No offense intended. But there's a sweet spot on the sliding scale of realism, and most of the interest checks I usually see skew too far to the realism end for me.

Can't describe how quickly I go from excited to sad when a mecha premise turns out to be realism wankery.

Also going to mention @Plank Sinatra here too.

There was an Magic Council Arc were a few of the Council members were abused their positions and tried to secretly . It's from this event that the Council is going through a bit of a reconstruction.

Summary:
On August 20, X892:
Phoenix Wing decided to fight against those members that led to the other members (not corrupt) to fight as well. So it was basically every person (Council members and rune knights) against the guild. The results were the defeat and arrest of those corrupt members, but the Magic Council doesn't have a good public view as they once did.

November 8th, X892:
The premiered their new official Council members and stayed around Crocus in hopes to improve the Council's public opinions. As seen since there were some dark wizards attacks that occurred during the games, but were handled and stopped by guild wizard, Council members, rune knights, and city guards. Taking the opportunity of the games attracting wizards, the Council also decided to try and offer any wizards the chance to join the Council as knights and help improve its name.

February xth, X893: (if the search option was up I would know x)
There are some wizards that have joined the Council. Currently doing certain given tasks/jobs/missions based on what they would specialize in with their magic.

Hopefully that helps gives you some idea of how the Council is at the moment. For now, I wouldn't mind making up a simple job for your characters to do. But I should probably mention that with the Council, instead of the job board, I might just create some missions for your characters. But I say that as a possibility. At the moment, I feel like creating a mission that isn't too relevant to some future plot. I think it might be good to just have some fun and do a mission that is like a short one off adventure so we can get use to playing our characters again. So if you want to have some fun during this time for a little character developments/interactions, go for it!

Hopefully that helps answer your question. But if you curious about anything else, I don't mind trying to answer them.

Sorry for the delay, work was pretty busy this week.

I talked with @Plank Sinatra, and if you were willing to put together something like that for us that would be perfect. Cyare and Angel wouldn't be likely to seek out anything to do with a guild, but some contract type work would be something they'd take on. Would be a good way to get them back into play.
"I think we are the rough customers."

The reformed(?) delinquent commented a little dryly, but glancing down the street anyway. Yesterday had him a little on edge. A fight you could see coming was one thing, but...

Well, whatever controlled the DRUs wasn't playing by the usual rules. Or by human ones. He and Kimiko weren't either, not anymore, but he didn't know how to replicate that. Daisuke'd tried, on the way to work. He'd tried to tap into that feeling, summon Benkei. He wasn't sure how. If he didn't know how he didn't know if he'd be able to do it again. And that made the prospect of another fight very, very uncertain.

Knuckledusters weren't gonna do much, but he had 'em in his bag anyway.

"But you're right. Let's head inside." He glanced over to Kazou and shrugged a little. "More than fifty of 'em, I'd bet. Wasn't pretty. I'd tell you how we won, but... I don't think you'd buy it."

"DRU's fine. Let's say we counter-whammied whatever whammied him."
Jumpercable.

That poor team has had three out of four members for so long.
"I am not a grouch. I trust when it's reasonable."

The protest came with a halfhearted glare as Dana took up a position opposite her, and Victoria resumed her assault upon the bag. Not nearly so hard, focusing more on speed than force, but she could still see the teacher regarding the previous bag with consternation. It was just out of the corner of her eyes, but she watched him push experimentally on it and listen to the creaking with a growing frown. The sort of frown that spoke of memos and emails to be exchanged later about poor maintenance, confused replies, and eventually a repaired punching bag. That would probably be the end of it.

With any luck, at least. She didn't really want to have to pay to fix it.

She didn't really agree with Dana's weirdness test, but nothing was going to dissuade her. The girl thrived on fights and competition. The prospects this Slayer represented excited her, probably to no end. The bag rocked a little harder. The teacher was moving off, so she didn't mind hitting a little harder again. She paused for a moment, though, when she saw Dana start to climb up in. Eyebrow raising the whole time she observed the Japanese girl climb and situate herself atop the bag, the effect clear when a test punch barely moved it.

Her eyebrows arched a few degrees more, and she concluded that this was a challenge. Her next few punches were a little harder, but still didn't move the bag much. It swayed to and fro a tad, but not nearly as much as she wanted. So she drew in a deep breath, settled her stance, and cut loose. The first punch sent it swaying away, the second further, and the third further still. It only took a few blows to settle into the pattern, trying to see if she could shake her friend off. Much like a rodeo bull.

The mention of having lunch with the Slayer made her eyes narrow yet again, and glare upwards.

"Yes, that is the word. When did you decide on this plan?"

Hmmm...

(@Krayzikk get in here and help me aaaaaaaaaaaargh)

We'll get back to you in a bit!

It almost worked

Anyway, they probably wouldn't seek out a guild. The plan was to eventually go about starting one, back when we actually had a group, but that's obviously nixed. Them going about things on their own just ties back into the issue of not knowing what's going on, even if it might me the most likely thing for them to do.

What's the deal with the Magic Council?
@Plank Sinatragreat thank you! I'll get that started then ^.^

Much appreciated, I was just about to poke my head in and ask for suggestions. Shoutout to Plank for being more on top of it than I.
The doggo in question still wasn't quite trustworthy. Not to Daisuke. He didn't fear DRU, not in the slightest, but whatever Kimiko did to sway it? He wasn't sure it wouldn't wear off. It had only been a day, after all, and he wanted to be sure it wasn't gonna turn murder-y again. One of those pizzas took off a man's arm, he wasn't too keen on seeing what it might do to someone's back. He could deal with it if it happened but only if he was ready. Hence, he still didn't quite trust DRU.

Still, the little guy was kinda cute. In a way.

And Kimiko certainly liked him. His one line was a lot less scary when there were pink hearts in his eyes. And seeing Kimiko plop down on his head for a ride sparked up a certain empathy. The little guy would do his duty like a good doggo. Kimiko was even talking about teaching him to fetch fries, which would certainly be interesting. He wasn't sure his boss'd like taking an order from a robot, especially a delivery one at that, but it'd probably work. He'd just need to explain it was a regular.

Daisuke swung a leg over and off the bike to dismount and flip down the kickstand, parking it next to the detective's office door. He gave a little wave to DRU, as odd as it seemed, and swiveled to look at Kazou.

"She's got a point. Anyway, this is DRU. There were about... Sixty of them, yesterday. Maybe a couple more."
Held back by those who possess souls still weighed down by gravity. No more.

(Kinda wanted to come back for a while, just hadn't figured out who would/how.)

(Still working on part B.)
(Or friendly to people whose friends all dropped a year ago and now want to make a return)

(hello friendos)

Preeeeeeetty much.

Third time's the charm, though.
I think that might be mine...

It was a little fuzzy, but that stain was near where he remembered fighting. But he also didn't remember losing that much blood. Pepsi, maybe? There was evidence of fighting all over the square, even though the cop had done a good job cleaning up. It was little shit that you could see if you'd been there. New cracks where improvised mortars had hit. Damaged walls where pizzas had overshot their target. There was a collection of dents in concrete like craters, the spots robots had been hammered into the pavement by Daisuke's hand... Or, his.

I am thou, thou art me, all that bullshit.

The scene started to get his blood pumping again, like a lingering rush. Memories so fresh they were happening all over again.

His reverie got interrupted when his head was pulled up, and his passenger shifted on his back. He continued the motion, craning his head far enough back to meet her gaze. The angle just barely worked, any less and he wouldn't have seen her, any more and... Well, he wouldn't have seen her. Green met brown and the delinquent's eyebrows arched up a little at the atlas comment, and even more at the 'main four (directions)'.

Such a strange girl.

Still, she wasn't wrong. He'd figured out an alternate route before they stopped, but he'd have just gone right through. Tape didn't block the sidewalk that great. And it was tape. He'd be through and away before the cops even caught on. Buuuut... Well, a quick glance at the other bike made him reconsider. New guy looked like he wanted to die, and Hitomi was crazy as usual. That bike was not sized for her. So he pushed off, picking up speed and heading south a block to circle around and keep heading for Sasori's office.

Kimiko's shift was actually pretty helpful, even if he neck didn't appreciate it. Moviin' her center of gravity up helped him balance the back, settled her mass center on his shoulders. He leaned forward a liiiittle more, putting on a little more speed to compensate for the detour. He wanted to open right up, hit top speed and get there in a minute. Making Kimiko hang on tighter seemed like a pretty funny idea.

But again. Other bike.

Speaking of, he caught Hitomi's eyes pointed their way and met them with a little eye roll. If Kimiko was a strange girl, she was bizarre. The people he chose to surround himself with. She seemed to think a little better of Plan A, though Plan B was to eye him. The absurdity was worth a chuckle.

"We're almost there, kids. Kazou, try not to freak. Not what I feel like handling today."
