If you're buying "health food bars" make sure you check the sugar content. A little natural sugar is normal, but it ain't heathy if it has 20g added sugar.

Just shout to the heavens "UWOH SEGGS" and wait for divine inspiration. Or your family's disapproval. Whichever gets there first.

Rurik sighed, staring at the ice-wall. He was glad Christine had pulled it off in time, but... now what? Sure, he could easily get past the wall, but why would he want to? There was a hoard of imps over there. No, they'd have to find another way up.

"Welp... let's get going. They'll get through eventually, and I don't wanna be here when they do," he told Christine. They didn't have to go far. Rurik stopped at the doors of the elevator. He pressed the button out of curiosity, but it accomplished nothing. "You know, I think most elevator shafts have ladders. Just gotta get the doors open. Shouldn't be hard." He cracked his knuckles and wormed his fingers into the seam between the doors. HNNNNNGGKGK! It barely budged. GRRRRRR! Still nothing.

". . ." he stepped away, looking annoyed, but glanced at Christine who'd just witnessed his failure. Thankfully, his face was red from the effort of prying... thus hiding his embarrassed blush. He may have felt slightly emasculated. "So I'mma just blow it up, then, K?" He placed his palms against the door, but then began hearing voices echo down the hallway. "Wait... dammit, they're here, aren't they?" Rurik looked back the way they'd come from. The St. Laurel's students, and not the ones they were looking for, had caught up it seemed.

Oh. Oh no...

He recognized one of the voices.

Fucking Katherine.

Back to blowing up the doors then. Quickly. Before the footsteps he heard approaching rounded the corner and-

"Ah, shit..." Rurik hissed under his breath before he gave up and turned to look down the hall. Too late. "Hello, Katherine, so... lovely to see you again." The derision in his voice betrayed the forced smile on his face. He was really, really bad at dealing with Katherine, especially in front of Christine. There was no love lost between him and the literally hotheaded girl, but he tried to fake it at least a little in front of his girlfriend.

It had all come to a peak when he'd had to fight her in a tournament. Before long, he'd realized fighting her was difficult and painful and had just given up. It had ended with a punch to his jaw that had come dangerously close to shattering it. So, yeah, he didn't want to do that again. Win or lose, polite or rude, there was no nice way for him to deal with that girl.
OK, so the machinery doesn't make her tall, just bulky and heavy. K.
And as for Clara, all I had pinned down were long hair and red eyes, but those'd be optional I think? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyway, her height is sort of significant to me though. She'd be taller than Bak

Wow, she must be really tall-

but she'd be about even with Alto I'd imagine, maybe slightly taller.

(sorry, couldn't find a smaller picture...)

OK, so maybe I just missed it if it's been stated to be otherwise, but I always imagined Bak being one of the tallest characters in the RP, if not due to Bak's innate height, then because of the fact that she's basically a f***ing mech at this point. So, since it's been brought up and her profile doesn't offer any clues, I will ask. @Gentlemanvaultboy, how big is robogirl?

And are we saying that, regardless of how they compare to Bak, that Clara and Alto are both very tall people?
Yeah, as le potate said, demon-behind-her Clara gets my vote. The last one is really cool too, but the demon one matches my mental image of her.

"Playful" old Mephisto is my vote there. Running from IRS is my second choice.

I like the man of action King, seems to match the energetic vibe I get from him.

And I have no real opinion on Alto. I feel like in my mind Clara was always blonde, and Alto being light based makes blond make sense for him as well... but then we have overlap. I hate overlap. Personal pet peeve. Sure other characters can be blond, but two leaders? TOO MUCH OVERLAP! REEEEE! But the other options don't fit in my mind, so sure, blond. Personal favorite for you it is.

So hey, me and the potato agree on at least two of them?

Rurik let out a small sigh, resigning to being dragged along by his overexcited girlfriend. It seemed she was prepared to drag him through every room on the floor. That said, in the distance he could hear the tell-tale sounds of Bak's clomping, metal feet. She was moving on it seemed. If neither her nor Gilliam thought this floor was the right one, there probably wasn't a reason for them to stick around. They'd just end up alone, surrounded by demon-spawn.

"This splitting up thing isn't doing us much good, we should-" He began to speak, suggesting they find a stairwell to the next floor. There was probably at least two sets of stairs, so even if they didn't go the exact same way, they'd at least end up on the same floor and thus not totally separated in case of emergency. Thing was, he didn't get to finish speaking.

As he urged Christine to drag him toward the stairs, rather than the next room, a door burst open as they were passing it. A small-ish, red creature with claws flew from the room, and Rurik had to dig his heels in to bring both of them to a halt. The good news was after a year of trying not to get blown to kingdom come by Bak, he had pretty decent reflexes. He tugged Christine back and threw up his hand, projecting his shield.

The imp, mid-leap, face-planted against it. The only thing missing was the stereotypical squeegee noise as it slowly slid down before plopping onto the ground, stunned. He saw the glowing eyes of another imp, but put his shield away and blasted it flying with a bolt of kinetic energy. With silence momentarily restored, he could hear something else. Bak's steps had gotten louder and more... echoey? It seemed she'd found the stairs.

"We should-" Follow the sound and go up those stairs, but it seemed he wasn't allowed to get a word in edgewise at the moment. Another door farther down burst open and a whole team of five or so imps scurried out. Rurik began wracking his brain, trying to remember what he knew about imps, but suddenly the hallway lit up. The group of imps had banded together, and suddenly he remembered what he'd been taught. 'Fairly harmless to a power-wielding individual, but dangerous in groups.' They were all channeling their fireballs at once, creating one, much bigger, scarier fireball.

Rurik just blinked, "Oh no. Whatever shall I do," he spoke robotically. They launched the blast and he just lifted his hand again, projecting another shield. The fireball bounced back and, with screeches of alarm, the imps scattered like roaches after someone hit the light switch, their fireball scorching naught but the patch of floor they'd fled from.

By then the first imp was back on its feet and leapt again. Rurik caught it, his hand wrapping around its face. However, rather than try to claw its way free or bite, its body began to twitch and spasm, "Hm, yeah, you don't count do you?" Rurik smirked, a slightly darker side of him coming out. Imps didn't count as living people, at least not as far as his powers were concerned. The other imps were regrouping, but that was their mistake. Rurik let go of the imp in his hand, launching it like a living projectile at the small group.

The imp then exploded, splattering across the hall and blasting the other imps against the walls to crumple to the ground and lay still, their small bodies shattered.

"Imps can go boom, good to know." Rurik shrugged. BANG! CRASH! BOOM! DING! BANG! CLATTER-CLATTER! It suddenly sounded like someone had dropped a whole kitchen's worth of pots and pans. Rurik raised an eyebrow, but soon remembered something, quickly identifying what had happened.

Bak sucked at stairs.

But there was another problem. He soon heard dozens of claws scrabbling across the wooden floors. He realized that the imps hadn't necessarily been attacking them, so much as running from Bak. And now it probably sounded like she was coming back for them, and quickly. Door after door began to fly open down the hall and the cacophony of claws and screeches began to grow louder... and closer.

His head whipped around to Christine, eyes wide with panic, "Ice wall, ICE WALL, ICE WALL!" He hoped she could make one big enough... and more importantly fast enough.
AAAAAAAAH! Bak is the most twistedly cutest thing ever! I love her so much! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

If she and Rurik aren't besties later on in this RP, I'mma cry.

At the time she'd been content to just stand there and laugh together with another human being because it was the most beautiful thing she'd ever felt.

It's sad though, because to keep Rurik in character, I have to make it so he barely feels even a fraction of that.....

Rurik raised an eyebrow as Christine looked under a bed. He sighed and pulled out a small notepad from his pocket, flipping it open to the fifteenth page, "And today's bet was... patterned. Dammit," he muttered to himself and put it away. After a few months of this ridiculousness, he'd felt compelled to make a game out of it.

"You know," he said more clearly to Christine, "Technically we're looking for people, not ghosts..." It wasn't so much that he wanted to find these students, that would just lead to drama, but that he didn't want Christine rustling up any more spirits. For all he knew the next one wouldn't be so... chill.

"Oh. You can just... to a ghost..." He wasn't sure what was more terrifying; the ghost, or his girlfriend who could apparently freeze them solid. He decided it didn't really matter and that at least she was on his side. He poked the ghostsicle curiously and jumped back, startled, as it teetered over and shattered into a million pieces. ". . . neat." He gulped, hoping he hadn't just gotten himself cursed or something. "So... I'm gonna let you choose where we go this time."

Maybe she'd have better luck avoiding the myriad of horrors that apparently infested this hellhole.

After they all teleported in, Rurik just sort of stared at Gilliam for a moment. That... that nose. After he spoke of splitting into two teams, Rurik averted his eyes. Yeah, that was probably for the best. His face looked strained, as if he was fighting something.

"Yep. Teams. Great," he said curtly, and in an unusually energetic moment, he grabbed Christine's arm and dragged her off into the next room.

Once there, he placed his hands on her shoulders, head held low and nearly doubled over as if in great pain. Suddenly he lifted his head, cheeks puffed out and face red. PFFFFFFFFFFFT! "Oh my gosh, did you see his face? I can't... I can't..." He seemed to be struggling to breathe. Finally he sucked in a deep breath. "If he asks, this conversation never happened." His expression immediately flipped back to serious and he let her go.

"Anyway, umm, I guess we should make ourselves look useful." He shrugged and did a lazy about-face, walking in a totally arbitrary direction. He found an old closet with a rickety accordion door. He slid it open and came face to face with an apparition with what looked like blood leaking out of it's eye sockets. "Splitting up was a mistake..." he said in a tense deadpan before slamming the door shut. Oh right -- haunted.

Rurik just smirked from beneath the table where Bak and most others couldn't see him. She'd never dare to shoot him. Even if it wasn't for Clara's presence, he was next to Christine and Bak seemed to have a mental block about shooting near Christine. No matter what, in this room, he was safe. "Yeah, yeah, I'l stay awake for now..." he told Christine, though still content to lounge on the floor in his toppled chair.

That was until Gilliam forced the issue and "helped" him to sit back up

"Ahaha, o-of course, thank you Gilliam. Your concern is touching." Rurik chuckled nervously. His words sounded sincere, unlike almost every other time he actually bothered to speak. Gilliam seemed like just a nice, polite young man, but he soon switched topics to eating someone alive and actually got so carried away that he ate his own fingers. Rurik's face went pale and he swallowed hard. That guy really freaked him out...

He sighed in relief when Clara basically voiced his inner concerns with Alto being a high profile target. The last thing he needed was Christine getting thrown in jail. Or himself.

He wasn't sure he cared about anyone else.

Then the bat came in and his heart sank. Oh good, something else.
