Aug 27th -> Sep 2nd QOTW: Who is your favorite superhero, and why?

To answer my own question, I would probably have to say either Kitty Pryde (X-Men) or someone from the Ant-Man crew (Ant-Man, Wasp, Stature, etc.).

I've always been a fan of the X-Men; mutant powers are always cool to explore. As for Kitty in particular, I find phasing a pretty neat power to have. Plus, she's from my home state and gets to run around with a literal dragon (Lockheed) later on sometimes, so that's also a huge bonus in my opinion. As for the Ant-Man crew, the whole controlling ants, size manipulation, bug-based powers, etc. stuff is incredibly interesting to me. Not really too much of a Hank Pym fan (though it depends on the presentation/version). More of a Scott/Cassie fan, given their character backgrounds and general dialogue between one and another.

Given the current state of both the roleplay and off-topic sections on RoleplayerGuild, I wanted to try doing something to hopefully breathe some life back into the site. While we've had video game, movie/tv, etc. type threads in the past, this time around I wanted to try something different by making a thread to discuss comic-related media. Back in the day we used to have a few large canon character Marvel/DC (or combined) universe RPs on the forum, so if those people are still around, then I'm certain this won't die immediately like everything else in the discussion sections.

It doesn't matter if you're a seasoned veteran to comic media or a total newbie. It doesn't matter if you've only read the printed source material or you've only seen the movies/shows. If you want to talk here and discuss comics, feel free to hop in and post here. There will be an attempt made to keep up with a "question of the week" sort of thing to hopefully facilitate some kind of discussion within this thread, so if that is something that interests you, please read below for it.

• Summary: Priscilla, or more commonly Pris, is someone who has gone against the grain. Despite coming from a wealthy, established family, Priscilla has always preferred the humble hands-on approach that some would consider "beneath their status".

• Family: The Okamoto family had immigrated from Japan to Palm Beach, Florida in the latter half of the 20th century as part of corporate restructuring. Katsumi Okamoto, then patriarch of the Okamoto family and Priscilla's great-grandfather, had been employed under one of Japan's many technological firms and was assigned to oversee the firm's southern US operations. Although most of the Okamoto family still resides in Japan, this immigration would lead to the formation of an American Okamoto branch, of which Priscilla is a part of.

• High School Experience: Priscilla was the neighborhood handyman, seemingly always fidgeting without some kind of tool in her hands. While she wasn't an athlete or the like, Priscilla was still relatively well-known for helping out where she could. Whether it be helping the theater kids build the stage or assisting someone who had never before seen a tire iron in their life with changing a tire, she had a knack for popping up whenever anyone needed hands-on help until her sudden post-graduation disappearance.

• Life Leading Up To Reunion: Desiring more in life, Priscilla had passed on college and instead found her calling in the military. Going through A-School and ECS following high school, Priscilla took on the role of a Seabee, being forward deployed as part of a NMCB now and then to assist in some sort of civic action somewhere in the world. This would continue for the next five years until the terms of her initial enlistment was over, where Priscilla took some time off despite her CO trying to get her to re-enlist. However, no one can't relax forever, so with the help of some old comrades, Priscilla found herself a cushy job at a big-name construction company in Florida where she currently helps supervise construction sites.

Yoshino Denji (The serious twin)

_______________________________________________ // INFO P E R S O N A L D E T A I L S Full Name - Yoshino Denji Age - 25 Gender - Male Occupation - Hunter - // PERSONALITY P E R S O N A L I T Y Traditionalist Denji is a stickler for tradition after learning of his uncle's death. Having to watch his twin brother constantly shirk his duties feels Denji with untold dread. This has led the man to constantly act within the traditions, never once coming close to breaking them. Any breaking of these traditions will cause Denji to "discipline" the guilty party. Praying is vastly important to the point he prays at every turn. This traditionalism brought a level of fear toward Yokai that Denji has yet to rectify. Stalwart Thanks to growing up alongside a hyperactive twin, Denji is rather the silent type. He does not use many words to express himself nor, does he often go out of his way to befriend anyone. Anything that would get in the way of keeping the village safe and fed is seen as non-important; this does NOT mean that Denji avoids every get together but, that he chooses to be friendly after all tasks are finished. Selfless Denji is constantly helping those around the village despite his own personal wants and needs. This does not extend to those he considers harmful to traditions but, instead he is willing to patiently help those in need. Even so, Denji will not go out of his way if he thinks it will harbor on harming the traditions set in place. // SKILLSET S K I L L S E T Tracking Denji is an expert tracker. He has trained extensively underneath his father and grandfather, acquiring secrets that even his brother has yet to learn. Tracking is a hobby to Denji despite seeing it as a necessity, practicing his skills during his free time. The thrill of the hunt excites the man; hiding that excitement for his brother doesn't tease him. Using every sense, Denji can track with the best of his clan. Sojutsu To make a long story short, Denji is rather experienced when using a spear; specifically learning sojutsu to support his brother's affinity with archery. He has no love for using the spear, but it allows him to stay out of danger when hunting. He has practiced tirelessly to strike and kill animals in a single strike so as not to invoke the wrath of the yokai. Cook A trait learned from their mother, Denji has an affinity for cooking. He thoroughly enjoys mixing herbs, and spices to find the best combinations, marinating his meat to perfection. There is not much to say but, he has a specific eye for grilling. Cooking family meals has been a tradition for Denji for as long as he could remember.

Physical Description Considering that Denji is a identical twin, he shares a set of features with his older twin that classifies them as pleasing to the eye. The younger twin does attempt to differentiate himself from his brother, keeping his hair semi-straight in comparison to Denki's spiky look, and growing his hair out into a ponytail that reaches his lower back. Physically his body matches Denki almost identically, his muscles being more defined and pronounced due to his rigid training. Notably there is a scar across his left cheek from a failed hunt. Character Conceptualization Denji has not had a interesting life up to this point. For years, he was the responsible twin, despite being younger by a few minutes, that had to keep Denki in line. His stalwart and rigid personality being a result of his fear of Yokai; a fear crafted from losing his uncle to a yokai when Denji was 5 years old. This fear is a big part of the reason why he keeps to tradition so fervently, even explaining why he comes down so hard on his older twin so often, the fear of losing someone else swims through his mind every hunt. But also this fear has lead to a fascination with the old world and the relic that Takamori Kenji keeps at his side. Denji would be content with keeping things the way they are but, a part of him remains curious of the past. Other Information Denji constantly has to prepare Denki's meals and remind him to eat The shoulder pad on his kimono is a reminder of his Uncle Daiki, the same shoulder pad he died wearing Denji knows the signs purify, heat, and slow It is a rather known bit of info that Denji is afraid of Yokai but, only Denki knows how much

Upon dropping off Haruhi at the local blacksmith, Takara said her farewells to her friend. There was still preparation for the festival that needed to be done today, so she couldn't stick around for as long as she would've liked.

Grabbing the reins once more, Takara gave Masaru a nudge to head further back into town. Yet just as they began to move, Takara ordered her horse to hold, and listened quietly. The sound of thunderous hooves—lots of them—followed unfamiliar voices equally loud and noisy. Then, the screaming started. Some villagers began to run for shelter, while others shouted out warnings of terror. Of blasphemy. Of weapons of war.

Like all Heiseinans, Takara had heard the stories. She knew them plenty from her father, who had made a point to instill them into her head. Those who committed the highest sin in the valley were exiled, or if they refused to leave, violently ripped apart by Yokai limb from limb. Growing up, it was enough to knock some sense into her as a child, but it had been so long since the last person had been exiled from the village she had no way of knowing whether or not the tales were indeed true. If the stories were as true as the elders said they were...

Grimacing, Takara ordered Masara to pick up some speed, breaking out into a full dash towards their home. She needed to see her father, preferably before any of these supposed "armed men" showed up at the inn.

As she hastily rode through the village, however, Takara was left dismayed at what she saw next. Multiple men in makeshift armor, with crimson banners of a steel fist, stood outside the inn and stable. Each of these men had carried weapons of various sort, from swords and bows to some kind of metal tube-shaped weapon Takara struggled to identify. In the middle of it all, a large, giant man, wielding a terrifying club much taller than Takara, began to loudly voice his thoughts, insulting the place and demanding service like some rowdy guest might've.

The massive club and other weapons had left Takara hesitant to approach. Anyone in their right mind would've steered clear from such fellows, and Takara was no exception. But as the club-wielding man continued to run his mouth, Takara found herself being goaded into approaching the mass of armored men outside her home. She couldn't resist the urge to ride forth, refusing to let the man further spurn the hard work that her parents, especially her mother, had put into the Crane's Roost.

"Right here." Takara announced, putting on a brave face. The men were clearly intimidating, yet she refused to let them see her shiver in fear. "And if you wish to be served, you will keep your unruliness out of my inn."

Perhaps not her best choice of words, but her father's temper had long already taken ahold of Takara.
