I'll add my interest as well, though I don't know what kind of character to make yet. I'm tempted to make an established Hunter, rather than a new (fake) Paleblood, but the disadvantages for doing so don't seem worth it.
Oberon’s attention was drawn towards the hill above their cave; the Goblin party had appeared and the results of his spell were pushed to the back of his mind and ignored as more important matters took precedent.

The group was a little different than it was yesterday; Rags was still there, of course, as was the goat, but the larger Goblin with the oversized sword of human make was definitely a new addition. He didn’t look comfortable holding a weapon clearly not meant for someone his size, like a child playing with his father’s weapon albeit with a lot more lethal intent, and he wore less armour than the other Goblin’s in the group. Even so Oberon could easily see this Goblin being a threat; perhaps he was Rags second in command, or at least his enforcer or his muscle. That Rags brought him along at all must mean he was strong; strong enough to make Rags feel more confident dealing with a magic wielding Demiblin and his three ‘pets’.

It didn’t escape the Sprite’s notice that all of the Goblin’s in Rags group, with the exception of Mahya, seemed to be warriors of some kind; that wasn’t a surprise nor even particularly suspicious given the potential for violence here. It did mean they needed to be cautious however, both because it meant Rags was expecting a fight and because they might be in trouble if one broke out.

Digbie wanted to lead the negotiations and Oberon was content to let him do so, if only because the Goblin leader expected it and because a talking Sprite or Pygmy Drake might freak them out. The Demiblin’s demands from the previous day had been met, in a sense, but not in the way Digbie had expected; the clothing was clearly not sized properly for someone of his stature and the female Goblin walking towards him… Oberon was fairly sure Digbie had asked for someone to become his squire and he was also fairly sure Rags had no idea what that word meant. Instead he’d brought along the kind of Goblin most male Goblin’s would want when they asked for a female to be brought to them.

The misunderstanding would almost be funny if it wasn’t quite so weird.

Frankly, the current situation wasn’t a laughing matter of any kind. Oberon felt uneasy with the way things were right now, with the potential for violence from both sides. Rags and the sword Goblin may have walked down into the camp to conduct the talk with Digbie but that still left the other two to watch over them all from above, something which concerned the Sprite. Torrent was hiding somewhere, ready to throw herself into a fight if she felt the impulse and there wasn’t a good way for any of them to signal her to hold back. Ash herself was a wildcard, the person Oberon had spent the least amount of time with, and he had no idea what she would do here.

Strangely enough the one most likely to cause a fight to break out was that damn goat Rags had ridden in on, a creature which clearly wasn’t tamed despite being leashed. If the Goblin’s released it on Digbie request then who knew what it would do.

For now all Oberon could do was wait and see what happened. His best option was to position himself as best he could to deal with it, whatever it turned out to be. He was still standing by the stream so he began to walk along its length in a way that brought him closer to their cave and the group with the goat; he was already standing separate from the main group of Rags, Digbie, Ash and the sword Goblin and he continued to keep his distance from them now, walking around them rather than towards them. As he did so he used Monster and Magic Analysis on the sword Goblin, just in case he was something more than just a normal Goblin, then used Magic Analysis again to find out his weaknesses.

As he walked he activated Gather Light, keeping his pace slow as he did so that the ability wouldn’t be disrupted. He was low on Mana after his attempts to create the Mana Saw and would need every bit of magic he could muster if this went south.

Manaka sounded quite annoyed at the moment, but Reiko couldn’t find it within herself to care; if she hadn’t make it plainly obvious already she was as fed up with the current situation as their so called leader was, even more so since she was the one who was going to have to face the consequences if they were caught. Manaka would just wash her hands of them and find some other saps to take their place.

With the motivation to not let that happen in mind, Reiko pushed forward and dragged Harumi behind her until they reached Siren’s room; the door was open, which seemed foolish even if this was her own server, and the hacker walked in without hesitation before closing the door behind them. The décor was a lot more feminine than she had expected from seeing the girl on stage, with a lot more pink and frills and stuffed animals and a lot less black, spikes and pentagrams; it was even worse than her own room, more fit for a preteen than someone their own age.

Aside from the recording booth, which was kind of cool but irrelevant right now, the only furnishings of note were the chest and the safe with the latter being the most likely hiding spot for this list they were supposed to find. Even if it didn’t have what they were looking for it might still hold something of interest. “Can you get into that?” Reiko gestured towards the safe with one hand. “I don’t think I can open it without causing too much noise. I’m not great at the more delicate stuff.” Leaving Harumi to deal with that, or not as the case may be, Reiko walked over to the chest and gingerly tried to open the lid.

The has been a lot of godmodding in this RP, something which I've been especially guilty of given the nature of Shigeuchi's power (who'd have thought the ability to move people around and steal their stuff with their consent in an RP would be so troublesome?). Ideally I'd get permission for everything I'm doing, discuss everything beforehand so nobody feels slighted or cheated by the things Shigeuchi does, but doing that through PM's would slow my posting down a lot.

This is why I like RP's to have a Discord, or some other way to make communication easier and faster.

The poorly defined power levels are an issue, especially when it leads to people having different opinions about characters capabilities and what they are able to do against each other. Maybe having everyone start at roughly the same level would have been better, but unless we all want to start over we'll have to just roll with how things are now. Right now, if I had to give my opinion I'd say Nikko/Balthier are at the top, then Shigeuchi, Kuroda (since he has Haki), Caitlyn (no Haki to hurt Kuroda), Dishes (no Haki yet to hurt either of the Logia types) and Lexi at the bottom due to no Haki and no Devil Fruit.
I'm going by the author's own words here, though with translations that can still be iffy. Luffy can still stretch because the Devil Fruit changed his body permanently, sea water can't make him not rubber or make Brooks not a skeleton, but it apparently prevents people with powers that need to be activated from doing so.
Its not contact, its submersion. Ie Rain doesn't do it, reaching into water doesn't do it, if someone sprayed them with a hose it still wouldn't do it.

Can confirm that it is, in fact, submersion. Which is why Devil Fruit users can take showers (though not baths, as those would have them submerged), and keep going while its' raining.

Guys, I looked this this up on the wiki yesterday; I'm confident about this. It's standing water, i.e still water, that has an effect, not running/moving water; shower/rain/having a wave wash over you is fine but any amount of standing water will have an effect. Being 50% submerged is when a Devil Fruit user starts to lose strength and collapse but any amount of standing water will cause them to lose their powers.
Any contact with standing water is enough to cancel out a Devil Fruit power, even a Water Logia. Though water created by her own power wouldn't affect her, riding a wave seems dicey.
The girl behind him slipped away from his elbow, Shigeuchi feeling the fleeting contact against his arm as she moved out of the way of his attack. She couldn’t go far however with his hand still clamped around her wrist, but she twisted around him and moved to his side before lashing out with her free hand; then it was his turn to dodge as his head tilted at an angle to avoid the strike, her hand skimming his cheek. He wasn’t sure how much it would hurt if he just let her hit him, she seemed proficient for her age but you could never tell for sure; she may not have seemed like much of a threat compared to some of the people he had dealt with before, but better to be safe than sorry.

She proved his point a fraction of a second later by stabbing him in the ribs. The girl caught him by surprise him by flipping the knife from her caught hand to her free hand as she pulled back, bringing the weapon around and trying to stick in his side only to be stopped by the Armament Haki coating his skin, the aged pirate managing to coat his torso in it at the last second. “Feisty little bitch aren’t you? Time for you to leave.”

Shigeuchi twisted her arm suddenly, bending her wrist and yanking her around so that he was between her and the railing with her arm over his shoulder. He was planning on throwing her overboard, getting her off his ship and leaving her with a long swim back to shore, when he felt the temperature rise by several degrees all at once and stopped in his tracks. He released Lexi in a hurry, dropping down to the deck as a wave of heat rolled across the deck and keeping his head down as Nikko approached.

Everyone who joined their crew learned pretty quickly to get out of the captain’s way when he was in one of his sour moods and now was one of those times. The crew jumped to action at his orders, climbing to their feet and scurrying as far away as possible from the living sun as they began loading the cannons and opened fire on the approaching marine with anything and everything they could. Shigeuchi meanwhile stayed where he was, climbing slowly to his feet and leaning against the railing in the face of the oncoming inferno, Armament Haki covering his whole body the only thing keeping him from wilting; even then he was sweating.

We’ll have to repair the ship again after this, Shigeuchi thought with a sigh. Even though every inch of their ship was treated against extreme heat, there was always some warping after Nikko let his temper and his temperature get the better of him. If he did as he said and actually vaporised the girl as he said they’d have to replace the part of the deck where she was standing at the very least. Normally Shigeuchi would try and talk some sense into him, try and calm the brat down or deal with the problem himself, but since he was already counting down it was already too late for that.

Before Nikko could reach the end of the countdown however everyone on board the Golden Lion MKII felt Caitlyn’s Haki reach them, several crewmembers dropping to their knees or falling unconscious altogether as it hit them. Even Shigeuchi winced as the pressure, like an invisible eight on his shoulders, hit him.

Before Nikko could blow her away, Shigeuchi grabbed Lexi none-to-gently by the scruff of her neck to hold her in place and turned to face the docks. “Never say I didn’t do anything nice for you lass. If you’re smart, you won’t come after us again.” Spotting Kuroda still back on shore, Shigeuchi reached out with his Devil Fruit and squinted with his one good eye before swapping the two’s position; the assassin would find herself back on the docks and the upstart would find himself back aboard the ship. Hopefully that would be enough to get her captain to back off as well and then they just needed to deal with the marine.

@ladyonyx04 just so I'm clear on what happened, Shigeuchi missed both the grab and the elbow? He had his back to Lexi, so is she stepping around him when she moves to the left?
The results were in and they were informative… if a little confusing. Buying a new skill or ranking up an existing skill with skill points did in fact grant experience, even if it seemed illogical that would be the case. That was good to know, but the numbers involved made less sense; ten per cent for buying a new skill, another ten per cent for buying a new rank but twenty two per cent for ranking up a skill naturally? It was a strange, uneven number that didn’t seem to fit when everything else he had seen was an increment of ten at a time. What was the determining factor for the larger number, the fact he was improving the skill naturally? Or the fact he was increasing the skill from rank two to three, instead of one to two? Or was he also gaining experience for improving other skills in the background, like his new saw blade creation?

Unless he wanted to constantly check his experience after every single thing he did, or find some way to permanently display experience, it was likely he would never know for sure what factored into those numbers. For now it was enough to know buying skills granted experience.

The saw blade hovering above his palm had come together easier than he had anticipated, either because of the increased rank of his Mana Shape skill or because he had grown accustomed to manipulating the basic shape of a Mana Orb. Like his first attempts as Mana Dart it felt fragile and unfinished, although fragile wasn’t exactly the right word; malleable, like it would bend and warp rather than cut and slice. It had also drained more of his Mana so far than he had expected it to, which was strange considering it wasn’t any larger in volume than a Mana Orb; allowances had to be made for the extra time spent shaping the spell however and so far all of his spells other than Mana Slice seemed to cost more than the spell they were born from.

Oberon compressed the saw blade down, like he had done with Mana Dart and Flame Lance in the past, in an attempt to harden the circular shape and make it better able to withstand an impact with something. While doing so he paid particular attention to the serrated edges, flattening then down even further and trying to make then sharp as well as solid. Even when this was done it didn’t feel finished however and if he launched it at something as it was it would be nothing more than a particularly fancy looking Mana Slice.

He tried to set it spinning, using Mana Shape to rotate the saw in place and moving it faster and faster once he felt certain it wouldn’t fly off and harm either himself or someone else by mistake. Saws were meant to spin, to use the rotation and the teeth along its edge to wear away as much as it cut; this spell would be no different. Once it was moving fast enough that the teeth along its edge became a solid blur, a single unbroken circle, Oberon released the spell and launched it at a tree across the stream from the camp.
