I always assumed that the Celestial Emissary was something created by the Church to allow them to make contact with the stars; the successful end result of Maria's experiments which also produced the Living Failures, things that resemble twisted versions of the Emissary itself. It's name can be taken one of two ways, either its an Emissary from the cosmos or its an Emissary to the cosmos, and I always assumed the latter; we know that the Healing Church made attempts to make contact with the cosmos, which failed as per the description of A Call Beyond, and we know that they were trying to create something in the Research Hall that also failed but which resulted in the patients with enlarged heads and the Living Failures. I think the Celestial Emissary is what they were trying to create and I think they were trying to make contact with the other Great Ones.

The fact that you get the Make Contact gesture from the Orphanage near where you fight the Emissary and the fact you can use this gesture on the Brain, a Great One, kind of supports this.

As for Great Ones not being able to die outside of a dream? How does Kos fit into that?
Edit: Double posted for some reason.
I'm still planning on joining this, I just haven't had any time to work on my CS at all. I have everything put together except their backstory, but I already know what it's going to be and it's fairly simple so it's just a matter of getting it written up.
I'm interested. Are these champions all pulled from the same word, or are they being pulled from anywhere?
This tells us that Gilbert was definitely a Yharnamite (he turned into a beast and immediately recognizes the player as a Hunter), but that he also suffers from something beyond normal blood ministration (he makes reference that "what inflicted [him] was incurable").

By this do you mean that Gilbert was born in Yharnam or that he has become a Yharnamite, which you describe as a person more receptive to blood healing, through receiving blood ministration for his illness? He describes himself as an outsider and talks about how the town gave him hope, so he's likely a foreigner like the player character, though the fact he has a Flamesprayer suggests a former association with the Healing Church of some kind.

I'm working on my character by the way, just... struggling to make a random Yharnam citizen seem interesting. I'm making a (false) paleblood as well.

The issues of size and recoil of a weapon like a stake launcher could be somewhat mitigated if you designed it to be used by the giants that the Healing Church use; they could take a weapon that was designed to be mounted on a building and use it as a handheld weapon fairly easily.

It doesn't seem like a practical weapon at all, for several reasons, but if it did have a use it would probably be to cripple large beasts by impaling them with a huge stake; the intention wouldn't be the pierce straight through them but to have the stake stay in them, something that they can't heal around and which hinders their movement to make them easier to kill.

As I said, a giant stake-launcher might actually have a practical application... though I wonder if anyone would dedicate the resources to design and make the weapon given how narrow the possible uses are.

Honestly, this is the Power Kegs in a nutshell. "If a weapon ain't got kick, it just ain't worth it.'"
@Sleip most of my questions will probably be answered by the OOC when that is up to be honest. Mostly I just want to know more about how the game works and what form it will take, how the abilities work and what kind of things you're looking for, that sort of thing.
I'd like to see more information about how these games work before I commit to anything, but I'm interested.
