get on her good side, and you’ll go far. So, get on her good sides. You’ve always excelled at that.”

Ryobi shook his head, unable to fully comprehend what was being said. “I’m not going to sleep with Jan. That’s ridiculous. Just be happy with what we’ve got for once.”

“I’ve never been one to be content with normalcy. You know that. I take what I can get. That’s how I got you. That’s how you got your job. And that’s how we’ll get on top, just like the Captain said. You’re not going to flake on me now, are you?”

Ryobi sighed and looked over at the sleeping toddler nearby. “Of course not, Sayako. I’d do anything for you. You know that.”

Sayako approached, a broad smile filling her face. “I’ll always love you, Ryobi-kun.”

“I love you too.”

Ryobi rested his forehead on the window pane, looking over the station. This was too much. He thought he could handle it if he looked at his deceased friends as bodies instead of people. That quickly proved to be impossible. A tear rolled down his cheek, and he wiped it away, hoping Jan didn’t notice. “They must have had to kill each other,” Ryobi replied quietly. “At this point, I don’t care why or who was at fault. We need to keep moving.”

He drew in a deep breath before pushing away from the window. “Can you lock out system controls from here? Shut everything down: airlocks to the ports, elevators, anything nonessential. We need to keep the prisoners away from the civilians, and we need to make sure the doctor’s okay. After that, we’ll just round up the prisoners, get them back in the cells, and re-open the station.”

His grip tightened around the handle of the pistol at his side. “Easy, huh? What could possibly go wrong? We’ve got to make this right, no matter what.”

"So, we just let them carry our stuff for us?" Brandon still couldn't get over how large the place was. Sure, he was expecting a big house, but this was ridiculous. On the other hand, no one else seemed to be waiting around for the house to get any smaller, and Brandon didn't feel like getting left behind on the first day.

At Jocelyn's query, Brandon chuckled wryly. "Hopefully I didn't forget anything. If I did, I can probably find it in town. I momostly just brought clothes and a couple books. A place as big as this probably has its own laundry." Not sure what else to expect, Brandon handed the roses to a butler. "Uh, sorry to ask more from you, but could you put these in water please? Thanks!"

At his friend's suggestion, Brandon nodded. "Yeah, we should probably go say hello. Do you know what we're planning to do all summer?" he asked as he began following in Amelia's footsteps.
”Well, I’m pretty sure that’s not supposed to happen.”

The words were uttered just moments earlier as the world seemed to be torn asunder. Katia had traveled for months, years in search of a place she could call home. When she finally felt she had found one, the fates deemed it necessary to send it careening into an undulating sphere of death and destruction.

There was probably a metaphor in there somewhere.

More importantly, however, was the new threats that emerged, seemingly from thin air. Magic may not have been Katia’s specialty (indeed, much that required intense thought was something she cared little for), but even she could tell that this arcane being deserved no less than their immediate and violent attention. If nothing else, the being was taunting them forward, goading them into approaching. And what could mere mortals do against a colossus this size? Whatever it was, they had better do it, and quickly. The sphere of destruction did not appear likely to wait patiently by.

Momentarily caught off guard by the massive destruction all around them, Katia was brought back to the danger close at hand by the -whizz- of a crossbow bolt striking the enemy before her. Grasping her trusty walking stick with both hands, she swung haphazardly. Before it landed, the words from her teammate echoed in her ear, and her focus returned as she slightly adjusted her swing, slamming it into the pile of shadow and sending it back to the depths of darkness from whence it came.

“Thanks!” she called out over her shoulder, whizzing off towards the next enemy. She bounded forward, following Thea and the others into the fray. Just before she arrived at the dark trio of shadows on the stairs, Katia planted the quarterstaff into the ground with a vicious howl, propelling her up to deliver a roundhouse kick directly into the face of the closest shadow while a free arm struck out at its nearby companion, attempting to rake the darkness off its chest.

“We gotta take out the big guy!” Katia called out, continuing her rush forward until she came to rest behind Thea. This was the sort of exhilaration she had been waiting for. The previous fights they had shared together were fun, but nothing beat the world crumbling around you as you fight for life and justice! Or at least, for your life.

Shame about that world though. It was kinda nice at times.

Ryobi approached the two bodies hesitantly. Death was not entirely a stranger to him, but avoiding it had been one reason he accepted this transfer. Inmates killed or attacked each other on Omega, but far less frequently than in Tokyo, and his coworkers rarely received fatal attacks. But this... this was almost too much.

His footsteps slowly shuffled forward, each quiet thud bringing him closer to accepting his Captain's mortality. From a distance, it was easier to compartmentalize, to simply treat them as bodies. He knelt next to Jan and examined the Captain's knuckles, the same conclusion coming to his--

Keep her happy, and you'll reach the top, mark my words.

--mind. The Captain had always been... would always...

Ryobi drew in a deep breath, attempting to stabilize himself, but the breath drew in the smell of blood. Burchill's blood. Blood that Ryobi might as well have spilled himself.

If you have a problem with that, talk to the warden.

Ryobi looked over to Jan. "I uh..." His voice almost squeaked, and Ryobi quickly cleared his throat. "Perhaps he was defending himself from Benton? Or maybe..."

I didn't request this post, but it suits me, Sir.

Ryobi shook his head and stood up. He needed to put some space between himself and the deceased. "Kitt, I know this isn't your speciality, but please scan the entry and exit patterns. I want to know if the caliber matches the gun." Ryobi walked away from the scene towards the large window overlooking the station and leaned against the glass.

But it suits me, Sir.

I think this was discussed in the past, but I'm wondering if this could ever become a feature:

Since we allowed GM banning, what about the ability to hide posts with the press of a button? Not like moderators who can completely remove posts, what I believe it should entail is that anyone would be able to show the post (for themselves) with the press of a button (or if you have a better idea, I'm all ears). This would be super helpful when I GM because I can filter out people who got accepted but never posted, thus waste a spot in the CHAR tab!

Every time I scroll over their sheets, it's like they're insulting me.

And yes, it probably can be really abused, but so can the ban feature. lol

This would be very useful for lots of reasons. Accidental posts, spammers, or people no longer in the RP. Allowing co-DMs this power would be nice too.

I also would like the ability to edit a co-DM's post and vice versa. This would help with battle systems in Tabletop significantly, as well as having othee uses.

One reason why putting Descriptions on why people are banned is that it encourages negative discussion about someone behind their backs where they are unable to defend themselves. That's why I say it's abusable more than the feature itself. I don't believe that sort of discussion is edifying to a community. @Mr Allen J
