Death looked over at the two older boys. He was sure they remember the maze well. They had done it only a year ago. He was proud of how well the new arrivals were handling the challenges. There had been a few rough starts but all and all he thought they had a good class this year. "I think they are doing well enough. No one has been seriously harmed this year."

Griffin leaned against the wall of the Death room. He watched this years weapons and miesters go through the maze. The place was a challenge to say the least but it wasn't as hard as the really world. Surviving Death's game didn't mean jack as far as he was concerned but Death did it every year. What he gained from it Griffin couldn't say. But it had to be something other wise the man wouldn't waste their time.

Hmm...but it will only buys them time. With the rate that the ghosts were going, the spell will only last for another minute... The hatchlings must take this chance to figure out how to deal with them and defeat the ghosts.
Griffin was surprised when the ghosts froze. He looked to the woman but she didn't seem to be doing anything. Why had the ghosts froze? He supposed that it didn't matter. He would take advantage it. He created a sword out of the shadows. It wouldn't cut normal things as well as a real sword would but it might be able to handle the ghost. He ran towards the closest ghost. He was pleased when his sword sliced the ghost without a problem. He made short work of the ghost in the city.
