No offense intended. But there's a sweet spot on the sliding scale of realism, and most of the interest checks I usually see skew too far to the realism end for me.

Can't describe how quickly I go from excited to sad when a mecha premise turns out to be realism wankery.

You don't know Jamie. Riders blade has sprung from a guild that has hurt her members in the past. She would find a way to get information on them. What the bloody hell do you think she was doing for two months before the games?

Time for action doesn't really equal omniscience, which is what a lot of this discussion implies more than a little. Like I was saying, and Burthstone was chiming in on, time doesn't mean anything if information is hard to come by to begin with. Moreover,

Krayzikk wasn't here for that, calling him out on past IC events might be a touch unfair.

There's this. If there's something about the group in question that makes it perfectly easy to find information about them, I happily take it back. But someone who has been here far longer than me has been raising objections, and I'm only commenting on the impression I've gotten from this discussion to begin with.

(Danke, Lugu, by the way)
Yeah, but you said it yourself; the key is smoothness. Not only is repetitive uses of timeskips not smooth (especially in a written medium, versus a visual one), the use of jump cuts to show everything that isn't relevant to;

-Classes
-Missions
-Combat

Is most definitely not smooth. It'd be like if every quiet scene in the show was handled via a flashback. Actually, that's not even what it'd be like; that's what it is.
Tbh, a timeskip straight after a set of missions really kills character interaction.

They need a breath of fresh air, some acclimatisation back at the Academy, and more chances of chardev/forming char dynamics with others.

Wasn't refuting, was adding on.

Ohhhh. I'm sorry, I misunderstood.
.... Yes? That doesn't really refute anything I said, though. Someone good at gathering information does generally know how to hide their own, but it doesn't make finding dirt on someone else, particularly a mid-sized unlawful group, any easier.
these timeskips are gonna give me whiplash i swear
I mean frankly, gathering intelligence on an opposing group is pretty hard when they're not a recognized establishment. Especially if the target isn't large. Foreign government? Easy. Opposing political party? Harder. Small to medium group of bad guys? Exceptionally difficult.

So 'what she can' isn't necessarily much.
"If you're going to stand there, hand me the torque wrench on the barrel." Evangeline didn't actually look away from her work, but after a few minutes, she did hold out a hand to accept the wrench. The other was busy checking for breaches in the sheathing for the primary power cables, after removing the invasive regulation device. It was fortunate the Titan was off and staying that way, because the results otherwise wouldn't be pretty. Lots of sparks. Lots of fires. Very, very singed mechanic. Not fun times. "C'mon, make yourself useful."

"Unless you want me to divide my attention, then we can take our chances the next time I fire her up."
