Marco had finished taking the pans out of the oven, and had taken all of the hot dogs off of the griddle, and had chopped them up for those that would want them. He tipped the chopped up hot dogs into a paper bowl and then went to set it down on the table they had been using earlier.

"Thanks love... I got lucky that this place believes in real cheese. And real milk. However, the spices and a few other things are sorely lacking. I'm going to have this list filled out by the end of the day. How does a kitchen not have spices beyond salt and pepper." Marco sighed as he brought over his drink and sat down next to Em.

He looked over to Zeke and half-snorted at his comment. "For now, I don't mind the missing shirt. However, after this week, I make no promises." He chuckled as he piled some of the mac and cheese onto his own plate and then started eating.

Willow decided that risotto was her new favorite food, as she took a few more bites of the delicious food. It reminded her of creamy arroz con coco, but creamier and richer, and savory, and earthy with those mushrooms in the dish. The vegetable side dish was also interesting, the long stalky vegetable had been roasted and had this char on it that was delicious.

She heard snippets of the conversation around her and did perk up as the books they found would help, but did hear Barty's comment and blushed a bit. "Ah, I wasn't thinking when I said that. But I am glad to hear that those books will help, though I really don't want to read the journal alone. Nearly passing out once because of it was enough, thank you very much. Though I hope the charms will help. I really don't want to see those eyes again." Willow shuddered at the memory of the eyes all over the library.

Willow finally cut into the wellington and took a bite... and froze. Something was wrong. The meat was unlike anything she had tasted before in her life, lean, gamey, much like what she was use to in the jungle. However she felt like she was wrapped up in chains, frozen, constricting her movements and binding her in place. She had felt this once before in her life, just once.

As soon as it came on, it was gone, and Willow could move again and she nearly jolted from her seat. "W...what is that made out of?" There was the trace of fear on her face to those closest to her, as she dared not eat another bite of the strange meat. Everything else around her was purged from her mind as she recovered from that brief moment.

Constance could tell that the bait had been taken, as she caught out of the corner of her eyes that George was mouthing something to Tony. She took a long sip of her tea at that point, and then picked at her salad a bit more. As hungry as she was, the tension in the room was mounting more at that point and she could tell that things were getting close to snapping, especially when Elizabeth left the room.

She did have to wonder if Samuel was getting anything good out of Jeanne, but she would have to ask about that later, when they could be alone. For the moment, she kept her ears out, trying to see if there was anything else she could pick up on. It seemed the pressure on Richard wasn't resulting in anything more than him being either sad or concerned, which wasn't proof of him knowing the truth either way.

It was bugging her that it seemed there was truly no way to leave the island for any of them, and no way to communicate off the island. No doctors able to come, no police officers, nothing. She already knew that, but it was bugging her more and more. Blackmail, murder, family secrets? Was there anything else going on that they didn't know about? Maybe Agatha wasn't sick, maybe someone had poisoned her.

She picked up her tea again and took another long sip. "Would you like my help later?" She looked at Tony, hoping he would understand what she was offering to help him with.

Constance nibbled on her food as she swore she could feel the tension in the air thicken, especially as the conversations turned towards various topics too close at hand to Renee and Miguel. Yes, the group of them were the only ones to know about him, besides the murderer, but that couldn't last forever. Just because the weather was sour didn't mean the groundskeeper wouldn't eventually notice the twice upturned dirt. Had they really covered him up? What if his finger was poking out? Constance hadn't been watching really, she couldn't. It had made her panic and feel ill.

At that memory, she found herself putting her fork down again, and only half listening to everything in the room, until Tony spoke. "You know, I don't believe I've met Agatha either, or have seen her. She was missing last night, I believe. Wasn't she suppose to be sitting next to you? Maybe it would do well for someone to check on her, maybe you? I know you're a surgeon, but it's not like they could get a doctor out here in this weather."

Constance did hope that she could help get at least Tony in to see Agatha, even if she couldn't. She did look up as Millicent spoke and blinked a bit. It seemed that she was trying to bait him, then and there? Was that such a good idea to do in front of all the other La Lune's? She just hoped Millicent knew what she was doing... or that any of them to be honest.

Willow was feeling amazing after her conversation with Cassie, and honestly knowing that they were friends for real now. She still felt a bit off considering her visions, but thankfully nothing had happened since the library. She still had to talk to Connie, but she figured she could do that when they went to head to bed. She didn't really want to bother her over dinner with the tale of why she needed her to look at an egg for her every morning.

She walked into the Feasting Hall and looked around for somewhere to sit. She could hear the conversations going on, and paused as she heard someone talking about a head. A real human head. Willow found that a bit odd that people were talking about it as such an oddity, but then again usually heads were attached to people. She would have to find out more about this mysterious head later, because for the moment, she was hungry.

She spotted Cal and Cassie and waved, and then took the open seat next to Cassie and smiled. "Hello Cassie, hello Cal~ I hope you're both having a pleasant evening." She settled in and pet Luna gently and let her scoot forward a bit to read the menu for the night.

It was here that she felt a bit out of her depths. Meat wellington? Risotto? Frisée? What did any of those mean? She fidgeted for a bit as she looked over the menu a bit more, and then squeaked a bit as a little bit of each appeared on her plate, as if it knew she wished to try each before committing to more. She then saw others whispering to their goblets and leaned over and asked for chicha and watched as the glass filled up with the thick rice and milk beverage. She picked it up and took a long sip before signing. A familiar taste at last.

"So, have we made anymore headway on our mystery yet?" She gently picked up a fork and stabbed into the salad and took a bite. She melted a bit at the taste, letting it all melt into her mouth. If this was what food was like outside of her forests, she really could grow to love it.

Constance noticed that Sam and Jeanne went off to sit together and sighed to herself at that point. She had seen how she had reacted and figured it might be best to let them talk. "I feel like we should let Sam talk to Jeanne... it seemed that she lit up when he entered the room. I think we'd be intruding. Let's sit and eat first and then talk to her." She gently rubbed his arm softly, knowing he probably was a bit disappointed to not get to talk to Jeanne but well, maybe Same might get something out of her that they could not.

She went to sit down, and set her salad and tea down in front of her, and relaxed a bit as she took her seat. Sure, there was a lot going on, and they probably should talk to some of the other La Lunes, but she was feeling really hungry. She doubted she'd be subtle when talking to any of them at this point, given how she knew she was when she was hangry as the children called it.

She sipped her tea and looked at Tony and offered him a small smile. They would have time to figure it out. They had to. Their very lives could depend on it.

The session with her advisor had gone… alright. Willow still had so many burning questions she wanted answered, but she had the feeling that Cal wanted to talk to their advisor more. That or their advisor really had nothing more to offer her.

Willow rubbed at her temple a bit, thinking about a few things and realized what she really wanted to do was talk to Cassie. The other woman had checked in on her before Cal had scooped her up and taken her away. She hadn’t even gotten to properly answer her before that, and Willow did feel a bit bad about that, and a few other things. It wasn’t hard to see that Cassie was harboring feelings for their dragon covenmate, and those feelings might get her in trouble.

Willow sighed as she turned to Luna. ”Have you any idea where she might be?” The moth just turned towards the courtyard where the sound of something hitting the tree was heard. She could see the vague shape of Cassie, and smiled. ”Thank you!” She took off for the courtyard, and waved as she entered it.

”Cassie! Do you have a moment?”

Cassie had just finished up her cast, taking a moment to savor in the fact she did something that powerful. There was a thrill there, both enthralling and terrifying.

Just as she was about to try something more, she heard someone call out to her. A familiar voice and, in turning towards it, a familiar shape. Willow. She hadn’t seen her since Cal had carried her off from the library, leaving Cassie to her own devices. There was still some uncertain tension there. Cassie remembered being dismissed at the new student soiree when she had just wanted to help and get to know Willow. This, on top of the clear something going on with her and Cal.

Still, Cassie waved in return, then, remembering that Willow would not see that, put her hand down. ”Willow! How are you feeling?

”I’m doing a bit better now since meeting with Professor Zephyrine, but still a bit mush. I am sorry about earlier, just… that book overwhelmed me. It was his journal. And I think he went a little crazy at the end. But, I have some new charms, which is always a plus. How did the meeting with your advisor go? Willow smiled at Cassie and relaxed a bit, and then waved to the other person there, before giving Cassie all her attention again.

Cassie shrugged, ”I don’t know, honestly. Our advisor went on vacation and left us some things to do to practice. Jake and I kind of went off to do our own thing. Thus, the destroyed tree.” Cassie looked over to the tree that was still slowly dissolving from the acid.

”I’m a little bummed because I wanted to learn how to control my magic better, but at least it’s something. And I can always talk to Professor Mikkail, I’m sure. And there was Professor Sariel at the start when we had to get the key from the fish who said I could talk to her. I’m sorry, I am rambling. I’m glad you’re feeling better and that Cal got you to help quickly.”

”Cassie, please never apologize to me for rambling, ok? I do it sometimes as well. Especially if overtaken by a vision. I am sorry to hear about your advisor. I’m sure Professor Mikkail wouldn’t mind helping you when he can. Though,” she looked over at the tree that was dissolving from the acid, ”It seems you’re making strides yourself.” Willow chuckled softly at that and looked at her.

”I did want to ask if you were alright after last night. I would have asked then, but… vision triggered. Willow sighed as she hung her head a bit, feeling awful. She did want to be friendly with Cassie, but was sure she had started off on the wrong foot.

Cassie had to admit she felt a little thrilled to have her work recognized. Then she remembered the other night in the library, where she had wanted to impress Cal and felt..ignored? And how him and Nick were acting like she had interrupted something. How Cal wanted her to not be there in that moment. Only to end up swooping in and being the hero Willow needed. Cassie only wanted to show she was meant to be there. She did what she was asked. So why did she feel so bad?

”I mean, you weren’t in the best state to be checking in with others so you’re easily forgiven for that. There was a moment, however briefly, when I had found all of the research Cal asked for. I even found something more extensive and wanted to share. But he seemed so….irritated. And he was with Nick, and Nick makes my skin crawl, kinda. Does that make sense? Then you needed help, don’t get me wrong, I am glad you are good, but again, I felt like I was a nuisance when all I wanted to do was help.”

”They have… an interesting relationship. Nick and his brother, well, I get the feeling they’ve been through a lot.” There was no way Willow was going to tell Cassie what she knew about the brothers, but she couldn’t fault Cassie for feeling the way she did about Nick. He wasn’t really warm and welcoming. ”And Cal did carry me off before I could let you know how I was doing, and I am sorry for that.” Willow was not sure how to explain that to Cassie either, what their relationship was. Protective was one word for it, but Willow was afraid if she said that, Cassie would be hurt more.

”If it is any comfort, Cassie, I do not think you are a nuisance. I want to be friends with you. You are very kind, and I think much like me, learning how the world works. I know it started awkwardly, but do you think we can be friends?”

”I mean, I kinda thought we were friends this entire time,” she said warmly, to show she had no ill will. ”That’s why I am glad we got to be in the same Coven. I had someone I connected with. I’m new here and, admittedly, don’t know much about how all of this works. Not just the magic parts, but relationships in general. I was homeschooled by very Conservative Christian parents who never let me leave the house unless it was with them and then it was only to go to some other rich adult’s home so they could foist me on their irritating and gross son. I think my parents were afraid of me. So I wanted to learn how to control my magic, moreso for me than them, because it kind of scares me too. So when I was dismissed by Cal and Nick, and to a lesser extent you, it hurt more than maybe it should.”

”Oh.” Willow blushed deeply at that. ”Clearly, I am also bad with relationships. I… I mean I was raised in the rainforest, by my Tia. She was the only person around. I grew up with monkeys, birds, lizards, snakes, and my visions. So, I guess, I didn’t realize that friendship was that easy. And also that hard. But… we’re here now. And we’re friends. And I’m sorry about your parents. They are missing out by not knowing you, the real you. I will do my best not to dismiss you again.”

Cassie felt herself tear up, but held firm. She would not lose it, not now. ”I mean that sounds awesome! I love animals!” She did ignore the bit about her parents. She wondered what they were doing right now? Did they call the police to come find her? Did they even care at this point? ”We’ll need to do all the things friends do then. Like I need to introduce you to some critical media like romantic comedies. And have you ever had a mani-pedi?”

”I’ve never heard of a mani-pedi. What is that?” Willow tilted her head curiously.

Cassie gasped. ”Oh my goddess, it’s like…one of the best things. My mom and I actually went often and it was…well I liked the process. It’s basically getting your fingernails and toenails done. They buff and scrape and clean and it feels soooooooo good after. You can even get color on your nails! I doubt the school will let us leave to do it, but maybe we can conjure some home stuff to do them ourselves in our magic bedrooms!”

Willow’s grin grew wider as she could hear Cassie’s excitement in her voice. ”I think that would be lovely. Probably have to be in our bedroom, but as you said, they are magic.” She giggled softly.

”I mean it spawned a lot of stuff I asked for, it’s so cool! This school is awesome. I’m happy I was able to come.” She left the other part unsaid. How, if she hadn’t, she would be locked up like some fairy tale princess. But there would be no Prince Charming to come save her. She’d likely die in that room.

”So am I.”

Marco watched as Emily headed off, waving to her lovingly as she did so. He had been thankful for her company, as it had made cleaning up the breakfast mess and taking care of some of the cleaning pretty easy. However, he was pissed at the prospect of having to go without proper plates for a few more meals, as well as having to replace a few other pieces of proper cookware. Had no one done a real look around or inventory of the place before they arrived, or was it expected to be all on them? Typical. Make the 'delinquents' do all the dirty work.

He hated that he still stung from that remark. In the eyes of the law he was. To everyone that didn't really knew him, he was. But god, it hurt. His father had looked so... broken when he had posted bail for Marco, having hoped that being in Canada would have been better than being in the States.

He shook his head as he looked around the kitchen and then started to look through the cabinets, fridges, and storage. He was happy to find a lot of shelf stable things, pasta, beans, ect... and some stuff in the fridge. There was enough there to make homemade mac and cheese, so that was lunch settled. He'd get that started up before diving into cleaning up more of the area. What did make him sad was the lack of spices. What was it with white people and spices! Tons of salt and pepper, but nothing else. Where was the cumin? The cayenne? Where was the goddamn red pepper flakes! No spice at all. What a goddamn shame. He was going to have to make gumbo another night.

He walked over to where the list was and started furiously putting down all the spices he wanted and needed to make any sort of proper meal. He would make do for the day, but it was a shame that everything was going to be so bland unless he added Tabasco sauce to everything. He soon finished adding spices, and a few other food items he knew he wanted to the list and turned back to the kitchen. It was time to start up lunch, and keep on cleaning.

Marco had been glad that Em was helping him with cleaning up. Sure, the plates they had been eating on were paper and were going to go in the trash, but all the utensils, pans, and the flat top still needed to be cleaned. Not to mention the piles of those awful plastic plates and bowls that were going to be for use for the camp that clearly hadn’t been cleaned up after being hauled up in whatever vehicle Dobbs drove.

”So, what’s your assessment on the three we don’t know so far? Aster told me his earlier, and well… you know how he is. I want your opinion, the one I really trust.” He looked over to Em, offering her a smile as they both stood there with their elbows in soapy water.

Em hummed thinking about the question. “Well, I only have an opinion on two of them so far. First, Demi, he seems to be head over heels for the other guy, Zeke right. He was diligent about taking notes and asking questions during the training on the radio. I was impressed. He is a bit of a joker. Probably not the most serious person in the lot, that’s for sure. Seems harmless.” She shrugged slightly at the last part of her assessment about Demi. “Nancy, I like her. She’s got a bit of a dark humor going. Willing to do some dumb and dangerous things, I think. Though she seems a bit fragile about other things. Definitely do not talk to her about sex. She’s very anti the whole thing. She wants nothing to do with it, which I guess more power to her. But she seems attached as hell to her brother. They got caught with a B&E to make a music video.”

”I knew asking you would be a better result. Aster couldn’t even get Nancy’s name right. Love him, but…” Marco sighed as he thought for a moment. ”Aster did say he helped get Demi and Zeke together, and I had noticed that Demi is very… kinky. As for Nancy, I’ll keep what you said in mind. No sex talk around her. I did notice that with breakfast. Poor girl. I’ll try to have some snacks ready in case she gets hungry.”

Marco fished out some utensils and set them to the side and thought. ”You think we can survive a whole week before everyone else gets here?”

Em snorted at the comment about Aster. That guy was as self centered as they came. But he was nice to Marco, which was the only reason she had ever given him a chance. If he had been rude to Marco, especially if he had been even the slightest bit racist she would have decked him.

“At least Aster is predictable,” she said with a slight shrug. “Oh, is he? I noticed the hanky, but you know the code better than me. Is he into water sports?” Em did not like water sports herself. That was definitely not one of her kinks. She was happy to share Marco, and happy with their little things, but that one was gross. Unhygienic.

“As for surviving the week, probably. I don’t think Dobbs was serious. I think he was just telling us an old story. I don’t believe in ghosts. As for us as a group, I think tonight will be the judge of it. If we can survive tonight we’ll be fine.”

”Oh, he’s not into that. Thank goodness. Neither am I, for the record, Em. But apparently, he’s as good as hiding some things as I am~” Marco leaned over to whisper to her and then nipped her ear teasingly.

”Ah, I more meant do you think that the six of us will get along. I don’t believe in the ghost stories either. Though I’m pretty sure grammy would be upset to hear that. She believed in all that hoodoo voodoo stuff. Dad didn’t have the patience for it, so we didn’t keep any of the stuff she sent. Of course she wasn’t a huge fan of me… y’know the whole out of wedlock thing.” Marco rolled his eyes a bit at that as he fished out the spatula he had been using and set it aside.

Em giggled a little at the ear nip, leaning into Marco. She wrinkled her nose at the mention of Marco’s gran. ”Her loss,” she sniffed. “Oh, I think we should be fine. The camp is big enough that if we need space from each other we can. It is only a week anyway.” She rinsed off her hands from the soapy water and started pulling down the plastic plates that needed attention. She carefully inspected them. “Are we sure these aren’t a lost cause? This feels kind of gross and sticky.” She held the plate out to Marco.

Marco picked up the plate and then narrowed his eyes a bit. He ran his hand over them and frowned. ”...Fuck.” He knew the feeling well. Growing up poor and using things for eons until they fell apart had taught him this feeling well. ”They’re shot. We need to put them on the list, because there is no way we’re feeding the kids on these once they get here. And no way there’s a budget for paper plates for that long.”

“I’ll add it to the list.” She gave Marco a quick kiss on his cheek and went back into the dining area. As she walked she wiped her hands off on her pants so they were dry. At the table she took the paper and pen she had left on the table and wrote down “plates and -”

“Wait, how’s the flatware? Is it sticky too? Should I add it to the list?” She hollered over her shoulder into the kitchen.

”The flatware was fine. They apparently did buy that in metal… but anything plastic I would probably throw out. Ugh…” Marco went to check on the cooking utensils. He pulled out some plastic spatulas as well as some whisks and tossed them in the bins.

”Please add cooking utensils to the list. Fucking hell… too much of this shit was plastic.” Marco groaned as he finished chucking the wasted things in the bins.

“Got it!” She wrote down several specific things she knew Marco liked to have in his kitchen, and then added a generic ‘cookware’ line. After that she rejoined Marco back in the kitchen.

“That bad?” She went over to him and wrapped her arms around him, and rubbed him gently. “Are you good to make it through the day at least?”

”There are enough metal tools for just me, but if there are a few of us cooking, there’s going to need to be more. I just… ugh… there are no good whisks. I might have to wait to make gumbo. Might do that mac and cheese, if there’s good cheese in there. Ugh.” Marco nuzzled in close and kissed her on top of her head.

“You'll figure it out.” Em smiled, pressing into the nuzzle and kiss. “You're a brilliant chef. I'm sure whatever you make will be amazing even if you have to use a fork to wisk.” She pulled back from the embrace and stood up taller to kiss him.

“Now, chef, what's next, or should I call you Aphrodite?” The smile on her face was that of the cat with the canary.

”Mmmm call me that when we’re alone~” He grinned and tugged her in close and kissed her back lovingly and lifted her up a bit and put her on the counter. ”For now, I think I should try to clean more of the pots and pans before lunch. Care to help me or do you want to run off?”

“Which one? Or both?” And we are currently alone.” Em grinned, her tone teasing. “I can stay a bit longer. But I don't wanna put off clearing some of those trails too long. It'll be tough work.” On the counter she kicked her feet a little before wrapping them around Marco.

”Aphrodite, my love~ And thank you. Pots and pans are no joke.” He chuckled as he leaned in to kiss her once more. He was of two minds, one telling him to just sneak in some alone time with his beloved before that night, but the other reminded him that the kitchen probably really hadn’t been cleaned in so long, so, that one won out. ”Does mean we’ll have to let go of one another and go back to cleaning.”

Em nodded, she was happy to call him Aphrodite if that made him happy. She did stick out her lower lip in disappointment at having to let go and continue cleaning. She kissed him one more time, lingering, and biting his lip gently. “Alright, very well.”

He shivered a bit as she bit his lip, almost changing his mind but once more remembering that this camp had last been used well before he had been born. He nuzzled Em, and then gently helped her off the counter. ”So do you want to clean, or do you want to collect?”

She wrinkled her nose. “Collect.” Cleaning was fine, but the elbow grease this place needed was more than she wanted to do. She wanted to save that energy for the work outside.

Marco nodded and then went to start filling up the sink once more with clean soapy water. ”Alright then. Sounds good to me. Thank you love.”

“Of course.” She hopped off the counter and started gathering things for Marco to wash.

Constance took the tape recorder and then held it in her hand. It was probably a good idea to record any conversations they had with any of the La Lunes, and maybe any others, and she did have to mentally applaud Sam for that. She was still a bit miffed that he might have been implying some things, but it did seem that the air had been cleared a bit, and that he understood the text more. Of course not all the secrets were shared, as there was no way in hell Constance was going to spill her secret, and it seemed that no one else was going to do the same.

"I'm only suspicious because it seemed you knew about Miguel before the rest of us knew a thing. That was all. Thank you for the tape recorder." Constance tucked her recorder into her purse and then picked it up, hoping it wasn't obvious she had the little device on her.

"Mmmm lunch sounds really good." Constance cuddled in close to Tony as they headed to the dining hall. Once there she looked over the food, and then to see that Jeanne perked up when Sam came in after them. Maybe it was a good idea to have him with them when they went to talk to her. She looked over the lunch offerings, deciding on the salad Nicoise and some tea. She really hoped that they made a good cuppa, she could really use that after the day they were having.
