I'm going to have to take a break for awhile. One of my dogs just passed; we went to bed together like we always do and when I woke up she was gone. I feel awful right now.

Had a fun birthday. Had some alligator tail for dinner, overall was pretty good for a place I hadn't been to before. Will start getting back into the groove of things soon.

So am I just trying the character from last time again?

If you want to. I'm gonna be playing Karen again, so.

Welcome to Rushford, Ohio. Population: 1,357 and plummeting.

It has been roughly a week since the Michigan-Ohio border blockade imposed by the Ohio State Police to halt all travel between the states had collapsed, and only mere days since the village of Rushford had fallen to the walking dead.

In a desperate attempt to flee the pandemic, panicked civilians from Michigan and the nearby city of Toledo would ultimately bring forth Rushford's collapse into anarchy. The few roads in and out of the village were completely blocked off by an influx traffic whilst local mom and pop businesses were broke into and looted by those looking to survive the coming apocalypse. Completely unprepared for the chaos, the three officer force of the local RPD was quickly overwhelmed with calls for help and, in turn, were unable to react in a timely manner as the outbreak reached critical mass within the small village.

No one knows who fired the first shot, but by then, the end of the world had truly begun.

Now, a week later into the apocalypse, a small group of survivors sheltered in a diner have been hearing strange broadcasts on the local radio about an old summer camp on the other side of the Maumee River that is said to be zombie-free. Eager to find shelter and safety from the dead, the group is ready to leave for greener pastures, but will they be able to escape Rushford and cross the river with their lives before then?

Hello, if you're reading this, welcome to Still Not Bitten. This roleplay is part of a shared universe created by @Inkarnate and I, taking place in a fictional village inspired by Midwestern American influences some miles outside the city of Toledo, Ohio. At the start of the roleplay the infected will be no more than those you'd see in The Walking Dead, but as the roleplay progresses and the weeks turn into months, they will gradually mutate into other "special zombies". And yes; zombie culture does exist in this setting of ours.

As I like my zombie stories to be semi-realistic (at least as far as they can be; it's about the dead walking around and eating people after all), I do put in place certain bans and am cautious about certain things. More below:

Current Hard Bans: Anything to do with military (active duty, military spouse, retired veteran, etc). Any "badasses" with souped up weapons or running around with katanas or similar "cool, fun" weapons.

Potentially Avoid: Anyone with police, hunter archetype or general firearm-related background. These are allowed, but are often too easily abused and will be looked with more scrutiny than other sheets.

Additionally, since this is based in a fictional village, here are some places of note in Rushford and the surrounding area. More will be added should they become relevant to the roleplay.

Setting details aside, this roleplay will require at least a post roughly a week, give or take a few days for real life issues. These posts have no set minimum as to how many paragraphs you must write, but longer and high quality posts are definitely preferred over short bursts. Other than that; have fun, thanks for reading and let me know if you have any questions or concerns that I might be able to answer.

Will. Asélie repeated in her head, making a mental note for later.

By then, more and more kids had begun to realize the temperature change, each with own thoughts and opinions on the matter. What they had to say, however, wasn't of much interest to Asélie, who was more intrigued by Will. It had only been a few years since they had moved to Everbrook, but even she was highly aware of the weirdo that Will was. Being an anti-social dork and having an obsession with the supernatural often painted a target on his back, and though Asélie wasn't going to mug Will for his lunch money like the jocks did, she found his hobbies amusing.

After all, ghosts and the like were purely fictional—just something to sell Halloween costumes in October or make for cheap laughs at someone else's horror. By the looks of it, however, not many seemed to agree with her, instead being either highly interested or terrified of what could be down the staircase.

"Look, Will, I highly doubt that you're going to find some spooky ghost hiding in the basement," Asélie asked, as a girl, one she didn't quite know, knocked on the door. "But I figured someone like you would at least know that the first ones to investigate are always the first to go in the movies. Which speaking of movies, why don't we all go see the one Danny mentioned instead? I'd rather not hang around an old library for longer than I need to on the first day of summer."

Though Asélie hoped everyone would accept her offer (seeing movies by yourself was a boring and sad experience), a part of her was certain that some of them wouldn't. Will seemed keen on finding his next big supernatural experience alongside a few others that had been poking around the stairwell. Oh well; it would be their loss. At least she wouldn't be wasting her summer away investigating something that simply didn't exist or be around for when Jenny or some other library employee yelled at them for loitering by the basement entrance.

"Well? Are you guys coming or not?"
Hoo boy it has been awhile since I've posted in this here RP.

Getting to work in a moment.
